Feeling blue? Click to hear the happiest song ever.

Click to listen to Israel Kamakawiwo 'ole from Hawaii, also known as "The Gentle Giant," sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow. He was a Hawaiian singer and sadly died in June of 1997 at the age of 39.

Visit mele.com for more of his songs.

Jason Castro's rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which he recently sang on American Idol was a hit. Castro graciously acknowledged that Israel was his inspiration.

In my opinion, Kamakawiwo 'ole's talent is far superior to Castro's but I do enjoy Jason's rendition.

Tears come every time I listen to Israel sing it so it may sound silly to call it a happy song.
But I think Israel's music captures the dreams we all carry in our hearts.

After you listen, I hope you'll share your thoughts.

Olio, owned by Tony and Rachel Boueri has been around for 5-years.

Just a block south of Atlantic Ave. on 2nd Ave., it is not to be missed.

Manouk Costanian, Delray Beach resident and controller/general manager at Sherwood Pontiac-Buick-Honda GMC Truck in Delray says he has been taking clients to Olio's for lunch and dinner for years. "The food is fresh and always good and there's a personal touch," he said.

Part of the experience is the connected clothing store that carries chic women's clothing and clothes for baby - Style & Wine - 561.330.3777 - call for hours.

There is also a wine room with an old world feel and a wine cellar with an extensive inventory of wines for sale.

Why are businesses moving from Delray to Boca?

Office Depot - leaving for Boca this fall.

Costco - moved to Boca.

Circuit City closed Delray store but kept Boca store open - remember how long Linton Blvd. was torn up with construction.

Anthony Fanelli, owner of Boys Farmer's Market was quoted in the Sunday, Apr. 20 edition of the Sun-Sentinel that he would never build in Delray again.

Now the plan to attract large businesses is to build a huge, out-of-scale hotel downtown Delray Beach where the old library used to be. It will have office space and supposedly big companies just won't be able to resist moving in there.

That is so silly I can't even think of a comment.

Businesses in Delray are leaving and the question is why.

Clearly Boca Raton is doing a lot right or companies would not go to all of the expense and upheaval involved to move.

What do you think?

Lake Ida Dog Park - The happiest place in Delray Beach

Looking for a place to go and hang with your best friend? Try the Lake Idea Dog Park in Delray Beach.

Situated on 2.5 acres of fenced parkland, the dog park is divided into 3 spaces - one for small dogs (29 pounds and under) and one for large dogs. The spaces are rotated so one area is always empty ensuring the grounds have a chance to recuperate from the enthusiastic visitors.

Local heroes - Delray Beach girls raise money for Tri County Humane Society

Lollipop, Bark and Ku.

Neighborhod%20boys.jpg

Neighborhood boys, T.O., 11, Robby, 15, and Colby, 12
stopped by for some lemonade.

Chloe, 11, and Olivia, 10, both 5th graders spent one afternoon of their spring vacation enthusiastically selling lemonade to raise money for the Tri County Humane Society.

"Our goal was to raise $20 and we did," Chloe said.

This isn't the first time Chloe has raised funds for the non-profit, no-kill shelter. In the 3rd grade, she and some other friends collected toys, blankets along with $120 in donations for the society.

Both Chloe and Olivia adopted their pets from the Tri County and that is one reason they feel so strongly about the organization.

"We have two cats, Lily and Nikki," Olivia said. Chloe's family found their dog, Ku, at the shelter too..

Sounds like Delray is going to the dogs (and cats.) And that's a good thing. Thanks girls.

Have a wonderful evening dining and gaming at All That Jazz on Fri., Apr. 18…and help Kids in Distress

Kids%20in%20Distress.jpg

One of my favorite charities, Kids in Distress, is holding their largest fund-raiser of the year.

This non-profit organization helps prevent child abuse through parental education programs so children don’t have to suffer the trauma of being taken away from their homes.

When it’s not possible for them to remain at home, Kids has a main campus in Wilton Manors. There they live in a safe environment until loving foster homes can be found for them. An ancillary office in Delray Beach is located at 601 No. Congress Ave, #413.

All profits from the Apr. 18 Gala go to Kids in Distress.

* All That Jazz
* Fri., Apr. 18, 7p.m. through midnight
* Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach, 100 South Ocean Ave.
* Tickets $350
* Black Tie Optional

Michaela at the Feb. 22, 2008 Grammy's in LA

Twelve-year old west Boca singing sensation, wrote and recorded I don’t Understand.

It's a tribute to Nancy Bochicchio and her daughter, Joey, who were brutally murdered after shopping at Town Center in Boca Raton last year just before Christmas.

All proceeds from the CD will be given to St. Jude Catholic School in Boca Raton where Joey was in the 2nd grade or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

If you missed Michaela sing on Apr. 5th at The Colony, you missed a treat but she will be back.

This is an informal gig - she'll perform some time after 8 p.m.

Eric, the regular will be playing all night long - he heats up the Porch Bar with his cool guitar.

And one of my faves, Rico, who used to play weekly at The Colony frequently shows up.

So relax and enjoy the evening.

Hear Michaela sing live:

Saturday, Apr. 19 after 8 p.m. - Free
The Colony Hotel & Cabana Club - on the Porch Bar
525 E.Atlantic Ave.
Delray Beach
