FOX Sourcies Weep for These Moments!

The Sourcies are sobbing quietly as we contemplate this year's most heartbreaking moments on FOX. There were plenty of three-hankie episodes throughout the network this year -- we're almost wondering if the writers all have stockin antidepressants! Here's what we picked as the best sob-inducing moments:

Kutner's suicide House Kutner's suicide was so traumatic that it even spawned a memorial website. There was no explanation for his death, which makes it all the more painful for us - and House. In fact, House is so discombobulated by the death that he starts crying homicide - until he finds a candid picture in Kutner's apartment of Kutner looking away from the camera, showing a side of him that perhaps no one else saw.		Derek's death Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Derek lived through Judgment Day, a computer-controlled nation and multiple travels through time, all in an attempt to keep humanity alive. He grew into a man living in old nuclear fallout tunnels, and when he returned to 2007 he got to watch over his family, knowing that they were destined to die once Skynet took over. And after all of that, he still got killed by a terminator and was buried in an anonymous grave.

Michael's death Prison Break As if Michael's life wasn't dramatic enough, his death was a real kick in the gut. He survived multiple prisons, countless close calls, a whole bunch of escapes, and a worldwide conspiracy bent on bringing him down... but he couldn't survive the ticking time bomb in his head. He accomplished his goals -- he saved his brother, took down The Company, and convinced Sara that he loved her - but he didn't get to enjoy the fruits of those labors. Sob!		Jack's coma 24 Jack faces death all the time... so his being exposed to a brain-eating bioweapon that will kill him in a matter of days is sad, but we're sort of prepared. What we weren't prepared for was Jack (1) refusing to let Kim contribute the stem cells that may save him, and (2) seeing Jack agree to be put into a morphine-induced coma - before Kim can tell him that he has a granddaughter. He may die without ever having met her.

Adam's defeat
American Idol
Those screams of anguish you heard on May 20? Those were the heartbroken wails of countless Glambert fans reacting to Kris Allen winning the American Idol title over their beloved Adam. YouTube was awash with screaming, crying and otherwise agog fans who couldn't believe their man had been denied. Was it because of questions (now resoled) about Adam's sexuality? Was he too cool for the show? Did the voting public just feel more comfortable with Kris? Or did Kris win on his own merits? We don't know - but we do know a whole bunch of Idol fans who are still nursing their broken hearts.

The Sourcies Get Intimate With Best Couple

We have our first FOX Sourcies winner! Congrats to Booth and Brennan, who took the Best Crimebuster category with 46 percent of the vote. Jack Bauer made a strong stand, but he proved to be no match for the one-two punch that Booth and Brennan provide. We can just imagine how Jack will react when he hears the news...

Now we move on to one of the biggies -- best couple! Of course, this is a bittersweet category this year -- two of the grand romances were hallucinatory, and one ended in tragedy. Why do you do this to us, FOX? Why? Sob! But we hope you can pull yourselves together long enough to vote for your favorite twosome. Without further ado, your nominees are:

Booth and Brennan Bones We know these two are meant for each other -- why don't they? Intriguingly, when Gordon came ot visit, he said one member of this pair was acutely aware of the attraction - but he didn't say which one. We finally - FINALLY! - saw B&B get together in the season finale, only to find that it was all in somebody's head, and now Booth doesn't even remember Brennan. Whimper!		House and Cuddy House This was another heartbreaker. We know that House pines for Cuddy, but since he's got the emotional capabilities of a five-year-old, he shows that affection by tormenting her. Cuddy seems to understand -- she's obviously into House. We finally got the passionate clinch we were looking for - but it, too, was a hallucination. You're KILLING us, FOX!

Peter and Lois Family Guy We have to admit we're confused by this, because Lois should be WAY out of Peter's league. Fortunatley for us, she doesn't agree. They make it work, and that makes them one of our favorite couples on TV.		Michael and Sara Prison Break This was a romance that nothing - not prison bars, prison breaks, shadowy conspiracies, fleeing the country, kidnapping, or even beheading - could break. We're thrilled that Michael and Sara got a taste of happness - but why did he have to die in the end? Sob!

So You Think You Can Dance
We love this couple for so many reasons. First of all, they're adorable together. Second, they channel that adorableness into kick-ass hip-hop choreography that lets dancers really show their stuff. The show wouldn't be half as fun without them!

Prison Break: Killing Your Number

In the second part of Prison Break's two-hour series finale, we begin by seeing Michael and Sara talk about the normal life they want in the future... Only it isn't over with yet. What could possibly be next?

The bomb meant to take out Christina and Downey didn't go off. Mahone has to set it off himself. Mahone plays dumb when Christina bursts in and asks why Scylla isn't working. Just in the nick of time as Downey is about to kill him, Mahone finds the trigger on the bomb and takes off with Linc. BOOM!

Prison Break: Rate of Exchange

To soften the blow of the final (really final) finale of Prison Break, we were given a two hour special filled with emotional turmoil. How does it end? In blood and tears, of course, but mostly the good kind, depending on your perspective.

Michael can't make a choice between Linc and Sara -- he's going to save them both. Since Linc's situation is more time-sensitive, Michael goes for him first, with a planned meeting with Christina for exchanging Scylla. Of course, that's not the real plan -- he makes a box of homemade explosives. When they meet, Christina doesn't reach the tripwire, but one of her men does. Christina escapes with Linc and threatens him by saying he won't live long enough to be an uncle, only Linc doesn't know what she's talking about. Of course, Sara hasn't told anyone!

Prison Break: Versus

We were left last week in Prison Break anxiously wondering how Lincoln could possibly manage to escape an unexpected sniper strike approved by Christina -- his own mother! We jump right back into it and see Lincoln under the cover of trees just after the sniper takes aim. Self and Mahone catch a glimpse of the sniper and a fight ensues. Linc, alerted, meets up with them, only to get stabbed by the sniper and left without answers.

Of course, the sniper gets his when he's hit and killed by the SUV that T-Bag is driving, which turns out to be more trouble than it's worth later since General Krantz wanted information out of him. All the while, they're hiding that Christina has Scylla in order to protect their own lives.

But how safe are they?

Prison Break: The Mother Lode

We're back in the thick of things with the return of Prison Break this week. Personal threats, dangerous escapes, and cruel decisions surround the hunt for Scylla from all ends.

The Company threatens Lincoln, Mahone, T-Bag and Self by sending them photos of people they care about to put pressure on them to find Scylla. They've been busy figuring out what the keys they got from the man they shot unlock. But someone else is after Scylla too--Michael!

Meanwhile, Michael and Sara escape a close attack by a Company gunman. Without any resources, Michael resorts to calling Lincoln, but it's dangerous and threatens the deal that protects them. Michael drops the mother bomb on Lincoln--that, yes, their mother is still alive. Michael and Sara barely escape a cop by bribing a ride out of a truck driver, and off they go. Michael toils with his mommy issues--how could she be a Company agent, how could she watch them track down her sons, or was she manipulated like they tried to do to him? During all of his angst, a real problem sneaks up on them. The truck pulls over for a supposed investigation and ends in the truck driver shot.

Prison Break: Are You My Mother?

The midseason finale of Prison Break gives us plenty to chew over while we spend the long cold winter bereft of Breakouts. Key questions: Is The Company evil or not? What's the deal with Michael and Linc's mom? How many double-crosses did Gretchen really think she could pull off? And why the hell wasn't Self the one who end up gut-shot and abandoned in a parking lot?

Once again, the Breakouts are scattered across the country, dealing with their own issues and making their own mistakes. Michael is holed up in a lovely country estate in the middle of nowhere, surrounded, if the lead thug is to be believed, by three varieties of mountain lions. Sure, why not. A friendly shrink tells Michael that his mom is actually alive and well and working for The Company, and The Company is bent on saving the world, not destroying it. Scylla will change everything, and if Michael joins The Company, he'll run the whole shebang with his long-lost mom. Michael is unwilling to listen.

But the shrink keeps pressing, at least in part because The General is demanding results. In an ideal world, Michael will come to The Company with his own free will. If that's not an option, there's a spiffy little chemical cocktail that will make him pliable -- and eat his brain. When time gets short, The General orders the shrink to inject Michael. If he doesn't wake up? Oh well...

Prison Break: Westmoreland returns from the dead (sort of)

The brothers split up this week on Prison Break -- Michael spends a leisurely hour getting holes drilled in his skull and needles poked around his gray matter, while Linc takes a jaunt to the sea in search of Scylla. Plus, Mahone shows his smarts, Self shows his nerves, and T-Bag gets some dental work. Ick!

Sarah is shocked to discover that the Company provides medical services to mortal enemies. Why would The General and his minions want to cure Michael? She asks The General what the hell is going on, and he sneers a bit about devotion and such. He also tells her that this surgery was performed on one other patient -- and she went on to live a long, happy life. Hmmm.

The Company rejects the gamma knife in favor of their own technology, which involves drilling holes in Michael's skull and poking around his brain. To make sure that they don't accidentally remove all those piano lessons he had as a child, he's awake and under local anesthetic the whole time. And because stimulating the brain makes your mind testy, Michael can count on some interesting visions.

Prison Break plays Calvinball

Remember Calvinball from Calvin & Hobbes? That great game insisted that the rules keep changing, and you never know quite what's coming next. Apparently, Self, The Breakouts, The Company and the Feds are fans. That's the only way I can explain all the ups and downs and reversals this week on Prison Break. Plus, Michael is fine with fanaticism, T-Bag gets religion, and then religion gets T-Bag -- right where it hurts.

Don Self has a problem -- he's got most of Scylla, but Michael and the Breakouts kept one vital piece. So Self mounts an assault on Breakouts HQ, firing gas canisters into the warehouse in the hopes of smoking everyone out. Fortunately, Michael sent Lincoln outside to watch out for just this situation, so Linc puts a stop to that. But Self is also prepared: He's got Gretchen, who has a very large gun. No score for either side.

Prison Break: Picking up the pieces

Last week on Prison Break, the Breakouts realized that Don Self completely screwed them. This week, they get to return the favor -- after some death-defying and Hail-Mary-pass activities, of course. Plus, T-Bag is going to be in SUCH big trouble...

The Breakouts quietly -- then not so quietly -- contemplate Self's perfidy, and it's kind of heartbreaking. Poor Sucre keeps insisting that no, really, the parade is just a little late, and Self is playing a practical joke on them, and maybe they're being punk'd, and, and, and.... sigh. Sorry, bunny, but you've been had. Meanwhile, Mahone spews venom, Michael's brain starts melting, Sarah wants to figure out what to do next, and Linc SMASH! Meanwhile, over at Company HQ, The General contemplates his humiliation. General SMASH! The General's minions circle and snipe as he tries to act like everything's fine, and he eventually has to shoot a guy in the face. That was therapeutic!

Self calls his boss and spins a story about how the Breakouts betrayed him and killed Miriam/Trishann. Then he shoots in the air, screaming "Burrows, no!" Stanton, the boss, is bent on revenge. He storms Breakout HQ, but the Breakouts have already vacated. They're surprised they're being accused of murder -- again, in Linc's case -- and are moderately panicky. Sucre wants to head for Mexico, but Michael is adamant -- we're taking The Company down, and that's that. Oh, and that whole time-bomb-in-my-head thing is just going to have to wait. Sarah is NOT happy about that, and tells him he reminds her of her dad. That's not a good thing -- he spent so much time putting other people's needs and problems ahead of his own that her mom left him. Sarah pledges to stay with Michael, however.

Reasons to be Thankful

As we prepare for the annual Festival of Starch and tryptophan-induced food coma that is Thanksgiving, we've been pondering the things we're thankful for this season on FOX. Here's what's running through our heads as we count our blessings this year:

Our favorite animated families are still bringing the hilarity - even, in The Simpsons' case, after 20 years!
No matter what obstacles are thrown in his way, Michael Scofield always has a plan on Prison Break.
The fabulous relationships on Prison Break. There's the Michael and Sarah love story, of course, but there's also the bond between the brothers, and we still get sniffly when we remember Sucre praying for Michael's health!
Robots just keep getting sexier on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Terminator keeps hitting us with new twists - Riley knows Jesse? Ellison is teaching ethics to a rebuilt Cromartie? What's going on?
That House remains one of the best shows on TV - AND that our doctors don't seem to be turning to House for hints on proper bedside manner!
Finding out Wilson has a dark side that involves jail time and stained glass windows
The House and Cuddy kiss!
Walter Noble on Fringe - we love his stream-of-consciousness food reports, his childlike glee at being out of the mental institution, his matter-of-fact grasp of things that make our head spin - and his frequent paeans to pharmaceuticals. That is one heavily medicated man!
Joshua Jackson is back on TV - and he's got such a juicy part on Fringe!
The continuing knee-buckling chemistry between Booth and Brennan on Bones.
That Brennan figured out that Jared was Booth-Light - and there's no substitute for Seeley!

That Gordon Ramsay is cleaning up the countries restaurants one expletive-laden rant at a time.

'Prison Break': Never Trust a Man Named Self

This week on Prison Break, the Breakouts defeat their enemies, achieve their goal, vanquish those who would harm them -- and then discover they're just as screwed as they'd always been. Dagnabbit! When are these crazy kids going to get their shot at a shirtless paradise?

When last we left the Breakouts, it looked like they'd made a fatal mistake in their quest for Scylla. Michael moved the mini-monolith, and the General came a-running. "You almost beat it," the General sneers. "The frustration must be killing you." But it was all a part of the plan -- they needed the General's card, and he just brought it right to them. The General remains smug -- you're still missing several cards. Au contraire, says Michael, exhibiting his wares. How did you get all five cards?" the General gasps. "The frustration must be killing you," Michael smugs back at him. I believe Sucre sums up the situation most poetically. Quoth Fernando, "Suck it, General."

Of course, there are still several obstacles. For example, Gretchen and T-Bag are heavily armed and waiting for the Breakouts at Gate, and the General has a whole bunch of goons at his beck and call. Still, Michael and Co. decide to leave via Company elevator. The General thinks he's on firmer ground now -- you'll never make it! I can give you anything you want! Just give in, and all will be well! You can't kill me, or you lose your leverage! Ah, but the Breakouts have planned for that. See, Lisa, the icy other woman in the General's gang, is interrupted in her lunch by a soup dumped on her lap. A gun-toting Sarah is waiting in the bathroom for her. Remember that little piece of evidence Gretchen passed along when she didn't get the General's card? That was her telling Michael that Lisa was the General's daughter. Bingo -- leverage.

Prison Break Eulogizes Brad Bellick

Audiences got a heck of a shock last week on Prison Break when Brad Bellick died a noble, if gruesome, death on the show. Over the course of the series, Bellick evolved morphed through many phases -- he was a brutal prison guard, a ham-handed bounty hunter, a terrified prisoner, and finally a virtuous man who would sacrifice himself for his brothers-in-arms. All that has given people plenty to talk about!

First up, Wade Williams, the actor who brought Bellick to life over the past three and a half years. He writes in his blog on TV Guide that he's not sorry to see Bellick go: "It was tiring playing such a self-centered, unlikable character... It became uncomfortable being the whiny naysayer, the out-for-himself momma's boy, the sadistic prison guard. Good riddance, Brad!"

Ouch! Well, those words make more sense when you realize what Wade went through to play Bellick: "In every episode of Season 3, while we were in the Panamanian prison Sona, Bellick was getting beaten, ridiculed, starved, stripped naked, beat up, tortured or just ignored! Not to mention he was wearing hideous 'tighty whities' and MC Hammer tiger pants. During this time, I developed a twitch -- my whole body would jerk randomly. I'd be at home watching PBS Sprout with our daughter and I'd be full-body twitching! It was weird. I believe it was from all the stress playing such a tortured, unlikable, helpless character. About two weeks after we stopped shooting during the writers strike, the twitching stopped! Funny thing, I started twitching again when we began shooting Season 4 in May! And ever since Brad died about a month ago, the twitching has disappeared!"
