Search coordinator Bonnie Folz sends this report:
<<Vivi update 9/5/06
It's been almost one month now that there have been no sightings of Vivi. Don't know what to make of this, but the possibilities are endless.
Rick Patterson made another trip to New York, took a red-eye in on August 22, picked up a rental car and went straight out to Forest Park to start laying down his scent, re-establish some contacts and scope out areas of interest Vivi may be drawn to.
We were fortunate to have Laura Totis stop by with her tracking dogs on August 25 after she finished working another case upstate New York. Though her dogs didn't pick up any scent around the pond area, they did show some interest in another part of the park. It is in this area that Rick found stool similar to that of Vivi's and took it as a sample. Not sure what he was going to do with this, and unsure if any info could be made with the sample, he asked my veterinarian, Dr Theresa Paoloni of Vet Care Unlimited, to see if there was a possibility of finding out what had been eaten as there was some sort of fur mixed in.
Vivi volunteer and Flyer Queen, Diane Tamm and some out of state volunteers, took further steps to find out if there was any way we could have the poop DNAed. After numerous phone calls, the AKC was contacted and agreed to test the stool to see if in fact it does belong to Vivi. The AKC's lab has been shipped the sample and we are awaiting the results. If this comes back as a positive for Vivi, this would be better than any sighting we've had to date. Amazing what can be done with DNA these days.
Thanks again to Michael McCann, who also made a trip down to NYC to help with the search efforts and again assured us that we are doing everything, and then some, to find Vivi.
Karin Goin was scheduled to come in on August 29 with a few tracking teams but had to cancel at the last minute due to her dogs becoming ill. I hope they have since recovered and are all okay.
I've been told another tracking team, Harry Oakes, may be coming in to help find Vivi, I don't have many particulars at this time and will forward them along as I can.
I continue to monitor two feeding stations, and Vivi team members continue to check various areas and keep the flyers posted. Rick did get what he originally thought was a white dog feeding at one of the stations, and the possibility came up that the sightings of August 7 could have been of that dog. As the next few days followed, it became clear that this dog, a boxer mix, was not white, but tan in color with no other markings. The camera or card reader had originally washed out the dog's color.
We had a group of nine Vivi volunteers gather last week at the bridle path on the east side of Forest Park to check the trails. There are just too many to check, as the marked trails have numerous side trails leading off of them. All trails are through heavily wooded areas, and we did find quite a few spots Vivi could use as dens.
After purchasing a Bionic Ear, Rick continued to wander the park and cemeteries trying to tune out the crickets and listen for the possibility of puppies. He returned home on Friday.
Rosa and Tina have returned from their vacation, and I'm sure will be back in action immediately. They never really took a vacation from searching for Vivi, as they continued to monitor the 800 number, receive updates and make phone calls.
Though I've not been able to send weekly updates, please know that the search effort continues. Not much to report, as everything has been pretty much status quo with no sightings. We are all doing what we can, and we continue to keep the faith.
Regards,
Bonnie>>

I would like to say that if the DNA doesn't match, I hope that the search for Vivi does not stop. I think that since the dog was lost because of human error, then it is only right to keep trying and looking until poor Vivi is found. She must be so scared and alone out there. It really upsets me to think that she may have had puppies, who knows what will happen to them or her. Why is it that the rest of us have to get our dogs fixed, but some people feel the right to let their dogs have puppies. I wish that Vivi had been fixed, but it's too late for that, I just hope that she will be found and I think that her owners should not stop trying, no matter how long it takes.
Lorik:
Never fear, they won't give up on Vivi.
I can assure you that we are ALL upset and worried.
the "rest" of us get our dogs "fixed", usually, but show dogs have to be intact! Check a site on showing dogs.
Bonnies post gives you many "hints" as to what has been done and is still being done to find Vivi.
(o:
I don't think any of us will give up the search. Vivi was an active show dog, and as such, she could not be fixed. Unlike with cats, you cannot show dogs that are fixed. Additionally, it seems that her owners were very responsible in making sure there were no unwanted puppies. The owners were not responsible in any way for the fact that Vivi escaped -- that responsibility lies squarely with whoever was on the tarmac that evening and opened Vivi's crate, probably in an effort to take the dog.
Lorik: We, the bloggers, will never give up on Vivi and that is why it's so important for Harry Oakes to come. Frankly, next to finding Vivi, our goal now is to raise money to bring Harry here.it will be very costly but we can do it. Ruby is correct, you cannot show a dog who has been altered in any way and no one could have forseen this awful scenario. If you possibly can, please send a donation to Lois Baker so that Harry can come. He might possibly be Vivi's last chance to be reunited with her family.
How can we stop? The forward momentum is too powerful at this point!
P.S. I just got a call from the vet. She said the tumors on the back of Tucker's leg are "probable" lipomas (sp) She said they could not be 100% sure because I just went with the needle biopsies but I’m thinking this is awesome news. Maybe when I gather up the courage to put him under for his teeth cleaning I’ll have them removed and biopsied “for real”. I’m just such a chicken when it comes to anesthesia… Thanks everyone for the positive vibes and prayers!
National Call-In Day for Horses is tomorrow! A vote on the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (H.R. 503) is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7. Your help is needed to permanently move American horses beyond the reach of slaughterhouse butchers.
Last year, almost 100,000 American horses suffered and died in the United States in foreign-owned slaughterhouses so that their flesh could be flown to Europe and Asia for human consumption. We must send a clear signal to the world that our horses are not here to be slaughtered for food and we do not want them on the chopping block for foreign diners.
Here's what you can do to help:
1. Make the call Sept. 6. Call your U.S. Representative, at (202) 225-2815, or call the Congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121. If you're not sure what to say, try this: "I am a constituent and I am calling to ask that the Representative please protect American horses from slaughter and support H.R. 503, the Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. I also urge you to oppose any amendments to H.R. 503. I am very concerned about American horses and I don't want them slaughtered."
Made my call!
Great!
Here's another clip:
The Thoroughbred Times has this article on the vote for tomorrow: Close vote predicted on horse slaughter bill, excerpt:
"I think it's changing by the moment," said Charles Stenholm, who was the ranking Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee for six years. "It's going to be a very close vote. There's no question about that."
So these calls can help, perhaps.
Another good petition to Stop the Abuse of Farm Animals During Transport. Please sign this Petition as well. Thanks.

Don't forget to sign the petition for Duke, the Pitbull..He's a good boy and doesn't deserve to die. Any contributions will help pay his attorney fees and the $4,500 in shelter fees where Duke has been for over 2 years.. www.SaveDuke.homestead.com/
Also:::don't forget to write letters regarding the heinous acts against Otis, the Greyhound. I'm still working on putting this on the petition site, but having a little trouble! Dukes abuser needs to be punished!!!!!
Cathy, I'm happy about Tuckers news. I also have a problem and worry a lot when either of my Whippets have to have anesthesia! It's the mommy worries!
/O;
I placed my call regarding the bill against the slaughter of horses, too. Please call your representatives! Let them know that it's important.
Ok Kathleen - I signed the farm animal petition too - I am becoming quite the activist :)
Hi Lois....That's great news about Tucker! I'm so happy for you! :-)
I contacted my congressman Patrick Kennedy several weeks ago about HR503. He is one of the Sponsers of the bill and I received a very nice personal letter from him.
No checks today but I'm sure I'll have a stack tomorrow! Who knows...if we are lucky, Vivi will be found before we need Harry and we can mail the money back! Wouldn't that be awesome? I am such an optimist...
Lois great news about Tucker, I knew he would be
okay. Whippets always seem to get those skin
"thingies'" on them. My vet always chose not
to remove them, because he said they were not
cancerous. Such happy news in this world of sadness
right now. I am just very down this week over
Vivi, Steve Irwin, and my sudden lack of money
( I am a realtor and as you all know the market
has crashed ) Yikes, what am I to do now !!!
On another note, on the whippet list tonight they
announced that Bonnie would no longer be giving
updates on Vivi. I hope she is not giving up
the search, that would be devastating.
Lord, we need some good news !!!
SueG - And I thought it was just me having a really "down" week! I feel the same way. And if another politician (including Bush) comes on the TV and says the economy is in a good shape I just may become a screaming maniac myself. If you read the news about the old, fat, gray-headed woman in Memphis with the Chi/JRT going crazy, you will know that is me! I wish you good luck. At least the market doesn't affect the number of people acquiring HIV. The number seems to be growing each day. That keeps me busy at St. Jude.
WE ALL NEED A VIVI SIGHTING OF THAT PRETTY LITTLE FACE TO MAKE US FEEL BETTER! At least I think I have found two more little rat terrior fur babies a good forever home this week. My friend Amanda (Camp4Paws) and her son Ryan may be adopting these babies. What blessed little boogers they will be. I know they will be well taken care of and loved forever! If anything ever happens to me, Amanda will be adopting my Tinkerbell for me.
We all just need to keep praying, hoping, and most of all believing in our hearts that God will be answering our prayers.
Martha, hope the back is better my dear. And Kathy, my heart is breaking for you - I pray Bowdee will find his way home soon sweetie.
Sharon,
Any news on the lab? It just breaks my heart when I think of her being on a chain 24/7. Maybe the owner could go to the vets and let the people know there that she is looking for a loving home with a fenced in backyard for her to run around in. Keep us posted.
So if Bonnie doesn't give updates, who will do it?
Thats not a good thing for people on the blog. It's hard enough having to wait for an update, but with none coming if Bonnie quits, how can we expect help in getting Harry here? She hasn't picked a good time to drop the updates! I hope she hasn't.
Ruby, I emailed you and it came back.
I believe in spaying and neutering Big Time, but dogs can't be shown unless they're intact...Ironically, if or when Vivi has puppies that may well be the thing that allows her to be recovered
I have a couple people considering taking Kristy (the lab). Pray that someone makes the decision to keep her by Saturday. The owner told my friend that they want the dog back if she hasn't found another owner by then. The owners don't intend to change their ways however--- the dog will be in the backyard 24/7 on a chain. Kristy also had not been vetted in over three years, and my friend did all of that. Unfortunately, Kristy is not good with cats (her only flaw), and most people we know have indoor cats, also. (The owners only surrendered Kristy to my friend because they thought there would be an owner right away.)Pray hard.
Kathy, Bowdee is near the top of my list--hang in there.
Dear God, protect and bless all beings that breathe, keep all evil from them, and let them sleep in peace. Amen.

Thank you Sharon for your thoughts on Bowdee - he still has not found his way back to me and I'm so afraid that he may never
Excuse me for my ignorance - but Bo thanks Rosa, Tina and Honi and all the other volunteers - can someone tell me what Honi does or has done or is doing? I'm either losing it or what she does doesn't make it to the blog I read
Kathy,
My thinking exactly on Honi.
That was my first thought ladies, I was afraid to post it, Just seeing "her" name at the top of the tankfull list, made me want to puke!!
Hey everyone - Over the many months of knowing each of you, I have shared so many things. I have realized how many people have worries in addition to our little wandering gypsy named Vivi.
I have created a Candle Group for some of the people I know about, and the others I do not know about. It is called JOBS. There are numerous wonderful people unemployed that we know and probably do not know, so please light a candle and pray for these kind people to find the employment opportunities of their dreams.
Joanne and I were praying hard, and just look where she is - working again after quite a while.
Thanks everyone for your love and concern for others.
Love Kathleen and Tinkerbell
(Sharon and Betty, could you add a paragraph in your prayers for these and all the others experiencing this and the changes in their jobs as well. Thanks.)
WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? maybe what ever is left in that fund could be just what we need just to get Harry Oaks here, ASAP! along with our new donations added to it. So sad if that were the case.
Why does this feel so close, but yet so far. Ladies we need to pull together for Vivi's sake, we need to be her voice. Lets do what we can and get those donations to Lois! even if it's only $5.00 or 10.00 every little bit will help in the long run. Lets not be here in Feb,looking back on a year later. I know I won't be able to emotionally.
MADISON UPDATE:
http://updates.princessmadison.org
--------------------
September 6
There have been ups and downs since my last update. I know that there can't be all ups, but it's so hard when there are downs.
It started last week when we went to the ear, nose and throat doctor. Madison had kicked her last infection and was sounding very clear. We arrived at the doctor's office with expectations of a few comments and another appointment before he would even think of taking out the trach. I was wrong. The doctor came in and examined her. He asked how she was doing neurologically. I told him there have been some improvements and told him of her smiles and the isolated vocalization incident. His next words stunned me. "So, are you ready to get rid of the trach?" WHAT?? YES! I have been ready, but part of me has come to be comforted by the fact that I can suction out any secretions she gets. But, quickly a smile came to my face. I told him that I thought she would do really well without the trach. She has been using her passi-muir valve (one way valve) successfully and seems to be swallowing a lot. He finished up his exam by putting a scope down her nose to examine her windpipe and vocal chords. Everything looked good so he sent me on my way with instructions to schedule a swallow study with the GI doctor. I was so excited! This is a huge step in the right direction.
That high was short lived when she came down with yet another upper respiratory infection. The swallow study is on hold until she is well again. I know that infections in the lungs will always be a battle and that fact sometimes feels like it can defeat me. I desperately want Madison to not have any struggles. I know these struggles will make her stronger though and she's not going through it alone. She has so many people who love her and she has God on her side. So, I am going to try my hardest to always be positive and know that she is being healed.
This week we also went to the GI doctor. Everything looks good on her end. We did however alter her feedings. The four 8 ounce cans of pediasure she eats has made her EIGHT pounds heavier since her last appointment. That's entirely too much of a weight gain. So, she decided to have Madison eat 5 ounces of the can and add 3 ounces of water to give her the 8 ounces. This is about the amount of food a one year old eats, but it should allow her to have a more normal weight gain.
The last thing I have to update on is either an up or a down, but only the Lord knows what it is. I have talked in the past about the jerky movements Madison has. This seems to have increased lately. She has a very strong startle reflex and after she throws her limbs up and holds it for a few seconds she relaxes and then goes into a series of mini startle reflexes about 5 seconds apart. It's very strange to watch. She even has this twitching of her muscles (tongue included) in her sleep sometime. I have been told that this could be the brain trying to retrain itself and I think I'll hang on to that since worrying will do me no good.
Please continue to pray for Madison's recovery and the strength of our family. This is the hardest time in my life and if someone would have told me a year ago that this was going to happen, I would have thrown up and never imagined I could live. But, thanks to the grace of God I AM living. My princess needs me to be strong. I may not feel strong and I still have a lot of really low moments, but thank you God for carrying me along this journey!

I am a little disturbed by Bo's message. Seems like everyone is giving up. I realize how hard it's been on everyone, but I can't understand how they can just check out. I continue to be very concerned.
I am praying that someone takes the lab and gives this dog a good home. Could someone at least foster this dog until a home can be found? It's simply cruel and abusive to leave a dog on a chain like that.
There are many people involved in the Vivi search for the past almost 7 months who deserve to be thanked by "the family" and, in my opinion, Honi is most certainly NOT one of them.
People on this blog, as we speak, are struggling to put their hard earned nickels and dimes together to be able to bring a Search and Rescue expert here as a last ditch attempt to save Vivi. To the best of my knowledge, Honi has access to and could roll whatever funds are left from our last fund raiser into this effort and help us tremendously. Not a word is said or attempt made to help us...consequently, Vivi continues to suffer.
To me, it is just beyond understanding and shows a lack of compassion for a dog they claim to love.
I'm thinking - for what that's worth - that the money in Honi's care is no longer there - or at least - available - so we should just forget about it. We need to continue to dig deep and raise the money again to get Harry and Valorie here to find Vivi - then when she is found - hand her over to the owners that so gratefully think that Honi is working wonders. I just don't see how Darlene, Debby, Monica, Rosa, Tina and all of you other foot soldiers that are busting your butts can keep going with this kind of thanklessness from them. Sure they say they are grateful for all that they do - but if they were truly thankful, wouldn't they be helping a little harder with things. Maybe pitching in a little so that we can get Harry there sooner? I don't understand why they can't help fund the search for THEIR dog.
I completely agree with what's been said regarding Honi and the lack of further updates from Bonnie. That is why having Harry Oakes come is so important. To leave Vivi swinging in the wind at this point is disgraceful. Even if Harry does not find Vivi he will certainly be able to give us some answers. The longer we wait the less chance we have of finding her.PLEASE trust Terri when she promises checks will be returned if Harry doesn't come.if Vivi is out there it's up to us to help find her.
The piece from Bo was not posted here and Bonnie updated as of yesterday. Perhaps that is more about Bo than Bonnie. Bonnie said here "Though I've not been able to send weekly updates, please know that the search effort continues." I wouldn't make too much of that crosspost. I also imagine Bo's thanks to Honi has to do with dog show politics. I wouldn't waste energy on that either. IMO
I do believe that Karma will come around for some of these uncaring and selfish people and I truly hope it is sooner rather than later.
Please, everyone, whatever you can send to fund this rescue effort, please don't wait. Every day that we have not reached the minimum of what we need, is another day that Harry isn't here. With every passing day, we risk losing his services to another assignment far away and for a long period of time...
Whatever you can send, no matter how little, please do it today. This is a no-risk investment in saving our little whippet. If we can't fund the trip, your money will be returned...that is a total promise. A bitter lesson was learned last time around and it will NOT happen again. I was snuckered along with everyone else, but I know how firm the promise and determination is this time.
TRUST, please, and help Vivi NOW!
Thanks much for listening.
When I read Bo's message, my first thought was::::
WHAT ABOUT THE WEENIE LADIES AND SOME OF THE OTHERS?
Give credit where credit is due..Most disturbing!
I hope you guys can understand how important it is to get Harry here and send whatever you can afford. Forget the money we HAD, KEYWORD: HAD..Send whatever amount you can afford, we need it to get Vivi back.
We don't have forever to collect this money! Harry could take on another job! Vivi needs us! I agree the family should be helping not just giving an ok to the search...
Most disturbing...sigh
Where is our weenie queen and her beer ladies in waiting??????
Darlene is on a much deserved vacation for two weeks I don't know about the others
We're not giving up and that's all that matters.
Thanks Marty - I musta missed that info - and you are right - very much deserved
Hold on folks, let's not jump the gun!
I believe Bonnie was saying that weekly updates and a large commitment of time was not possible, but no one has said anything about giving up totally on Vivi. The posters are going up, people are still here offering hope, the Vivi hotline continues, the poop is being analyzed (thanks Diane and others for this), etc.
Listen to Karen. I believe her logic is right on target about the Honi comment and other things.
Bonnie has promised to update on the blog if there are any breakthroughs or new info. That is a fair deal to me. Rosa and Tina are still there with the Vivi hotline. So all IS well in Vivi world. We need to stay calm and not start "slinging mud" around. We need to trust our prayers to be answered!
Hope alone will not get Harry Oakes here, and all is NOT well in the Vivi world! No one is "SLINGING MUD" and I really take offense at that.
It is time to look at the facts and our situation in a realistic way. I see people doing that calmly and with great thought and also donating anything they can to save Vivi....sure doesn't look like mud to me!
I have set aside more money to contribute for Vivi and I did ask Terri a question, that she may not be able to answer, and I realize that we have to trust Harry's approach but still I am hoping to have a few questions answered.
Are there plans for Harry to search out other parks and cemeteries that have not been posted if a fresh scent of Vivi's isn't found in Forest Park area? And if so, which ones?
I would like to know more about the proposed search approach before I donate more money. Has a search plan been formulated yet or is this a detail to be developed at a later date?
Will he for example, search out water holes first in the parks and cemeteries or will he work the perimeter first or the back of the cemeteries trying to pick up a scent along the edges, before intensive searches of the interior?
How many days max will Harry be out and is this contingent upon the amount of money donated? Or will he stay for three days (for example) and no more etc. I would appreciate knowing some of the details.
Linda Callaway (aka Sedona)
I'm all for getting Harry out to New York City as soon as possible. This may very well be a critical time, particularly if Vivi has puppies. She may be less mobile and, in that case, Harry may have an easier time trying to figure out where her den is. If you can donate, please do. Thanks as always to all the volunteers who continue to stay involved.
There is mud being thrown here today. I heard through the grapevine, that Rick offered money from the Vivi fund, and it was refused.
Okay, I wish to have confirmation of this refusal of funds from the "Vivi Fund" - Kim thank you for this comment. Is this true? I hope it isn't true, as so many people have little to give, and I have made a sacrifice to continue my support.
If Rick did in fact offer, then we should accept as long as there are no strings attached. But I sincerely need to know if what Kim posted is true or not?
What is going on here?
If that fact is confirmed and reason given is not satisfactory to me, I would be MORE than angry.
I think we need to wait till whoever is able to answer this question ACCURATELY does so. I am waiting as everyone else cause the money I have spent on finding Vivi since February, for someone in my position and for a dog I am always reminded "is not my dog" is over the hill! I am willing to go to the stretch till we hold her in our arms, but this accusation needs more than "I heard it through the grapevine" ...lots of "grapevines" out there with VERY selfish agendas!
Exactly. We are being asked to give out of our "lack" out of our hearts and love for this dog, I have made Vivi's rescue a priority and if this comment posted by Kim is not true, then it verges on "cruel" as it puts finding Vivi at risk - and not just Vivi but also her puppies.
So, it's time for the truth.
Can someone e-mail me Ricks e-mail address or how to contact the owners, because I need to know the truth of this.
Raising this money is not an easy deal for any of us, and I expect the truth. We all deserve it.
Linda Callaway (aka Sedona)
I can't imagine ANYONE refusing to accept money from the Vivi Fund, unless there were strings attached. What the hell is it for if not for Vivi.Everything is not well on the Vivi front as long as she is out there all alone. I've posted this before but I think this is the proper time to post it again:
One of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
We have an opportunity to try something different by bringing Harry here and I for one want to try everything possible to help this poor dog who is not resonsible for her predicament.
Do not email Rick. Terri is the contact on this - let Terri either answer it or find out the answer. She is in touch with Rick. Thanks
I WILL ONLY MAKE THIS STATEMENT ONCE!
I have never been offered money from the Vivi Fund by Rick.
Furthermore, I addressed my feelings on the Vivi Fund in the absolute beginning.
You are all expending valuable energies that should be directed toward the search and rescue of Vivi.
Seems to me the blog is getting stupid, or some of us are..What part of DON'T CALL RICK, DON'T EMAIL HARRY don't some of you understand?
I agree, money in the Vivi fund should be used to find Vivi, but the people holding the purse, don't seem to see it that way..It's up to US to send the money, not just talk about what we are thinking about sending and what we have set aside and most of all, an accounting of where the money will go and where Harry will search. How dumb is that?
My opinion of Rick offering to give money for Harry's search is:::Terri would not have refused it!
Terry, Thank you for clearing that up.
Terri - bless you for contacting Harry and making this happen.........I agree - some of the stuff on the blog is getting pretty stoopid - my one question is this - well two questions: 1) any word on airfare/frequent miles? and 2) are we even close to getting enough money for Harry and Valorie to come? Or maybe that is a Lois question. I'm not questioning how it is being used or going, just wondering if we are getting close -
I agree, Ruby. The offer would have been accepted. How much have we raised so far? We have to get Harry here now while the weather is nice.
Lois reports we received another $25.00 today.
Okay, ladies. I don't know why ANYONE would want to undermine the mission to save Vivi's life. I know it's no one in our group here. :-) God Bless you all. There's something I have to take care of...right now!
By the way, Harry has notified me he is now unavailable from 9/20-10/1.
Just a couple points I would like to make...
1) No mud slinging allowed...
2) What Harry has planned is Harry's (and indirectly Terri's) thing - he's the professional - I am not. At this point we need to trust him to know what to do. This is what we are paying for am I right? If he does not feel comfortable sharing his plan, we need to accept that. Period. I know no more than any of you and I am not asking. I donated and I will wait to see if my donation can help bring Vivi home.
3) We need to take a deep breath and let those that have taken on the responsibility "do their thing". We will do what we can.
AMEN Lois ------
Gosh - he's unavailable from 9/20-10/1 - if we hurry, maybe we can get him for next week..................
First, let me assure you that even though Bonnie is unavailable to carry on her Vivi work for the month I will be filling in for her on the administrative end and she will be available by phone should the need arise. Rosa and Tina are back and doing what they do so well. Gail, Kathy, Barbara-Jean, Debbie and all the others that are in town contine their dedicated work to keep the public aware of Vivi and also try to find dens where she may be hiding. It's a big forest out there and from what I've seen she could be one foot in front of you and you wouldn't even know it.
Today I e-mailed Terri and offered to obtain a scent item of Vivi's that is in another New England state and has not been contaminated by Rick's scent. I'm in the process of making arrangements to have it sent to me and it will be made available to Harry when he gets here. I will also make sure that it is kept in a sealed plastic bag so my own dogs don't contaminate it.
We should have a preliminary poop report by the middle of next week.
Terri,
I don't need to know anything about Harry's plan but could you tell us if we were able to get enough FFM to purchase Harry's first class ticket. I know a few people said they had some
I just spoke with someone who rescues horses from the kill pens, and she told me that the No Horse Slaughter bill has been passed in Congress. This is the furtherest it has gotten so far. One step towards keeping these animals safe. Congratulations animal lovers, our voices DO count.
Hey, where did everyone go? I am curious about the answer to Marty's question about the FFM also. Thanks.
That is awesome news Kathleen - I think the next step is the Senate and we need to do the same thing we did for the Congress - write or call our senators and ask that they support HB 503/S - stop the useless slaughter of horses.
BTW - Barbaro continues to improve - Lost in the Fog's tumors are not shrinking but they are not growing either - prayers requested.
Checked the two shelters by my house again on my lunch hour and still no Bowdee cat. prayers requested for him also. Thanks everyone for all the good that you do - not just for Vivi but for everyone and everything.
So that means it is now time to call your senators. Things get passed in the House all the time only to be killed in the Senate. I'll look up contact information on that.
Kathy: I will light a candle for Bowdee. I lit one a few days ago but it's time for another one. I am so very sorry.i don't know too much about Cats but I read somewhere they sometimes hide under porches near their homes.I hope you find him soon.
the control officer at the shelter told me to not give up - that cats are very resourceful and to keep checking back with them as they don't usually go out to catch cats...........there sure were a lot of dogs out there too - was heartbreaking
Thank you Margot
Please make a short polite phone call to your two U.S. Senators today. You can reach your Senators by calling the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121, or https://community.hsus.org/campaign/FED_2006_horses_senate to find their Capitol office phone numbers. Making a call is easy. All you need to say is:
"I am a constituent and I am calling to ask my Senator to please protect American horses from slaughter. The House has voted overwhelmingly to pass the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (S. 1915) and now it is time for the Senate to act. Please do all that you can to support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act and move it to the Senate floor for an immediate vote. Thank you."
Do we have enough money to get Harry here? I'll send more money if it's needed now. It looks like we have to get Harry here next week before that fills up also.
kathy, continued prayers for Bowdee, don't lose
the faith, it took me 1 month to find my cat
that was lost. Hang in there Honey !!
I will now be calling my Senators -- please take a moment to do the same.
And, if you can spare some money, please help us raise the money to bring Harry out to NYC. We really shouldn't let this opportunity go. Any amount will be helpful -- $5, $15 -- whatever you can spare. We can do it -- we've done it before. Instead of concentrating on spreading rumors that have no basis in truth, let's focus on what we really need to do.
Getting Harry here is going too slow it seems to me. Come on people, we've supported the Vivi cause for almost 7 months, lets give this a big effort! It's up to us and only us! We raised thousands in just a short time last time, we can do it again! By the time we get the money, he'll be busy until its too late. We've already lost out on a good time to search..We're messing around too long and we'll be weeping a wailing if something happens...Get going people, PLEASE!
I guess it would be helpful to know a few things:
(1) Do we have the FFM to get Harry to NYC or are we still looking to fund a ticket?
(2) How much do we need to have in hand to bring Harry to NYC?
We need to get this nailed down ASAP so we don't have to wait until October to get Harry out there.
How about we create our own Telethon For Vivi? Maybe Lois can post our total and Terri can give us a goal, and once we see how close we are getting to help find Vivi, We can pull together and make this happen, We are truelly her last chance, WE need Harry Oaks here ASAP!
I'm baaaaack. Re:FFM offers, etc. Yes, some very gracious people have offered FFM to help with our airfare situation. I am hopeful that any and all offers will be advantagious to us, when and if the time is upon us. We cannot put the carriage before the horse. We need to be able to fund the mission before we are at the point where I can make Harry's airline reservation.
I am pounding the pavement here, trying to get this done for Vivi. Amongst the innuendo, BS, politics, lies and personal agendas, I'm moving forward. I don't buckle or bend to anyone....and no one brings me to my knees except God! My only focus and concern is VIVI! I'm here, ladies....and I'm with you and Praying we can get this done.
GO TERRI!!!!!!
Sounds good to me Rosa..If we had time, I'd have a Vivi Garage Sale..Might do it anyway!
Beth: I agree, we need a tad more info. How much do we need is my biggest concern and of course the ticket to get him here. Unlike me, he doesn't fly on a broom..haaaa
Terri: Can you give us an idea to your best knowledge about how much we need?
Anyone want to buy a $350 amber necklace for $250? Never worn, Polish amber, I'm not kidding! It would go for Vivis safe return!
We have $1515.05 to date. We will need at LEAST another $3000, AND add on first class round trip airfare, if necessary. Please be realistic and understand that, through circumstances alone, we may have to pay airfare.
I posted this on the wrong blog::::::
Well, I got the test results and they were NEGATIVE. YEAH!!!! But now I still don't know what caused the problem. He seems totally fine today and is running around like a typical puppy. :) Thanks for all the support once again.
Valerie, Dante, Trotter and Zipper.

put it on Ebay, bet you'll find someone, maybe if everyone had a garage sale this weekend the money would come in faster, hehe. It's either a garage sale or we have to start selling ourselves, no problem for me and Darlene we work in an area where there are many girls on the corner. Highest bidder gets a 2 for with me and Darlene. We do what we have to for Vivi. Darlen would kill me if she knew i was selling her. Add the beer shoes and a tutu and she's as good as gold.

Hi Ladies,
What about credit? I would be willing to pay a chunk of Harrys final bill (using my just paid off credit card) if we can get him to commit to come now and the FF miles can be used to purchase his ticket. I bet he would send a final bill once he is finished and we could divi it up and each work with him personally? Also it would give Debbie and Darlene time to do their street thing (hehe) and Ruby sell her lovely necklace on ebay!!!!
Terri, is the $1500 enough to get him started I wonder?
I love you Rosa and your third eye....I'll start the bidding at uh, $1.00...
Mila, could we pay you monthy installments? I with ya gal!
Anyone who wants to do the ebay thing with my necklace, I'll get my daughter to take a picture and I promise when it sells for more than $250, I'll ship it, (postage and ins. must be paid for by the ebay person who "wins" the bid..(been there, done the eabay thang..)
DO I HEAR $20...COME ON LADIES, ITS A BARGAIN...ITS BEAUTIFUL..REAL AMBER WITH BUGS IN THE AMBER! HAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA LETS GO LADIES!

I bought it at a jewelry store in Pleasanton California and I swear, on my dogs, I'll send the money to the Vivi fund...In fact, once I have proof of the sale, once you send me the measly postage and insurance, you can send the money directly to Lois Baker...
Do I hear $200????????
My vet will vouch for me..My daughter, although she thinks her ma is nuts, will also vouch for me. I have a son in law thats a big Polish Cop, he'll vouch for me..I am loved and a trusted mIther, citizen, person who loves all animals and I want Vivi to be found.
Do I hear $200..
Rosa, I'll up my bid for your 3rd eye to, uh, $2 big ones!
Do I hear $200 for the amber necklace?
If we weren't so darned desperate here, I'd laugh.
Okay, I did. Ruby, you're just crackin' me up. And Rosa! And workin' the streets! I'd say we're on our way!
Rosa, I think your third eye is priceless. If I don't ever have to see it, I'll give you $20. :-)
Psalm 37 NIV
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret ...
FROM TERRI-(TODAY)- BRAVO! LET'S DO THE SAME!
"I'm moving forward. I don't buckle or bend to anyone....and no one brings me to my knees except God! My only focus and concern is VIVI! I'm here, ladies....and I'm with you and Praying we can get this done."
Father Creator, You teach us not to fret but to turn to You, and You alone. What others do is no concern to us, we are praying to You for Vivi's cause. We are focused in prayer on her rescue. We pray for Harry's success. We lift the following people and animals in prayer to You!
Vivi, You are God's loving, obedient creature. God calls you to your right place, and right volunteer, quickly and safely. Listen to His voice, come to the spot where you can go home to Jil. Good Shepherd call and bring this beautiful little dog to safety. She has been on the road long enough, and wants to follow You so she can return to Jil. (Amen)
Bowdee,Patterson,Biggie, Sniffles, Holly, African Grey, Faithful (the little girl's seizure dog), Buddy, Rags, Precious, Whippet Annie Little Aussie, Apple Riley, and Montefiore Mama, Daddy, and girl (the “tree puppies’” family)You are God's loving, obedient creatures. God calls you to your right place, and right volunteer, quickly and safely. Listen to His voice, Come to the spot where you can go home to your earthly family. Good Shepherd call and bring these beautiful animals to safety. They have been on the road long enough, and want to return home to their families. Bowdee come home!(Amen)
Duke, Your Creator is a God of Justice, and a vindicator for His creation. We put You in His Hands. Father,Let the courts hear our pleas on Duke's behalf. Strengthen us to speak for all who have no voice. Help us find Kristy (MI lab) a new home, she deserves people who love her as much as she loves them.

Hey Mila, how's it going? I wonder if Harry takes credit cards? Hell it could be paid in a second, we have 30 days to pay our bills, anyone know the answer, this way it will keep me and Darlene off the streets and Ruby out of the cowboy bars.
Lois T I know you are lurking on here, where are you, want to sell some italian booty.
Hey nothing like some humor to get us through all this crapolla!
Ruby: $20.00, and not only will you get a 3rd eye, but a chocolate fountain, that's what got me through the first 3 months of this saga!
Don't sell the chocolate fountain Rosa! Sacrilege if you ask me. Chocolate is a major food group-can't give that up! Besides, we need it for Vivi's coming home (or out) party at Darleen's!
Debbie, I would imagine Harry accepts plastic. I think Terri is working on that. I will gladly use mine to get him here.
Kathleen, two nights ago I offered a special prayer for everyone to find gainful and meaningful employment, and continue to pray for this on my own.
Those of us, like myself, who love what we do are blessed! Thanks for starting the candle group!
Bowdee come home to your mama!A year ago, Two friends of mine had their darling Tiger cat Cosette sneak out and wander away--she had NEVER done this before. After four weeks they tearfully accepted they would never see her again---she came home two weeks later, and was gone for six weeks! She was thin, and had worms but she recovered quite well! Keep praying.
Oh, poop! Just when there's a break in the muck and mire.....here we go, ladies.
One time and one time only......
NO! I don't want.... have no desire for....nor am I entitled to......any existing reward for Vivi!
Don't even know the status of a reward, but NO!..... absobloominlutely NO! NEVER! NO!
How sad that there are people concerned about RECEIVING money at a time like this. More than sad, it's sick.
Mila if Vivi is found Darlene is having the biggest blowout, she said everyone can come. I said we are getting a limo and hitting the town.
Anything new on the junkyard and bodyshop list? I have to refill my ink cartridges tomorrow, then I can start mailing again for you.
Remember Duke's letters and if anyone can help Mila with Sniffles he is still out there, I have gotten a list of supermarkets in the area I mailed to from her.
Ok I am taking my Chocolate fountain off the auction block, Mila's wise words, just made me realy think, I need the dark stuff!!
My 3rd eye is still available, anyone?
TERRE: YOU just gave me an idea, when you mentioned the reward, is there any way you can talk to Rick about donating the $5,000 reward to the Harry Oaks fund? What could it hurt?
Ok Debbie - you've pulled me out of lurk mode. If the three of us go out on the streets we could have the "booty round the world for Vivi" thang. Maybe we should buy Ruby's necklace & Rosa's eye to wear - I think they would make great accessories to go along with our industrial accident wardrobe!
On a serious note - I sent my check Tuesday evening. We can make this happen!
Sorry, Rosa. I don't know anything about a reward to date. If there is one, we have no guarantee of the final outcome here. The only one who is 100% sure is God. All I have professed is that Harry is Vivi's best chance. We cannot operate on the premise of a reward paying his fees. And I won't even involve Harry in something like this. He's not a bounty hunter. We are hiring him to do what he does best. He's doing a job for us and we are paying him. What Rick does with a reward beyond that is up to Rick.....WHEN Vivi is found and rescued. Too many uncertainties there and I am solely responsible for paying Harry. Really need to get away from Vivi Fund and now reward.
Hey Debbie,
Completed more lists today! Churches and some body shops, etc. I need more stamps and envelopes but will be back at it tomorrow! Thanks for asking and I will be more than happy to send another list to you! All for dear Sniffles!
Sharon, you are so right about asking for special prayers for those searching for employment. Jobs are important not only for the obvious (money) but for a sense of self. Jobs are not the most meaningful part of our life but are tied into our well being.
I have always felt that cats have a special survival angel riding on their shoulders. We are all praying for Bowdee to make his way home and bringing peace and happiness to his Momma.
Don't forget to light a candle for all of our friends. Just seeing those candles lit show us how much people do care and are willing to take the time to visit the candle site.
Mila send it if you have it, like I said the bodyshops and junkyards take in strays. So that would be a good place to start, whenever we walk and look we always see them in there and they all feed them,I have even given then bones also. Some of them feed the strays that come from the neighborhoods also.
Rosa how about $1000.00 for your third eye we could use it in back of our heads out there.
Kristy the Lab needs overtime prayers for a home or foster situation. Saturday is the deadline. A reputable shelter has agreed to take her but its not the optimal solution. We have found a lady who will take her for a few days, but her son is allergic to everything- has severe asthma, and cannot do this long term.
Lois my little cupcake, uh, "on a serious note"..I dead serious...What am I offered for this genuine, complete with a bug or two in the amber beads, necklace?
No takers? Awwww come on gals, you know you need an amber necklace to go with your new Fall wardrobe..amber and jeans is HOT!
Do I hear $200? I kid you not, I'm serious!
OUr neighborhood is having a garage sale the 16th. I'm gonna donate my monies to Vivi! I hate to do garage sales so you know I must love this little Whippet..
Do I hear $200?
Rosa, keep the chocolate thingie, but I might up my bid for your third, precious, if not disgusting 3rd eye... Heres looking at YOU Rosa!
On a serious note: A gal from the Humane Society of Southern Arizona who I called the other day, returned my call. She's willing go use her email address for the Otis petition...The petition will be online tomorrow, I promise! We need to get this abuser and the only way we can do that is by letters to the people Margot posted!
Also::::Duke still needs signatures..
www.SaveDuke.homestead.com/
This sweet Pit does not deserve to die!
Ruby already sent letters to all on the list for Otis and will sign a petition also, sne a letter to Denise with a donation for duke, does anyone know when they are going to do the demonstration again, if we are availabe and not working we will go and support Duke.
Thank you to everyone for all the great ideas today. We WILL get this done! Let's just keep it simple, okay? God Bless everyone. God Bless Vivi.
Good night.
Debbie at 10:25 p.m. I sent what you said to Denise. I'm sure she'll get back to me about the ralley or whatever for Duke! Thanks a lot!
DO I HEAR $200 LADIES? I'M ABOUT TO GO TO BED..SEE YOU SAME TIME, SAME VIVI BLOG...I'm about to bid of Rosa's damn 3rd eye again...
Ruby,
Thanks for the email and for putting up dukes sight everynight. We are having a gathering in front of the first district court house on Veterans Highway in Ronkonkoma. I just dont know when yet. I am waiting for jeff to tell me. As soon as I know I will let everyone know.
PS Debbie I didnt forget that question I am just waiting to get my answer
Vivi car wash ?
You guys are so CUTE! I have to say...reading the blog puts me through a bunch of emotions all within a few minutes. I'm exhausted once I get caught up.
Doesn't it always seem that there is "unrest" on the blog when a new plan is being developed? I don't necessarily think it is a bad thing, it is actually quite interesting if you think about it. It makes us think about options, all of them.
I don't know about you guys but I am willing to donate whatever extra money I have to bring in Harry. Whether right or wrong, I am putting my faith in him. We are running out of options. I suppose the only other thing we haven't tried is to just "wait and see" and personally, I'm not too good at that.
I wish I had a credit card to offer or had the cash to front him but I don't so I will have to hope and pray with the rest of you that enough funds come in within the next couple days to get him to NYC.
By the way Nancy, how about a dog wash instead? :)
Nancy, how about a Vivi house cleaning crew coming to my house? My car is clean, my house is, uh, not.
HEY LADYS...DON'T FORGET THE AMBER NECKLACE WITH LITTLE POLISH BUGS..(Darlene should be here, she's Ploish!)
i PAID $350 FOR IT AND WILL LET IT GO TO THE FIRST PERSON WHO OFFERES ME $250 PLUS SHIPPING AND INSURANCE...It's a beauty..
Do I hear $200?
Lois, a dog wash would be great! Is it warm enough for an outside wash? The people would only need a large galvanized tub and a warm water source, shampoo and towels. $20 a dog or more. HOw about a wine tasting night or a fund raiser like Brian did for Bobbi and the Strays? HOw about someone buys my necklace! AND BTW Lois, I sent my BIG alimony check to you...What a joke huh? I think I had a bad attorney..I'm asking for a raise..
Bed time, I wore myself out with the bidding war for Rosa's 3rd eye...Back tomorrow with more hair brain ideas!
I love you guys! ( 0: Taaaaaaaa
Ruby, you're so funny.
Psalm 27:14
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.
Good morning Daddy God. Thank you for watching over us and keeping us in your care through the night. We thank you Daddy God for watching over Vivi through the night. Thank you for sheltering her and for providing her fresh food and pure water. Please continue speaking to Vivi's heart and tell her to trust the rescuer you have chosen. Daddy God, help us to raise all the funds that are needed for Harry to come, unless you choose to bring her home sooner. We do not know your plan, but we know that you have one. You have shown us so many of your ways in the wonderful things you have done for us and for your creatures. We look to you and you alone, for it is you who holds all of us in your hands. Bring home our little ones Daddy to their homes and the love they so deserve, Vivi, Biggie, Sniffles,Rags, Faithful, Little Aussie, Mommy, Daddy and Baby Girl pup, Apple Riley, Precious Hosanna, Buddy, Annie, African Grey, Patterson, Pointer, Jack Russel, Grey Tabby, Bowdee, Yorkie, and now Shimi pug. Daddy, let your deliverance flow. We wait upon you in patience, showing ourselves to you to be faithful in our trust in you. Our faith remains and we will not be moved until your deliverance is manifested. Holy Jesus, continue your healing grace in our little ones, CJ, Dante, Zipper, Felice, Max, McGee, Murphy, Mylie, Barbaro, Gunner, Linus, Kiva, Ellie, Morgan, Andi, Nicki, Dude, Tucker, Tinkerbell, Lexie, the twin kittens, Isabella, Bowen, Pie Bird, Heather, and Fog. Continue your healing mercy in Madison, Baby Girl, JL, Lance, Pam, Chris, Abby, Pat, Jacque, Darlene, Ruth, Mary Ann, Kim, Millicent, Martha, BJ, and Kathleen. We remain in your presence and we consider all these healings complete in your name. Bless the mighty rescuers and lead them to victory. Stengthen them, reward them and increase their numbers. Lead and guide every step they take Daddy and protect them. Bless Harry and Valerie as they prepare to come to NY. Shelter them in your arms. Please help those who are looking for jobs Daddy God. Lead them to the places you want their light to shine for you and give them joy in their work. Increase them and give them favor. Bring justice to Otis and freedom to Duke. Bless the rally and bring in righteous judges who will stand strong for your creatures. Thank you for the success for the horses today and help us to see it through to the end. Touch politicians hearts Lord and cause them to feel love for these beautiful creatures the moment they vote. It will only take one moment. We thank you for this Daddy. You can cause a heart of stone to become soft and tender. Protect beloved Israel and America as they battle terrorism to keep us free. Protect and shield the soldiers and lead the innocent to safety and provision. I don't know about all my other prayer partners Daddy, but I for one am tired of the crap in this world. Give us the glorious light of your bounty in healing, deliverance, and provision. We want to see you Daddy. We want to watch you move and we want to glorify you. As we stand in your presence flood us with your Spirit and let your power flow. Let this be the day Daddy God...Let this be the day INDEED...In Jesus's Name we pray...Amen

Yeah, I'd rather wash dogs than cars anyday..I spend quite alot of time in water with dogs LOL.
Dog wash with nail clipping thrown in, mini-massage, Reiki
Set up a Vivi Museum exhibit with all the posters , flyers, maps, newspaper articles, stacks of beer cans
I sent out a check to help with the fund yesterday -- if you can spare any amount, no matter how small, please send it to Lois. We really need to finalize arrangements to get Harry here. Thanks, everyone!
Sheeesh, I can't believe I didn't have one bid on the genuine Amber necklace, complete with a few critters in it, which btw, is very desirable..If Rosa's third eye sells before my necklace, I'm gonna be growing a 3rd eye too. All of my money will go to help hire Harry! We need more money to get him to NY to rescue our girl Vivi!
People, send any amount! Lois keeps good records and if it should happen that we can't raise enough money to get Harry to NY, all of your money will be returned.
VIVI NEEDS US! WE NEED TO FIND HER! THE WAITING AND WORRYING IS OVERWHELMING AT TIMES. )O:
We have received a total of $1020.00 today. We're getting there. I think this is going to be a good day. :-)
Terrie,
You made my day! I knew the gals would come through for Vivi! I'm sooooo happy as I'm sure you and the rest of the people are..
(hey, wanna buy an Amber necklace or Rosa's third eye? You know, every little bit helps...)
Ruby....No on the necklace. I have a bug phobia. I'm already high bidder on Rosa's third eye!
Is this $1020.00 money just received today, or the entire amount received so far? I'm confused by the post. What is the total amount raised so far from the first day? Thanks.
Terri GReat news about he amount recieved. There is hope ladies, anything will help. Don't want to sound like Jerry Lewis here, but lets keep it coming!!
Ruby, My third eye is yours, I just bought a eyeball Chia pet and am in the proccess of growing another. I am ready to let go!! LOl Rosa
Kathleen - I think that is in addition - $1020 just today - not sure but I think so - YIPPEE
On a sad note - I just found out that a friend of mine in my greyhound group just found out her Lexi has a very aggressive stomach cancer. Doesn't look good for Lexi, but prayers could sure help. I'm gonna try to figure out how to set up a candle group.
I figured it out and there is now a group called LEXI - please light a candle when you have the time. Thanks
Kathleen,
Yesterday Terri said the amount was 1,550.00 I think. Then today she said she received 1,020.00
Grand Total ladies- $2,570.00
I think we still need around 2,500.00
Correct me if I wrong Terri. C'mon ladies we have to get this money to get Harry there ASAP
An idea, I am in the process of asking friends and family for any donations, for Vivi. I am sure many of us have friends and family who know about Vivi or have heard us talk about her, lets see if we can get people outside of our Blog family to donate.
Kath of Co..I have been lighting candles every day for Lexi. I'm really sorry..I was hoping things would be better for Lexi the Weim!
I think I made a mistake with the figures.
Yesterday Terri said we had 1,515.05 and we needed to add another 3,000.00 plus airline ticket if necessary. Today she said she received 1,020.00. So right now I'm figuring we need around 3,500.00 more dollars and that doesn't include airfare ticket.
Correct me if I'm wrong with the figures
Ruby - this is another Lexi - this is LEXI in all caps and she is a greyhound - I was unaware of the other Lexi - I'll go light a candle for her too
PS - Lexi's mom - Rene - is in Houston on a business trip so you can imagine when the vet called her today and told her - all she can think of is getting home t her baby. I guess the time is very very short for Lexi and she is only 6 - way too young - hardly had time to live her life of retirement.
Marty I think you are right on the second post, I am gettin so excited! We'll have to wait till Terri gets back on blog and see how close we are getting.
I really think we can make this happen, the more and more I read about Harry Oaks on his site, the more I KNOW this is the right decision, He sounds AMAZING along with Valore,(sp)? This is the guy that is going to give us some answeres, no matter the outcome, this is the guy we need HARRY OAKS! WE all have been here to long not to have an answer and some closure. Keep praying everyone!!!
I think there was also donations being offered for FFM isn't that what I read the other day. So much going on between poop samples and all this, it's hard to keep track, I do remember reading on blog someone offering her ffm.
I'm wondering if that money was from the mail Lois has picked up today. If not then hopefully we will have more today.
I think so Rosa but not much has been said about the FFM so we have to still put that figure in the total which could be as much as 2,000.00 for a first class ticket. We will have to wait and see
The $1020.00 was the total in checks Lois received today. We now have $2535.05. We need approx. $2000.00 and MAYBE airfare. I posted yesterday about FFM.
Terri,
That is FANTASTIC. I know we can raise another $2000 and then we'll tackle the airfare. More checks are sure to come in tomorrow. I mailed mine Mon. but it didn't go out til Tues.Don't know how long it takes to get to MN. Surely not more than 4-5 days. Just want you to know how much I appreciate all you are doing.
I can no longer give my support for bringing Harry Oakes out. I have asked several questions on the blog and by private e-mail about the donations, Vivi Fund, and search tactics and have not received satisfactory answers. Because it is almost the weekend and I do not have access to a computer, I have posted my withdrawal of support and also I have requested a refund of my donation.
Linda Callaway (aka Sedona)
Terri Thanks for the update, Wonderful news! Were getting there! Rosa
Sedona - what is it that you have a problem with?? Harry will come out and do his thing to find Vivi - what more do we need to know? I'm sorry you feel it necessary to take your money back - Vivi needs all of us - no matter what.
Attention getting tactics. They never end. never will.
I think Sedona expects to be told the EXACT location where Harry will be and all the particulars which of course isn't what anyone expects!
Maybe she wants an ad taken out in the NY Post, stating the time/day/location and the whole smear so reporters, bounty hunters and half of NY will show up..
My last comment about this is: I thought you told us you know where Vivi is Sedona, go from there and figure it out. Your questions are right on the verge of being ridiculous! Don't you think we'd all like to know everything, but we are leaving it to Terrie and Harry, not to the general public..
Linda, once your check clears my account, I will mail you your refund. I SO want to respond to you on this blog but I am going to refrain for the sake of keeping it simple and trying to keep it sane. I will email you my opinion of your stance and your approach personally.
To the rest of you - we have been through ups and downs for almost SEVEN MONTHS. I have learned a lot and I think that the majority of the people "out there" (locals and out of towners) trust me, Beth and Meri-Lou and our ability to manage the funds.
What everyone needs to understand is that this fund - like any other fund - does not operate with a revolving door. If you want to donate, please do so. If you don't, it is your option BUT PLEASE DO NOT send in donations and then request a refund because you do not agree with someone or are not happy with a response (or lack thereof) you receive from someone. I can not physically nor psychologically handle it. Believe it or not, this is time consuming. I just want everyone to understand that what is involved is not simply making deposits and writing checks. It's a matter of CMA (cover my butt). I want this whippet to be found as much as everyone.
If I did not believe in this "mission" I would NEVER have accepted the task of managing the fund. I feel obligated to each and every one of you that have donated - and I don't mean only money. Even those that have donated their time, prayers, candle lightings...I am obligated to you as well. This is just me.
I'm keeping my money in the fund and if we are short the amount that is being refunded I will find a way to personally cover it. I don't care if I have to beg my friends or family for a short-term loan.
We are very close to our goal. I know that this group has it in them to give it one last shot. Let's do it for Vivi.
Lois - I can bet that keeping track of all the funds and all is very time consuming - plus you have to pick up the mail, run to the bank - a lot of extra things that aren't even thought of - Bless you for taking this on - I really appreciate you.
Our total to date is now $2335.05. Let's move on from here.
Lois: I totally agree with your post from 5:00. Donations need to be made with a serious committment. I am sending in a donation tomorrow. I just wish there was some way to get this whippet found quickly.
I appreciate Lois too. AND everyone else who works so hard for Vivi's return. Thank you
Vivi please find a volunteer.
Sedona,
I thought you loved ViVi and wanted her home. So now that you don't get the answers you want your money back. If that's the case then it was never for ViVi. I'm so glad people have finally seen your true colors.
Lois,
Thank you for everything your doing.
Linda,
For the record, I don't believe you ever had intentions on donating to this fund for the SAR of Vivi. From day #1, all I have heard is your constant demands for a "promise" that Vivi would be found, "search details", details about this and details about that....oh, and my favorite.....time for you to train your dog "Moses" in search and rescue so you could fly to NYC in the spring of 2007 and conduct your own search for Vivi!!!!!
If it comes down to $200, this mission will go on as planned. That's a fact. Actually, we will all move on and survive quite well without you. Step back. Vivi doesn't need you. God Bless any animal or person in your life.
Everyone why are we letting Sedona, burst our bubble, I think this is being done on purpose, she is gettting attention. How many more GRAND EXITS is she going to make, it's not as simple as she puts it, she has been threatening to leave for months, but yet is still here. So forget about it. Lets move on, She'll be back who is she kidding.
Lois,
You have done enough already and certainly don't have to account to Linda/Sedona/Cynthia etc etc etc.People are only entitled to a refund if Harry is unable to come Period. This was made VERY clear at the beginning. This is not like buying a dress and returning it. Collecting money, going to a POBox every day, making deposits, assigning Id numbers is very time consuming for the ones doing it. We don't have to know the details of this search because it could ruin everything. Please have faith in the people who are trying so hard to bring Harry here and reunite our Vivi with her family.
Your right about that Rosa. She will pop up under a different name. We know her game now.
Terri well said, but this LINDA/SEDONA/CPF/3RD EYE/ what ever she calls herself, Is not worth getting worked up over, this is not the first time and wont be the last! Try to move on, she is feeding on this.
She is lurking and laughing. Trust me on that one.
MY TWO EYE'S SEES SOMEONE GETTING A KICK OUT OF UPSETTING SOME GOOD HEARTED PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING THEIR BEST! WE don't need this!
I just want to say that I've been in daily communication with Lois and Meri-Lou, and you will not believe how dedicated these two ladies are to this cause and how deeply they care about what happens, and how much thought they have put into everything they have done. I've rarely seen such dedication. You can have the upmost trust in them. Linda, I hear lots of promises from you, including you bringing your dog to find Vivi -- but the promises don't ever seem to be backed up with anything real. I'm sorry you are so full of doubt and mistrust. If you need your $200 back, okay. But remember, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
I see no reason in attacking anyone on this blog the way people have been doing this afternoon and other times.
Linda (or anyone else) is entitled to their opinion and we should accept it with a kind heart. How can you expect God to answer our prayers with kindness, when we cannot treat others with equal kindness?
Some of you have been so kind and nice to me, and I am so fond of all of you. Please be kind to each other and do not make hurtful comments - nothing is gained by such cruelty. Over the many months I have learned we must accept each person as they are - whether we believe in that person or not - because we all love animals regardless.
I guess I will be under attack next, but if so it will just have to be. We profess our love for animals and Vivi, but cannot extend this same kindness to each other at times. Now fire away! I said what I felt.
Oh, for God's sake! And who, pray tell, is out there spreading sunshine and flower petals all over the place for Vivi?
Kathleen
Your absolutely right in everything you are saying but I can recall way back when you said some not so nice words to Sedona. I believe her name was Cynthia then. I'm not trying to be ugly here. But please practice what you preach.
Marty and anyone else out there, please read the entire post above.
"Over the many months I have learned we must accept each person as they are - whether we believe in that person or not - because we all love animals regardless."
Yes, I was acknowledging that I was upset with Linda (and others) in the past, but I have put this behind and tried to make amends with these people and move on. And Marty, if there is anyone that tries to practice what she preaches, it is me. I will be the first to admit I am human and make mistakes, but if you need someone as a friend or someone to pray or be concerned for you - I think everyone on here will agree I will be there for you.
I am not against Harry Oakes and would love to see him come. I'm just asking for people to be kind to each other on this blog. We all want the best for Vivi and want her safe. And Terri, I never said things were "sunshine and rose petals" for Vivi. This dog suffers like any other animal on the street, and I have rescued enough off the streets to know this. If I had my way, every one of them would be rescued, loved and safe. If I had one wish to be granted, that would probably be the one I would wish for - all animals and children to be loved and safe!
All i have to say about this is... if Linda wasn't looking for attention and to stir things up here, she would of just emailed Lois privately and not made a big announcement on the blog.
Let's move on now and change the subject because all this kind of talk just perpetuates itself and turns the blog negative when we need to focus our energies and positive thoughts on this project and finding Vivi.
Wow, blog heats up again, I sent my check today.
I wish I could have sent in the balance we need
but I am currently unemployed and still paying off
Nells vet bills. WE will get there girls !!
Hang in there
KATHLEEN STEPHENSON, if you can go on your "SOAP BOX" AS YOU CALL IT, Then so can other people, isn't that right?
I also remember you complaining about SEDONA?CPF and how much she upset you, I also believe at that point it made you want to leave the blog, and now you are defending her, you have every right to. But like you say, and I'll say it again "Soap box"
SueG - I hope things work out soon about your real estate. It is not fun to be unemployed. My prayers are with you.
And I also hear you about those vet bills. I paid off the last of Tink's this past payday, and I am praying she will stay well for a while at least. But I told my son it was worth every cent to see my precious little girl not hurting any more. I sure hope Heather is feeling better too!
Kathleen,
Please don't display your cognitive skills as a misinterpretation of what I've said. Simply put, your warm and cozy thoughts are misdirected. Try to focus on VIVI.
So, we have come full circle once again. We've been through it before and I hope to God we won't have to go through it again. My hope is that we find Vivi way before then. We're going to get through this you guys. We always go through this cycle...someone rocks the boat, other people rock the rocker and still others try to get everyone to quit rocking! Ultimately, we get done what we set out to do, and THAT's what REALLY counts. Check through all the other blogs. I swear this is the case.
I'm giving it my all on this one -
I do want to apologize for apparently "whining" about the fund being so much work. My objective was not to get people to feel sorry for me. That was not my intention. I do it for Vivi and those that trust in me to represent their money, hopes and prayers. THANK YOU ALL.
Kathleen, well said. Its ok, We are all human, and we all want the same thing, get Vivi home SAFE!
Lois, please know how much you are appreciated! Thank you Thank you Thank you! Rosa
Okay guys, lets get back to work. We need to get some more money. ViVi is ready to go home.
Amen Rosa,Lois has always come thru for Vivi and although I know she's not looking for a thank-you it's nice to know your efforts are appreciated. This is a huge undertaking and I also want to add my thanks. I still have kramer's picture on my dektop. He is beautiful.
Yes, let's do move on....
Some of you inquired about credit cards yesterday. I will mention it again to Harry, but I have read in the contract that "payment will be accepted in the form of cashier's check or money order." Just wanted to share what I know. If you wish to use credit cards, you can always withdraw cash on your card and send it to Lois.
Lois love you girl, I have complete trust in you, but you knew that already. How is Tucker?
Everyone please stop fighting this is not helping vivi, please send Lois whatever you can so we can get Harry, the longer we wait the older her scent is out there and will be hard to track considering all the rain we have had. We are trying not to get the ground contaminated with walking all over the place. Our mission is to try and get up more flyers in case someone may have seen her in an area where there are none.
Let's crack open the beers and let the bidding begin for the necklace, Lois T, Monica you out there??? Where are my newbies. Hehe. Lois are you out on the corner already.
Thanks Terri, if by some chance he does happen to take a credit card let us know, we have all sent checks and would put some on a card if needed.
Hey Deb - No I'm not on the corner yet, although right now it doesn't sound all that bad. We're having the house painted and the painters are here and have trapped me in the office. I can't leave at the moment. Please pray that nature does not call - one reason I'm not having a beer right now!
I know my credit card statement always comes with blank checks to use... they are always trying to tempt me to spend more.(: I normally tear them up and through them away... but it's an idea if anyone gets those too.
Beer? Did you say beer? Honest, I wish I had a six pack right now.
Please don't say "beer" Lois!!! LOL!! The power of suggesstion is doing it's evil on me!!! Help!!!

I am very confident there will be more checks in the PO box tomorrow. That will be my first errand of the day! I'm keeping the faith! We are doing great with gathering up those funds!
I will more than likely be unavailable this evening...it's my boyfriend's 50th birthday (poor guy) and we're going to dinner. He's buying :)
Pam from MN...are you a friend of Nancy Kaminski's? The only reason I ask is because I was talking to people at the barn about the Vivi blog and Nancy mentioned that she has a friend that follows the blog but rarely posts. Just wondering...
The necklace is still waiting for a bid today..Martha kindly bid on it last night, the weenie! It's a
beauty, big chuncks of amber with cute little bugs in a few of the chunks..something every gal should be happy to wear..haaaaaaaaa
The bugs are dead ladies and most desirable in AMBER!
If you don't want the necklace, how about Rosa's 3rd eye? Now thats something that would be a conversation piece at any dinner!
The Otis petition didn't get finished. A gal from the Humane Soc. didn't answer my letter telling me if some of the things I put in it were ok or slander! You know me, I have a way with words! You can still send letters, if you don't have the addresses, let me know!
Don't forget the Duke petition, that sweet boy is still waiting to go home. Send letters and sign the petition. www.SaveDuke.homestead.com/
Heavenly Father,
When it seems that we are actually, finally at our wits' end... and we've seen the end of all that we can do, that is when you are at your nearest, your most miraculous, your best. Sometimes, the road we trudge seems destined to be dusty and desolate forever. And yet, just around the corner, just over the next hill, we see new life, we see hope. We pray for this hope for all those animal lovers and animals who we lift to You!
May you bring them what they need, that they may once again be dancing on this earth.
Amen.
(paraphrase of Simba950 at Beliefnet)
Father Creator the above prayer which we lift to You, says it all. Let the dancing begin!!
(Amen)

Duke, Your Creator is a God of Justice, and a vindicator for His creation. We put You in His Hands. Father,Let the courts hear our pleas on Duke's behalf. WHY I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES
My friends at prayers for pets sent this along. Some of you greyhound people may have seen this story even though it's only a couple of days old.
They thought we could use the boost in morale.
> Arizona Greyhound Rescue (AGR) received a phone call at 2:30 a.m. on 9/5.
> Arnold, who was being fostered in Armory Park neighborhood, was missing. The
> gal and her roommate had been looking for him since midnight when they
> noticed him missing.
>
> AGR president and her partner got up and started pacing and making lost and
> found flyers. At 4:30 a.m. they went out in that neighborhood and started
> posting them and talking to people going to work in the industrial area, a
> short 2 blocks from where Arnold left. At 6 a.m. they called me and I sent
> an email to 100+ volunteers asking if they could help. Apparently some did.
>
> I went to Armory Park around 8:30 a.m. and walked the alleys giving out my
> flyers and talking to people. No one saw Arnold. Other people had gone
> looking too.
>
> Arnold already has a sad story because he was living in his forever home
> when his owner suddenly died. The husband and children did not want him so
> he was relinquished back to AGR. He spent some time in our kennel until a
> kind woman fostered him for eight months. Arnold originally got a bad rap as
> being an alpha biter but perhaps that was caused by his situation. Georgia,
> his foster mom, socialized him and he now does well with other dogs but is
> not cat tolerant. Arnold is big, black, and weighs 95 pounds but loves
> people and children; he’s a gentle giant. He also has a mohawk running down
> his neck which makes him look really cool.
>
> When Georgia moved into an apartment that didn’t allow big dogs, Arnold went
> into his second foster home and was only there two weeks when he went
> missing.
>
> Many people got involved with the rescue efforts. On 9/6 a few of us were
> down there again and no one had seen this big black dog. We had reports into
> Pima Animal Control, the Humane Society, called dead animal pick up, posted
> on Craig’s List, and had ads in the paper. People drove thru the area,
> walked through the area, posted and passed out flyers. Every homeless person
> in Santa Rita Park knew that we were looking for a greyhound as did anyone
> driving a Qwest, UPS, and Fed-Ex truck in the area plus the police
> patrolling the area. We walked the railroad tracks and looked in the brush.
>
> The greyhound world is tight. I posted on a greyhound list and an animal
> communicator in Georgia contacted me saying that he was confused and hiding
> in the park behind a bush. At 6 p.m. I ran down to the Santa Rita Park yet
> again and walked it. At night the homeless were gone and kids sports team
> were everywhere. There were no bushes.
>
> Other people went to other parks. Mary and Diana went to a park at 36th &
> Kino which I felt was too far away. Arnold would have to cross too many busy
> streets but there were lots of bushes. By the time they got there, it was
> too dark to do much but was determined to go back the next day.
>
> Some people volunteered to fax the vets in the area regarding the missing
> greyhound. I broke down 2 lists related to zip codes from where he was
> missing.
>
> On 9/7 I woke up to pouring rain, an electrical storm, and wondered if
> Arnold was afraid of storms like mine are. The washes were running and
> people were drowning.
>

I just want everybody to know that we all say things out of anger that we don't mean but let's all pull together once again and help a dog that we have all come to love. ViVi needs us more than ever so let's give what we can so she can be found and go home where she deserves to be.
I just lite another candle for VIVI - There were only 28 candles for her, that is the lowest I have seen. Come on let's keep her candles going. She needs us and we need to keep the faith that we have had for all these months.
Keeping the faith for VIVI in TX
Sharon, I talked to Karyn on the phone about Otis the greyhound and then got an email aobut that grey that was found! Nice lady, devoted to Greys!
It does get rather tense sometimes doesn't it? But we're a resiliant group and we always come back around to the real focus - Vivi. You guys are awesome, as usual...
cherita, will do. I never miss a day. Earlier there were 44, this morning early that is. Sometimes I htink the candles leave before the 48 hrs...same with Dukes site...I'll go light some now

Quick thought about what Kathleen S. wrote:
"If I had one wish to be granted, that would probably be the one I would wish for - all animals and children to be loved and safe!"
That sums up my philosophy in life. That philosophy is what attracted me to Vivi's plight.
I am sure many of us bloggers feel the same way and we feel it to a higher extent than most of the general public. It shows in what everyone is willing to do to help Vivi.
I am glad to see everyone is doing their best to keep their eyes on the prize!
With much love,
Tara from LI
I'm off to the post office box and then going to run my Saturday errands (after 7 months you probably know what that is right? Give a riding lesson and then visit grandma). Anyway, as soon as I get home I will let you all know what I received in the mail as far as donations go. Keep the faith my friends. We WILL get this done. :)
I have been out of town and away from a computer for two days so it took a while to catch up on what's been going on. I went to Palestine, Tx as Jacque is now home from the hospital. She is doing fantastic. Her left arm and hand do have a long way to go but she is getting there. She wanted me to thank you so much for the cards. They really cheered her up.
I still support Harry Oakes coming, without any questions. He is the expert and we are paying him to do his thing.
Thank you all so much for your prayers for Jacque.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and candles for Lexi the Greyhound. I just spoke with her mama Rene and she and daddy Jayson helped Lexi to the Bridge this morning - she was just too weak and they didn't want to prolong her suffering. Race with the wind sweet Lexi and watch over us from above - help us find Vivi sweet girl.
I'm so sorry to hear about Lexi. God bless her little doggie soul.
Our total received for today is $690, bringing our total to $3025.05.
My prayers go out to Lexi and her family...another angel is born. Sweet baby.

Here's the update after I visited the post office today. I'm sure we'll be getting many more on Monday...
Do we have enough to get Harry here before he is unavailable? The 20th isn't too far away. What we've raised so far is remarkable but then so is this group. Sorry to hear about Lexi. It is so hard to take that step.
If you want to read a different take on the Rainbow Bridge, go to Animal Planet and the Tributes to Steve Irwin that people can write in. The one about "An Interesting Day at the Rainbow Bridge" is wonderful. It had me crying by the middle. I printed it out so I will always have it. It is probably on page 4 or so. The memorials keep getting longer.
Susan,
Is this the one?
Steve is at the Rainbow Bridge with all the animals he loved the best.
Rainbow Bridge is a place of both peace and anticipation as departed
pets await their beloved owners. There are plenty of things to keep them contented while they wait: trees you can't get stuck in, endless
meadows, splashing streams, thickets perfect to hide in for pounce- attack games.
But one day the residents noticed some rather...unusual newcomers arrive.
The koalas and the kangaroos slipped in rather quietly, but then came the bearded dragons, the skinks and the goannas. The influx of snakes
startled an entire family of cats up a tree. Pythons, cobras, tiger snakes, brown snakes and even fierce snakes. There were so many at one
point, it seemed the ground itself was alive with writhing. A burly wombat shouldered his way through the crowd and plopped down in a shady
spot, barely missing a Jack Russell terrier who yapped indignantly as he abandoned his position.
And then the crocodiles showed up.
Finally, a Great Dane managed to get up enough nerve to approach one of the reptillian giants.
"Um....excuse me," he said hesitantly. "But why are you all here?"
The croc dropped her jaw and laughed. "Same as you, mate," she said. "Waitin' for someone who loved us."
The dogs, cats, ferrets and other "typical pets" looked at each other in confusion, then at the plethora of weird, ugly and downright deadly
creatures assembled. Who on Earth could possibly love some of those faces?
"I see him!" shouted a green mamba from his vantage point in one of the trees. A cacophony of squeeks, hisses, bellows and roars erupted as the
mob surged forward toward a lone human walking across the field toward the bridge. The other animals managed to catch a glimpse of him before
he was overwhelmed by the crowd.
"CRIKEY!" he shouted joyously right before he was bowled over by the wombat.
"Well I'll be," said a Persian as she tidied up her fur. "It's that Aussie my human liked to watch on TV. Had to be the craziest human on the whole planet."
"Oh, please," remarked a echidna as he hurried by. "Is it really that that crazy to passionately love something God made?"
"I am sure the humans will miss him alot but now we get to be taken care of by the human man that loved us all the most." The shy Croc bellowed out with a couple tears in her eyes knowing how many humans will miss him.
Yes, This is the one. I can picture that this happened at the bridge. What a loss for all of us. Right now I'm watching Confessions of the Croc Hunter and Terri is talking about the Baby Bob thing and how their lives are filled with wildlife and teaching their kids about their "pets" that they will see everyday. I see Steve in Bindi's personality. I really believe that Terri and the children will carry on his passion.
Steve Irwin was certainly a better person than me. I can love God's creatures with a passion, but not the crocs, spiders and snakes I am afraid.
My heart just broke for his family. The closeness and love! And his little girl's love for her Daddy spoke so highly of the person he was.
Guess God needed a special type of angel up there watching over many of His creatures that others do not love or protect - and He sure got one in Steve Irwin! He will be missed here on Earth greatly though.
Watching him certainly changed my opinions of some of the more fierce critters he so obviously loved and respected. He definitely was a wonderful champion for all animals. Love this rendition of the Rainbow Bridge, and yes, Crikey is right!
I believe what he will be remembered for the most will be his education of the public for the respect for ALL life of God's creatures, and the ability to accept these animals and the mechanisms that God had given each of them for their own protection and preservation.
On Larry King Live they talked about the zoo and animal reserves he was responsible for in Australia, and how his name and memory would help each of these to carry on and the environment there to be preserved as a result.
I feel certain his wife, daughter, family, and friends will make sure his work continues. It would be wonderful to die and leave such a legacy behind you. I can see God telling him, "Well done, my son, well done."
Someone wrote in an addition to the Rainbow Bridge about a little black dog who makes her way through and tells the others that she is Sui, Steve's dog. She died over a year ago. Steve joyfully greets her as she leaps in his arms.
I read that Steve's funeral was today, Austrailia time at 2pm. The family has permission to bury him at Austrailia Zoo which is fitting. He fit more life in 44 years than most people twice that age. It certainly seems true that the good die young.
Well said, Kathleen. Steve made his Father proud.
Steve sure did love his little Sui! Fiesty pup she was!
No news on if there is enough money to get Harry to NYC? I have no doubt that this determined group will raise enough to cover his costs.
That whole thing was sad and sweet Mila..I'm full of tears! I was thinking about Steve's Sui and wondered what happend to her. Thanks for sharing! I'm sad, but in a good way, if thats possible.
Now:::::::::::::Lets get our little Vivi so she'll be safe and not have to hunt for food or be frightened anymore.
The amount of her fund is growing, keep up the good work guys! Think how happy we'll be when she's rescued! I can't think of anything I want more right now and for almost 7 months.
Mila,
Anything new on Sniffles? I'm lighting candles like a pyromaniac for Sniff, Vivi, Duke, Otis and a dozen more animals and people! I hope you guys find the little guy!
Don't forget the Duke site! We need to write letters and send Faxes, this is one sweet dog and he needs to go home with his loving family!

When I was so concerned I might be losing my Tinkerbell a while back, I had what I would term "a real eye opener" as well about Vivi's situation.
I thought how upset I was being separated from my precious Tinkerbell for just one night while she was in the vet's office for her IV treatment. In fact, as I drove by there that night after they closed I pulled into the parking lot and just sit there crying my eyes out.
Later, I really searched my heart about the situation for Jil and Rick being separated from Vivi. I knew my little Tinkerbell was safe and recovering in there, but they have no such reassurance about Vivi. I realized there is just absolutely no way these two people could be with this precious little creature every day, play with her as we have seen in the video of Vivi and her friends, sleep with this baby at night, and live with her day in and day out and not love her immensely.
For anyone to suggest otherwise would be absolutely crazy. I pray Vivi will be rescued for her own safety, but also so that Jil and Rick can have their baby back to once again love and enjoy as I love and enjoy my Tinkerbell!
I also pray that many of these others will have this same blessing - Kathy in Colorado, thinking of you all the time and Bowdee.
I cannot imagine my life without by babies either. They sure do grab the heart, don't they!!
Vivi has proven to be a very strong and resourceful lil girl. But, this wayward whippet needs to go home to her family and get off the streets. I wonder how much time we have to give Harry in advance to get him to NYC? And do we have enough to begin that process: Purchase the flight ticket and get him here to get started? I know he has to be paid immediately upon completion of his search, but the money is still rolling in and there should be enough once he is done?
Ruby, the faxes and mailings are still going out for Sniffles, but I have had no calls yet and I carry that phone with me everywhere. I am hopefull that someone has seen him or has been taking care of him and will call if they see a poster. There is no guaranty that the posters will be displayed, though. But, one may do it!!
God of heaven and earth, God who carries our lives and the lives of our whole community in Your hands, be with us in the peril of this night. Help us to release our anxieties and fears into those same caring hands, knowing in faith that Your will for us is life and everlasting good. Send Your holy angels to watch over us and guard us. May they spread their holy wings to give us shelter against the storm. For You alone, O God, are all good, all life, all love, and that love is for us; through
Jesus Christ our Lord.

Does anyone know if I can use Neosporin on an infected cut on my tiny chichihua until I can get her to the vet Monday?
Kay,
Should be ok if you can keep yor pup from licking it. Can you cover the cut also?
Kay, I have alwasy used that on my whippets. They run so fast and cut themselves on grass blades. I swear by it for my animals.
I also have a chihuahua. I really love him, he has a great personality. Good luck
Ruby,
Thanks for mentioning my boy. The signatures are starting to slow down. Thanks for doing your part you went above and beyond. Thank you.
The cut is under her neck so she can't lick it. I have no idea how it happened. When I take her out I walk right behind her. I am scared of hawks and owls thinking she is a rat she is so tiny 2 1/4 lbs. The cut already had a knot on it. I will try the Neosporin right now. Thanks so much.
I have been reading the information about bringing in Harry and his costs to come here. I personally think Laura and Sam have done an outstanding job every time they have come out. They are much more reasonable with costs and have been here in a drop of a hat. Their dogs have always working well. They are a reliable time and we can trust them. I know its been awhile since we have had a sighting, so I dont know how much scent dogs will pick up her scent if she has not been seen. A sighting will be the best time to bring in any SAR team. From what I understand with all SAR dogs to track, her scent needs to be fresh. Just my opinion.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers Kathleen - yesterday was two weeks since Bowdee wondered off..............
I think that scent dogs might be the only way we can find her now. However, because we don't know where she is it may take quite a long time to look in every possible area. That would be a good argument for Sam and Laura, because we might be able to afford them to stay long enough to find her. Sam and Laura have been great from the beginning.
The large area would be a good thing to discuss with Harry when assessing plans anyway and estimating costs.
Perhaps the answer may be to continue fundraising for post-Harry plans since we may be committed to Harry at this point. We may need some creative fundraising ideas because our group might have been tapped out. Some thoughts
Karen, I know we would be able to keep Laura and Sam here much longer than Harry. I would hate to see someone come out like in the past and only stay for a few days and leave again. We also need to get the correct information about how long after Vivi has laid her scent can it be tracked for. I know its been over a month since we had a sighting. The bloggers money is too valuable to waste. In NY were Vivi is lost, the area is very large. It would take many many months to track all over the state where she was, or could be. The Park along is HUGE, and thats even if she is still there.

Here is what is on Harry's site regarding scent.
"As a human or animal walks along, it sheds approximately 10,000 pieces of scent per minute. This scent falls to the ground and stays there until the wind and air currents move the scent to nearby dirt, sand, brushy vegetation areas. The scent is held there until it fully dissipates about a year later. When an animal or human walks in one specific direction it's laying down scent that the trained search dog can track up to 365 days later, even in the rain. Rain actually helps the scent. It brings the scent closer to the ground surface, keeps the search dogs nasal passages moist to help the dog retain the scent, and it will liven the scent."
Of course Vivi has been all over the place and back-tracking. Not sure how the scent hounds would be able to track the freshest scent. If several dogs were used in different directions, each supplied with something of Vivi's maybe the dogs would end up at the same place? I know nothing about this but it appears that more than one dog should be used due to the massive area that needs to be tracked. I am sure this has been discussed previously on the blog but my memory fails me....Just an age thing!!
Sharon, please add to your evergrowing list the souls of 18 horses that were killed last night when an arsonist torched their barn in St. Clair County, Michigan. How could anyone be so cruel to light up a barn and know that they would be killing innocent gentle creatures? Let's pray the arsonist is quickly caught before he repeats this horrific act.
Barbara P in MI
Barbara was this on the news? I'm not finding it on the internet.
Ooops.... the answer about the freshest scent is in the beginning of Harry site. For some reason it didn't copy:
"All search dogs will pick up the freshest scent of the animal, and track it instinctively."
Barbara P, I had not heard about the arson fire in St. Clair County, MI (I am from Livonia). What an incredibly horrific act of complete disregard to life this arsonist committed. Poor horses did not stand a chance. My heart goes out to the owners. I cannot imagine what they must be going through.
It makes me sick, hope they catch the b that started this fire.
Harry also has this posted on his website. We have had very hots days and very rainy days. Lots of people walking around the park too.
What hurts scent? Heavy vehicle and human traffic contaminates the scent. Heavy rains of 2" per day may wash the scent down. Heat dries out the scent and the search dogs nasal scent receptors making it harder for the search dog to track. Cigarette smoke contains a poisonous drug called Nicotine. Nicotine is an anesthetizing agent that can numb up the search dogs scent receptors by 95% and make the search dogs basically useless. If you smoke around your pet, the second hand cigarette smoke poison that you are putting into their little lungs (Nicotine) can also alter the missing pet’s scent, and prevent a search dog from tracking it. That's why all of our team members are non-smokers. That's also why you are never allowed to smoke around our search dogs or their handlers. You are also exposing your pet to many types of respiratory diseases and cancer.
I searched Yahoo news:
Suspicious barn fire kills 18 horses in St. Clair County
CLYDE TOWNSHIP, Mich. Authorities say a suspicious fire at a Saint Clair County barn has left 18 horses dead.
The fire at the Classic Quarter Horses farm in Clyde Township was one of six fires reported yesterday morning in the area. Firefighters also received calls about fires in a vehicle, garbage can, shed and porches.
The sheriff's department says the fire could be related to several other suspicious fires set in recent weeks in nearby Wales, Kenockee and Kimball townships.
Clyde Township Fire Chief Gary May says firefighters could NOT get inside the barn to free the horses because the flames were so intense. One horse escaped, but was so badly burned it had to be euthanized.
What about the SAR dogs that searched the WTC in New York, they managaged to still do their job, and were successful and had much more of a challenge, cuse of the situation, I imagine that any public place will have a variety of scents due to people trafficing, but still I think that is why these dogs do what they do, and still need to be given a chance. Again what do we have to lose, we need to try something that hasn't been done, a different approach, and I think that is Harry.

Sorry for double post.
I think it's settled, Harry is the one we're getting WHEN we raise the money. I said this before:::don't piss off Harry again or we'll never get him back.
I'm not saying people don't have a lot of good ideas, but Terri has talked and talked to Harry, he's coming, it's just a matter of time! We can only hope he finds the little Whippet just as we had hoped with Karin, earlier in the search, we hope with the Vivi volunteers, we hoped with anyone who searched! I will keep hoping until Harry comes and then I'll continue to hope Vivi is found! I won't give up until I have proof positive it's time!
Dukes petition is slowing down, please continue to tell your friends about the poor, sweet boy. He needs all the help he can get or he'll be put down.

Mila, I'm in Walled Lake. It was on Ch 2 and 4 this morning. It'll probably be on the news tonight too. It broke my heart to see the owners standing there in shock and tears looking at the burned out barn.
Barbara
Those poor horses, I am sick just thinking about how helpless they were, This world is so sick sometimes, Hope the catch this SOB!
Ladies,
I just got home and looked at the paper, and I was going to come on the blog, and ask you to pray for Bev, the owner of the horse barn, and the owners of the 18 horses. I live less than a half hour from this fire. We in St. Clair County love our horses, and I work with 3 teachers who board their horses out, and train horses and teach riding. I'm praying that none of them had their horses at this barn. (There are actually quite a few horse stables in the area; I pass two on my way to work.) It broke my heart to hear about Snickers, the horse a 16 year old girl had planned to ride in her homecoming parade. We have six members of an equestrian team, who are students where I teach. They will be riding in our parade. I can only imagine how inconsolable,
Snickers' 16 year old "Mama" is. I hope the arsonist, or arsonists, are caught soon and punished to the full extent of the law. Animal abuse
(let alone murder) is a felony in Michigan. While punishment won't bring back the horses, it will prevent others from being hurt. It appears the violent pattern of this particular arsonist is escalating--- a house porch, dog kennel, and truck were also reported Saturday morning also. (No it did not say if the dog(s) was hurt.) Forgive the length of this post. I guess I'm getting my grief, shock, and anger out... Pray for all involved.
That is terrible news about the horses. I hope they catch the arsonists.
I would like to thank the senders of my most recent support letters, Lois B,Martha M, Kathy in CO, Susan Lorinsky, Kay, betty layne, ophelia and Monica. For Those of you who sent checks I will be sending thank you cards. If you dont want me to please email me and tell me that you dont want one.
Please keep the support letters coming. Thanks again
Denise
Sharon, your post @ 2:38 is exactly why I got involved in the Duke Pitbull thing and the Otis, the abused Greyhound mix! Laws need to be changed about abuse!
People need to watch their dogs, they can be blamed for anything as in the case of little Duke!
Duke still needs signatures on his petition site.
I still don't have the final word on the petition I wrote for Otis. I'm hoping Monday I will get the ok on it. We need to put the abuser in jail!
Duke the sweetie pit should not be put to sleep! He did nothing, he is a sweet dog..check out his pictures on his website!

Sharon:
Is there a "group" candle site for Bev or the horses or what? I couldn't find anything so I'd appreciate the info so I can light candles! (o;
Does anyone know if Vivi has definitely been sighted since the time someone saw her at a busy intesection outside StJohns Cemetery and she was limping?
I am all for Harry coming but does anyone think it is a plausible idea for in the meantime maybe to ask for a local volunteer from maybe a local club, with dogs with scent training or earth dog training to see if they can pick up a scent?? At least we would know if the girl is still in the suspected area or not until another professional can arrive.
To Kay if you haven't gotten an answer yet: My vet has advised on cuts or even bite puncture wounds to clean out with peroxide and use neosporin or even a generic brand of same thing, and not to come in unless it gets worse or unless you need some stitching of the wound.
Annie
We
Thanks Annie. I have been using the Neosporin today but will use peroxide also.
Ahaaaa, if any of you were interested in purchasing my genuine Amber necklace, neeter, neeter, I sold it to Martha Miller, uh, actually her hubby is getting it for the fair Martha-Martha..We're getting closer and closer to the amount needed for Harry...I got $225 for the geeeeorgous necklace..You snooze you loooooose..haaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaa....

PARTY BRA? WHAT THE HECK IS A PARTY BRA? CAN THE LADIES WEAR IT WHEN THEY HIT THE STREETS LOOKING FOR VIVI? IS IT SPARKLY AND SHINY AND A 36C??
Hey Girls, pls say an extra prayer for my friend
Millicent, who is fighting with every thing she
has to try and beat her cancer. Today she lost
her beloved heart dog Jett. She was too weak
from chemo to take him to the vet, b ut her friend
called her to say he was dying, and she managed
to get herself to the vet to say goodbye to her
first greyhound, who introduced her to the world
of needle noses. I am crying as I write this, but
I needed to share this with you all my friends.
Oh, when will things get happy int his world again.
I am so down this week !!!
Awwww Sue, I'm so very sorry. I had been lighting candles for Millicent. Poor woman, she has enough to cope with, without her beloved dog dieing. I'll keep lighting candles and saying prayers for her and her dog..I'm glad yu shared your grief with us!
Sue - I am sorry to hear about your friend millicent. I too was crying when I read your post.
Hi bloggers,
Just trying to catch up on all the postings, been away this weekend. What's this about someone seeing vivi limping at a busy intersection? I didn't see anything else posted except that. Did I miss something? Any more info. on this?
Laura
Sue, I wonder if your special needle-nose is showing Millicent's needle-nose around the good old Rainbow Bridge. I'll bet she is!
Laura, I think that sighting was from a while ago...I do believe there were more since then and she was not limping.
One more thing,
My daughter has a 3 month old french bull mastiff (35 lbs. now)and when he sees someone he constantly wants to chew on their fingers. Very sharp needle teeth by the way. My daughter and her boyfriend don't know how to stop this. Any suggestions?
Laura
Three months old and 35 pounds? Wow, that is one big puppy. I would definitely have her tell anyone that comes over not to 1) put their fingers in the puppies mouth 2) watch the Cesar Milan Dog Whisperer show before the puppy gets out of control and hurts someone (I actually like a lot of what he does...I know some people are not crazy about him).
To explain Cesar's psychology behind how to "control" a dog, you really need to read his book or watch his show but the most important part of a dog's day (he thinks and I'm beginning to agree after watching the changes it has made in my dog's behavior) is exercise - at least a brisk 30 minute walk (preferrably twice a day). Playing with them in the back yard just won't suffice. Also, discipline is important as well (not the same as punishment). Then, of course, affection when they do well. Of course that is one short "blurb" of many many pages of his book. It is very interesting...
Thanks for the info. and yes, he's a big boy and still growing. He's supposed to be around 120-150 lbs. grown. He is so beautiful! I think so dog training will have to be done with him.
Laura
Thank you Lois,
I will also tell them to get that book.
Laura
Laura,
Have a chewie toy in your hand when you play with the pup. I never play rough with my dogs, never have, it only gets them going on the biting! I've had German Shepherds, a Dalmatian and now the Whippets. I never rough house with them. We play, but with a ball or a toy in a gentle way. Guys just wanna have fun with them and get rough, slap em! lol
Ruby,
We tried this weekend with the chewie in hand when he did this. He would go for the toy for about 20 seconds, then back to the hands. I don't know if it's because he likes the smell or taste of the hands. But he is gonna get much bigger and has to stop this.
Hey Sharon,,
Did Kristi find a new home or did she go back to her owners? I have been thinking about her so much.
Laura,
Heres what a dog trainer friend said::::::
"O.K. this is one of my million dollar answers. If it is finger chewing, take said finger....hehehe....and depress tongue while holding jaw of muzzle. Basically your holding dog by the tongue/jaw....Say " NO Biting" release. If done properly the pups response should be to stop. If this doesn't work let me know I have another favorite you can use."
Maybe this will work!
Ruby...
You are simply the best! Same goes for Martha and Tom! Gosh, you sure do know how to spread "warm cozies". This has to be a classic. :-)
God Bless our little Vivi angel. Help and hope and love is on the way.
Psalm 146
1 Praise the LORD. [a]
Praise the LORD, O my soul.
2 I will praise the LORD all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
3 Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortal men, who cannot save.
4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.
5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the LORD his God,
6 the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

I wonder if the puppy is craving salt or something that's missing in his diet or...maybe he's just obsessed with hands (kind of like people that get into feet or shoes or something...)
Terri, I'm glad I could help...I love the little dog and she needs to be found! Harry needs to get here and without the money, we're, uh, screwed...I'm hoping a bunch more comes in tomorrow!
NOw::::::::::Rosa has to sell her 3rd eye!
Lois, I think that hulk of a puppy wants fresh meat.haaaaa...I love those dogs, but boy do they grow fast and have big teeth!
Thanks again Sharon!
It would really be a good idea, and rewarding too, if that puppy went to a puppy kindergarten class and a trainer could give tips on managing that problem before it becomes one.
Ruby...too funny about the bra...I was in such a hurry when I got your email I kind of forgot to make a smart-aleck comment about it! :) I'm too tired to think of one now... I think it is great the necklace is going to a good home. You've just started your own necklace rescue group!
I hope this doesn't give out too much information but Mila B., Lana R. and Wendi T., I did not have an email address for you so I actually am mailing you a card with your donation ID in it!
Mila B e-mail: mlbennett@twmi.rr.com
Lois, my party bra has been well worn..haaaaaa..I take back my offer. I am now pushing people to big on Rosas 3rd eye ball...
I'm pleased that the necklace sold at a very good price and it sold to a very nice person! I beeeeees very happy! Its all for vivi!
uh, not to BIG but to bid on Rosa's 3rd eyeball...
Note to self: PROOF READ MISSY!
Psalm 86:6-12
Give ear Oh Lord to my prayer and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon you for you will answer me. Among the gods, there is none like you, niether are there any works, like your works. All nations whom you have made shall come and worship before you, Oh Lord and shall glorify your name. For you are great and you do wonderous things; you are God alone.
Good morning Daddy God. Our hearts are heavy Daddy. Please fill us with your comfort. We have had to endure sad news of the 18 horses and Jett. Please help Bev and Millicent. They are mourning and you alone can console them. We cannot touch and lift their hearts, but you can. We thank you for giving us the knowledge that the horses and Jett are with you. Without that knowledge we would have no hope. Daddy God, the sorrow of 911 lingers in our hearts. Please help the victims families to endure this Daddy. How we look to the day when you will wipe all the tears from our eyes with your gentle hand as you reunite us with all of our loved ones, human and animal alike. You are our only hope in this world, our only joy, and our only peace.
Daddy God, please bring Vivi home to the rescuer you have chosen. We continue to stand strong in our faith and we will not be moved. We thank you in advance for her safe return. Thank you Daddy for holding Vivi in the palm of your hand and for giving her fresh food, shelter and pure water to drink. Continue speaking to her heart and lead her to the right place at the right time for rescue at the "meeting place" that you have prepared. Strengthen us physically and strengthen our hearts as we stand in faith. Bless your mighty army and instruct them as their Captain. Continue to give them your wisdom, strength and perfect guidance. Help them to hear your voice as you lead them to Vivi. Thank you for the funds you have provided and bless the givers for they are not only giving money, but they are giving their hearts.
Daddy God, please help the people who are following the man in Miami who says he is Jesus. Please lead them to read the Bible so they will know the truth. Lead them away from this path of destruction that they are following.
Daddy God, continue to speak to and lead all we have brought to your throne to the safety and love of home with their families, Vivi, Biggie, Sniffles, Rags, Faithful, Little Aussie, Mommy, Daddy and Baby Girl pup, Apple Riley, Holly,( bring her out of the desert to safety) , Precious Hosanna, Buddy, Annie, African Grey, Patterson, pointer, Jack Russel, Grey Tabby, Bowdee, Yorkie, and Shimi. Let this be the day Daddy God....Let this be the day INDEED...In Jesus's Name we pray....Amen

Laura, puppies do have razor teeth. You're all going to think I'm crazy but this has worked for me every time - if the puppy bits you bite him back - don't draw blood but give him a good chomp on the tail or if the tail is docked on the ear or leg and then say in your most deep voice NO BITING. Each time the pup bits you, bit it. This has worked for me every time.
Diane
That's how I trained my kids not to bit. It worked on them.
Thanks Kathleen for the email address! :) You're way more organized than I am.
Let me know if the biting thing works! I will try it on my stallion who is just a little bit nippy and has bruised me on many occaions.
Kind of a somber day isn't it... the news, rightly so, is focused on what happened 5 years ago... I remember where I was when I heard the news. I was in my car driving to work. I live right by an airport and I'll never forget how silent the skies were by that afternoon (and for how long after). The mood in our office is beyond explaining. I'm sure everyone experienced it. My thoughts are with everyone...
Ruby,
Congratulations on selling the amber necklace!!!
To Kathy in Colorado -
Earlier this summer, my next door neighbor's cat went for a stroll one day and didn't bother to come home for a month. My neighbor had about given up all hope. She thought the cat was dead and the next day, she found it laying in her flower bed when she went out to water her flowers. It was a very upset kitty because it had been gone for so long. Since then the cat has stayed closer to home and of course, drives my dogs nuts every day! Just a little note to help keep your hopes up! All the best to you in your searches for your kitty.
You are welcome Lois. Mila is a sweet kindred spirit who I greatly enjoy communicating with.
I also remember where I was. At home, and was about to head to my doctor's office. I had my second cotaract surgery on my right eye the day before, and was going for the follow-up appointment before he would let me return to work.
My oldest son woke up on the futon in the living room with the TV on. He thought it was a movie with some incredible special effects, and then realized it was real and headed back to my bedroom to see if I was awake. I was sitting at my desk in shock watching the news.
About 5 minutes later my son in New Mexico called, and he was so stressed. He told me he wanted us to know he loved us if anything happened to any of us. He later told me that was the hardest time for him being so far away from his family at college there.
I pray we will never see anything like this again. I guess that is why is pray so hard for Peace and Love. I missed my avenue in the '70's - so guess I am becoming one of those older hippies preaching this now!
If you have not seen the World Trade Center, I believe everyone should see it. It is not with lots of upsetting scenes, it is done with very much taste and an incredible message of how good overcame so much evil that day and in the days to follow. Nicholas Cage and the other actor (the two NYPDs) did an incredible job in their parts. It really touched my soul deeply.
Darlene is suppose to be back today, that should cheer everyone up! She can always make me laugh and I think we all need a laugh or two today. Things are just too sad with good reason, but we need to snap out of our doom and gloom! Think of the good things we need to do, helping Vivi, Duke and Otis and lighting candles for the many people on the prayer list..We need to
THINK, Bowdee back to Kathy and pray that he feels our energy!
Kathy, have you gone door to door with a picture of Bowdee? Keep checking as your doing, don't give up, he could be just around the corner! (O:
Duke the sweet Pitbull, accused of something he didn't do has been in a shelter, away from his family for over 2 years yet he continues to be a joy for everyone who knows or meets him. Be sure to sign the petition to save him! There are 2,774 signatures as of today, but the more the better! This sweet dog needs to go home to his family!
www.SaveDuke.homestead.com/
Pam in MN - thank you for that story - I am hoping that is what will happen - that he will stroll back home like nothing happened.
Ruby - yes - I have asked all the people in the neighborhood and the surrounding blocks - and have even recruited the kids around the area to keep an eye out - they are always riding their bikes and skateboards so they see a lot that I don't see and they know a lot too - they are noisy in a good way - I have hung posters with Bowdee's picture and continue to check the shelters and the paper - the shelters are heartbreaking - I never see Bowdee there but I sure see a lot of hopeful faces that want me to open their cage door and bring them home - it is so hard to just pet them shortly and walk away - there are so many and I can't dare make myself go back to the dog area - I wish there was a way to have every dog, cat, bird, pet in a happy home so that we wouldn't need shelters anymore. What a day that would be
For all of the Long Islanders out there, Since the Town of Islip shelter has been so kind to me I would like to return the favor. Town of Islip Animal Shelter is having a 1st annual pet adoption fair Sat Sept 23 10am to 3pm. I would like to help spread the word.
Kathy (CO) - You need to join the same club that TJill and I evidently belong to:
"Our philosophy is we wish all children and animals could be safe and loved."
You just phased it a little different, but you definitely belong in this club. No wonder we all love you so much.
"I wish there was a way to have every dog, cat, bird, pet in a happy home so that we wouldn't need shelters anymore. What a day that would be."
Prayers for dear, sweet Bowdee. Hope he will be home soon and never stray again.
To Lois Baker -
This is a response to a post from Sept. 8. I do not know Nancy Kaminski. I happened upon this website by chance when I was searching for Vivi news a few months ago. Alot of people I know aren't the animal lover like I am - so I have found this to be a great spot to voice concerns about Vivi, etc.
Thanks denise..I know what you've said about the shelter that has been taking care of DUKE and I wish them good luck..Hide your boy, someone might want him! haaaa...It sounds like a special place, they have treated Duke like the sweet boy he is!

Kathy (CO) I know just how you feel. My dog has been living in one since dec 26, 2003. Breaks my heart.
On 9/11 the world was attacked, they thought we'd just move on and we'd never fight back , us Americans back down , no way, you tried to destroy us that day . What did we ever do to you Bin Laden ? We are Americans , and proud to be, I guess that's just not acceptable for your evil eyes to see. You don't like it when we smile, and you sure don't agree with our lifestyle . You threw us a curve ball and we have missed but hey Bin Laden I promise you this, your people on flight 93 did not go down as heros, they were taken down by proud Americans, too proud to let you win , they had a plan and knew that may not live through that awful day , before all the chaos on board they prayed, prayed for peace, for the families to see why they had to play it this way, calling home , and crying good bye. Together as a team they stormed through the cock pit door and the terroists were not able to complete their mission , it was disrupted by them , yes the proud Americans. Though they did not live to see another day, they died our heros on that day.
My prayers go out to ALL the families today !
And also keeping faith for Vivi...
Chrissy, thank you. You said it best...
Where are you Lois? Do we have enough to bring Harry in yet?
Love to you all...
Last time I went to a shelter, I adopted a pathetic little very old, almost hairless, because of a skin condition, Shih-tzu'. I had to have her spayed, 4 teeth pulled and after 6 months, I finally house broke the little girl. Her hair grew back after she was put on a healthy diet. They thought she was a "breeder" for a back yard breeder and was getting too old to have pups..
Ruby - Sounds like that was this sweet little lady's day when you arrived there. What did you name her and is she still living with you?
Just so everyone knows they had 77 dogs involved with the search at 9/11 sites. Not one of those dogs has problems because of the search, no problems with lungs, no asthma, nothing according to a 5 year search, they were just on fox news ,if one thing can make this day a little brighter that would be it...
do we know when Duke the Pitbull's next court date is?
Chrissy - Thanks. That was the one part of the movie World Trade Center where I started to cry. They showed the paramedic walking through the crowd of searchers to get some food, and he passed by one of the search dogs lying there, looking dirty, and very tired. It was being loved by the handlers and rescuers. I started crying my eyes out!
Late one night I heard on the news how these brave dogs were getting their pads so torn up. They asked for doggie booties to be donated for them. Well, off my Tommy and I went on a race to Petco before they closed to buy treats and doggie booties for these brave little animals. Then we rushed over to a truck on Highway 64 in Memphis to make sure they left that very night on that truck heading for New York. When I saw this dog, it brought back those memories so vivid to me and how I felt that night.
she sounds precious!!!
I know Denise - I'm so sorry for that - but we will spring Duke and he will be home with you. Life just isn't fair most of the time. When is the next court date for Duke?
no new court date yet...looks like it may take another 6 - 8 weeks before we know. But at least my baby stays alive. Who cares if the shelter fees are over 4500? whats another 6 - 8 weeks.AT LEAST I STILL HAVE MY BABY!!!
Kathleen,
Since she was living in the pound on Santa Rita Road in Pleasanton California, I named her Rita and no, she's not with me anymore. She was very old and is now
with her buddy, Bodean, my Dalmatian and all my other dogs who are in doggie heaven.
Denise, hows the money collection coming? Did you find a job to help pay for Dukes very big bills at the shelter and for the attorney? I hope people help and that your Duke fund raiser is a big success!

So glad Rita got a chance at "the good life" before going to doggie heaven. Love that name Bodean. I must remember that one. So cute. If I ever adopt another Chihuahua, that would be a great name!
I called my Bodean, Bowdee, same as Kathy's cat!She was a dog with an attitude like so many Dalmatians.
ruby,
Have a job interview tomorrow. waiting for calls from 2 other places. PO Box was empty today. Thanks for asking.
Ruby
How long was Rita with you?
denise, I had Rita 4 years. I also had another rescue for 4 years. My Tinker was a German Short Hair Pointer. Sweet very old girl who was badly abused by the guy who kept her as a "junk yard dog", behind a cyclone fence..She escaped and my daughter "rescued her", wink, wink and I kept her!
Ruby - I have a German Short-Hair Pointer right now by the name of Mabel. Even though we have chainlink fence, she has to be kenneled or tied out because she is an escape artist. We got a call from the sheriff's dept. one time that they had picked up our dog and would we please come and get her. When I pulled up to the office, she looked out of the garage with a look of "About time someome came to get me!" She was a very delinquent teenager. Now she has settled down somewhat in middle age.
Pam, my old girl, Tinker never tried to leave my yard. I only had her out to play or potty or when I could watch her. When I got her she was skin and bones, covered with cuts and sores from abuse the vet thought. She was a sweetie and lived with my old Dalmatian who wasn't crazy about other dogs, but liked Tinker..I gave her Glycoflex for her bones and later, Ascriptin for her arthritis..I had her cremated and still have her ashes.. )O;
Maybe its just me but 4 years doesnt seem long enough to me. I am hoping to get that many more with my dukie. Now that I've lost almost 3 years with him.
Ruby - My Siberian Husky was not too crazy about other dogs either when Mabel arrived on the scene. It took about a day and a half and they were buds. Mabel (as a pup)would grab Jadzia's tail and as she spun around, Mabel would go for an airplane ride (like kid's do.) Now the two old fogies are best buds.
Denise,
With all the letters and signatures you have for Duke, he's going home! He has to go home, he's a good boy and needs his mom! I hope people keep sending letters to you so you can take them when you go to court!

One of my missions is to save Duke! ( O:

This is just a small part of a letter sent to me by Senator Lieberman re: the slaughter of horses. Connecticut is on their side.
"As a lover of horses, please rest assured that I will do all I can to
ensure that not one more American horse is needlessly slaughtered for
human consumption. To keep track of future actions on S. 1915 or H.R.
503, you can go to the "Bill Tracking" service at
http://lieberman.senate.gov/issues/resources."
Oh, Pam thank you it was the first time I laughed today---Mable going for an airplane ride on the end of the tail of a husky--I can picture that!!!
Me too Martha. That must have been a sight to behold. Sure hope Mable's teeth were not too sharp though! Poor husky's tail!
Needed a laugh. It has been a very rough day for me too. Thanks.
Thanks, Gail for posting what Sen. Lieberman said. I had hoped he and Sen. Dodd would support the bill.
Terri, How are the funds going for Harry? I sent out a donation today. Do we have enough to get him here? With all the depressing news in the world, we need a ray of hope.
TY Chrissy for the news that the 9/11 search dogs are in good health! One of my friends and I were wondering about them just the other day since so many humans involved are developing diseases. I emailed your post to my friend and I am going to be on the lookout on the Fox channels in case they repeat the story.
Does anyone know what the scoop is on the poop that was being being DNA'd that might be Vivi's? If you know who is in the loop, please remind them to post it here when they know.
With love,
Tara from LI
PS: hey I'm making rhymes: scoop poop loop ...
I was happy to hear it !!! A book has just come out about the dog heros of 9/11, but I was to teary eyed to remember it , I think something like the "dog heros of 9/11" .The Dogs are beautiful, and very well taken care of . The owners are very attatched and proud of them. Have a good night.
The total amount received today was $735.00. Our total received to date is $3760.00.
So where are we now Terri? Are we ready to go. ViVi's ready for Harry.:)
Diane and everyone else that offered suggestions for my daughter's dog finger chewing:
While I was at my daughter's house this weekend when the puppy starting biting her boyfriend's fingers he bit him back on the cheek but it seemed not to phase him: went right back to biting the fingers. I'll have to tell them to be consistent with this method and see how it goes. Thank you everyone for all the suggestions. I'm sure they will be putting every one of them to use with my new "grandson".
Laura (Luca's grandma)
Tara,
You are what I'd call a really, really, uh, good poet.haaaaaaaaaaaa

We really need the scoop on the poop.
Laura
My dog was a nipper also, and those razor teeth hurt like hell. She was also teething at that time. Everytime she did the nipping I would hold her mouth shut that's what her trainer said to do and told her NO, she hated it but the nipping stopped. I also gave her very hard bones to chew like the mammoth bones, they are good for the gums and they will chew on them for a long time. Could this dog be teething? By the way my dog was 60lbs at 6 months old and is now 120lbs of pure joy. She is still a bad girl stealing things, but I love her anyway, she's my bad girl.
Kathy, Continued prayers for Bowdees safe return
Dont give up h ope yet, cats are weird,,in that
they will return home after months of being out
on the prowl. He will come home, Have faith
my friend
Laura, what helped me through teething, is something called a "chilly bone" it's a very tough canvas material you soak in water and place in your freezer for 1/2hr, then you give it to them to chew if feels good on their gums, as it thaws you re wet freeze and give it to them when needed. Rosa
Kathy,
I was talking to my neighbor who has cats and she said her cat got out and didn't come back home until 2 months later so like Sue said don't give up hope. Bowdee will come home.
Did anyone hear anything yet on Kristi, the lab that Sharon has been talking about.
HEY ROSA!
I sold my amber necklace! Did you sell your third eye or is it still for sale? haaaaaaaaa...Maybe someone who's has a problem with her third eye will buy it..wink, wink...
Debbie: Yes my new "grandson" is teething. He
