FOX Sourcies Weep for These Moments!

The Sourcies are sobbing quietly as we contemplate this year's most heartbreaking moments on FOX. There were plenty of three-hankie episodes throughout the network this year -- we're almost wondering if the writers all have stockin antidepressants! Here's what we picked as the best sob-inducing moments:

Kutner's suicide House Kutner's suicide was so traumatic that it even spawned a memorial website. There was no explanation for his death, which makes it all the more painful for us - and House. In fact, House is so discombobulated by the death that he starts crying homicide - until he finds a candid picture in Kutner's apartment of Kutner looking away from the camera, showing a side of him that perhaps no one else saw.		Derek's death Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Derek lived through Judgment Day, a computer-controlled nation and multiple travels through time, all in an attempt to keep humanity alive. He grew into a man living in old nuclear fallout tunnels, and when he returned to 2007 he got to watch over his family, knowing that they were destined to die once Skynet took over. And after all of that, he still got killed by a terminator and was buried in an anonymous grave.

Michael's death Prison Break As if Michael's life wasn't dramatic enough, his death was a real kick in the gut. He survived multiple prisons, countless close calls, a whole bunch of escapes, and a worldwide conspiracy bent on bringing him down... but he couldn't survive the ticking time bomb in his head. He accomplished his goals -- he saved his brother, took down The Company, and convinced Sara that he loved her - but he didn't get to enjoy the fruits of those labors. Sob!		Jack's coma 24 Jack faces death all the time... so his being exposed to a brain-eating bioweapon that will kill him in a matter of days is sad, but we're sort of prepared. What we weren't prepared for was Jack (1) refusing to let Kim contribute the stem cells that may save him, and (2) seeing Jack agree to be put into a morphine-induced coma - before Kim can tell him that he has a granddaughter. He may die without ever having met her.

Adam's defeat
American Idol
Those screams of anguish you heard on May 20? Those were the heartbroken wails of countless Glambert fans reacting to Kris Allen winning the American Idol title over their beloved Adam. YouTube was awash with screaming, crying and otherwise agog fans who couldn't believe their man had been denied. Was it because of questions (now resoled) about Adam's sexuality? Was he too cool for the show? Did the voting public just feel more comfortable with Kris? Or did Kris win on his own merits? We don't know - but we do know a whole bunch of Idol fans who are still nursing their broken hearts.

FOX Sourcies Are Hanging Off a Cliff!

We're back with an exciting, nail-biting cliffhanger in the Sourcies... which we're not going to tell you about right now. First, we're going to give mad props to Ryan O'Neal, who won the Best Villain competition with a commanding lead. Congrats, Ryan!

Now we're heading into the Best Cliffhanger competition. Which of these nerve-wracking unanswered questions are you most eager to see resolved? Polls are open until August 4, so get voting!

House
House checks himself into the loony bin
We were thrilled when Cuddy and House finally got together - and got it on - but of course, all was not as it seemed. House hallucinated that particular pairing, and that was the evidence he need to prove that yes, something is seriously wrong, and yes, he needs help. House does the unthinkable: he checks himself into a psychiatric ward with Wilson's help. No one else knows what he's done, and no one can tell how it will change him. Will he be cured next season? Happy? Nice? Or will he still be seeing Amber, spitting venom, and being the House we know so well? And if he is cured, what will that do to the show? We're just going to have to wait and see...

Back to the Future
Here's a cliffhanger that will just keep us dangling, since the show was (sob!) cancelled. We've got various alternate futures in play - one where Derek is alive, where John's father is alive, where everything we think we know is actually in flux. What kind of world is John in now? Can he get back to our world - and should he? What's going on with Allison and Cameron? So many questions - and, in the ultimate cliffhanger they're never going to get answered.

Dollhouse
Everything changes
Here's another show that left us with loads of questions - but in this case, we have a shot at finding out the answers. How will Echo deal with having multiple personalities in her head - and how is she able to resist her programming? What kind of havoc will Alpha wreak now that he's on the loose and Echo has rejected him? How will Paul Ballard fit into all of this - has he really bought into the Dollhouse's plan? So many questions -- and we're looking forward to some mind-blowing answers!

Jack is infected
While fighting terrorists, Jack defused a biological weapon that threatened to infect the Eastern Seaboard - but in the process, he himself got dosed with the toxin. The upshot? Jack is doooooooomed! Perhaps. Yes, he's infected with a variant of Mad Cow disease that takes hold quickly and has a 100 percent mortality rate, and yes, he already started showing som syptoms in the last season. But there's a chance an experimental stem-cell treatment, using Kim's genetic material, can cure him - IF Jack will let that happen. Sigh.

Fringe
Are we in for an interdimensional war?
We finally get an idea of what's causing all the scientific wonkiness in Fringe when we see Walter standing over Peter's grave. That's because our dimension's Peter died as a child, and Walter apparently snatched another dimension's Peter to take his place. Poing! Is this the start of an interdimensional war? Did Peter's absence from that dimension cause all the problems they seem to be having? Is William Bell one of the good guys, or is he scheming for our dimension's downfall? Is he even from our dimension? And what's Olivia's place in all of this? We're counting the days until we find out!

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: A Final Farewell

As much as we hate to hear it, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is apparently set for cancellation, according to the trustworthy Ausiello Files. Do we believe it? Unfortunately, we must admit that the show has probably come to an end, at least as far as FOX is concerned. We feel like a busted-up Cameron (Summer Glau) -- not able to fully calculate our pain but sure we would feel it if we knew how deep it went.

In keeping with the theme, we're taking a look back at what worked for us, what didn't, and what we'll miss. Season One was rather linear, but Season Two picked up the pace and gave us an intense ending that we won't soon forget. We were relieved when John Connor lost his emo hair and angst for a new, more concentrated John wracked with relationship issues when Riley came into the scene. As much as we loved to hate Riley, we were sad to see how she died at the hands of Jesse, who was her supposed protector.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Born To Run

We were wrapped up in tension waiting for the season finale of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and it certainly didn't disappoint. We eagerly await the third season and a whole new layer of complications.

Where do we even begin that can give justice to this episode? First and foremost, it goes without saying that we're impressed with how far this show has come from the first season, when it seemed to just line up one Terminator after another to pit against Sarah Connor and her crew. The show got much more complex the moment the second season started, and we're glad to see development in both the larger story arc and in John Connor as a character. He's growing up!

Along with growing up comes making big decisions. Despite Sarah Connor's efforts to get John out of trouble, he refuses (of course). Rather than lay it all out for you, we're going to give you our read on the episode and ask for yours. Welcome to the episode where the soul of artificial intelligence is questioned, Sarah's decisions are tested, and John Connor must become a man, just as much as John Henry must consider his role in this world. This week's episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles had us on edge and gasping in shock as the twists unfolded. We'll lay it all out for you, but we'd really recommend you watch this episode and tell us how you reacted.

We already know something is going to happen to Savannah, but the first surprise is what. While at school, John Henry is talking to Savannah over chat. Her teacher calls her out for not paying enough attention. After hearing about John Henry, she has a little talk with Catherine Weaver. Weaver isn't so concerned about Savannah, she's more worried about Savannah telling anyone else about John Henry. "A predator," the teacher warns. But John Henry is far from that. In fact, when Savannah is back at home doing homework, John Henry notices a breach of security -- a Terminator! John Henry guides Savannah to safety on her headset in a calm, emotionless yet still concerned way... But eventually, she's out of range and John Henry looks on... John Connor swoops her up just as the Terminator appears!

In the gunfire on the way out of Weaver's home, Derek is shot by the Terminator. Just like that, Derek is dead with one bullet to the head. No dramatic goodbyes, no heavy breathing, no long "nooooooo!" from John. Just a sudden realization in passing, and we're off again as the situation gets tenser and tenser.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: To The Lighthouse

The pressure to move is on during this week's episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. New identities and new lives are in order to protect John. John Connor, that is. John Henry is an entirely different story...

Back at ZeiraCorp, Savannah Weaver wants to play a game with John Henry again, except that Savannah's duck toys don't belong in the Bionicle world. Just as John Henry comes to realize that they can change the rules, someone or something else changes his rules. Programming interferes with John Henry and he grabs Savannah. Frightened, Savannah breaks away and gets help. Murch slides in just in time to shut John Henry down. Thankfully, as far as Murch is concerned, the situation wasn't caused by a malfunction. However, it may be worse -- it looks as though he was hacked.

With a myriad of conflicts rising, Sarah is put in a position of handling everything herself. Sarah can't trust Derek after finding out about Jesse, and Cameron is just as questionable. Sarah takes John off to the safe house -- a diversion from the desert road like he expected. There, John finds none other than Charley Dixon, Sarah's last remaining trustworthy companion.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Today Is The Day (Part 2)

We're all a mess about who to side with and what the future holds after this week's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Sure enough, the writers spun the show around on us, leaving us sympathetic to Jesse despite her plan that ended in Riley's death, mistakeningly by her own hands rather than Cameron's.

Jeese's flashforwards reveal that her future is grim and frail. After the box delivery for John is picked up, Dietz -- another shipmate aboard the USS Jimmy Carter -- questions John's motives. A scuffle ensues, disagreements peak, and the box is opened. Liquid shimmer moves in the box. Another member of the crew approaches the box, but the liquid takes shape and stabs the woman before taking her form -- it's a T-1000! Dietz incites a riot, Jesse on the defensive, and she is beaten by several crewmembers. Queeg, the reprogrammed Terminator, kills Dietz and halts the riot. But is it really for Jesse or for the mission?

In reality, Queeg's actions were for the mission, one that's being hidden from Jesse. She questions Queeg and tries to get him to give up control, but his mission overrides regular procedural commands. Jesse turns on him and shoots him through the head. But what has she done? Shortly afterwards, the T-1000 reappears. She tells Jesse to inform John that the answer is "no." Is this because of Jesse's actions, or had the T-1000 already decided?

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Today Is The Day

We have a two-parter this week on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which already leaves us with our heads spinning as we try to sort through threads of reality and time slippage. What exactly is going on in Jesse's future? Is Jesse's future even going to happen anymore?

Riley's body is found in a river, which Sarah discovers when neighbor Kacy makes conversation about her ex's latest case. Sarah is convinced that Cameron is the one responsible and she goes to John with these accusations. John confronts Cameron, who tells him that she didn't do it. He believes her... for now...

Sarah and John have repeated conflicts over what to do about Cameron. She's even more angered by discovering the hidden endoskeleton parts that John was covering up. Sarah is convinced their "tame" terminator is responsible. Cameron has lied before, she points out -- about destroying the endoskeleton remains, and about loving John.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Ourselves Alone

Following Sarah's dream-woven kidnapping nightmare in the last episode, the depth of the show takes another leap forward this week with what we feel is the best episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles yet. Cameron gets unnerving, John grows older, Sarah gets untrusting, and Riley learns a valuable lesson about trust (in so many words).

Cameron has a glitch that causes her fingers to tense too tight and kill the bird that had nested in the chimney. This moment becomes a metaphor throughout the show as Riley reappears. As Cameron goes about trying to fix herself and getting John's help, Riley's re-emergence is certainly unwelcome.

Sarah (who casually mentions to Cameron in passing that she was kidnapped and the matter is left alone) investigates Riley's foster family for potential abuse, and instead discovers that a counselor has been talking to Riley, who seems to be leaking information that Sarah feels must have been supplied by John (including visions of the destroyed future). Sarah meets with this counselor, who turns out to be Jesse herself, setting up the whole situation to cause distrust between Sarah and John and pit Cameron against Riley.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Some Must Watch While Some Must Sleep

I'm deviating from our usual summary structure for something more reflective, since the show for this week's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles does the same. I'm curious since the past two episodes have had Native American references. I notice these sorts of things since I'm mixed blood and hyperaware. Last week, Cameron began the show off with telling the rest of the group about the "Native American" belief that when someone takes your photo, the photo steals your soul. That's not quite true, but I'll put that aside for the fact that they're even making attempts at including Native content.

This week, the influences are not as subtle or brief. We are presented with a split reality--the dream world and the real world. Only, at least as far as I am concerned, both seem equally strange. In one reality, Cameron is making pancakes for John since Sarah has opted into a sleep clinic to deal with her insomnia. That's odd enough on its own. Sarah faces a thread of linear nightmares about seeing a coyote before being tazed, kidnapped, and held in the back of a truck to be interrogated and injected with something by Ed Winston, the man who shot her at the mysterious Skynet plant.

Sarah meets a suspicious nurse at the sleep clinic who she believes is doing harm to the other patients, such as her roommate Dana, who shares some of Sarah's past bad habits. Here is where the dreamcatcher appears, apparently made by a janitor named Hector with a technological coyote tattoo on the back of his neck. Is he possibly part Native? Is he the Trickster Coyote trying the subtly help Sarah cope with her situation?

T:TSCC: Garret Dillahunt on John Henry, Fave Fights and Shocking Deaths

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has rocked our collective world with shocks and surprises before. Cromartie's death and John Henry's appearance was one of those creepy surprises -- suddenly, a metal killing machine was back on the scene with the innocence of a child. Granted, that child may end up destroying humanity, but still...

We caught up with Garret Dillahunt and asked him about becoming a completely different character, what ranked as his favorite fights, and what we can expect from John Henry later this season. Plus, he hints at some "shocking" deaths -- check it out!

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Desert Cantos

We're picking up the pace again with the second episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' return. This week, both humans and Terminators explore death, lies and identities begin to unfold, and Sarah gets to give John the "I told you so" look. You know the one.

The Sarah Connor crew travel to Charm Acres, home to the Desert Heat and Air factory that Sarah believes is an undercover company connected to Skynet. They attend the funeral for those lost during the explosion that Catherine Weaver caused when she was trying to cover up evidence.

Everyone does a bit of their own deceiving. Sarah buddies up with the wife of Ed Winston, who was responsible for Sarah's leg wound. She acquires a storage key from her and discovers a blood at the location, but doesn't tell Ed's wife. Derek gives a ride to Walsh, who is secretly on the lookout for a survivor for Catherine Weaver. Both skirt around their suspicions, and neither come up with anything. John befriends Zoe, whose father's photo is among those of the dead from the factory explosion. She helps him discover a strange pool of murky water surrounded by dead cows.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: The Good Wound

We're back after a brief hiatus where we were left with the eeriness of the computer AI John Henry's new body and new questions about the three dots. This week on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Sarah faces death with the dream-like presence of Kyle Reese at her side, John Connor is distracted with Riley's suicide attempt, and the computer AI John Henry develops an intrinsic but dangerous human trait -- curiosity.

Sarah comes to in a hospital with a bullet still lodged in her leg. No one's found her out yet, but there's evidence of her everywhere. After Sarah harshly rips the IV out of her arm, there before her is a solid apparition of John's father, Kyle Reese. With Kyle's guidance, Sarah escapes the hospital and finds Dr. Felicia Burnett, who is forced to help Sarah.

Back at another hospital where John and Cameron await news of how Riley is doing, Derek hears from Sarah and heads out to destroy all evidence of Sarah that was left behind in the town and at the warehouse. John's informed that his mother has been shot, but Derek has him stay for Riley, because he has to live with the decision he's made.

T:TSCC: What Works, What Needs Work

Season two of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles won't be back until Friday, Feb. 13, which leaves us with lots of time on our hands. Lets take a look at what's working and what's not on T:TSCC.

I love the Terminator franchise, and I'm semi-delirious over this summer's release of the fourth Terminator film, "Terminator: Salvation." I can't wait to see what Christian Bale does with the adult John Connor character. I also love T:TSCC. It's a taut sci-fi thriller with plenty of action and a talented, sexy cast. Season two has some storytelling issues that concern me ... but first, let's focus on the good stuff.

What works:

CAMERON: Actress Summer Glau has been a fan favorite since her role as the flaky but gifted River Tam on Joss Whedon's ill-fated but brilliant series Firefly. Glau, a little older with more time to refine her acting skills, brings a refreshing and humorous interpretation to the role of "terminatrix" Cameron. We know that Cameron was closely modeled after a human girl known simply as "Allison from Palmdale," and that she was captured by the human resistance and reprogrammed to serve John Connor. But how much of Allison's personality and human ability to feel was passed on to Cameron? Cameron has already cryptically explained to John that she can "feel" things, but can she feel emotions? Watching Cameron's character grow further should be interesting to see.
