How to Be a Know-sy Neighbor, by Tina G. Korn

Do You Know How to Be a Know-sy Neighbor?

1) Turn your lights ON and keep them on in the front and the rear of your home.
2) If you have an alarm system, USE IT!!! Turn it on when you are home at night and when
you are away - even if it is to go to the clubhouse or the tennis court.
3) Call your police department to notify them if you see suspicious vehicles or persons
trespassing. 561 688-3400.
4) If your alarm is set off by accident, call to report a false alarm - 561 688-3695
5) Call your alarm service to check and update your system to see if it is functioning.
6) Be a know-sy neighbor and keep an eye on your neighbor's front and
backyard.
7) Lock your car and take your garage opener out of your car, if you park it in your driveway.
8) Don't let other cars or vans "piggy-back" through your security gates.

How Do You Know When You Are Old?

ICE your cellphones!!! by Tina G. Korn

I. C. E. stands for In Case of Emergency. If you own a cellphone,
you should enter ICE numbers into its memory. If you are ever incapacitated or if
you have an accident, where you cannot communicate, your cellphone can save your life.
Here's how it works:
Simply enter the word ICE 1 or ICE 2, ICE 3, etc. and list the names and phone numbers
of those you would like to be notified, as separate listings. The police are aware of ICE
and have used it to find relatives of accident victims.
Take a moment and do it now. It may save your life!

W. Boynton Recreation Center Activities, by Tina G. Korn

West Boynton has a terrific Recreational Center. Have you been there?
Do you know where it is? It is located at 6000 Northtree Boulevard, Lake Worth, directly
behind Park Vista High School.
phone # 561 355-1125.
Their hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M
Saturday 9:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.
Sunday closed

There is a gymnasium, meeting room and teen room and a helpful staff.
The REC Center is surrounded by a lovely park featuring lighted basketball courts,
baseball fields, softball fields, hockey rink, skate park, sand volleyball court, and
tennis courts. All of these courts are lighted for evening use.

There is parking, however, it appears to be insufficient for the needs of the participants
involved in so many sports. Write letters! Make yourself heard. If more parking is
needed, this should be brought to the attention of community leaders.

There is lots of room to run around in the gated playground for children.
You can reserve a group picnic pavilion or picnic shelter. The restroom facilities are
clean and safe.

Enjoying Our Florida Beaches by Tina G. Korn

Bring Out the Child in Yourself -
Beachfun1.jpg

Everyone should enjoy the beach. After all, we live in Florida! We live so close to the ocean,
why don't we go more often? I know that before I moved here, I couldn't wait to dive into the water or to just sit on the sand and feel the ocean breeze and salt air.

Children know how to enjoy the beach. They don't think about it. They just explore it. Dig, dump, build, experiment - over and over and over. That's because their minds are free and clear.

So, here's a thought. Are you feeling dreary? Are you tired and bored? Are you overworked?
Well, whatever you're experiencing, get into your car and drive over to the beach. Pretend you are a child and close your eyes. Breath in the air. Feel it. Enjoy it. Wiggle your toes in the sand.

You're a Floridian! Enjoy our beautiful beaches.

ID Theft by Tina G. Korn

According to a national telephone poll by Consumer Reports, 89% of Americans believe that congress should pass laws restricting businesses and government agencies from using our Social Security numbers as ID. Many insurance companies and national associations have already given their clients/members a new ID number to use instead of their S.S. #.
What do you think?
Your # provides a wealth of information for thieves to unlock your financial identity. Have you provided your number for purposes other than credit, employment or tax auditing? I have.
Every time I go to a new doctor, dentist or other health care provider, I have to furnish my
S.S. #. I am NOT happy about this.
Is my information sitting in a file cabinet drawer in an office that is cleaned nightly? Is it possible that someone can reach into that drawer and use my information and then replace it?
Are my records secure from other prying eyes? Is my information being shared by the doctor's staff, when my records are forwarded to another doctor? This makes me very uncomfortable.
I asked WHY my S.S.# was needed when I became a new patient. The answer I received was, "What if we have to find you to pay your bill?" Well, I don't have a good retort for that. Any solutions out there?
