A dollop of good news

Search coordinator Bonnie Folz writes:

<<GOOD NEWS!!

Two of Karin's dogs picked up scent at Mt. Hebron Cemetery and they have confirmed it is Vivi's scent!  Karin is on her way to check the sighting we got in Kew Gardens when we were out with Laura and Sam, which is not far from Mt Hebron cemetery.
Fingers crossed!
Keep the faith!>>

Good and I hope it is our Vivi but I won't be pleased she is out on the streets - not at all. But at least some of this arguing can stop.

Go Karin & your wonderful dogs!! Thank you for giving us some hope again!!

Can we all take a moment???????? Today is November 15th. It has been 9 long hard months since our precious little Vivi started this long adventure and all of us followed her. Can we all say a prayer that she is safe, uninjured, not hungry or thirsty and that she will be found soon. Maybe we can all go to the candle site and light a candle for her too.

Way to go Karin. We knew our girl was still out there. We will not give up on ViVi.

Good idea Kathy

Mt. Hebron Cemetery is adjacent to Flushing Meadows Park. This little rat could be looping again!!! LOL Her pattern is too damn big!

Lisa E.

Lisa,

Is Mt Hebron cemetery in Kew Gardens

I've been kicking something around in my head. If this is Vivi over at Mt. Hebron, that is also close to Peck Park. Supposedly Harry picked up a scent at Diane's house which was supposedly Vivi's leash or collar. What if the scent really was Vivi and not her leash? Maybe Vivi is sneaking around Diane's house because SHE smells a familiar scent and is snooping around trying to find it!!

Just a thought. And, before this is taken out of context, I just want to say that I do not think nor have I ever thought for one single second that the searchers have anything to do whatsoever with any fabricated story of Vivi being "stolen". Those girls have busted their butts out there and the accusations being made against them are shameful. I am in no way implicating Diane in any of this. I am implicating Vivi's nose and Vivi's leash. Maybe it would be a good idea to put one of those cameras at Diane's house to see if there are any hits.

Lisa E.

No one would think Diane capable of absconding with Vivi - but you are right about the scent - and that could very well be it.

Actually, it borders Kew Gardens Hills and Flushing.

The area is loaded with low-rise and mid-rise coop buildings. Kew Gardens is further south and is closer to Forest Park and Richmond Hill. It's about a mile and a half east of Woodhaven Blvd, which was where she was last sighted a few months ago (I think).

Lisa E.

Lisa - isn't it a shame that whenever you say anything you have to make a statement to CYA? So many people take things out of context or "the wrong way" - I knew what you were saying before you had to write your disclaimer. Good idea too

Thanks Lisa.

That's what I (and others, of course) have been trying to say- those scents they MAY have picked up around the searchers homes are possibly a good thing and the conclusion drawn from them was just COMPLETELY faulty. Looked at less boneheadedly, maybe there is something to be learned from that hit back then. Instead of this weird division that seems to break down along the lines of whther we believe some among us have Vivi or we, uh, don't believe that.

Ths a very cool development and I hope we can now move forward.

Thanks Kathy. I really could care less about covering my butt with certain individuals on this board, but it would absolutely break my heart if those girls thought that I even suspected them of any wrongdoing. I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of them personally and the accusations being made against them make me want to puke!

Lisa E.

Anytime, Marty. If you have any other questions, just ask or e-mail me.

Lisa E.

Amen Lisa and Karen. I agree with your points. I'm getting fired up again!! Go foot soldiers!!

I am crying as I read these updates, please VIVI come home to the foot soldiers. It is time for you to go home, please dear God help her find the right person to show her face to and trust. Please dear God let us all focus on the upcoming holidays and be able to send Vivi home to celebrate. This does not mean we will stop helping all the other lost fur creatures, I know I will continue to do my rescuing efforts after Vivi goes home and I am sure the rest of the crew will too, just send this one home. St. Anthony find her and guide her to her safe haven. These amazing people on this blog need to have some good news and lots of it.

Bless all of you foot soldiers and all the trackers, what a GREAT bunch of people on this site.

I just thought of something funny!! Wouldn't it be a wonderful crazy ending to such a crazy nine months if Vivi found the searcher instead of the other way around!!!!! ROFLMAO

Lisa E.

Lisa,

Are those low rise buildings apartments you are talking about? I have a idea for sending flyers and that's why I'm asking.

I'm joining you Lisa E. on that thought!!!

Yes, there are a bunch of garden apartments that are two-three stories high and some mid-rise that are usually about five-seven stories.

Lisa E.

HOOOOORAY!!!!!!! we are getting back on her trail!!! nw, if we don't fall over before finding her, we are in good shape!!!! i knew KARIN could do it!!!! she really knows her stuff ( and I would know running with her dogs). GRRRREAT!!!!! sitting by my cell awaiting "the call." c'mon, Rosa and Tina - call me!!!! come to Karen, Vivi!!!!!

Marty - e-mail me if you need help. Like I said!!
I'm fired up and rarin' to go!!

Okay Pam. thanks

Lisa,

Do you know what street they are on? The reason why I'm asking is when we sent flyers for Ticket to Georgia we did the reverse addresses and sent flyers to every house to different streets around his last sighting. We could get ViVi's flyer right to the people.

Kewi Gardens area looks great from what I've seen on google - now a dog sure could hide around there and not be seen.

Come On find our little girl. All I can say it, it would almost put her by the World's fair & by Kissena again.. The only thing blocking her is the Highway..
But maybe that little Viven found a street to get threw...... Let pray that something gives

It seems like maybe those bigger apartment buildings that have mailrooms could use a little stack of business cards or flyers. These would probably be most effectively hand delivered by people on the ground. Maybe?

Yes Karen I agree.

Karen,

Good idea but they are security buildings and outsiders can't just walk in and out. That being said, however, it might be worth a try to lurk and ring a doorbell or two and tell the tenants why we want to get in (or speak to the doorman for bldgs that have them).

Tara

Yes, it is indeed good news and if they want to put a camera by my house I so GO FOR IT. I have no problem with that - in fact I have the perfect spot that would overlook the front of the house but still be hidden.

Hi Marty,

There are multiple streets. It's a very congested area. I could find out the names of some cooperative complexes in the area and let you know.

Lisa E.

Okay Lisa. Thank you so much.

Thank you Daddy God!!! Lead your army straight to Vivi. Help them Daddy I beseech you in Jesus's name. Bring her home to safety and rescue. You alone are God and we look to you. You have led Karin's dogs to Vivi. Bring this to a close filled with rejoicing and laughter in our hearts. Continue to guide your searchers with your Holy Spirit. Show them the way Daddy. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! Bring Vivi to the rescuer you have chosen quickly. TODAY DADDY!! I praise your Holy and Blessed name.

Unfortunately, there are no "mailrooms" that deal with the mail. Just local postal workers. Dara Gardens has a 24-hour security gate, and let me tell you, they are STRICT!! The garden apartments are set up like attached row houses with multiple addresses for each. Some of these complexes have 20 or more buildings associated with them. There really isn't any way to target any one address. Management may help but it is highly unlikely, but you never know.

Lisa E.

Thanks Lisa.

marty - may be around streets in the 70's area. could be - don't know exacts. when Karin's dogs go, they really go!!! you just hang on tight and follow. they could have gone blocks and blocks by now.... those dogs don't mess around - they are some of the best...
karen and mail gang - anyone do the post offices yet?? now, THEY can get into the lobbies if they have the inside mailboxes... god - i wish i knew a mailman over there. they could easily put the fliers in. some of them did when we were at peck park as a favor to us. let me know about the PO's - i can try to get them if you guys can't.

I was thinking we might try emailing the offices of the apartment buildings and asking if they'd be willing to accept flyers if we delivered them or mailed them...You guys have to advise us on what's possible. Thanks for that. We are just guessing. However, I remember when you guys were talking about blanketing College Park (back in the dark ages) and everyone seemed to know just what to do and I was saying I don't know how! Help meeee.
I know how now.

We will wait for the final report to figure out where to go with the flyers.

Sorry, Darlene, I don't mean to correct you, but the 70's are Avenues and Roads. The streets fall into the 130's-150's.

I hate Queens!!! LOL Streets, roads, lanes, places, Avenues, they all have the same damn names but are all located in different areas!!! LOL 70th Street would put you over in Jackson Heights and Woodside, Middle Village!!! ROFLMAO Trust me, I found out the hard way, many times. It could always be worse. She could be in Maspeth where all of the one-way signs are pointing in different directions leaving you without a friggin clue as to which direction you should go, and then to piss you off even more, they throw a cemetery right in the middle of things!!!

OK, I'm done venting about Queens for now!! LOL Forgive me, I'm stressed. Two more days and then I take the big 40 plunge. I'm holding on to 39 as hard as I can!!! LOL

Love ya,
Lisa E.

That's a great ideal Karen.

Lisa E: The big 4-0 is nothing. It's the one after that that's scary. (50!)

I've already begun stocking up in the drug department for that one Pam!! LOL

Lisa E.

40 - 50 - they are what you make them - every age can be good if you make it that way. It helps if you stock up on hair dye tho :)

Yes, the hair dye does help!!LOL

Got that already.LOL BTW, blondes do have more fun!!! LOL Unfortunately, most of the time I look like a skunk turned inside-out!! LOL

Lisa E.

Well, one time I looked like a blonde, frizzy tomato. I had frosted my hair, gotten a perm and then spent a weekend by a lake and got sunburned.
Rather a scary sight for a few days.

OMG!!! I did the same exact thing!!!!! ROFLMAO It's amazing that my hair didn't fall out of my head!!!

I guess you had to love the 80's and the big hair!!

Remember the Stiff Stuff?

Lisa E.

Yes, I do!!

Lisa E - I remember the "stiff stuff." One of our neighbor's wrapped her stiff hairdo in toilet paper at night to keep it in place. Her husband would say he did not know whether to kiss her goodnight or flush her down the toilet!

Such wonderful news about our dear Vivi. Also, so nice to see the full "TEAM VIVI" excited, less stressed and being kind to each other again. Thank you God for such a blessing!

Hooray for Karin and the pups!!!
Candles and big time prayers that our little one will be safely found.
Barbara

Hooray!!! Let me know what I can do to help, Marty. I'm on pins and needles here.

Martha - if you are out there, I tried to e-mail you but it didn't go through. I will try later.

Martha is out here, killing herself laughing a skunk turned inside out!!!!!!!

Such wonderful news. Go Doggies Go and please help bring our little whippet home to CA.

Hello everyone !!! Good news today... Keeping my fingers crossed and you know I'm always keeping the faith ... Lots of candles lit here , also very happy to have Karin back... :)

crap - sorry Lisa - i meant in the 70's road-wise... didn't mean to confuse anyone there....
should have been more specific. but by now - they are still on the move, i'm sure.

I know virtually nothing about tracking dogs, and am curious for anyone who might know... why Laura's and Sam's dogs couldn't "confirm" the Vivi scent they got, but Karin's dogs could? I'm just curious, but couldn't be happier!
This is indeed wonderful news! I feel like we've been waiting for so long for some good Vivi news. While it breaks my heart to think of her still on the streets, at least now we have somewhere to focus on and can still get her home!

I just wanted to set the record straight regarding Diane's location..........
Although Valorie was in that immediate vicinity, she did NOT get Vivi's scent there. I repeat. Valorie did NOT get Vivi's scent anywhere near Diane T.'s home.

Wow, she is one amazing whippet. I think she has broken the mold as far as a sight hound beating all odds!

I hope all of you foot soldiers get some really good leads from Karin when she is done with her search.

Best to all of you, all fingers and paws remain crossed for Vivi!

I have a question, do some of you foot soldiers live pretty near the area they have found her scent?

That would be awesome if she came to one your homes!
I know that is pretty far-fetched, but it would be awesome.

Martha - I think my computer is ill so it might be awhile before I can e-mail you. I'll have to get it checked out.

The reason they said it was not confirmed is that a second dog coming from a different direction did not pick it up when they were here and this time two dogs at different times did.

Karen, thanks for explaining that.

SHOULD HAVE THE FINAL PROOF WITH VIVI'S PICTURE ON IT TOMORROW FROM THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS.

I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I HAVE IT AND MAYBE GAIL CAN PUT IT ON HER WEBSITE SO EVERYONE CAN SEE IT WHO WANTS TOO???

Karen, thanks for explaining how they confirm a scent. I don't know much about tracking except what I see on TV.

I only know from what I've see on Vivi TV. Something like that.. Just one of the couple of million things I have learned from this

Have to agree that a few things have been learned since this odyssey started 9 months ago!

I haven't caught up on the blog yet today, but could they possibly leave her leash out in the yard overnight maybe a few times if she is near searchers' homes? Maybe she will start frequenting the area. I know articles with her scent are precious, but I would think it would be pretty well impregnated in the leather.

Also I have thought maybe someone is walking her through these areas if it is someone who truly does not know who she is. Depending on the type of neighborhood and if it is heavily posted, it is just possible.

What good news her scent is still in the area!!

This is very encouraging news! I haven't been on the blog in a long time, but happened to have a dream around 4:00 this morning that I looked out my front window and saw a whippet sniffing at my mailbox. She had all Vivi's distinctive markings, and some neighbors called out to her, "Lili, Lili!" and she ran to them. When I woke up, I realized, her name's not Lili, that was Vivi! I rarely dream in such vivid color and detail. (The other night when I dreamed about my own whippet, Riley, he was a baby elephant. But in that dream, at least I got the name right...)

Anyway, the dream got me thinking about Vivi, and I thought I would check the blog to see if there's been any progress. It would be great if this search were finally coming to an end.

Just Paul - That is SO BIZARRE! I think you may have been dreaming about Vivi and the dachshund named Lillie I am trying to figure out a way to get to Memphis.

The little girl who was going to adopt her has not shown up, so I have been trying ways to figure this situation out. I had wanted to adopt Lillie too.

The means of getting her from New York to Memphis by my friend, Amanda, fell under. Amanda will probably not be in New York until January.

There is no way I can fly there and try to bring her home, and too far to drive. My last resort, I am going to try contacting the Dachshund Underground Railroad to see if they can help.

Maybe you were dreaming about Lillie in NJ!

Oh Kat, you really need to get Lily to your home.
She is such a doll baby. Hazel is doing fabulous
with my MIL, they bonded immed. I still can foster
her for a bit if someone can get her to you before
X-mas. Keep trying

I am attaching a link that has photographs of the seven stolen show dogs:

http://animalresourcescentral.homestead.com/LostAndFound-PHOTOS.html

Hmmm. Kathleen, there must be a way for you to get a dachshund from NY/NJ to Memphis, especially at Thanksgiving. If you have Craig's List or other personal-type ads in Memphis, or ask around through friends at your church/school/work or bulletin board at the local university, someone must be going home to NY/NJ for Thanksgiving, and coming back to Memphis right afterward, who wouldn't mind carrying a cute little dog on their lap on the plane.

Thanks Just Paul. I'm brainstorming. If there is a way, I will find it. If it is God's Will, it will happen I know.

Thanks for your support and SueG too. I am so happy Hazel is with your mother-in-law. It will do both of them so much good.

Since someone posted their dream, here's what I was picturing about 2 nights ago when trying to meditate on Vivi and get some mental pictures:

a tombstone; an oval shape(maybe with a photograph in it); a baby; blond hair in what we used to call a flip, about shoulder length with sides pulled back tied in a ribbon at back of head (maybe because I read so many Sedona posts!); blouse with standup ruffled neck collar.
a small wooden (foot?) bridge with upward bowed plank floor.

hubcaps, car door opening to view of plush fabric seats, leash, and a purse.

Have you seen anything else, Sedona? I like to read your posts despite others' comments

I don't know Libby. I'm exhausted right now. Just waiting for news on what the trackers found. I thought Vivi was being taken for walks in town and was going to post about it, but decided against it. To me, your dream sounds like something around Queens though, and I wonder if someone was visiting a grave because I too think Vivi is near the cemeteries and I wondered how that could be and also is caught - maybe someone came across her while visiting a tombstone - that sounds plausible.

I JUST THE PROOF AND GAIL IS NOW WORKING ON GETTING IT ON HER WEBSITE. IT ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN LOOKING AT IT YOU CAN EMAIL ME AND I WILL SEND IT TO YOU IN THE MEANTIME..

Yikees! Very bad typing!!

MADISON UPDATE:

Thought I would add some more good news to this blog.

I just called and talked to John (Madison's Dad), and Princess Madison is doing very well. She is looking around and responding to the environment around her much more than before. They also have a new nurse, and she is very good.

Sparky got the last of his sutures out today. When he goes outside, he is running all around and seems fine now. John is going to give him a bath so he can spend more time with them now. So I think Sparky will be just fine!

Now to catch a whippet tonight!

Where is everyone? This is getting tense--no posts for more than 2 hours on the blog. I hope that means good news.

As promised....

Gail set up a link for me for the classified ad proof in The New York Daily News.

http://meshirer.net/vivi/ad/80400rn2l-14.pdf

Maybe everything is falling into place. I stopped by St. Mary's a bit early before choir tonight, and lit a candle for the search. Today's Psalm is the 23rd, and there's that shepherd theme, I get stuck on every time I think and pray about Vivi. While we often associate this Psalm with sad times-- it really is not. It talks about a Shepherd who will do anything for those who are His own--animals included, and especially Vivi if your consider how long she has survived under trying conditions. The Psalm is, let's face it, associated with funerals,
and after all how many cemeteries has this little girl been in. I'm free associating here, but Mt. Hebron really resonates with me. May I ask a favor.
In praying the Psalm and prayer tonight can you picture Vivi "praying" it. Let's put her in the care of our wonderful Shepherd! Such wonderful news!

Sharon-- A beautiful psalm indeed. I grew up in a new subdivision out in the country--the beginning of sprawl here, and we had a cemetery just across the road that was one of the boundaries of our plat.

I was only 8 yrs old when we moved there, but it was the most beautiful place, and was an historic one for the county too. I have always loved cemeteries they are always so beautiful and peaceful. I never felt they were spooky. It was practically in our backyard and I never had problems sleeping or anything.

I still love them today. There are a couple along the bike paths I ride and I always have to stop and sit or browse in them. Maybe that is why Vivi likes them--always so peaceful and restful and usually beautiful oases in whatever they are in the middle of.

Your idea of sending pictures to Vivi is great. Everyone should do that. I have read a few animal communicator books and they all say animals think in pictures as they do not have language. You should try to get pictures from them too if you want to know their thoughts.

The amazing Temple Grandin has written many books on animals. She is autistic but has gotten a PhD in animal husbandry I think. She says she thinks in pictures which is why she has such an amazing bond with animals. If you love animals, read anything and everything she has written. She is an amazing woman.

Animals in Translation: Using the Mysteries of Autism to Decode animal Behavior
is one of her great books.

The Lord, Shepherd and Host
(A psalm of David)
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd;
there is nothing I lack.
In green pastures you let me graze;
to safe waters you lead me;
you restore my strength.
You guide me along the right path
for the sake of your name.
Even when I walk through a dark valley,
I fear no harm for you are at my side;
your rod and staff give me courage.

Father, Creator, Great Shepherd, You have taken such wonderful care of our Vivi. She lacks nothing,
You let her chase squirrels and wild life in open meadows and parks. She finds water to drink. You help her find places to sleep, and even if that is in a cemetary, You let her feel Your presence. Lead her in a right path to one of the volunteers. Guide her on the way home to Rick and Jil. Give the same guidance to all the lost ones including Tarik, Ticket, Bowdee, Sniffles... Take special care of the show dogs that were stolen. See that they are cared for, and give the thiefs a great burden of guilt and sleeplessness so they will return them. (Just a suggestion, Father, You know me, and I know You will come up with the best solution.) We lift these and all of our prayers to You in confidence...

We pray this night,Father, that You continue Your watch over Vivi,Zoey,Vern,Bowdee,Ticket,Tarik, Butttons,Biggie,Sniffles,Holly, African Grey, Faithful (the little girl's seizure dog),Shimi, Yorkie, Black Afghan, Buddy, Rags, Precious, Whippet Annie, so that not even “one paw slips”. Let our faith grow as a result of this experience! Restore as we sleep, Heavenly Father, as we turn over the night watch to you! YOU ARE IN CHARGE! AMEN!
Candles? http://www.gratefulness.org

Amen Sharon.

Interesting how verses will strike us during certain times. I find that and the hymns from my childhood in my mind often.

One night I was so very depressed about losing my grandmother, and I opened the Bible she had left me (I gave her this with the larger print as her eyes failed). In her Bible was not only the most perfect verse highlighted, but also a sweet note from her telling me not to grieve, but to celebrate her life, for she would see me again in Heaven some day, and we would never have to say goodbye again.

This event may have saved my life that night. Like we have said, God works in mysterious ways! As I have enjoyed her Bible regularly, I have found the sweetest messages she has left me about our lives together and how much I was loved. Of course, I never doubted that - not for one second of my life.

Excuse me people, I really do know that the plural of thief is theives. It must be time to call it a night. Good night everyone. Let's expect good news tomorrow.

Sharon's suggestion is excellent...Imagery and intention are very powerful , we just haven't been raised with that idea. Sometimes with my animals I do imagery and pictures instead of just word or commands, and it very often works even though I'm no expert in this stuff. And if a group of us do it...

BTW, Psalm 23 is not a psalm I chose for today. It is actually the Psalm for the day, according to our Lectionary. I didn't choose the psalm, it was already chosen for today!

I do this too--try to send pictures and positive thoughts to my dogs. I can't think of an exact picture to send to Vivi.

Maybe someone should post a link to a picture of a location that is in the vicinity of where her scent has been picked up and we can all try to send that picture to her

Karen (VA), I also read Animals in Translation, a fantastic book and I found it to be very true. Twice a year my dog refuses to come back up the back deck stairs after we let her out. I finally figured it out, I think as the seasons change the light casts shadows on the stairs which either scares her or causes her to have difficulty seeing. The book covers these things in relation to cows...

Matthew 21:22
All things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.

Good morning Daddy God. How we rejoice in your mercy and love. Thank you Daddy for showing everyone that Vivi is near. Bless her and us with her rescue and deliverance from the streets. We lift up your mighty army and we ask you to fill them with your strength, power, wisdom and guidance. Lead every step they take Daddy and bring them to Vivi so she can come home. Daddy God, continue to speak into Vivi's heart and show her that she is safe with the rescuer you have chosen. Lead her into their loving arms. We thank you with all of our hearts for your never ending care over Vivi. You have been so faithful to us in your love and mercy. And you have been extremely faithful to little Vivi. How she needs you and we do too Daddy. Vivi's heart cries out to you and you hear her and provide every need. We know you will bring her to rescue soon. Let it be today Daddy God. How we stand in faith, believing in you and you alone, for you are the maker of all things and all of us are in your hands. We stand in faith and we will not be moved. We lift all of our loved ones to you. We trust you Daddy God and place our loved ones in your hands for deliverance, healing, and total redemption.
Luke 15:4
What man of you having a hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, does not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness; and go after that which is lost until he find it?
Daddy God, continue to speak to and lead all we have brought to your throne to the safety and love of home with their families. Help us to find them Daddy God. Vivi, Biggie, Sniffles, Rags, Faithful, Little Aussie, Mommy, Daddy and Baby Girl pup, Apple Riley, Holly, (bring her out of the desert to safety) , Precious Hosanna, Buddy, Annie, African Grey, Patterson, pointer, Jack Russel, Grey Tabby, Bowdee, Yorkie, Shimi, the cemetary strays Buttons , Ticket, Tarik , Black Afghan Hound, Lola, Manee, Vern and Zoey. Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes, we are healed.
Holy Jesus, continue to touch our little ones with your precious healing power, CJ, Dante, Felice, Max, Little McGee, Murphy, Mylie, Barbaro, Gunner, Linus, Kiva, Ellie,(restore all that had to be taken), Morgan, Little Andi, Nicki, Dude, Brandy, Tucker, Lexie, Isabella,Twin Kittens, Bowen, Pie Bird, Heather, Doogie, Clarus, Prince, Star, Skeeter, Scout, Tigger , Ezmeralda, New Foundland, Tank , Billy, Lilly, Auggie, Dodge, Sparky, Meeko, Barney. Good Morning Folks...

CBS just did the first story!
It was awesome, they used stock footage of Vivi at Westminster, Jill, the tracking dogs, JFK airport, the posters, etc. They have Magee Hickey out there live right now alongside the Van Wyck at Mt. Hebron. It was wonderful coverage and very upbeat!

Halfway through it I got goose bumps and started crying happy tears....tears of hope & joy....

Wow, the 5:30 news just came on and they just did the promo of her in the top of the news again, and sure 'nuff they just reran the whole piece again just now.....magificent...Woo hoo!!

Hey Diane

They just ran it again at 6:15 this morning, Mz Darlene called me at 6 to tell me it was coming on. This makes it twice and i am sure they will run it again, had the same feeling seeing her being shown, what a beautiful little girl she is. Makes us more determined now to go find her. Hopefully many of you out-of-towners will get to see the story published in your local papers. Associated Press (AP) authored a piece on Vivi.

And finally, ABC-TV; no video but pictures. A huge THANK YOU to whoever organized the PR (Darlene/Brian/Bonnie?).

Lydia or Marty - what's going on?? Was there an actual sighting?? I'm at work today & so can only check in for updates. I'm on pins and needles!!

Lydia said there was a ViVi sighting mentioned at 7:00 this morning on the radio station in NY. That's all I know.

hold on, gang - i know nothing of a sighting today.... perhaps they just mentioned them on the news. could be wrong, but i would have gotten a phone all.....

I don't think there was an actual sighting -I could be wrong but I would have thought we'd have heard that from multiple sources. Keep positive but wait on that one so you won't be crushed later if it is not accurate wording.

The "excitement" is the story about Karin & her dogs being in NYC yesterday & today and finding a scent "not more than 3 months old."

This info was broadcast today on local TV & radio stations as well as news articles in NY Daily News & Newsday. All the transcripts & articles can be found in earlier postings after 7AM.

Definitely don't want the rumor mills to get started. I had just read an earlier post with the word "sighting" in it so was wondering. I'll try to curb my enthusiasm. I haven't had any caffeine yet today. I'm going on adrenaline (sp.)

Maybe Lydia meant a "sniffing" hit as opposed to a visual sighting.

I have a question regarding the science of dog tracking: In the AP story, it said that the scent found was "no older than 3 months." How accurate of a timeframe can scents be pinned to? Since dogs can't talk and say so, I was wondering how this is indicated. All I can think is the fresher the scent the more excited/active the dogs are. Are the dogs trained to indicate cues as to age of scent in other ways?

Regards,
Tara

Darlene and Kay -

These babies are on my heart as well. I have e-mailed Debra to see if she feels her vets might do this surgery for these babies. I know they have taken a lot of expense with helping the dachshunds, so they may not. But thought I would ask.

Does anyone have a bunch of e-mail addresses for some vets in that direct area. I would like to send an e-mail out to some of these to see if they would be willing to help these two pups also.

Just a suggestion.

Tara - i don't know about Karin's dogs... i do know that when they pick up a good one, strong one, they go like hell. that would be a question for Bonnie - she would know. sorry i couldn't help you - all i did was run and try to keep my shoes from flying off last time she was here.....
i can tell you, when they hit that garage way back, they went NUTS!!!! crying, scratching, moving back and forth... Karin knew then it was a recent one seeing as they reacted that way....

kathleen- they are in huntington, LI....

Oregon Dog Survives Bullet Wound in Jaw
By Associated Press

AUMSVILLE, Ore. - A dog found in the mountains east of Salem with a bullet in its jaw and little meat on its bones has a chance to survive.

Phyllis Morris, a supervisor at the recently opened Marion County Dog Control and Shelter, said the injured pit bull _ nicknamed "Bullet" _ survived a month, maybe two, without supplied food or medical attention. She said the dog has gained some weight since it was brought to the shelter last week, but it's still 20 pounds underweight and needs surgery to have the bullet removed.

The dog was rescued by Lonna Chase of Lyons, who was hunting deer near Gates when she came across the malnourished dog.

"It was roaming around and making weird sounds _ I thought because it had a sinus infection. But he was very friendly," Chase said. "He was so skinny, and he wasn't vicious at all. I definitely knew I couldn't just leave him up there."

She tried to lure it into the truck bed with "about a half-pound of jerky." The dog, however, didn't have the strength to jump, so she threw her hunting jacket over the dog in case it tried to bite.

Chase took the dog home to Lyons, where she cleaned him up before driving him to the shelter. A veterinarian who happened to be there ordered an X-ray after feeling something in the dog's jaw.

"It was when he was looking at the X-rays that he found the bullet lodged in the dog's jaw," Morris said. "It's the diameter of a nickel and surrounded by bone fragment. It's just a miracle this dog survived, and we think he deserves a special home."

Morris and the staff speculate that someone intentionally shot the dog through the eye.

"Because of the directionality, we figured he had to have been shot on purpose, probably with a handgun," Morris said. "The shot came from above and points down. We suppose it could have been a hunter in a tree and that the bullet was a stray, but it really doesn't look that way to us."

Morris said the bullet remains in the dog's jaw, and bone fragments litter the tissue around the site. Morris said the eye can't be saved, but the socket and his sinus cavity can be repaired.

"What we're looking at is how to get him the surgery he needs," Morris said. "We don't have the funds to pay for the surgery, so we're hoping to either find someone who will rescue or adopt him and give him the surgery he needs, or find a vet who might donate services."

kathy - that DISGUSTS me..... poor baby....
people suck.

Darlene - I'm hoping we have some bloggers in Oregon that can help this baby.

Bonnie says if she has anything major to report she will. Just that they are out there searching now. Karin just gave a bunch of interviews. Has gotten several calls this morning with lots of misinformation about what is going on and I guess she is just saying "Keep the Faith" but wait to hear from her for major news.

We all need to pray for Vivi to stay calm. I worry that all of this excitement with the news media frightens her further away. Stay calm little whippet please!

Kathleen,

***image in my mind***

Vivi standing in front of an electronics store with a window full of TVs watching the news and noticing herself on it!

With love,
Tara

Tara!!!! I love that!!!! I could just picture that now!!!!!

If Karin has a cute "boy" tracking dog:

Vivi cocks her head and thinks, "Hmmmm .... maybe I should go meet him ..."

Any of those two possibilities would be a sight!!!

Personally, I am picturing Vivi running and jumping right into a volunteer's arms saying, "Momma, those dogs are after me!" Now wouldn't that be grand!

Darlene, Debbie, Lois, weenie crew- check your email.

I'm so happy about the news reports, I'm almost, KEYWORD: almost, at a lack of words!!!!! I can't think of anything I want more than to have Vivi found. This has been such a hard time for everyone..I'm lighting candles, praying and thinking good thoughts!
You Nueeeeee Yok gals, love you a whole lot!

I too am speechless!

renee - got it!!!!!
Ruby - back at ya, baby!!!!!
Tara - Cade is a real "looker" - she would be in love :)
Kathleen - they needed to be there to get the low-down. Karin is very observant and will not do anything to frighten Vivi. she knows what shes doing - really... Vivi needed media - she's got media!!!!!

VIVI PRAYER:
Vivi, You are God's loving, obedient creature. God calls you to your right place, and right volunteer, quickly and safely. Listen to His voice, come to the spot where you can go home to Jil. Good Shepherd call and bring this beautiful little dog to safety. She has been on the road long enough, and wants to follow You so she can return to Jil. (Amen)

Thanks Sharon. Your prayer (and everyone else's, too) is so very much needed right now!!

Update on story of Pups With Cleft Palates:

I just spoke with the lady in charge at Little Shelter. Another wonderful story of the love of people. Several vets have called to offer their services for these babies. The surgery will probably be next week. This lady was overwhelmed with the kindness of people for these little fur angels. She says they are adorable. Here is the website and she will post updates on here as the surgery progresses. Another happy ending!

The puppies are so cute.

Thank you God - the little puppies will be helped!!!!! yeah!!!!!! great news, Kathleen. thanks for letting me know - i couldn't even look at them in the paper...

Kathleen - you are such the bearer of good news - can you call and rub some of your luck off on Bullet - the Oregon pitbull

Years ago my friend and I brought one of her puppies that had a cleft palate to the animal hosp. that's in Manhattan off the FDR drive around 63rd St. She had been tube feeding him but had to get it corrected if he was to survive. They were able to operate and correct it but it was very expensive and not every vet can do it. I do know that hosp. will make pmt. arrangements at a reduced fee. of course this was 25 yrs. ago and their policy may have changed. Just thought I'd mention it. Candles lit and praying for our little Vivi. Go Karin, Go doggies.

greeting to all,

I've just discovered this site and blog and would like to add my 2 cents. First off, I’m so happy to hear that tracking dogs have recently found her scent.

Secondly, I’ve read where some of you may be concerned if she is hungry or thirsty. As a whippet owner and owner of whippets all of my life, food and water are the least of my concerns. Whippets are magnificent hunters and this instinct is very, very strong in the breed. In other words, they are essentially hard-coded to hunt and kill small game, that is what they do, and that is what they love. As for food sources where she has been sighted, she is probably catching squirrels, chipmunks, mice, and moles and quite frankly, they are easy game for them. If she is in fact getting a steady diet of this, she is as healthy as can be. For those that don't know, whippets will hunt much like cats and will stalk and wait for the best opportunity to pounce. Therefore, the success rate is high. A whippet that is hunting for food and survival will use these tactics and will not randomly chase anything that moves like a typical dog would or a whippet that is lure coursing or racing. I speak from experience, trust me, I've had whippets become such good hunters that I had to discourage them from killing every little creature on my properties or on the wooded trails and parks we hike through. I hope this relieves some of your hunger worries but regardless, the fact that the dogs may have found her scent after all this time means that she is either with an adopted owner or she is hunting like a whippet would.

My biggest concerns for this girl would be (1) traffic – the breed is not very good at negotiating traffic and if she is on the trail of game and it takes her into the road or she has to cross busy intersections, she will get hit, (2) cold – this breed is obviously not built for winters but if she is still out there than she is finding shelter, (3) mosquitoes – only because of heartworm, although I doubt it is prevalent up there in NY, (4) injury – if she breaks a leg or foot while in pursuit of game, she is in trouble. However, this might force her to find help or be found easier (4) porcupines – although I’m not sure if this would be an issue in NY but if she encounters one than she is going to have a face full of quills.

This is just my opinion, but if the dog is still out there and not with any person than she does not WANT to be caught by some random searcher. She may only be comfortable with the people she knows (her pack) and if they are not out there calling her name she may not come to anyone in the search party. Even though whippets are very affectionate and pack-oriented, I’ve had some that would ONLY be this way with their family and the people they knew and by no circumstances would they voluntarily go up to any stranger. I think that if Vivi is out there alone, she is thriving on live game and perhaps some scavenging as well but is healthy and living the way she would want (minus her pack).

Finally, I believe the only way to catch this girl at this point is to go to the places her scent is strongest and set up a trap. Contact the owners and get as much of her stuff as possible (i.e. beds, pillows, coats, anything that she is familiar with and has her or her owners scent) and place these items inside the trap. I think this is the best way, otherwise she may just keep on running and hiding from any stranger looking and calling for her.

Regards,
derrick

Those puppies are adorable!!!! I love Little Shelter!!! It's really a great organization and they go out of their way to help animals!!!! It's very close to my house - I just might have to go over there and pay those puppies a visit!!!!

My continuing hope and prayer is for Vivi to be safe and returned to Jill and Rick. She is in my thoughts and prayers everyday, almost every hour.

Derrick,

Great post! Please see your email!

Tara

Kathleen
Thank you for posting an update on the puppies. I am so glad some vets are going to help them.

Also I will be unhooking my computer tonight. Tomorrow is my last day before retirement and I won't have my computer set up again until Monday. Here's hoping when I do there will be much to celebrate. My prayers are with you searchers.

Kay, congratulations on your retirement. If you want to send me a phone number, I will be thrilled to keep you updated and give you a call with any good news on our sweet whippet.

Hope Jacque is doing well also.

Love Kathleen and Tinkerbell

Congratulations Kay - HAPPY RETIREMENT

Enjoy your retirement!! I still have a "few" years to go>

Enjoy your retirement, Kay!! I still have several years to go. Waaah!!

Sorry about the double post. I didn't think the first one had gone through.

MADISON UPDATE (Another good report for Madison):

November 15
Yes we are still here and doing well! I know it's been a week since I have updated. I will try not to let that much time go by again. I think my inbox is in shock from all the requests for updates. LOL
Madison has been doing really well without the trach. She continues to be healthy even though everyone else seems to be coming down with colds. We followed up with the ENT yesterday and he said that her stoma looks like it has healed well. We will go back at some point to do a scar revision where they will reconnect the muscles the way they were before the trach was put in. That will make the scar look like a normal scar instead of a belly button looking scar on her neck.

Yesterday, we went back to the neurologist to hear the results of the latest EEG. She did not have any seizures in the 30 minutes that the test was going on, but she does have some areas that are still showing tendencies to have epileptic seizures. For that reason, Madison will stay on seizure medicine. The new neurologist is really good. He is very thorough and will be doing several tests on her. He also wants to do Botox in her arms and hands to help loosen her up. She isn't too too bad, but she can be better. I'm happy that he is being proactive with her, unlike the other neurologist.

Other than that, we are just going on as usual. Madison had an awesome day in school today. The teachers said she seemed to be very aware of her surroundings and she was smiling a lot and holding her head better. I think she missed school since she had to miss for her doctor's visits Monday and Tuesday.

On a sad note, there was another near drowning accident in the next town over on Saturday. Sadly, he was brain dead and died Monday morning. Madison is such a miracle to be here and doing well. I feel very blessed to have her. She is such a special angel and we love her so much! Please say a prayer for the families out there losing children to water accidents everyday.

New pictures will be uploaded tonight so check out the galleries! As always B+ for Madison and keep her in your prayers! My love to all!

Hey, did everyone leave me on the blog!

I just contacted the Marion Animal Shelter and Control where Bullet is located. I spoke with one young lady who believes two vets may have offered help, but she put me through to the lady's voicemail who is handling this.

I left a voicemail for this lady and will let everyone know what I find out. Stay tuned for Bullet news later.

NOW WE NEED SOME VIVI NEWS PLEASE!

Margot - that's the AMC - great doctors there!!!!

kathleen!!!!! yeah - you are quite the animal helper :) good for you!!!!!
wow - interesting stuff from Derrick. never knew any of it. having sharpeis who are normally sleepy (i am surprised they don't have bed sores), mine don't hunt anything but doggie cookies and bologna :) good stuff to know....
and nothing yet on the Vivi front, my friends... standing by - they are still out there!!!!!
lois T - if you go and see the pups, jam them down your shirt and drive to my house!!! HEEE!!!! hang in there girls (and Derrick and Just Paul), you all will get a post from Bonnie or a post from me if there is anything out of the norm. so far, they are still on the run. actually i told John that Karin was back and asked if he wanted to run with Cade again. He looked at me like i had 2 heads and told me his legs still hurt from March... these dogs and Karin really work - we are in good hands.

Yeah, the only things that my dogs ever hunt for are to see what I've spilled on the floor or counter or on me!

Darlene, is Cade the brown dog that looks like a hound?

Yes, Gail - that's him. isn't he cute?

kay - all the best for a relaxed and well deserved retirement!!!! i am jealous!!!!

Well everyone knows what Tinkerbell hunts for - more pillows and chicken bones (bad girl)!

oh, Pam - nothing like having your shirt licked clean, huh? i know your pain :)

Darlene - Do you know if they tried what Derrick suggested about putting the scents of clothes from Rick and Jil in those traps before? Sure makes sense and sounds like a great idea to me!

Hey kathleen, they have had Jil's clothes all over the place here and in the traps from what i understood, especially when she was by kissena park and the cemetery and nothing worked, she never went into any of the traps or touched the food, just raccoons.

Darlene, it's not only my shirt that's been licked clean. I've almost had lettering worn off by her licking my sweatshirts!!

ha!!!!! man's best shirt licking friend!!!! and Kathleen - yes, we all know what your chicken loving pal likes!!!

Darlene hello,Did you hear how the wedding went?

It's a wonder Jil has any clothes left she's sent so many for the searches........
Do you guys rmemeber when Bo wanted to buy a huge trap? Vivi seems to be too smart to get trapped in a cage....

Hey Ruby baby, how's it going. I remember the huge trap they wanted, do you remember when Darlene and i had to go to JFK to get the traps they left for her, that was one of the hardest things to see, her little blankets in there. Don't want to think about it again.

Debbie - I think that would be very hard to see. All her personal belonging lying there and no doggie. That would be heartbreaking.

Don't cry Debbie. This is it. We are going to get the girl back this time. I can feel it in my old arthritic bones!

Viva la Vivi!

Breaks my heart just thinking about her Blankie and no little girl dog curled up keeping warm!

Sorry Debbie - I didn't want to bring back old memories. I have only an inkling of what that must have been like. Hopefully she will be back soon.

that's ok guys it is what makes us more determined and stronger in finding her. No tears here just good memories and some good friends made thru this. We shall find her if we have to crawl on all fours to do it.

Okay, things too serious. We need a laugh. I must tell you Tinkerbell's secret nickname. It is "target butt."

She has that JR butt, with the white, a large fawn-colored circle and a white tail right in the middle of the circle. Even a girl at Dr. Peace's office started calling her this too - I was so shocked! They just love the Tinkerbell there.

She does the cutiest thing - she stretches with her front end and head down low and that booty up in the air. That is when I call her "target butt."

Now I'm sure Tinkerbell would not be happy with Mom telling her secrets on the blog - so do not tell Tinkerbell.

Do I sound "crazy" from this stress - you bet ya! I've been praying for God to grant me patience - now!

Kathleen - a dog I had growing up had the nickname of "TB". But her nickname stood for "trouble butt" because she was always getting into garbage and of course that would end up with upset stomach and what comes with that. We'd bring out the scissors to trim her up after every one of her incidents and she'd beeline it for under the bed. It was a struggle to get her out and cleaned up for the next incident of "TB". What memories I have of childhood!!

Pam, that is hysterical. Maybe I should add that also to Tinkerbell's nickname since she did get in the garbage (with I'm sure those bad cats turned over) and get those chicken bones a while back.

Awww Debbie, I don't remember that you and Darlene went to get the traps at the airport, but I can only guess how sad that would make me, seeing her blankets etc...You guys will find her and I'll always remember how many dogs and cats were saved because of Vivi and you guys!
On a lighter note, the 2006 Darwin Awards have been posted:
8. As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man
grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the
woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher.
Within minutes, the police apprehended the snatcher. They put him in
the car and drove back to the store. The thief was then taken out of
the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied,
"Yes, officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole the purse from."

My little chi Peanut has these two little swirls of fur on each hip on either side of his tail, and my daughter caught me once laying in bed with Peanut's butt in my face twirling those little swirls of fur. Boy, I never will hear the end of that one. They were just so cute!

The robber ID - now that did make me laugh. Thank you Ruby.

Chris - Chi babies are so adorable. I just love them.

Well, have to tell more on Tinkerbell. She loves to climb in bed and go around and around in a circle before deciding where she wants to go under the blanket or on top of the blanket. If she stops with her little target butt towards me I always tell her to change positions, I am well aware of her silent farts at times! She will get up and point that target butt the other direction then.

Oh, I am going to be so in the doghouse with Tinkerbell tonight!

Ruby, that is hillarous.

Oh Ruby - I just read it...Too funny!!

Is there any news at all??? I'm getting fidgety!!

I was just thinking the same thing Pam

nothing yet, darlings. sitting tight for some word... just hang on :)

darlene: did you get Diane's(Kowalchyk-Morris) email by any chance?

Darlene-never mind, Diane said she just talked to Debbie who was also talking to you. lol. I'm sure I'm confusing everyone on here, I really should be emailing rather than boring everyone with this back and forth stuff.

It's so quiet on the blog.

renee - i just got back on.. sorry. yes she was on the phone.
Marty - NICE and quiet.... nothing yet...

Hi Gang! Anything new on our girl? I just got home - went and bought myself a Blackberry and I'm trying to figure out how to use the damn thing!!!!

So Darlene, to many to count huh ? Well I can always give you some of my Liver if you ever need it:) We have friends in NC and they are ok but that whole place is a real mess and many are not counted for. Hope we can lite a candle for them tonight. Like everyone else hoping for good news soon and always keeping the faith...

KEEP A LOOKOUT FOR THE CLASSIFIED AD IN THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS THIS COMING SUNDAY!

On ABC news they did another blurb on vivi but
the dog they showed was a fawn whippet with a
black mask. What the H..? This was on the 5 PM
news.

Hi everyone,

Just wondering what the weather is in New York. Here in Connecticut it's raining really hard and very windy. Hope it's not that bad there.

I just heard from Debbie that is raining "like the dickens" there with tornado warnings in NJ. Pretty messy it sounds.

I'm going to build a boat in Memphis if this rain here does not stop. It has been rain almost every day it seems.

Well, goodnight everyone. I hope Vivi, the searchers and the dogs get in out of that bad weather.

Hopefully maybe some good news in the AM. Sure will be praying for it tonight.

Goodnight Vivi wherever you are.

This is an update on one of the doxies adopted. Debra sent this to me, but I'm sure she would not mind me sharing this sweet story about Bailey.

Bailey was the doxie we were worried would not find a good home. She had lost a lot of her hair from what was felt to be a hormonal thing possibly. Here is the sweet story of Debra's follow-up on Bailey today. Get your Kleenex ready, you will be crying it is so sweet.

--------------------------
"The best news of the day...I called the guy who took Bailey..I said "I can't stand it anymore...I have to know how Bailey is doing." There was quiet on the other end. I thought uh oh..it's going to be bad... He said Bailey is running the house. I think she just lets us live here. She got so attached to the guy (George) she won't stay in her cage at night - she has separation anxiety from him and wants to be with him. They decided to let her sleep on her bed next to his bed and she was fine. Sometimes she even sleeps in the bed with him. He's taken her to work ... she did great. Slept all day until it was time to go home. He said her spay and teeth (major work) will cost him almost $800.00. They've done a blood chem. in preparation for surgery - they don't know results yet. (But it's routine for any dog over 7 yrs with us.) Still hoping the hair loss is hormonal. The best part - he said his other 2 dachshunds were not totally housebroken and had accidents sometimes. Bailey not only has not had 1 accident in the house since she went home - she herds the other 2 outside when she knows they're going to go. She's training them.

Poor little Bailey that was always lost in a crowd is the queen. He said she is quite probably the best dog he's ever had. Totally sweet. She spends most of her time in his arms with her head on his shoulder. I get choked up every time I talk about that dog. They're ALL special, but now Bailey gets her chance to shine.

What a special dog and what a special family to be able to see past her problems and give her a chance.

George also said he would take another if we needed him to although with Bailey's medical expenses (he wasn't complaining) a younger one with fewer medical expenses would be better.
------------------
All I can say is (sob, sob) bless Debra and the vets, George and bless little Bailey. What a wonderful, happy ending!

Vivi just made the news here in CT

I apologize for not getting back on here sooner but was jammed at work and do not visit this site much anymore.
I also apologize for my rushing the post I wrote this AM- did not mean to say sighting (wishful thinking?) -meant that there was hit by Karin and her dogs. So very sorry- did not mean to start rumors though I wish what I wrote was right!
And so the lady on the news said hit - I think.

But now that you mention it my mom called me a hour or so ago to tell me her friend from NJ heard twice- last night and today - that there was a sighting. I corrected her and said no- no sighting- just scent hit. She said her friend heard Vivi was seen. So perhaps some of the newpeople are saying the wrong thing?
Again- sorry for incorrect post -but perhaps premonition? I hope so!
Lydia

Thanks Lydia. Wish we could have a "sighting," one with her sweet little neck with a leash around it and her safe and sound. Don't we all wish that!

Can someone e-mail me direct info for Karin. How to reach her or an e-mail or website for her. The organization I work with Pet Rescue, in Larchmont,NY adopted a dog to a family in Clinton, NY and they lost her. She was rescued from South Carolina 2 years ago and is extremely timid but was doing well with her new family. Her picture is on the website www.ny-petrescue.org. I was thinking maybe we can hire Karin to help track her. Please sent any info to my e-mail address. Thank you.

NEWS ARTICLE I JUST GOT FROM A FRIEND WHO LIVES IN NY, Long Island:::

DAILY NEWS

Vivi, the missing whippet.

Vivi may still be wandering the city.
The scent of the missing California show dog was picked up by a pet detective in Queens yesterday - renewing hope that the pampered pooch who bolted from her crate at Kennedy Airport nine months ago could be found.

Vivi, the award-winning whippet that looks like a mini-greyhound and can hit speeds of 25 mph, disappeared in February shortly after competing at the Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden.

The team of volunteers searching for the dog has been frustrated by a string of false leads. But they were encouraged yesterday after a team of tracking dogs from the Oklahoma-based Pet Detectives Inc. discovered Vivi's scent at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Kew Gardens Hills.

"We had been getting discouraged that there's been no sign ofVivi in a long time," said Karin Goin, the pet detective. "The scent we found is no more than three months old, which is good."

Goin's two tracking dogs - Dodger and Cade - detected thewhippet's scent nearly 8 miles from Kennedy Airport and followed it south along the Van Wyck Expressway. Goin will resume the search today.

"Vivi is a nomadic breed who can survive a long time on the move without much food," said Goin, who has a license to track lost cats and dogs. "As long as she's not hit by a car, she could be okay."

Goin has been using the scent from one of Vivi's coats to track the dog, which had been rumored to be moving through Forest Park and around Cypress Hills Cemetery.

Vivi's co-owner Paul Lepiane said yesterday's development was the "first solid information we've had in several weeks."

"It's giving us hope," he said. "It doesn't mean we're going to catch her today, but maybe we're getting close."

"I think she's still running around out there, waiting to be found," said Lepiane, whose co-owner, Jil Walton, finally got married on Friday after delaying her nuptials to continue the search. "Vivi's a survivor."

********************

I have seen this happen before on Vivi stories. The reason is they are using a stock photo of a whippet. Sue, email your local ABC affiliate a couple of pics of Vivi with instructions to save them in their News Photo Library ... because they will need these pics when Vivi is found and they can report the happy news!

Psalm 37:6
Commit your way to the Lord: trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.

Good morning Daddy God. We stand humbled before you. How great are your works and how lovingly you care for us. We stand in awe of the way you have led your army in the paths of righteousness and wisdom. You have heard our prayers and you have given your army the wisdom we have sought from you. It is you leading them ever forward in the battle against adversity. When they have cried, you wiped away the tears, when they were exhausted, you strengthened them, when they were hurting, you comforted and healed them, and when they didn't know which way to go, you turned them into the right direction. Your Spirit is leading and guiding them straight into Vivi's path. Hold Vivi in the position you want her to be in. Hold her still and quiet in the midst of the excitement and speak into her heart to stay and trust. Show her the way into the rescuer's arms that you have chosen. Let Vivi feel your peace and love as you draw her into the path of rescue. The "meeting place" has been prepared and is ready. Draw them there Daddy God. Draw them there today. Vivi's gentle and loving soul is in your shelter and power. Give her perfect peace as your army approaches her. Keep her still. We thank you in advance Daddy for her deliverance. Let her feel the warmth and remembrance of human arms loving her and holding her close. Cause her to remember. If she has puppies, let her lead your army straight to them Daddy. Bring us your victory today that only you can give. We give all glory and honor to you. You are our hero. We ask you to heal Merlin and Magic. Oh Daddy God give special blessings to all your creatures. They are innocent and they need your help. We lift all of our loved ones to you in faith for deliverance, healing and redemption from all evil and harm. We stand in faith and we will NOT be moved. Our faith is in you.

Hi guys,

I received an email which made me realize that not everyone here has seen the full video of Vivi at Westminster. I often watch it right before going out to look for her to help put me in touch with her. It also encourages me as it reminds me how well equipted she is for survival, because there are litte tell tale signs that show just how spirited, quick, sharp minded and into doing her own thing she is. :)

It's also occurred to me that perhaps some of you might want to watch it sometimes to pray, meditate, and in general send good vibes to her. The background music is lovely (anyone know the name of the melody?)

Here's the link:

The Westminster Kennel Club | Video Player

Enjoy! :)

Wow, I just thought of something else, maybe some of you folks and your friends, family, etc., could email the networks that Vivi appeared on and let them know how much you enjoyed seeing her on the news again and to please keep the updates coming?

Probably be a good idea to do likewise with the newspapers she was in, every bit helps!

Keeping the faith,

Wow,I loved that Westminster video!(sniff, sniff) That was amazing! Thanks Diane.

I just had to post this link for everyone to see the beautiful mural that Rudy Hyde painted for Princess Madison's room. What an incredible labor of love and sharing of God's talents for this little girl. It brought tears to my eyes. I can only imagine how Madison will enjoy looking at this mural every day.

Clic on My Room in the picture gallery

Wow Kathleen - that mural is beautiful - wonder how long it took to do

Isn't it beautiful Kathy! I'm going to ask Gina about how long it took when I speak with her. I was wondering the same thing. I would have loved to see Madison's face when she saw it.

John (her Dad) sounded so "happy" and "excited" about the developments they were seeing in her recently. It really was wonderful to hear this happiness on the phone when I called.

I do hope she progresses to where she can be a whole again - such a hard life for her family

That is so sweet Kathy, but then again you are a real sweet lady.

You know, Madison's story to me is a lot like Vivi's story to me. I have never met Madison and her family (just as I have never met Vivi and her family), but yet the Lord touched my heart with both of their stories.

Through both of their stories and their journey I have met the most incredible people and friends. I have communicated with Gina by e-mail, and I feel like she is one of my family now. After talking to Rick about our sweet Vivi, I also felt the same family bond with Vivi and her family as well and all those that love her.

Through both of these journeys the Lord has blessed me far more than I should have ever been blessed. Everyone on this blog will always remain "Vivi's angels" in my mind.

You are a very sweet lady yourself, Kathleen

Just wanted to say goodbye for a few days to everyone. Whether the blond women I see is Vivi's guardnian angel or not - I do not know. In my heart I do believe Vivi is safe and loved.

Also, thank you Bonnie and Diane Tamm, Diane K. Morris, Darlene, and Debbie, Gail Thomas, Tara, B.J., Monica, Kathy at Bayside, and many others too that I do not know about, that have looked for Vivi and without which we would not have had such strong "hope". You women have given us strength and hope. Also Denise Flaim, thank you for giving us this venue to gather over the months. God bless to everyone near and far.

Thank you also Kathy in Colorado for the beautiful reminder of how much God loves Vivi and that she is cherished in heaven and on earth.

We have got money to lend out to serious and prospective customers and all kinds of business firms and individuals at a low interest rate .Email me via email leobrown_lendingcompany7@yahoo.com
