Sick Child - high fever - Interesting new website for help

http://meinsteininnovations.com is a website that describes a new product
to help parents give their feverish children the proper dose of medication.

Dr. Evan Meiner, an ER physician with many years of experience, developed
this unique card to show parents exactly how much fever-reducing
medication to give their infant or child based on the most reliable
method – the child's weight! The product is only for $3.99, including shipping,
from the website.

One of the most common reasons for visits to the ER or the pediatrician
is parents' inability to control their child's fever. Under- or over-dosing
is all too common because the instructions that come with these medications
are vague and incomplete. The Pediatric Fever Fighter™ dosing card might
be the right solution to this frightening problem for parents. I can't wait to
receive mine in the mail, in case I have to dispense medication to my
grandchildren, when they visit.

Computer "spam" and "hoaxes"- it's partically your fault!

Does your computer have a virus? Do you constantly delete spam? Is your
In-Box filled with e-mails from people or sites that are unknown to you?
Well, it could be YOUR fault! Here is some really good advice from SNOPES.

1) Any time you see an E-Mail that says forward this on to "10" of your friends, or sign this petition, or you'll get bad luck, good luck, or whatever, it almost always has an E-Mail tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and E-Mails of those folks you forward to. The host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of "active" E- Mails to use in SPAM E-Mails, or sell to other spammers.

2) Almost all E-Mails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards.
This is a HOAX.

All it was, and all any of this type of E-Mail is, is a way to get names and "cookie" tracking information for telemarketers and spammers - - to validate active E-Mail accounts for their own profitable purposes.

You can do your friends and family members a GREAT favor (PLEASE) by sending this information to them; you will be providing a service to your friends, and will be rewarded by not getting thousands of spam E-Mails in the future!

If you have been sending out (FORWARDING) the above kinds of E-Mail, now you know why you get so much SPAM!

Do yourself a favor and STOP adding your name(s) to those types of listings regardless how inviting they might sound! You may think you are supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT in the long run. Instead, you w i ll be getting tons of junk mail later! Plus, we are helping the spammers get rich! Let's don't make it easy for them!

Also: E-Mail petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress or any other organization. To be acceptable, petitions must have a signed signature and full address of the person signing the petition.
For more information or to find out if someone has sent you a "Hoax" go to:

Emergency telephone contacts on your cellphone

ICE your cellphones!!!

I. C. E. stands for In Case of Emergency.
If you own a cellphone, you should enter ICE numbers into its memory.
If you are ever incapacitated or if you have an accident, where you cannot
communicate, your cellphone can save your life.
Here's how it works:
Simply enter the word ICE 1 or ICE 2, ICE 3, etc. and list the names and
phone numbers of those you would like to be notified, as separate listings.
The police are aware of ICE and have used it to find relatives of accident victims.
Take a moment and do it now. Doing this may save your life!

Staying safe in your community - police suggestions

1) Turn your lights ON and keep them on in the front and the rear of your home.

2) If you have an alarm system, USE IT!!! Turn it on when you are home at night and when you are away - even if it is to go to the clubhouse or the tennis court.

3) Call your police department to notify them if you see suspicious vehicles or persons
trespassing. 561 688-3400.

4) If your alarm is set off by accident, call to report a false alarm - 561 688-3695

5) Call your alarm service to check and update your system to see if it is functioning.

6) Be a nosy neighbor and keep an eye on your neighbor's front and backyard.

7) Lock your car and take your garage opener out of your car, if you park it in your driveway.
8) Don't let other cars or vans "piggy-back" through your security gates.

Donating/recycling your old cellphones

You can donate your phone for refurbishment and redistribution for a
potentially valuable second life before disposal. Many organizations collect
cell phones as donations for refurbishment and redistribution. Here are
the names of four groups that accept your old phones.

American Cellular Donation Organization -
Assists churches, schools and other nonprofit organizations to raise funds
through used cell phone donation drives. All nonworking phones are recycled
according to USEPA guidelines so they stay out of landfills.
Working phones are refurbished and channeled to those who need
wireless communication but
would otherwise not be able to have it. All proceeds from working phones
are returned to the donating organization. (www.cellulardonation.org/)

AT&T Wireless - includes multiple recycling and
donation programs. (www.attwireless.com/our_company/
cares/recycle_program.jhtml)

Cell Phones for Soldiers - A program that helps
our troops call home. (http://www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com/)

Charitable Recycling Program - making it easy to
dispose of used cell phones. (www.charitablerecycling.com/

Roman shades and blinds - Huge recall by CPSC

Consumer Product Safety Commission Recall focuses on child safety:

The CPSC has issued updated recalls for several types of Roman shades and blinds.
The recall is for items sold at Wal-Mart, Pottery Barn, IKEA and Target.

Customers that have Roman or roll-up shades in their homes should contact the Window Covering Safety Council immediately at www.windowcoverings.org or by calling (800) 506-4636 anytime to receive a free repair kit to make the window coverings safe.

In the meantime, the CPSC is urging anyone with young children to remove any blinds or shades that have cords attached. They also advised parents not to place cribs, beds or other furniture close to windows because children can climb on the furniture and reach the cords.

Cordless window coverings are recommended for all homes where children live or visit.
