Linda Greenberg is a very special lady creating a homeless charity in Annapolis, MD. that has continued for 25 years, and creating 4Uganda to help the natives of that country. Casper, a local "star" and therapy dog recently passed. The following is Linda Greenberg's account. And, as a sequel to this story, within a day or two after Casper was gone Linda went to the West Palm dog pound and rescued another dog as calm and docile as Casper. She's naming the dog "Delray," and will have him trained as a Therapy Dog. For Linda's Farewell, click on" Continue Reading" link below.
Casper "Our Perfect Dog"
It is with a broken heart but full of an unconditional tremendous love that I share with you; Casper “passing over the Rainbow Bridge.” He was so brave and silent throughout his life; not knowing a cancerous tumor had developed on his adrenal gland.
Casper was like no other pet in the world and to have been blessed to even spend an hour with him was to truly rekindle your hearts passions. He simply knew; wanted everyone well and gave himself totally to others! He was a true “Therapy Dog” in every way; simply wanting to love you with licks of affection and understanding. He knew!
Casper was a Star at Delray Beach Medical Center and had a fan club…from the folks in the offices (who weekly couldn’t wait to see him and brought in treats) to the receptionist, doctors, nurses, all the employees and volunteers. Everyone knew “Thursday was Casper’s Day” and spirits were lifted when he appeared. From begging on 2 legs for treats, to visiting with each employee, to getting on top of so many beds with sick patients.........he knew. Often Casper would not want to leave a patient when the person was suffering so...8 times out of ten licking and acknowledging the troublesome and hurting area of the body. Yes he knew and he always paid attention to the people who needed it most; the very sick; the grieving families. So many tears of joy and appreciation, so many kisses and hugs, so much love and healing for all. The nurses even put his photo up on a hospital wall as a star among the medical surgical team...Casper, well he was a Hero…a little wirehaired fox terrier; saved from Md. Animal Control and deaths row.
And how about weekly going to Arden Courts and being with the Alzheimer’s patients! Wow there are endless stories of how his sweetness and attentiveness brought back countless memories from folks encumbered by stagnate brains. Some who hardly said a word......momentarily spoke sentences; remembering days so long ago. Residents unable to speak at all would hold his leash and reach down to pat his white fur with an all knowing love.
I could continue forever about the little dog that brought hope, love, devotion, companionship and effervescent sunshine 24 hours a day.
How lucky we have all been to have had the privilege to be with one of Gods special angels and messengers! And although he is physically not here; we each shall carry Casper in our hearts forever. He was so special; he simply knew.
I Love You Casper along with hundreds of appreciating souls. You made us truly appreciate the joys of life and the goodness in mankind. Now G-d is fortunate to have you among those he loves. I’m positive your spirit is continuing to glow!
From the heart with love and devotion!
