No news is ... no news

From Bo Bengtson, Vivi's breeder:

<<UPDATE AS OF FRIDAY, APRIL 21, 2006

There have been no new sightings of Vivi for several days. We know that the sightings won’t bring her back but they are proof that she’s around and hopefully doing OK. With no sighthings it’s difficult to keep the spirits up. The fact that none of Vivi’s immediate family or any volunteers have seen Vivi since she was lost on Feb. 15 makes us sometimes wonder if it’s really her people report having seen. However, some of the sightings back up each other, and Sam came in once again with her tracking dog who confirmed that it was indeed Vivi who had been in the areas she had been seen.

Jil’s fiancé Rick has been in New York all week, mainly hanging out on his own in the parks where Vivi is known to have been, hoping for a miracle. He also went up in a helicopter to survey the area, saw several other stray dogs but no Vivi, and got a feel for how vast the area she’s been in really is — at least 1,500 acres of interlocking parks and greenbelt. ...

    Thanks for your patience!

    Bo>>

Hello All,

Has anyone thought to look in Fort Totten? I don't know what's going on over there, but I think it's pretty much sitting in limbo until they can decide what they want to do with it. It's located right off the Cross Island in Bayside. Instead of going left onto Bell Blvd, you turn right into Fort Totten.

There's probably a million hiding places that a dog could use as a safe haven. There's also probably a bunch of small game for her to hunt easily enough. Between the buildings that could provide shelter and the lack of people, it seems like this could be an ideal place for a skittish dog. It's also not too far from College Point.

I'm willing to take a look myself if that's OK. I'm more of a lurker than a volunteer, unfortunately, but I may have some free time over the weekend.

Lisa E.

PS - I posted this in another thread but wasn't sure if it was the right place.

Did I beat you all to it? Am I the first person to post under this comment? If so...nah, nah, nah, nah, boo boo!!!!! TGIF - that's all I've got to say!

Okay, in all seriousness (sorry, I had just had to let it out). Diane, I sent another batch of flyers. Hopefully, you'll receive them soon. I hope the weather-people are wrong in their predictions and that your day is actually beautiful and sunny! Wish I could be there...

Darlene, happy belated b-day! Welcome back too! Catch ya all later...

Fort Totten has been briefed of Vivi Lisa. We really are trying to stay ahead of her. If you live in the area there's no harm in checking out where you can and keeping an eye open. Fort Totten itself is off limits ut the park is open to the public. Remember none of us has seen Vivi even though we must be near to her at least some of the time with everyone spreading out. Hopefully someday she will honor one of us.

Barbara-Jean

Was Sam there this week or was Bo talking about the last time.

I know it's far-fetched, but do you think it's possible that she could have made it over the Whitestone Bridge and into the Bronx? The Whitestone would be pretty easy for her to access from a side street. Plus it lets out onto a large park and golf course with a cemetery nearby.

Just a thought.

Again I have Rosa and Tina's address if anyone would like to send them a direct contribution? Did anyone get a chance to check on the price of the flyers they want to use? I have been away for awhile so I haven't checked in. I talked to them today and they have definite thoughts on what would be helpful- they like the advertising flyers which are delivered to mail boxes and they like the the flyers we print with the tear-offs because they think that is why some of the posters are being taken, so people can keep the phone number. They also like the posters in color because they get calls from people who then find out they are looking at the wrong color dog. Someone, they think Lois, made posters that are large that they like. By the way, I contacted them indirectly and was told to call them through a 3rd party and did not use the 877 number.

Anyway, they could use gas cards and such if you'd like to send a contribution to them I can't post the address here but I'll send it to you one at a time. That's it for now. I have never talked to them before and I can assure you they are nuts. :)

Right now I am in between my jealous Border Collie, Grace E and my good friend's Chihuahua/JRTX, Buddy- he had emergency surgery and hour before she had to go to the airport, so he's mine for now. I am squeezed between them.

Lastly this may be the Fort Totten that you are talking about but Gail thinks she could be on the military base and that could once again be in the same position as at JFK, with lots of places to hide and lots of food sources. On the other hand she thinks it could possibly be a good place to place a trap.

What are the chances of placing a trap on the military base.

Bo's post sure is heartbreaking. We need a sighting and I mean SOON

Who's the guy that has the stinky bait and how do we get in touch with him?

Gail,

I will try to find it. Will take awhile. Anybody else can help me on this.

Marty,

As far as I know, Fort Totten has been closed for quite a while and is being used as a park. There are parts that are restricted, but I don't know why.

I'm going to try to take a ride over there later and see if I see anything. It's not too far from me and it's a nice night. You never know...

Thanks Marty, I'll work it from another angle also. I think I know someone who doesn't post here that can help me.

Please let us know Lisa.

If a person can go over a bridge on foot - so can Vivi. She was chasing little wheels - like roller blades or skateboards and she may have followed someone or been picked up by someone who was on skates. I don't know the 'far away' - how far that is? She may be in a yard with a pool, lawn furniture, and a big fluffy cat.

Just wondering if there could possibly be any merit in it.

Will Barbara V, Meri-Lou, and Diane please check your e-mail and give me an opinion. There's certainly nothing on this posting to make me change my mind.
Lighting a candle at 9:00 DST.

One volunteer Gail - the Gail who has Chinese Cresteds and searches with her mom (a retired AKC judge)- has seen her 3 times. She searches for her every day. I also thought that Rosa saw her once drinking out of what was it Kissena Lake? I don't understand why Bo has said several times that no volunteer has seen her. I mean does he not know about those sightings or does he not believe that those were real sightings? or what? Just wondering of anyone knows the answer to that.

Don't have an answer for that Karen, but I suppose we can start a new sheet of paper and add it to the list.

Karen, I remember reading that about Rosa but no one ever said if she really did see her. We know for sure that Gail and her mother has seen her three times. Sounds like alot has been happening this week with Rick being here.

Sharon from Michigan, I left you an email with my home telephone number

Hello Girls, Just got back from a Birthday party and trying to catch up.. What is the final word on sending a donation to the " Correct people" I am getting mixed signals and want to make sure the "Correct people" get my donation.. If anyone can help look for or finds two Whippets in the Glen Allen, VA it will be greatly appreciated. The dogs got out the fence yard a few hours ago and their owners need help. Elizabeth Stycos should be contacted if you have any information on these Whippets. Both dogs are chipped and one is a rescue dog around a year and half (Fawn Brindle and White). The other I am breeder on and is a eight month old puppy (Blue Brindle). Their names are Vinny and Sophie. If you have any information on these dogs please contact Elizabeth at 804 514-9634.

Thank you all for your help findings these Whippets.

Is it me or does it feel like were some under ground network trying to save Vivi and not get caught doing it, for fear we'll get in Big Trouble!

BINGO Rosa. I am thinking the same thing. Hey whatever it takes to get our girl home. Now we have two more whippets running the streets. Have we been sinning to much for God to be putting all this hard work on us mentually and physically

Hey when ViVi is caught by our local searchers and goes back home to California I think those searchers will called the rescue group out of NY and people from all over will be calling them for their services because they rock. The dog rescue name for the group will be the WHIP-IT GIRLS

Thank You Marty!! I am glad I am not alone on this one. VIVA LA VIVI!!!!!

I feel our prayers our keeping her going and out of harms way! Will kick them up even more!

Julie, have the person go to the website and check out the recommended steps to take when a dog(s) has(have) been lost...

Two more Whippets..good grief..this must be the year of the Whippet.

I was not in favor of advertising Rick's visit and I still believe that decision to be correct. However, if Vivi is not sighted with confirmation within the next two days or so, I would suggest at the very least running an ad.
I did see that there are a great number of available newspapers, and obviously it would not be financially feasible to place an ad in all of them. Choose one daily AND weekly that best fits the coverage area of where she is "suspected" to be located- and RUN THAT AD. I was stunned to read that no ad was placed at all. It is possible that she might be with people who honestly do not know who she is- after all, there has, to my knowledge been few or no stories about her in the past few weeks.
When she was being regularly sighted, it was somewhat understandable and possible that the activity was scaring her away, although (and I'm not certain who made the post) but, I agree that no volunteer would do anything to purposely frighten her. And, although she has proven herself to be quite resourceful and intelligent, I doubt that she is able to distingush from a "stranger" eating a sandwich in the park from a volunteer who to her is also a "stranger" engaging in the same sandwich-eating activity.
With that said, in many ways, the press can be a very good friend to a lost person or animal. I know from experience that people LOVE animals and Love reading about them. Animal stories, happy and sad, sell oodles of newspapers.
FYI- The week of May 6-11 is "Be Kind to Animals Week" and papers will be clammering for animal-related stories. God, I hope and pray this little one is found and resting in her comfortable California by that time, but just in case she is still "on the lam," that week will be perfect for several BIG FEATURES on Vivi!!!
I am located South of Philadelphia and have already been contracted for the front page of our little weekly paper for two animal-related stories; one on a little puppy that was rescued from the brink of death and the other about Vivi's plight. There wil also be several photographs of local shelter aniumals waiting for that special family. For me- that front page will be a labor of love.
I write of Vivi in my weekly column and receive upwards to 25 E mails a week from local residents asking about her. So, people are interested- even those hundreds of miles away.
Some of what I've read today has been upsetting- and confusing. My head still reels at what was said to Lois, who stepped to the plate and out of love for Vivi, took on a time-consuming task. I also can't comprehend why suggestions and offers for additional volunteers has been dismissed by those known as "the powers that be" on this blog. Rosa, Tina, Irene, Darlene, Kathy, Diane and all the foot soldiers are exhausted and need help.
The old saying, "If it ain't broke; don't fix it," often applies, but if it is broken, that needs to be recognized and certainly needs to be fixed.
Everything that everyone has done should be recognized and appreciated, but possibly a change in strategy is seriously needed- and FAST! Evern if that means a change in leadership, such as hiring a professional.

Julie...
I sent you an email with Karin Goin's 24/7 phone number (866-251-1599). Her web site is www.missingpetpi.com

She does consultations over the phone and if my dog were missing, she would be the very first call I would make. If I'm not mistaken, a "session" costs $65 and if you read through her web site, there are a lot of items she covers (who to call immediately, what to do, etc.).

Please keep us posted about Vinny and Sophie...

STINKY BAIT!

I will handle the L& F ads in the Queens Courrier and Queens Gazette. They are in the Bayside and Queens area, and are available free in banks, restaurants, supermarkers, etc. I don't know what NYC folks call them, but in Michigan they're called shoppers. The ads are reasonable(I've wasted more on shoes), and will only contain information found on the flyers. The big difference- they could be used to line bird cages, but they can't be torn down. As this is "approved text" I have no problem with doing this. It shouldn't take an act of Congress to do this.
I will be back later with a non-"idle" prayer. (If this makes no sense, it means you were fortunate enough to miss last night's blog.
IRENE- It's a funny thing, but somehow I don't have any Easter chocolate let (a little Pinot Grigio), but no chocolate...

Thank you Tara, I printed it out. So they have the bait and are sitting on it, I forgot that.

Wow, I meant to say "left"-- and I didn't have any wine.

Sharon- Sometimes weekly papers publish a "News in Brief" section, which is totally free. It's used as a service to the community and helps to sell papers.
Worth a try! I am more than willing to help you.

Does anyone know if ViVi was insured for loss?

Excellent website on every phase of searching for a lost dog:

Father God, Heavenly Shepherd, you have placed within each of us, human, and animal companion alike, a divine spark which unites us with you.(For did you not breathe each of us into life?) Awaken that spark within Vivi, Biggie, and Sniffles! Listening to Your voice lead them to the person, who also hears Your voice. Let that person do only what is best for our small friends. The world is so cruel Father, hold them, (and us), in Your gentle and tender embrace. Use this challenging circumstance to increase our faith in You, no matter what its tradition or expression. Let no one human or animal be lost to you. Bring us all home. Heal the people and animals mentioned on this site, and let them live to Praise you. Shine forth in the many compassionate people who are serving as Your hands and feet, bless them. Unite us in Your efforts for these animals. and for our own animal companions. Let us put all quarrels aside. You reside in Your people's praise! Send us healing sleep, knowing YOU ARE IN CHARGE! Amen.
'Night all.

LORETTA, PLEASE SEND ME THE INFORMATION YOU MENTIONED! THANKS SO MUCH!

Hey people, boy you never know which blog to go to after being out for a few hours, Hey tara, did you try to call me? sorry i could not get to you to give you supplies, I got home a little while ago and am still getting the chill out, Hey Gail. Dont worry tara we will get you stuff, We will load up tomorrow to make sure we are packed to the gills, ive been out since 7:30 and felt like i've been around the world posting my flyers. I'm ready to put my picture next to vivis I get lost so much. Tomorrow another day bright and early 9am boy who has time to sleep these days, I better bring a big umbrella for tomorrow and raincoat for vivi. Oh Lisa sorry I didn't get back to you ran out the door, you can't drive into Ft Totten but you sure can walk thru it, park in the lot outside, go past the guard and go to the right you will see the pond in there, and along the perimeter you see all the reeds along the water that connect to bayside marina
great place to be a few days and then you could see why no sightings. Did you ask about the bridge, we know for sure she did not cross over. Shes making her happy circle, she better make that circle smaller so i can ring her neck when I see her (heehee) Have to maybe get some sleep before tomorrow, Its like having 2 jobs here.

Debbie

How can you be sure she didn't pass over the bridge and also is it possible that Vivi could get pass the guard and not be seen.

Have a good nights' sleep, Debbie. A great big Thank You to you and all the other foot soldiers for trekking in all sorts of places. That fort sounds interesting. I hope her circle gets smaller soon.
Which gas cards will be able to be used? I sent a Staples card and if we need money for the ads, who should we send to. Will say prayers tomorrow for our lost pups. Susan

Hope you had a happy, contented birthday sweet girl - happy 4th birthday Vivi

Check out Gale the animal communicator's latest post on Rain Rain go away blog - does anyone know the answers to her questions

HI everyone----it's the professional psychic here---I need to know in which direction to clarify the movement---the original cemetery to College Point and that cemetery---is CP north to north-west of the oroginal cemetery Vivi was hanging around for those past apx 2 weeks? I am hoping Lisa E. goes out and checks out the "quiet" areas where there are tall street light poles and a more industrial-type building near by---that may be the treatment plant in the distance. Like I said in prior posts---Vivi would periodically have her nose to the ground and be on the move----Right now you can see a faint fog in the amber-tinted light comong from these lights on teh tall poles. I still remain confident that Vivi will be found and I keep receiving confirmation symbols in the energy fields I work in so hang in there----I don't see many posters up in this direction. Keep you posted.

And as I read through the other posts from earlier today----WOW---as we used to say in project meeting that would get really hairy and tense---the shit was slinging and hitting the walls! Now that frustration has been vented---back to our senses :)Group work can be REALLYYYYYYYYYY frustrating---angering---and down right red-hot button pushing, disfunctional FUN!!! If you're in to that sort of thing. But we really are at limitations because of the human factor---and with the realization of "seperate realities"---you can have 10 people in a meeting and have 10 different takes of the final decisions that group made after the meeting is over! It's part of that filter of control that everyone wants to have and is used to and some are more challenging than others---and there may be some particular information that some are not privy to and some other people don't say things because they can't. It's all people things in having to work on a common reality----from all the seperate ones. Vivi will be back---

I have heard that Vivi was sighted twice on her birthday! Finally

Rosa and Tina like Exxon Mobil. I have their address.

Karen Thank you for the good news!! I needed that fix before going to work. GOOD LUCK TODAY!! VIVI LA VIVI!! Rosa in michigan..

That is a good sign. Maybe she smells Ricks scent and is looking for him.

Vivi wants to go home with Rick, let's all will her to him. Take a minute after reading this and say to yourself, Vivi find Rick, Vivi find Rick. I am not psychic but I do get good vibes every now and then. We have to help her find Rick, she really does want to get home now. I don't comment much here, I do keep reading and once again want to say, if I ever needed my faith restored in people, this is the place to be. Thank you to all the amazing people and lets all think positive today, Vivi will be found and she will go back to California.
Regina in New York

HI everyone!!!! rhis is great news about the sightings being called in---remember----this is getting closer to the final shift where Vivi comes back in----trusts that person and comes in. Keep the visualizations and meditations and all happening now---they are working and Vivi is in teh process of "thinking" (as dogs think---not as people think) about her "imprints" and wanting to match them up now----it's been too long from returning from a show and no familiar faces to match yet----but she will "light" upon that one person----and it is feeling very close----but stay calm and hold that energy space patiently---it's one of our human lessons in all tis---how to stay calm, cool, and (according to tthis blog---let the shit hit the wall now and then with frustration and flying inuendos---and then get back to the real reason we are all gathered for this common project of helping this dog---and all the others too). She really has been covering a lot of ground when she travels and she moves day and night--- later. Keep it focused!

Someone told me the best newspapers to place ads in would be Newsday, New York Post & Daily News(Queens Edition. The bigger the better. Can someone in that area please check on prices and lets try to get those ads in the paper

When Debbie said last night she knew for sure ViVi had not crossed over that bridge I had a gut feeling a sighting had been called in. Now we need that trap and stinky bait to get her little tail caught.

Since Rick is still here, do you think he would mind be coated with stinky bait? Seriously though, I agree that its time for some kind of a big step to be taken, like using the bait.

We need a new plan and not Honi's plan. Someone was wanting the number yesterday on the stinky bait. That is what we need.

I think Gail in Ct found the info. Seems to me there is something happening under the table so to speak.

I think so G in Maine

I just want someone in the family to see ViVi so they will know it really is her. I wonder sometime if ViVi hears Rick calling her name will she recognize his voice.

Hi folks,
The 2 possible sightings of her last night, were about 30 blocks apart within about an hour of each other. The first one I'm not clear on the details, the second one was of a dog running at about 30 miles an hour.
GALE THE ANIMAL COMMUNICATOR: The Water Treatment plant in College Point is north of the cemetery she had been at 3 weeks ago. It is the type that runs underground with wide open slightly hilly spaces covered with lawn with venting poles (which are not very tall)coming through the ground. I think what you might have been picking up are the park areas that run under the bridges, I was there last night.....
If last night's sightings were her, then she is still north of the cemetery, however now she is way east of College Point. GALE listen closely...if there is any way for you and your focus group(s) to block her from crossing water, NOW is the time to do it! ALSO, she is becoming too confident regarding major highways. From what I saw last night, I'm not so sure she's just crossing over them via neighborhood roads, understand? Pull her away from them if you can asap, pull her back to the safe haven of cemetery if you can.
I got home about 2 hours ago. I've been out looking for her since 8:30 last night. The only reason I'm still awake is because my neck was killing me (slipped discs), but I'm so totally exhausted and still feel so chilled that I'm going back under the covers. Will post more later.

I just read on the whippet list that the two whippets in Virginia Julie wrote about were captured 5 miles from home! The Greyhound people were a great help in the capture. Two down, one to go....three's a charm. Come on Vivi, go to Rick NOW!!

Hi everyone----consider it done---we are now holding her to NOt crossing anywater areas---- this is getting very close not guys I want you to know this so I hope Rick stays longer and keeps his schedule flexible---cant' do people schedule her---gotta use Vivi schedule and if she is in an area and holding tight again (great) she does cover a lot of ground and may wind up there again north of the original place----But we are also linking the energies of Vivi to Rick since she considers Rick another dog pal not a person like Jil or Bo and playtime with another dog---the Rick dog pal at that---would be a less stressful link for her at this point---she's been out very long and that would mean some discipline but Rick is play time and another dog---so it's different to her---come on Rick craw ehr in man!---I mean dog guy! :)

OKay visualizers and meditators---hold Vivi to the central area where she is now and keep er away from teh highways and waterways---be calm and centered and breathe solid breathes that move your thoughts of the magic moment happening and happening NOW happening NOW "come on vivi---time to come in---Come in NOW Vivi come in now girl!" Will be holding extra deep today---and will keep it going now. I have felt she is very close to that magic moment---it's got a chance to be REALLY soon. but hold tight and relaxed so the energies don't get all screwy with too much excitement --- stay centered and calm and we keep doing our things that we have been doing and fine tune the focus--- another stray cat showed up yesterday too so we are attracting big time! We are all doing good work so we just need to hang in there and not "react"---and not worry. This is a process remember---a project that has a process to it. Later

I am so happy they caught those two whippits. Alright Vivi Rick is there and he wants to take you home to mommy.

Diane - You truly work hard at this quest, but please be careful about putting yourself in danger as well. This sounds like a very deserted area for a lady to be out in all night (probably by herself).

I also fear someone might read these blogs and show up in one of these areas one night for the wrong reason. You never know who could be monitoring this blog for the wrong reasons. Wish I were there to help by going with you. Take something like pepper spray with you please. Just be very careful everyone while searching for Vivi and the others. Vivi would not want you to endanger yourself even for her. God bless and protect all of you.

I just had to share these quotes a very kind lady sent to me today. Read and enjoy. They are wonderful I thought.

Debbie ... TY for getting supplies! I can come to you tomorrow to pick them up ... meet you out "in the field" (if you are going posting tomorrow) ... or whatever you want to do. I really want to post tomorrow, especially since she's been seen twice. The more fliers are out, the more possibility of a PHONE CALL when she is sighted again!!!

Vivi baby happy birthday! You rock!

Hey tara I got spplies just got in a little while ago call me, I can possiblt meet you somewhere in the middle, I am loaded with flyers.

Diane Morris

Hey It's Debbie send me an e-mail if you see this post it's about the treatment plant and Gales posting, and last nights sighting since I covered alot of areas last night looking.

I will be out lookking tomorrow and Monday hope I get the privilege of running into some of you.

Hey Deb....decided to blow work off and go out. I'm bad!Stapler is loaded and will be leaving shortly. Its too cold and nasty out there for a wiley whippet with no coat on to be out in the elements. Have to at least try.Irene is out with her neighbor kids stuffing mailboxes in the houses along where you got muddy as I type this. Get my drift? Will call you later fellow poster peon!

Hey Audrey, Linda is on her way out now, just talked to her, give her a call later you got her number, she will tell you where she is, areas we talked about today. She will probably be out there for a while. Dress warm, I came home frozen last night and wet today. Poster peon where did you ever come up with that.Later gater.

Hi again---here's a really appropriate one---"Dogs make you go outside and learn that it's really abnormal to stay inside all the time" !!! No author.

Working on two areas that fit the building diescriptions I "saw" last night. We are checking on then now. Hang in there.

and here's a good one---my guy, Steven, has been going out in teh mornings to walk and do his Qi Gong in the open green area next to a really old cemetery down around one of the roads near where we live, and he doesn't know why he decided to do his meditations there or his Qi Gong--but he was just "drawn" to the area. He shared that with me today---and then I shared with him that we have ben holding Vivi to an area that is a park near a cemetery!!! and for the last several weeks. He knows we are doing all this but he didn't put 2 and 2 together that he was finding himself drawn to the same sort of area!

We are definately working magic with our focus group!!! Great energy everyone let's keep it calm and centered and very loving and open arms of the Angels calling for loving hugs and puppy kisses for her! We are really close. Let's be open to the moment being soon. :)

Gale, please stay with it now and us. If the moment is that close please don't go away. Are some of the "foot soldiers" actually checking the area to try to match what you saw?

Sharon from Michigan, just wanted to check with you about the lost and found adds in the Courrier and the Gazette. Have you taken them out yet and if so will they start on Monday 4/24/06 for a week? Also please email with the exact verbage you used for those adds and I will check with other newspapers in the area to see what it would cost to do the same in theirs

HI everyone---keeping tabs on the action---things seem to be getting closer now---I feel Vivi very close and have shifted again---this time I am going into the psychic energy work that I do at a distance---I am distance-wise calling her in and drawing her to me as I am energetically (we call in teletransportation)---so I have an energetic body in NY now---anyway----I am drawing her in toward someone that physically Vivi will trust and am getting her in the mode of surrendering into this person. there are people checking things out so plase stay calm and don't go off the wall---just know that by the time things hit the news it's already been done---this sorta gives you guys an idea of how it is when you know things psychically and you have to wait for everyone else to catch up because they don't follow the "signs" so it takes them longer to "get it". By the time those people "get it" we that already "got it" along time ago are on to other things and it's old news to us. so hang in there please and keep the visuals in play till we get work Vivi is in custody!!! Remember---she's quick, limber, and very energized and being held in the protective light so she is really getting around---just like back at home. But she is getting ready to shift---be patient! Be calm! And contain the energy from being scattered---that all helps the efforts focus better when the blog can do the same. thankx everyone helping out---trust the process here and keep it stready. :)
