Arnie Sarrow - Decorated Veteran of WWII

Arnie Sarrow served as a fighter pilot in WWII. He enlisted as a private in 1942 and
was accepted for flight training. He received his Silver Wings to fly single-seaters,
as a fighter pilot. Flying a P 47 Thunderbolt, he completed 101 combat missions
and sorties in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. arnieplane.jpg
Near the end of the war, when Germany had jets in the air, he encountered an
ME 262 jet in a dog fight. With missing parts, and smoke streaming, the German jet lost the battle to Sarrow. During the war, he was awarded the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Belgian Croix de Guere, and several ribbons.
