Forest Park, a photo essay

For out-of-towners who have never been to Forest Park in Queens -- at almost 1,300 acres, the borough's third-largest park, and the location of the most recent Vivi sighting -- here are some selections from Newsday's photo library.

It was put in Forest Park in the 1970s on the site of another carousel that burned down in 1966.

Thanks Denise for the post. It gives me an ideal of what the park looks like.

Well, our girl knows how to pick a pretty park to hang in. Very beautiful indeed, and I love the carousel.

Incredible...New York is a much bigger state than I imagined.

OK big picture time, my friends. I am one of the ones who cares a great deal about Vivi's outcome, but has done nothing to help but pray and send positive energy. I have come to love and respect the foot soldiers immensely. I think this blog is really interesting spiritually. God is giving us all many tests through it, it seems to me. Can we really feel such an affinity for a creature we have never had any kind of relationship with? Easily- we all love her like our own beautiful, elusive angel dog. Can we really feel genuine love and compassion for each other through our shared hope? Could that be the actual point?
There is no doubt in my mind that the message we should be getting is our real fire which sparks our longing to save the innocent and rescue the lost is One Fire of which we are all sparks. We are one, I tell you.
I had a dream 2 nights ago. Everyone who has been following Vivi's saga was invited, along with her rescuers, to Vivi's reunion celebration picnic in Santa Barbara some time after her rehabilitation. She was well, fine and fit in spirit, once again her self as Jill & Rick raised her. She trotted around the grounds, stopping to wash our faces and wag her gratitude. The feeling was like she was an angel sent to congratulate us for passing our test, and herself for receiving our best. It was such a lovely, beautiful fantasy- D-O-G- dog; G-O-D-!!!!!
Now let's live up to her dignity and noble suffering and will to survive.
In solidarity and with great respect and love, I salute us all.

Vivi did picked this for her "home" until someone rescue her. Forest Park do looks so beautiful!
Keep Vivi's hope alive!!
TeamV did a great job in this long hard 10 months and I trust they will find Vivi and reunite her to Jil and Rick soon!

AMEN, Deb and Paula, AMEN!!!

Beautiful post of Forest Park! I remember enjoying so many things in that park. For years my dad & I flew model planes at the model airfield halfway through the park, Before moving to Michigan I enjoyed a "Beatlemania Again" concert at the bandshell, when I was 10 years old I played little league baseball across the road from the bandshell where the Pfc Laurence Strack Memorial Pond now rests. I've also been to the circus they hold there every August, and sleighriding in the winter. Yes, it is a very beautiful park! Unfortunately, Forest Park is home to a very large fenced in golf course which Vivi could possibly be hiding. Still praying here and keeping a positive attitude for the ultimate happy ending.

If that is the case, time for the "weenie crew" to take up golfing, Patrick! Might be a bit dangerous for the other golfers though. Just kidding gals, I love you! I could send Tinkerbell to be your cadie too.

Thanks Denise for posting pictures of the park. It certainly looks beautiful. Although I now live in Michigan I remember having my 1960 graduation ceremony from Newtown High School in the bandshell. Now to find that little angel who's hiding somewhere in that big place.

PSALM 72 (excerpts)
May all kings bow before the Lord.
all nations serve him.
For He rescues the poor when they cry out,
the oppressed who have no one to help.
He shows pity to the needy and the poor
and saves the lives of the poor.
Long may He live.
May His name be blessed forever;
as long as the sun, may His name endure.
May the tribes of the earth give blessings with His name;
may all the nations regard Him as favored.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
who alone does wonderful deeds.
Blessed be his glorious name forever;
may all the earth be filled with the LORD'S glory.
Amen and amen.

Hello.I was not going to clip and paste messages that are not my own anymore. As I accidentally sent one that I had clipped , it was not nice, and I am truly sorry, as it went public. This one on the other hand appears to be important :

Please see the petition below to save Angel's Gate. This is a wonderful location where sick and special needs animals are taken to live out their lives in peace, dignity and love. Their focus is on wellness and quality of life. It is located in Long Island, NY.

I personally know of someone that took a cat who was sick (an outdoor cat that was rescued) and she was welcomed with open arms to live out her life there.

There is a threat of officials closing Angel's Gate down. Please don't let that happen.

Please sign the petition below:

Here is a link to information on Angel's Gate:

Please forward this on to everyone you know and urge them to sign.

Thanks, Karen S

Diana

Diana, I just signed the petition to save Angel's Gate and one thanking Gov. Rendell for cracking down on puppy mills. I hope Angel's Gate stays open. All special needs animals and people should be able to live their lives with love and dignity.

Mt 15:29-37
At that time:
Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee,
went up on the mountain, and sat down there.
Great crowds came to him,
having with them the lame, the blind, the deformed, the mute,
and many others.
They placed them at his feet, and he cured them.
The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking,
the deformed made whole,
the lame walking,
and the blind able to see,
and they glorified the God of Israel.
Isaiah 25:10
On that day it will be said:
“Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us!
This is the LORD for whom we looked;
let us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!”
For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain

Father Creator, Today is the Feast of good generous
St. Nicholas, a man who followed in Jesus' footsteps
and performed miracles in Your name. Advent we know is a time of waiting, but early gifts often came from St. Nicholas on December 6th. Bless our prayers and send us an early miracle. Send us Vivi, and Ticket, and all the lost and homeless ones. Father honor this unselfish prayer, we gain nothing from it except to know that You have heard our prayer and know the love we have for our brothers and sisters in creation. Come to think of it Father that would be a wonderful gift! If it is not time yet (but we sure hope and pray it is) please keep Vivi and the other babies warm and fed and safe from anything that could harm them. We lift all of our prayers in confidence to You...

I failed to mention that today's Psalm is the 23rd- the Good Shepherd. Keep visualizing God taking care of Vivi and bringing her to a volunteer/person who will help. See her oh the shoulders of the volunteers rejoicing in her return. Visualize Ticket on his shoulders, too. What a wonderful day/night!!!
Today's other readings were about the miracles God works! Here's to Hope!

I've sent money to Angels Gate once and I'll send some more tomorrow.. I got a nice thank you from them, I can't even remember when this was, some months back tho. I hope they continue their good work.

Night people!

Posted by Michael;
I don't usually write on the blog. If it were not for helping Betty I don't think I would have ever even read it.
However in helping her I need to read it to follow updates and such. After reading the blog last night, it really bothered me that people were putting each other down for their education, social standings, or positions. I would like to remind people that the greatest human who ever walked the face of the earth was a mere carpenter with only basic education. He came from the smallest of towns and the least of the tribes of Israel, yet for goodness sake, we even set our clocks by His life. (BC/AD) He did more for humanity than any of us could even imagine or will ever know in this life time. He never looked down on any one, He never put on airs, He never rejected any one who came to Him. He was the friend of prostitutes, theives, adulterers, simple fishermen, as well as the affluent and educated. I don't think I need to mention His name, but I do love the name JESUS. I would like to repeat myself and say that words are seeds and we reap what we sow. If you plant apple seeds, you reap apples, if you plant corn seed, you reap corn, if you plant thistle seed, you will reap thistles. You cannot plant an onion seed and expect to reap roses. If it is important to anyone, I will tell you now before you ask later, I have a high school education and I labored most of my life as a carpenter. I do not consider myself above or below than any one and neither does our Father nor His Son, who by the way is my hero, He loves us all the same. You know you can educate a monkey or even a snake, but wisdom and undrestanding are gifts from God...just a thought to ponder.
Everyone have a lovely evening, God bless and keep you all.

Yet another post by Michael;
Good mourning everyone sorry about the double post but something went wrong on my first attempt. Have a wonderful, glorious and productive day. Keep the faith so the faith can keep you. With love
Betty and Michael

You are their Captain Daddy God. Lead your army to Vivi and tell Vivi to trust them today. Thank you Daddy. In Jesus's Name...Amen

No more tears.

Oh my goodness, such a beautiful story about Grace. What a remarkable girl she was. Thanks for sharing this.

There are no tears in heaven.

When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.--Pauline R. Kezer

We judge a man's wisdom by his ability to hope.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

SC - I knew you were a woman after my own heart. Emerson and Thoreau were my favorite in literature and life. Such beautiful words that touch the soul and heart.

I even did an English literature term paper on the comparison of these two wonderful men in high school.

Thanks for the beautiful quote of HOPE. We all have this, and must continue to have it. Vivi, your miracle is right around the corner!

I remember Jesus's last words on the cross, it is finished.

Heaven is such a wonderful place where the lion and the lamb sleep together.

Oh my yes, heaven is such a wonderful place, the place of blessed peace and forgiveness, no more sorrows, no more pain, a place of love and joy. Such a beautiful place that gives hope in the darkest hour.

I forget to add that my hope comes from God, even in our darkest hour and we are saved by his promises. He promises us peace and even though in this world we have hardship, in heaven (and sometimes here on earth too), we will have his peace.

Psalm 39:7 "But now, Lord, what do I look for? My HOPE is in you."

Thank you Julie for sharing. I'd like to also share these verses of hope. I am sharing the verses from the old testament as I do not wish to offend anyone that may quesiton the new testament.

Psalm 25:5
"Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God

my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."

Psalm 62:5
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him."

Psalm 119:114
"You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word."

Psalm 119:147
"I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word."

Isaiah 40:31
"but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and

not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Psalm 29:11
"The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace."

Isaiah 26:3
"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast,

because he trusts in you."

Ok you cheerie little women, lets not get depressed! Light a candle for Vivi::::::::Ignore those who bother you::::::::

" Oh the tangled webs we weave, when first we practice to deceive"

And:::::::my cat is in the hospital. I took him to ER after 9:30 last night..He might have a blockage! He has a cath in him and at 7:30 this a.m., and $690 dollars later, I took him to his regular vet..He's still there having more tests done..another bill of at least $248....Hows that for putting the bah humbug in Christmas? haaaaaaaaaa...He'd doing ok tho...I'm going to bed for the rest of the day..I do not do well at 7:30 in the morning..........especially at a ER.........

P.S. Speaking of Greyhounds, there used to be a Greyhound rescue in No. California called::::::
AMAZING GREYS...Get it, Amazing Grace? wink, wink...

I have never found Bibile verses giving hope depressing, and I'm sure we hope for the best with Vivi and lean on God for his strength too.

Oh thanks Sheila I appreciate your kind comment. It is my hope in God that keeps me believing the best for Vivi and for this world too. God's words are always a blessing, always.

I enjoyed the verses on hope Sara. And from reading the comments on the blog, ignore anything said you don't like. Talking about peace and heaven and hope that God gives us is okay in my book.

This is too much. All this proselytizing has gotten out of hand. I thought this blog is about Vivi and animals in need, not Bible verses. I'm sure there are a lot of chat rooms where you can trade Bible verses and discuss the wonders of the lord. I came here to get a status update on the Vivi search, not to scroll through a sermon. Between all the crazy talk earlier this week and this, this blog has become a joke.

Geez Jesse. We aren't told much on the blog about Vivi these days. All we have are prayers and hope, and sometimes people chat about their pets and Bobo.

Jesse, best to ignore the religious element if you don't like it or go to another thread and post your thoughts.

Jesse D and Julies--
We all have so much hope in Vivi and we all have a very strong faith in God and His Son, Jesus.
We all pray from the beginning.
So if you both don't appreciate us then don't bother coming on the blog...we forgive you both.
God Bless you both and loves you both!
You can't stop us from using the wonderful, powerful Bible verses, it do help us through the rough months and helps us the courageous to keep going!

Amen Paula.

be nice!!! tomorrow is yet another holy day. no, i am not super religious queen, but miracles happened on those days, why not now?? and it is warm and beautiful in NYC today!!! i think those posts are better and nicer than as of late. only my opinion - i don't this place. the gang is out full force again today i believe and also tonight. the weekend is packed with Vivi chasing (pardon the pun) since the weather is cooperating. we are also working on plans here during the days as well. the Vivi crew is still going.

Thanks for the update. Glad to know the weather is ok yet.

Thanks for the update Darlene. I'm glad to hear that the crew is still going strong. Your comments are one of the reasons I still check out this blog.

Miracles do happens!
A few years ago in PA, there was a golden dog name is Frisco who was a show dog, during a thunderstorms comes. Frisco was startled and bolted into the forest was lost for 2 weeks. Then 2 weeks later, Frisco was captured in a trapper bait because he was hungry and decided to go in and ate it! He lost a few pounds and his paws were hurt from walking around. He was 2 or 3 years old when it happened. He is fine now and is probably around 8 or 9 years old. He now retired from the show dog career. I don't know if anyone familiar with this story??

Jessa, If you think you are breathing on your own, you are sadly mistaken. God is the one who gave you life. And He is the one who gave Vivi life. Without Him, NONE of us would be here. So count your blessings

never heard the story - what a nice ending!!!!
will try to keep you guys informed about what's happening.
Betty still has Bobo, by the way!

Betty Layne--AMEN!!
Darlene--Maybe only on PA. news local but who knows?? Yes, it was a nice, happy ending for Frisco and his family!

Betty, I have had the good fortune to be extremely lucky in my life so far; You can say its because of "god" if you want. I call it luck. I guarantee 110% this is one subject that we will never see eye to eye on, so let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that. I don't want to have to get into a theological discussion. I respect your commitment to religious pursuits, but I'd just rather talk about dogs than gods.

Ruby sorry to hear about your cat. Hope he will
be okay. Is is a male cat, sometimes that get what
is call Feline Urinary Sydrome. Both my male cats
got it. Boy I learned about the expensive vet visit
to only feed them special food for cats prone to
F.U.S. Prayers for the kitty !!
Whats with all this prayer chat today WOW. Nice
verses though. Nice change of pace on the blog

OK, Jessa--
We will pray for you!!

where in PA?????

Yes, I still have Bobo. But he has a bad habit of raiding the refrigerator every night. This morning I got up to have some orange juice and toast. And what the crap, it was all gone!! I asked him if he ate it and he said, "Yes, I'm sorry, but I was hungry" So I couldn't get mad at him. He told me he hasn't food until he got to my house. Why didn't you guys feed him? Are you feeding Jose anything besides beer? That may be why he drinks so much. HE IS STARVING!!!!

SueG--
I agree with you!! :-)

My male kitty had FUS too so now he has a special diet. The vet told me something interesting--If you feed your cats dry food you shouldn't give them ones that contain any kind of fish--some cats are sensitive to the fish oils and can get urinary infections. I've never heard that before or since. Has anyone else heard that?

Ok Jessa. He will show Himself to you. He doesn't need me to do that. He's a big boy and He knows how to turn luck into I AM. God bless and have a great day today.

Darlene--
It is near Williamsport area (Strongstown)PA.
Strongstown was where the show dog was held in.
I was glad I still have the old clipping of Frisco. My mistake it wasn't 2 weeks , it was 3 weeks...sorry!! OK what it say here was the dog was lost in the Cambria area in the Indiana County...about 4 miles away from Duman State Park (that where Frisco was lost in). My paper said the date was on May 20th, 2001.(Lost) and was Found on June 15th, 2001. I hope it help you?? :-)

I'd like to just say that the prayers have been here since the very beginning and I'd like to read them as I do everyday... thanks Betty and Sharon.

What the .....

Don't worry Chrissy, Betty and Sharon (and Michael now too) are not going anywhere. They are here to stay with us crazies!

If they try, we will send MaryL to "smack them in the head" like she threatens to do with Martha and I. Right MaryL (haaaaa)? Be careful MaryL, Santa Claus might not bring you Dodge for Christmas!

I feel comfort knowing prayers will stay and too that it is okay to share bible verses. I love the psalms. Usually, I learn new verses each morning and memorize an extra one for Vivi. I understand when the details of the search can't be put on the blog. It's to keep Vivi safe and it doesn't bother me much even though I'd like to know more, it is okay because then I have to trust God even more.

This blog is nice because people don't curse on it. Sometimes it seems like they are trying but at least they stop before we read the words. I don't believe in cursing and many blogs allow that.

AMEN, Christine!!

FROM DUKE THE PITBULLS MOMMY:

"Just wanted to let you know that we are dong another gathering Dec 14th"

As soon as I find out the details, I'll let you guys know in case someone in NY can go!

RUBY Sorry about your kitty. It is so sad when one of our fur babies get sick but I'm sure he'll be fine soon. Anything new on Otis? Pls keep us posted .

Hey Ruby - sorry to hear kitty. I hope the poor baby is feeling better soon.

That's supposed to be "sorry to hear about your kitty." Duh! Must learn to type.

Is Virginia B. here? Please email me..

Margot,
Thank you for your concern about my Mr. Peabody. He was feral when my daughter rescued him and I've been his mommy for over 3 years. Poor little guy looked so sad in his Eliz. collar and tried to get as close to me as he could. I'll know how he's doing by 5 p.m. today. I never wanted him, but I love the little scamp or I should say the big 17 lb. Morris..His diet isn't working...lol..He gained 2 lbs. and I have him on diet food and he only gets a heaping 1/2 cup a day. He may end up on CD or one of those special foods...

Nothing on Otis yet. This is the first time I've prayed to have a man put in jail for a long time and that someone will smack smack him around!

That's right Ruby, someone does need to smack, smack, smack that guy around for sure. I'm sure Otis would smile up in Heaven at that sight.

Thanks Paula. You sound like a nice person.

Kathleen:
That guy has already been smacked around::::broken jaw and broken ribs at his 2nd court appearance! I was
happy, but dear Otis is forgiving like all dogs! Thats another one of the horrible things about this case!
Dogs forgive the abuse! They only want to love./0;

I like the Bible verses on hope. Even people that aren't religious still need hope and nothing wrong with praying and remembering what keeps us and Vivi safe and it's better than being depressed and angry.

Pam, thanks for the comment about my cat. Another hour I'll find out how my boy is doing! I hope to bring him home this evening..

I'm thinking, maybe Dodge wouldn't be a good thing at my house. I have a very active, alpha female Whippet and I'd hate to see her pester him..I'm still thinking about it. I want whats best for Dodge and tho I think I could be whats best for him, I don't even know for sure if the rescue would consider me with my female bossy girl. Thinking here all the time about him tho..I love the little boy! Also after close to $1,000 for my cat, I realize that I have to be prepared for many vet bills for Dodge...I'm thinking, maybe and maybe not..Its a tough call! /0;

Oh for sure Christine. Tomorrow I'll find some other nice ones to share. This is the season of hope and love and a good season to find Vivi.

Hope and faith are what keep us going for Vivi!
Whatever I get sad or depressed I always turn for the Bible and/or to prayers!
That's true many people who aren't religious or saved do need our loves and pray for their lost souls! And forgive them for their sins.

Ruby--
I know how hard the decisions are for you and Dodge since your own little bossy whippet...I do hope they can get along! I wish my cat a male name is Cloudy should get along with the poor Sadie who is a golden and a female. She only wants to play with Cloudy but he's too standoffish cat!! I know that feeling about the bossyness!!

Ruby - If it is right, it will work out somehow for you and Dodge. Hope kitty makes it home tonight and is okay.

As for "female bossy girl," I'm heading home for the night to see mine. She really keeps the kitties in line at that house. Momma has to scold her quite frequently about the kitties. I know the feeling of one of those.

Oh Paula you are a woman after my own heart.

Sara and Christine--
You're welcome! And you can email me personally, that would be nice!
by the way I don't know if either of you read from the posts under Hope burns eternal; I'm a deaf 42 year old and single. I have a male cat name is Cloudy. :-)

Ah, thank you Paula. Some of that stuff was a little off a bad day or something. I love your Cat's name, Cloudy. What color is he and are his eyes blue?

Sorry, some of the posting on the Hope one seemed from a bad day but not anything about you Paula.

Cloudy is a 4 year old short-haired domesicated, his colors are Gray, white and a little tan hightlighted, his eyes are amazing, it's green/hazel!
Whenever you decided to email me you'll see what my email address is. It's easy to remember! Hahaha
I had trouble typing here today I hit many wrong keys! My fingers must be tired or my brain must be tired either way.

Cloudy sounds pretty. I don't pay attention to typing stuff my fingers drag around most of the time.

Thank you!
Cloudy really is a very stand-offish personality because he hates the men, women, kids, cats and dogs! Even the strangers! Haha He is too used having me all to his own. He still do following me around even when I was taking a bath or shower!!
Whenever I eat, he even eat his own at the same times. He's a comical cat.

He does sound like a character and a good friend too. I'll e-mail you tomorrow. Now I must shop for food or no one eats tongiht.

I am having a heck of a time trying to post today.
I keep getting some weird security thingy. Why me???

SueG--
Maybe the full moon wants to play fools with you? I'm only joking! Your not alone, I had hard time to type it right because I keep making too many mistakes, today!!! Hahaha
I don't think it's a security thingy at all, it just don't wants to be cooperating on this onlines today.

Hey Sue - You're getting that security thing (which I hate by the way), and my stupid Blackberry became posessed this afternoon and kept messing my e-mails up!!!! I think maybe Jose is annoyed with me and has cast his evil spell on my Blackberry!!!!! He does have those devilish eyes!!!!

Psalm 118 (excerpts)
In danger I called on the LORD;
the LORD answered me and set me free.
The LORD is with me; I am not afraid;
what can mortals do against me?
The LORD is with me as my helper;
I shall look in triumph on my foes.
I was hard pressed and falling,
but the LORD came to my help.
The LORD, my strength and might,
came to me as savior.

Matthew 7:1

Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.

LoooooooooooooT... Glad to see you on the blog, poor thing, can't post or read during the day...

Jose has the strangest blue eyes I've seen..ole'
He better not come here, I'll have people talking abou me even more than they already do...

Some of you may already know this, but I just read an e-mail from our sweet Renee. Her friend, Joannie, lost her battle with leukemia today. Please remember Renee and Joannie's other family and friends as they prepare for the funeral this Saturday.

I'm sure she is watching over Vivi for us tonight because I'm sure Renee had shared our sweet Vivi with her too.

{{HUGS}} from Tinkerbell and I to you Renee!

My cat, Mr. Peabody can't come home today. I talked to the vet at 5 and the cat still has a catheter and iv and until the cath comes out and he gets the report from the lab, the won't know what his problem is..Could be bacterial or stones or crystals or something, something. I'm to check again tomorrow..I miss that little stinker. He sleeps with us at night.
I will say there is less work without the little trouble maker. (he steals things from the tables and kicks them around. He's a pretty naughty boy, but I still miss him...

Sharon -

I have been thinking and praying for Mary this week. How did the visitation go, and how are you, Mary, and the rest of the family doing?

Sorry to hear this Ruby, I'll be glad to Fed Ex one of my big guys to you overnight (haaaa). They are stinkers too!

Hope Mr. Peabody feels better soon, poor little guy. I know you miss him. When Tink was at the vet's, I drove up on the parking lot on my way home (after they closed) and just sit there and cried for a while.

I couldn't hardly stand coming home from work that night with the thought of her not being there. Don't we get attached to these sweet little creatures? People who are not animal lovers have no idea the wonderful unconditional love they are missing.

Kathleen,
Mary's still in deep shock, and injured --- broken wrist, hand, very, very physically, as well as emotionally hurt. I knew who Ed was, but it is Mary who I know, if that makes sense.
Ed was older than Mary, and they didn't socialize together with the people at work. Mary did things with the girls. I think it is Mary's grandbaby who will get her through. She has a very close family, and she and her daughter are friends.

BTB Kathleen,
There is a package winging its way to you. Should get there Saturday, or Monday. I saw the perfect "addition" to your life. It combines Tink, the second dog you keep missing out on here on the blog, and a touch of Southern belle. I think you'll like him/her? On the other hand I just might have convinced Betty to send Bobo to Memphis. Better stand back when you open the box... You can take Bobo out of NY, but you can't take NY (and the weenie crew) out of Bobo. I suspect Betty just thinks she reformed him.

Now that I've set Kathleen up for a little Holiday anticipation... 'Night Everyone. Sleep well.

Renee, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, Joannie. You and her family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. Leukemia is a terrible illness and hopefully they will have a cure for everyone very soon.

Renee - I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It's very hard to lose a someone close. My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and all who knew her.

DEAR RENEE, So very sorry to hear that you lost your dear friend Joannie. I'm sure you were a great comfort to her. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Sharon - I can hardly wait. That is so sweet. Thank you so much for the surprise.

Renee - Joannie's leukemia struck me "right at home" with working for St. Jude. I wanted to share something with everyone about St. Jude though. I have worked there for 27 years now, and they are fighting a strong fight against this disease. When St. Jude first started, a diagnosis of leukemia was pretty much like a death sentence. Now I believe our figures are around a 70-80% cure rate, and the projection and goal recently adopted is to reach at least a 90% cure rate. As always, the key to cure is early detection. Always investigate immediately anything unusual in your health. ALWAYS!

Renee - I wish Joannie could have been saved from this disease, but rest assured research is hoping some day to reach that point where no person will die with this disease. I know this does not make the pain go away, but maybe it can offer some comfort.

If I sound proud of where I work, I am - very proud. Would not want to work anywhere else! I believe in and love what we do for our patients at St. Jude. I can tell you firsthand, our patients have the best possible care and love while fighting these battles.

I hope all the searchers stay warm this weekend when they are out looking for Vivi. It sounds like it's cold in the NY area today.

Renee - in case you are just checking here, i told the crew... on behalf of all of us who dearly love you here, we extend our deepest sympathy for you and Joannie. you know if you need ANYTHING, we are here for you, my darling. take time to heal and we'll pound the pavement in Joannie's honor for you on Saturday. we all love you, Sweetie Pie xoxoxoxo

Everyone, be sure and check out Barney's White House Christmas at Fox News. I personally felt Barney was good in the mist of all those beautiful decorations, I would have hated to see what my Tinkerbell and the two cats, Bo and Booger, would have done to these. Oh my!

http://www.foxnews.com/#

ha!!!! isn't he cute??
mine would have been like bulls in a china shop!!!

Pam - it's CCOOOLLLLDDDD........
better than heat stroke. plenty of thermal undies in our closets - we will be just fine!!!!!
thanks for being concerned tho, darling. PS: beers stay colder in this weather!! HA!!! just a little frosty humor this AM.
i betcha that lousy mother, Debbie, doesn't have a coat or boots for little Jose. sleezebag.

You know, I think you should send Jose to Betty too. She has taken such loving care of poor Bobo. I do believe she has reformed the boy. I can see her now tucking them (Bobo and Jose) in at night in their jammies and reading them both stories.

Yes, Barney is just too cute for words. Loved him.

Rubeeee, are you there. Any news on Mr. Peabody this morning? Poor fella.

Darlene,

It has actually gotten to 14 degrees here with winds. We Memphis Southerners are not used to this weather! I feel like I am at the North Pole with Santa Claus or something.

I don't think Betty is prepared for Jose... it take some time getting used to. note i said "it."
she has been through enough with her eyes already. Jose could do some serious damage. ECH!!!
it was wind chill of 2 here at LaGuardia this morning.... the sun is out and as long as you keep moving, you stay warm.

Oh Kathleen - that website with Barney was so cute. I can't see my dogs acting that mannerly with all that finery out. I liked your "frosty" humor, Darlene!! Keep warm and toasty!!

RRUUUBBBY!!!!!! wake up!!!! what is going on, Mama??? Marther - did you hear from Ruby today?

if we get desperate, we can always burn Debbie's trunk. HA!!!!!

I just saw the fox news clip about Barney cam. If you go to whitehouse.gov and click on Barney cam you can see the entire film. It is very cute but is that a glass tree orament they are playing with???? Yikes!

Good luck to team Vivi this weekend from Maine where we are having our first real snowstorm of the season.

If the trunk was burned, where would Debbie's snowman live?

We in the Altoona area got an inches of snow!! Right now it is windy and cold!! Mixed sun and clouds plus very windy!
In case if anyone is interested in the weather.

Yawnnnnnnnnnn.....scratch......I'm up! C-ment truck across the street woke me up.......I wish they'd finish the house so I could sleep til 8 just one morning..

No news on Mr. Peabody...He still has the cath in him and the needle in his little arm...The lab results come today..Poor boy, he's probably have a hard time being away from us, even tho he tries to eat the dogs occasionally...I'm hoping for the best and also looking for a wealthy OLD man like Anna Nicole Smith had who will leave me his billions..haaaaaa...Beer for everyone if I become a billionairess....

Hola Jose you little hinky thing! Get thee to a laundermat!

THE BLOGGING ADDICTION:
CAUSES & CURES
If you are not a blog addict,

someone you love is. A son or daughter, perhaps. A close friend. Perhaps it is your lover's secret sin. No family is immune to the addiction; no relationship is impervious to the personal storms unleased by rampant, out-of-control blogging.

How do you identify a blog addict? Perhaps he says he has other things he'd rather do than watch a movie with you on Friday night. Perhaps she sneaks off to the computer desk once she thinks you've fallen asleep. Perhaps he is bleery-eyed and unable to track when you talk to him about plans for next weekend. Perhaps she plays at you again and again with the tips of her fingers, as if trying to see if you are real.

The blogging addiction occurs for a variety of reasons. "I spend all day working at this computer - it's so lonely," one might say. "No one listens to me at home. At least someone out there in bloggerland is willing to read what I have to say," says another. Some may take to blogging simply for the pleasure of it, like recreational sex. For others it may fill a deep-seated need to "be somebody."

Whatever the cause in a particular case, the enablers are everywhere: Blogspot, Bloglines, Journalspace, and Typepad are a few of the more obvious ones. All of them are readily available at the click of a mouse, and some of them are free. Free like maybe the little bag of free sample your heroin dealer offered you at the beginning of that addiction.

You'll see that one who is tempted to blog starts by hanging out with bloggers (in a virtual sense) and soon enough gets sucked into the endless cycle of Post-and-Read-and-Post-and-Read. And soon enough, something that started out as an innocent and fun way to pass the time turns dark and ugly and begins to ruin a life - and not just the blogger's life, but the lives of those around him.

Unlike the heroin addiction, the cure for the blog addict is not necessarily total abstinence. Rather, as with many sexual addictions, the goal is to change the habit and the mind-set, so that the patient gains control of the activity, rather than allowing the activity to control him.

Is it hopeless? Not necessarily. The loved one of a blog addict needs to:

(1) Ensure that the blogger posts no more than once or twice a day.
(2) Aid him in reducing the number of blogs he reads - get it down to no more than fifty per day.
(3) Assist her in lessening the number of comments she leaves on other blogs to no more ten per day maximum.

These seem to be reasonable standards; anything more has the potential to become extreme and to push the addict out of control again.

One who loves a blogger has to practice tough love at the first sign of back-sliding, has to remember Lysistrata and tell the out-of-control blogger: "No more driving my bus til you get this under control, buster! (or babe!, as the case may be)."

"I blog, therefore I am" is a great and dangerous fallacy and the blog addict needs to understand that.

BLOGGING IS NOT
LIFE - LIFE IS LIFE
Bumperstickers will be issued.

Yes, blogging can be one facet of a fulfilling life, but only when the blogger is in full control. The Blog is a monster which must constantly be subdued, wrestled down like some wild animal, tamed and made subservient to the blogger's enlightened self-interest. In its proper context, under strict watch, with a blogger who is in full control of his faculties and in control of the activity itself, blogging can become a useful and therapeutic adjunct in the development of one's emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual life.

When the blogging is out of control, the blogger will end up - well - like you and me.

DUKE NEWS FROM DARLENE MENENDES:::

"I thought I emailed it to you yesterday...Dec 14th 11- 5 pm at the first district court on vets hwy in Ronkonkoma. I must be losing my mind sorry...
Denise"

Yesterday she did send the date, but no other info..Maybe some of you Nueeeeeeee Yolkers can go to the rally to support Denise and help Duke. Poor boy, needs to go home. I think sometime this month it might be 3 years that he's been locked up for a crime he didn't commit! The wheels turn slowly!/0:

Ruby - three years out of the life of this poor dog and his family is rediculous.....how old is the Dukester - not very if I remember

It's been said before & I'll say it again. It's so sad how this dog has been treated. Locked up, thrown away the key and forgotten about.

Another interesting article on Blog addiciton written in the New York Times. And since I am at my limit, I'm out of here. Also like the new rules on this blog - e-mail address must be "real" great move Denise.

Blogging is a pastime for many, even a livelihood for a few. For some, it becomes an obsession. Such bloggers often feel compelled to write several times daily and feel anxious if they don't keep up. As they spend more time hunkered over their computers, they neglect family, friends and jobs. They blog at home, at work and on the road. They blog openly or sometimes, like Mr. Wiggins, quietly so as not to call attention to their habit.
''It seems as if his laptop is glued to his legs 24/7,'' Ms. Matthews said of her husband.
The number of bloggers has grown quickly, thanks to sites like blogger.com, which makes it easy to set up a blog. Technorati, a blog-tracking service, has counted some 2.5 million blogs.
Of course, most of those millions are abandoned or, at best, maintained infrequently. For many bloggers, the novelty soon wears off and their persistence fades.
Sometimes, too, the realization that no one is reading sets in. A few blogs have thousands of readers, but never have so many people written so much to be read by so few. By Jupiter Research's estimate, only 4 percent of online users read blogs.
Indeed, if a blog is likened to a conversation between a writer and readers, bloggers like Mr. Wiggins are having conversations largely with themselves.
Mr. Wiggins, 48, a senior information technologist at Michigan State University in East Lansing, does not know how many readers he has; he suspects it's not many. But that does not seem to bother him.
''I'm just getting something off my chest,'' he said.
Nor is he deterred by the fact that he toils for hours at a time on his blog for no money. He gets satisfaction in other ways. ''Sometimes there's an 'I told you so' aspect to it,'' he said. Recent ruminations on wigblog.blogspot.com have focused on Gmail, Google's new e-mail service. Mr. Wiggins points with pride to Wigblog posts that voiced early privacy concerns about Gmail.
Perhaps a chronically small audience is a blessing. For it seems that the more popular a blog becomes, the more some bloggers feel the need to post.
Tony Pierce started his blog three years ago while in search of a distraction after breaking up with a girlfriend. ''In three years, I don't think I've missed a day,'' he said. Now Mr. Pierce's blog (www.tonypierce.com/blog/bloggy.htm), a chatty diary of Hollywood, writing and women in which truth sometimes mingles with fiction, averages 1,000 visitors a day.
Where some frequent bloggers might label themselves merely ardent, Mr. Pierce is more realistic. ''I wouldn't call it dedicated, I would call it a problem,'' he said. ''If this were beer, I'd be an alcoholic.''
Mr. Pierce, who lives in Hollywood and works as a scheduler in the entertainment industry, said blogging began to feel like an addiction when he noticed that he would rather be with his computer than with his girlfriend -- for technical reasons.
''She's got an iMac, and I don't like her computer,'' Mr. Pierce said. When he is at his girlfriend's house, he feels ''antsy.'' ''We have little fights because I want to go home and write my thing,'' he said.
Mr. Pierce described the rush he gets from what he called ''the fix'' provided by his blog. ''The pleasure response is twofold,'' he said. ''You can have instant gratification; you're going to hear about something really good or bad instantly. And if I feel like I've written something good, it's enjoyable to go back and read it.''
And, he said, ''like most addictions, those feelings go away quickly. So I have to do it again and again.''
Joseph Lorenzo Hall, 26, a graduate student at the School of Information Management and Systems at the University of California at Berkeley who has studied bloggers, said that for some people blogging has supplanted e-mail as a way to procrastinate at work.
People like Mr. Pierce, who devote much of their free time to the care and feeding of their own blogs and posting to other blogs, do so largely because it makes them feel productive even if it is not a paying job.
The procrastination, said Scott Lederer, 31, a fellow graduate student with Mr. Hall, has a collective feel to it. ''You feel like you're participating in something important, because we're all doing it together,'' he said.
Jeff Jarvis, president of Advance.net, a company that builds Web sites for newspapers and magazines, and a blogging enthusiast, defended what he called one's ''obligation to the blog.''
''The addictive part is not so much extreme narcissism,'' Mr. Jarvis said. ''It's that you're involved in a conversation. You have a connection to people through the blog.''
Some compulsive bloggers take their obligation to extremes, blogging at the expense of more financially rewarding tasks.
Mr. Wiggins has missed deadline after deadline at Searcher, an online periodical for which he is a paid contributor.
Barbara Quint, the editor of the magazine, said she did all she could to get him to deliver his columns on time. Then she discovered that Mr. Wiggins was busily posting articles to his blog instead of sending her the ones he had promised, she said. ''Here he is working all night on something read by five second cousins and a dog, and I'm willing to pay him,'' she said.
Ms. Quint has grown more understanding of his reasons, if not entirely sympathetic. ''The Web's illusion of immortality is sometimes more attractive than actual cash,'' she said.
Jocelyn Wang, a 27-year-old marketing manager in Los Angeles, started her blog, a chronicle of whatever happens to pop into her head (www.jozjozjoz.com), 18 months ago as an outlet for boredom.
Now she spends at least four hours a day posting to her blog and reading other blogs. Ms. Wang's online journal is now her life. And the people she has met through the blog are a large part of her core of friends.
''There is no real separation in my life,'' she said. Like Mr. Wiggins, Ms. Wang blogs while on vacation. She stays on floors at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco with access to a free Internet connection. (''So I can blog,'' she explains.)
Blogging for a cause can take on a special urgency. Richard Khoe, a political consultant in Washington who in his spare time helps run a pro-John Kerry group called Run Against Bush, posts constantly to the blog embedded in the group's Web site (www.runagainstbush.org). He blogs late into the night, although he knows that the site still attracts relatively few visitors.
''Sometimes you get really particular with the kind of link you want, so you search a little more, then a little more, then you want to see what other people are saying about that link you chose,'' he said. ''And before you know it, some real time has passed.''
Others find they are distracted to the point of neglectfulness. Tom Lewis, 35, a project manager for a software firm in western Massachusetts who has a photo blog (tomdog.buzznet.com/user), has occasionally shown up ''considerably late'' for events and has put off more than a few work-related calls to tend to his blog.
Mr. Jarvis characterizes the blogging way of life as a routine rather than an obsession. ''It's a habit,'' he said. ''What you're really doing is telling people about something that they might find interesting. When that becomes part of your life, when you start thinking in blog, it becomes part of you.''
The constant search for bloggable moments is what led Gregor J. Rothfuss, a programmer in Zurich, to blog to the point of near-despair. Bored by his job, Mr. Rothfuss, 27, started a blog that focused on technical topics.
''I was trying to record all thoughts and speculations I deemed interesting,'' he said. ''Sort of creating a digital alter ego. The obsession came from trying to capture as much as possible of the good stuff in my head in as high fidelity as possible.''
For months, Mr. Rothfuss said, he blogged at work, at home, late into the night, day in and day out until it all became a blur -- all the while knowing, he added, ''that no one was necessarily reading it, except for myself.''
When traffic to the blog, greg.abstract.ch started to rise, he began devoting half a day every day and much of the weekend to it. Mr. Rothfuss said he has few memories of that period in his life aside from the compulsive blogging.
He was saved from the rut of his online chronicle when he traveled to Asia. The blog became more of a travelogue. Then Mr. Rothfuss switched jobs, finding one he enjoyed, and his blogging grew more moderate.
He still has the blog, but posts to it just twice a week, he said, ''as opposed to twice an hour.'' He feels healthier now. ''It's part of what I do now, it's not what I do,'' he said.
Suffering from a similar form of ''blog fatigue,'' Bill Barol, a freelance writer in Santa Monica, Calif., simply stopped altogether after four years of nearly constant blogging.
''It was starting to feel like work, and it was never supposed to be a job,'' Mr. Barol said. ''It was supposed to be an anti-job.''
Even with some 200 visitors to his blog each day, he has not posted to his blog since returning from a month of travel.
Still, Mr. Barol said, he does not rule out a return to blogging someday.
''There is this seductive thing that happens, this kind of snowball-rolling-down-a-hill thing, where the sheer momentum of several years' posting becomes very keenly felt,'' he said. ''And the absence of posting feels like -- I don't know, laziness or something.''

Kathy: I think Duke is only about 4, maybe a little older..

Pam: Dukes mom was visiting him 2 to 3 times a week, a 2 or 3 hour trip by the time she would get back home. She's working to pay some of his attorney and room and board bills. He's in a pound of sorts and the gals there all love him a lot and play with him. One time it was said by one of the people who work where Duke is, "Dukes only transgression is stealing milk bones from the drawer." He really is a love, even a guy who checked Duke out said theres not a mean bone in his body. He walks through the pen area, on leash and wags his tail at all the other inmates..He's a sweetie!
www.SaveDuke.homestead.com/

Ruby - I meant the justice system has "forgotten" about him. I remembered that Denise saw him as often as she could.

Julies--
No one wants to read LONG message from you about the bloggers.(I skipped your long one.) Addicted or not.
The Footsoldiers and Team V do need some down times and hit the blog to unwind the long hard day. Most do have the jobs and some don't have jobs.

My 12:16 post on blog addiction was written by Tom Montag forgot to give him credit where credit is due.

Thanks again Denise for the new rules on the Blog - now if we can limit the egos and snarky comments, that would be real progress, but I suppose that is asking a bit too much.

Poor Duke has spent more time in the pound with those people than with his family - wonder if he would adjust if he every got out or if the pound could adopt him and thus end Denise' bill continually running up for his charges. Not that I don't want Denise to get Duke out but he probably thinks of the pound as his home and if they love him so much, he is probably given special consideration and is allowed certain privileges - does anyone know?

I especially like when Tom Mantag writes:And soon enough, something that started out as an innocent and fun way to pass the time turns dark and ugly and begins to ruin a life - and not just the blogger's life, but the lives of those around him.

That is what has heppened to this blog and is caused by a group of people with their endless ego posting, hatefull rantings, insulting comments etc. etc. etc.

Good points made Kathy in CO - It would be interesting to know that.

Pam,
I know what you mean...I was just telling people how much the little boy is loved by everyone. Thats what makes it so sad, he was doomed and got a reprieve
from death in August. Now, months later, they are still messing around, no court date etc..It's a crime!
If we all keep signing the petition and writing, maybe he'll be home soon. I hope!

Snarky? hmmmmm, thats a word I've heard before from someone, can't remember when or who....I didn't see any recent rules Julies, where are they? It's a good thing!

Kathy, thats something no one knows. There was talk about him getting out and having to be placed in another home, away from the "snarky", haaaa, neighbor. The guy is a jerk..

Good reference to the neighbor, Ruby! Haaaaaaaa!

Does anyone know if there have been any sightings since the last one we heard about?

Hey ladies, please tell me where there are new rules posted for the blog about using your real email, am I blind or is this something someone made up?

Thanks again Denise for the new rules on the Blog - now if we can limit the egos and snarky comments, that would be real progress, but I suppose that is asking a bit too much.

Julies, Show me where the rules are please to back up this comment.

Ruby mamma how's Mr peadbody and new word yet?

Kathy,
None that I've heard of or that have been posted. I wish, I wish! Poor dog has to be found very soon!
I just lit a candle for her. She has quite a few, but could use many more...

This blog addiction of mine has to be curbed! haaaaa
It's like curbing my cat, it can't be done. Good thing is, I only blog in the Vivi blog! I never want to be associated with another blog, at least not for a very long time! lol

Debbie--
I wonder where the "rules" did Denise made on this blog what Julies posted on just now??
I don't see anything about the rules that was from Denise. Do you??

Once you've become a blogger, I think you're hooked for life. That means I'm doomed!! LOL.

Cough!

La la la la la what rules?

La la la la la

Gasp! la la la la and la! the last la was for good measure.

I simply must stop typing la la la la la la la

DebbieSnarkyWoman! Hi hi hi! Maybe the new rules of the blog are a vision? (I could be wrong...)

Nothing on Mr. Peabody yet Deb..Thanks for asking.

Debbie isn't snarky, never was, never will be.

Hey Ruby, loved the mail on catching Jose, poor thing got trapped and then got ecoli.

Please let me know how Mr Peabody is, little Fluffy is still in the hospital, hope your little or should I say big one will be fine in time for Christmas. Love ya lady.

Debbie - where the hell are you?? blowing off work again, huh?? the are no new "rules" - only if you post 2 or 3 posts quickly together, you have to type the letters and numbers (same thing to prevent the auto. robot). keeps boobs from posting numerous paragraphs in a row back and forth.....
Pam - Debbie didn't tell you??? SHE GAVE AWAY MR. SNOWMAN!!! use 'em and lose e'm - that's her motto :)
oh - Lois T emailed me - she was "making out" with Jose's twin brother at work today. that's what she said - don't ask me!!!!!

Kathy (co): duke gets his own room and roams free when they play with him and when Denise comes to see him every saturday. he's got the run of the joint!!!! even merchant marines come and visit that big guy!! isn't that cool???

Debbie, so now you've lost Bobo and Mr. Snowman??? Or was Mr. Snowman finally fed up with his place of residence and left on his own accord?!?

that is really cool Darlene - glad he is getting special treatment....

kathy - he sure is!!!!!!

Pam - do you blame him? he needs room to breathe and run!! how do you see snow from inside a trunk with 400 degree beer and a 7-11 cup??? HA!!!!

I'm glad Duke gets some special treatment. He deserves it and more. Debbie - a snowman does need snow. I set mine out now after Thanksgiving and it is happy as a clam sitting in the yard lit up all night!! A snowman needs to do his/her thing. Whatever that means.

PAM - in debie's case, the snowman was responsible to guarding the "crowned jewel" - the trunk. i bid him a fond farewell - he is free and in a much better home now where he is appreciated and displayed at the right time of year, for a change - instead of summer!! maybe good old Debbie will ride around with a surf board or a beach ball in the trunk until april :) HA!!!!!!

Sooooo funny, I'm stopping my blog addiction before I loose my family and friends. Haaaaaaa haaaaaa. My husband swears he'll cut off the cable next month if I continue ignoring him. I don't care, let him, there's always wireless.

I adore the silly talk about Bobo and Jose, trunk burning, and whatever else you guys come up with is sooooooooooooooo wonderful and keeps me from shoveling snow.

SARA Is could its be keep you from shoveling snow...or its other 4 leter word?

Sara - it's repulsive!!! like nothing you have ever seen before....
you should see us out there - doubled over, snorting, and cackling like idiots - total idiots!!!!

It's a hoot here most of the time. Eating lunch we log on the lap top and a howl at the posts. Luv it all. When you are bad, you're very very bad and so funny, I agree

I apologize every one. Michael and I did the prayer together early this morning and I posted it on the wrong thread. So here is today's prayer. Love you all!!

Posted by Michael: Praise be unto the Lord the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob forever and ever.

John 10:27,28 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and I give unto them eternal life."

Lord heavenly Father, maker of Heaven and Earth and the seas and all that in them is. Your name oh Lord, even your name is high above all things that You created. There is no one in Heaven or on Earth that can compare to You, You have no equal. All of creation was made by Your hand, all breath was and is given by You. You are the creator and in You we have our being. Lord thank You for allowing us to hear and know Your voice. Speak oh Lord to Vivi for she is a part of Your creation that does not mock,or scoff, or scorn Your word. Even as the animals listen to Your voice, when You led them to the ark, lead Vivi to those who want to help her. She has cried to you for food and you have provided it for her, she has cried to you for water and you have led her to drink, she has cried to you for shelter and you have made her a bed to rest in, she has cried to you for safety and you have kept her out of harm's way. She cries to you for rescue Daddy. Bring it to pass. Speak into her heart and put her in the right place at the right time and speak into your army's hearts and lead them to the right place at the right time. We ask you to bring this to pass today Daddy God. We also ask for the quick rescue of Ticket. Bring him into your deliverance today. We trust in you, we hope in you and we have strong faith in you. We give our faith to you with all our might and strength. We will not be moved. We ask you to heal Ruby's kitty, Mr Peabody. Surround him with your healing touch and bring him back home to Ruby. She needs him to cuddle her and he needs her healing cuddles too. Surround Mary with your presence and love. She needs you so. Heal her and ease her pain in your gentle touch. Comfort Renee. She has been through so much and she needs your presence, love and strength. Comfort Joannie's family and let them know that you have her safe in your arms. As we release Joannie from our prayer list, tell her we love her and we will see her and hold her when our time has come. Give her a gentle kiss from us. We ask you to let your healing, deliverance, glory and redemption flow freely as we lift all of our little ones up to you in faith.

Darlene i am at work didn't you get any of my emails? maybe they are not going thru,

The more the merrier Sara. I'll e-mail you, clue you in on what to ignore etc. You'll get the hang of the nut cases here soon enough, a harmless crew of loonies passing time before something better happens.

Loved the video on Barney. Scotties are so cute and they were so good. My Cocker Spaniel would have been barking nonstop at the camera crew and eating that beautiful gingerbread house.
My thoughts are with our foot soldiers this weekend. The weather is supposed to be better. Stay safe and warm and find a special canine girl. How can she resist all the goodies you carry with you?

By the way Mz weenie, my trunk is clean, no surfboard but the beach chair stays!!! No cups, do not lie girlfriend, does anyone know about Mr Glove??? Haha, (do you have Bobo) mail my home if you need me, don't know why you are not getting my mail.

Also, Sara, ignore what you don't like or anything that sounds too off. A few here just like ribbing. Brightens up boring days or the soap operas are slow, something.

Julies,
You don't know Debbie like I do...she's a snarky woman
and she loves her title! She has many titles, but since the new blog rules, I can't post them...heh heh
Snarky according to Webster's Dictonary:
: CROTCHETY, SNAPPISH
2 : sarcastic, impertinent, or irreverent in tone or manner
- snark·i·ly /-k&-lE/ adverb

Debbie gave away Mr. Snowman? awwwwww, I was going to send her a Mrs. Snowman..

I'm going Christmas shopping today, maybe! Toys for good girls, coal for bad ones...you know who I mean!
(do they still sell coal?...uh, I had a dream....)

Debbie - haven't gotten one. i sent you one first thing!!!! and Deb - Betty has Bobo and isn't giving him up. she was actually talking about Jose as well but she definately couldn't handle that wild man!!!!! (escuse me - greasy, wild man..)

Margie: nice to see you chime in, darling :)

Pam - see??? what did i tell you?? A BEACH CHAIR!!! do i know her or what??

RUBY: I included Mr. Peabody when I just lit my candles. His candle is under Mr.P

Ruby so that's what snarky means, gee I thought you were going to call me something worse.

Julies how do you know me, I've never seen you on here before? I could be Snarky or worse as some might think, be quiet Darlene, we have to ride together tomorrow.

Ruby!!!! yes, they do sell coal. i shall bring you some back from PA. fresh from the mines. i know several people who deserve it :)

Betty/Michael: lovely as always - thank you.

Susan: supposed to be warmer than today. we will be just fine unless we come across some more "hidden treasures..." HA!!!!

Darlene betty loves Bobo he has new warm jammies from her, he likes to eat also, no more beer for him, forget about Jose, he would eat her out of house and home and she needs gallons of degreaser to clean him.

On to the beach chair, it's a nice place to relax and have a cold beer in the summer when not vivi looking, I guess I can forget that idea, it never made it out of the trunk, all summer went to searching.

Margot - hoe nice of you :)

Debbie: me love you long time!!!!! maybe since it's winter, we should put a blow up pool in your back seat... come on - they'll be on sale :)
Betty is no way ready for Little Jose - it would kick her over the edge. and we have our hands full already. (wink, wink)....

Darlene maybe a jaccuzi, I do have kittie balls in the car we can toss back and forth, I get your mail are you getting mine?

heat wave tomorrow 40, wow bundle up girlfriend, I have the game plan all set for us, the fun areas again!!!

Debbie - not one of them came through!!!!!
you have balls? wowsie. good to know.
we will need an 18 year old Italian to be "pool boy" in the back seat for the jacuzzi. deal?

Afternoon people. May I wish you all peace and happiness and a good day? If so, raise you hand! If not, ok..

ANY updates on the search for Vivi?
Were they able to install the cameras, and if so any luck? I am hoping to hear of footprints, being there is snow coming. We already have a healthy dusting here in Michigan.
Was the STINKY BAIT an option?
Anymore sightings?
and do I need to plug in all my fountains? lol
VIVA LA VIVI!!

Ohhhhh yes rosie...all fountains!

cameras installed. nothing yet and no snow here. supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow and 50's Sunday.
stinky bait? the raccoons ate it all last go around. all we can do is search and post for now. hopefully, she will pop back out.

As much as I hate the snow coming, maybe it will help in actually being able to track her. Praying for something to break, Anyone up for a Candle Vigil tonight at 8:00pm eastern time? We need to keep pictureing Vivi safe and trusting enough to approach someone. VIVA LA VIVI!

Darlene big balls in the trunk, did they fall off mr snowman, they jingle, we may need to give the pool boy a net, what will he be wearing. silk or cotton?

Where is the snowman, Colettes cat is probably throwing him on the floor.

HUH???????

I meant being able to track her foot prints, possibly.

Darlene got the mail and noticed immediately what you sent, eagle eyes sees all.

Debbie - he will be wearing a washcloth - a teeny tiny washcloth :)
i am peeing my pants!!!!!

Julies had to leave said the pirates are too much but he says how nice you type and hope good that everyone enjoys sleeping with the sharks - snap!

HUH????? HELLO?????

so thats what hapened Julies|||snarks gets hem!

what the hell is going on here? English please?

Stinky bait, oh please no more of that stuff, it smells worse than rotten feet but raccoons love it for some reason, plain old dry food works better they don't seem to really eat that. Snow would be great to track but there are so many dogs walking thru the park off leash as we saw last Saturday.

mis darleen....plueasee dont makes fun off mys grahammer!

Margot! Thanks for the MrP candle site.Poor big guy needs all the help he can get..I'm still waiting and
waiting for the lab report.

Uh, who is this pirate person and whatever does she mean?

Darlene and Debbie, I love you guys...Be safe tomorrow and don't bring home anymore, uh, trash..

Ruby - we will be a-ok, Ma. don't worry!
now i am really peeing....

Darlene--
Paula here! Raccoons doesn't have much sympathized about the poor Vivi!!! They ate all of the Vivi' stinky bait!!! It was for her only not Raccoons! I didn't know Raccoons like the stinky food, too!???
did you see Sedoner?? A different email addy!!

darlene did you say you are peeing, come to mama my trunk can accomadate all your daily needs.

I want Bobo. Where is my big boy Bobo

sorry to say bobo is off the market, who are you Julies, newbie or what????

If you'd like to write letters to help little Duke the Pitbull, here is the address. Denise Menendez wants them sent to her. For some reason her attorney doesn't want them to go to her or to the court:

Bobo is flying over Forest Park looking for Vivi.

Thanks ruby, I think I already sent one but a few more cannot hurt.

I live in Flushing (which is Queens County) where Vivi is thought to be lost. My backyard thermometer at this moment reads 22 degrees F. There is some wind which makes it feel even colder. Water I put out for the birds is frozen in one solid block of ice.

Temps tomorrow are predicted to be a high of 39 and a low of 30. I am begging the searchers to PLEASE use anything (including the Stinky Bait if it is still available) to try and lure Vivi to a feeding station and in view of a camera. I have heard that a trapper will not come unless there is a picture captured of Vivi and proof she is established in a particular area.

We all know this is a killing cold for a dog in Vivi's presumed condition, so let us all, PLEASE, pray for her to be shown to some kind of shelter and food. I will light a candle for Vivi at 8pm NYC time on the Grateful Candles site. I cannot light candles at home because of my two cats...way too dangerous IMO.

Peace and love to our little whippet....we love you, Vivi. Come to someone NOW!

Bobo has been reading the blog with me today. He says he loves to travel, but he is afraid of some of the people here. I made him a promise that I will not send him ANYWHERE unless he asks to go. So it will be his choice who he visits next.

I lit my candle early because I won't be home at that time.

Best of luck this weekend, I think it is supposed
to warm up a bit. Be safe, and stay warm
Vivi, come on out baby

Betty Layne do not send bobo back here to NY it is to cold, if he wants to come back in the spring we will meet him at the Amtrack terminal, no flying for him.

I really think Ruby has a nice setup for him, I thought she said she went out and bought a Holiday Bed for his visit and some Eggnog. She said he can pick out his own Christmas tree.

Irene - the stinky bait didn't work. it's not that we don't want to use it. we put bait at 5 diff. locales and at all but 1, the raccoons had a field day. i have prints on my camera for the little buggers that raided my station. the other one? everything, including squirels devoured that one.

Betty has Bobo still, Debbie - told ya!!
now, plans for Jose???

Just checking in, Ruby hope Mr. Peabody gets good news and comes home. I lite a candle for the big guy.

Good luck to everyone searching for sweet Vivi this weekend. Stay warm, be careful, and find that wiley whippet please.

Ooh, eggnot with a touch of brandy. Maybe Bobo will want to come to the north country again?
Then again, maybe not.

right,Debbie. Ruby was saying that she even bought little tiny clown undies for him.

Pam: he can sniff out a liquor store from miles away. Ruby is in danger...

I do agree with Irene about Vivi being in very poor condition to tolerate this cold and it's going to get worse. After Vivi was seen by that man in the road I did Email Bonnie suggesting that maybe we could hire a helicopter to fly over Forest park like Rick did early on. While she liked my suggestion, she said she had to discuss it with Honi. End of story!!!!!

Geez... my bi-focals must be whacky!! Eggnog not Eggnot!!

Hey Irene feeding stations are all set, we cannot use stinky bait because the raccoons were eating it and throwing the tins all over the place, right now the best we can to is plaster the area with flyers, no flyers no sightings. if it's just Darlene and myself out tomorrow there is only so much we can post during the day. Hopefully there will be another sighting after we are done.

Paula: yes, raccoons LOVE stinky bait. even alan borgal was astonished. and no - i didn't see Sedona's address - for what? i'm lost here.

Darlene i will talk to you later if you are home, say Happy B to bill. Outta here ladies.

DARLENE:
I hear you and I do understand. I know what happened the last time, but if we still have some somewhere, it's worth at try.....anything is worth trying again cause this IS the end of the line. If other animals get it, it's okay. MAYBE, just this once, Vivi will come....how great would that be?

IF we still have some, why let it sit? I realize it's a mess to handle, but at least everything possible will have been done. Getting her to come to a feeding station ONCE, might just establish a pattern and she MIGHT come back if she finds food.

Only my own desperate thoughts....have to get a grip here.

Ladies , good luck this weekend... Keep the beer away from Darlene and if she HAS to drink bring Depends... :) I'm praying hard for that little Vivi to just come to one of you . I will also be lighting a candle for Vivi tonight. Keeping the faith...

How many sightings does one need before the trapper comes in? If the cameras don't catch Vivi and the searchers don't see Vivi, then what? We had a good sighting with the man in the morning and nothing happened then. What will happen now?

I was worried sick last week and I still am. I was accused of being depressing and a downer. How many times in the past have we had several sightings in a row in the same place? Poor little Vivi.

Well, hello all!!!!! Darlene, are you still there? Jose's twin has vanished!!! After I breathed life back into him he just upped and ran!!! I really think he's headed to Debbie's trunk!!!

Irene - i am not trying to be difficult. we don't have any. we went through many many times what we should have due to the other animals. it just didn't work. i know you are desperate - we are too. the feeding stations are being checked daily but we only have a few girls who can check them each and every single day - no vacation. it's hard when you don't have the manpower to do daily check for more stations. there just aren't enough girls out during the daytime. i am on your side - i want her to come to one of the stations too. there is food out there in locations we think we may be frequenting. but, as everyone knows, she can take off in an eye blink...

DEBBIE/DARLENE:
I truly know what you are up against...this is so impossible. I do like Margot's idea of a helicopter at this time. Last time, the trees were already leafed out....now would be easier to really see to the ground. The fact that she's white is helpful as well. Don't know if the noise would frighten her and perhaps run her into traffic....if there could be communication with someone on the ground IF she was spotted from the air, sure would help, otherwise, she could be 3 miles away by the time people hit the ground.

My prayers are with you all...always have been and always will be till we find Vivi.

Irene, I am desparate too. Another suggestion. Deer hunters, whom I don't like by the way, set up stands in trees and sit there for hours waiting for the innocent. Does anyone know a deer hunter out there who would be willing to sit in a tree and watch for vivi? With food of course instead of a gun. Will they allow that at Forest Park?

I've suggested this before and I am going to say it again....HIRE PEOPLE! Have no clue what's left in the Honi Fund, but perhaps the money left from the Hary Search, with what's left with Honi, could be used to hire a couple of people who would check the feeding stations DAILY and report any footprints, etc. People power is needed here and all of the searchers who have been at this for 10 months are truly weary. Anyone who is able to walk some distances (even retirees) might be willing to help and make a few bucks...if it was physically possible for me, I'd be there with you and I think you know that....

Trying to think of anything that will help cause it's desperate time all around here....for the searchers and for Vivi....

Ooops, sorry. That should be HARRY Search Fund...(no Hary). Too much in a hurry all the time...

If they don't allow it at Forest Park, can we sneak them in? If you could get several hunters to do this, and explain to them what heroes they would be, I am sure they would agree to it.

Hey Darlene! Nancy and I will be out tomorrow posting and searching. Give us a call while you are out. And I am trying to see if Gail is going out tonight and I will go then also as well as Sunday. Rosa and Tina will be out sometime and I want to meet up with them tomorrow afternoon if possible. So you guys are not alone. I esnt you many emails but they have come back. Todays didn't so far and was just a forward. Email me if your addy home is working.

WE need to PRAY for a MIRACLE, that is what Vivi needs, is a MIRACLE. There is only so much this small group of people can do. I agree with Irene, if there is a way, that the money HONI still has can be used to HIRE people NOW would be the time to do it. WHO can pull some strings with the funds, I KNOW we have been over that FUND thing so many times, but this is the ideal time to TRY AND GET IT!
DESPERATLY PRAYING FOR VIVI VIVA LA VIVI!

Irene we have rabbit scent. I think we will be more successful with that. We will do all we can to get her this weekend or at least get a thumb on her.

I hear you, BJ. Whatever works or even could work, no matter how weird it sounds, we need to do it!

I see Betty Layne asking about "hunters". That's a good idea cause they are really psyched to sit for hours and just watch and wait. Unfortunately, we don't have hunting in this area. Maybe someone will have a idea or have a connection with people who do hunt. No one would need to know cause they sure are not going to wear a sign "Hunter" and wouldn't have a gun. Just patience and their know how would be a BIG help.

Goodbye all. I'm leaving and won't be back. I do hope you can help Vivi before too long. I share your concern, and me voicing it over and over again doesn't help. I have decided to enjoy the holidays and Christmas and snuggle with my pets in front of the fireplace. Best of luck to each and everyone of you and with your hunt for our little needlenose love.

Pretty good idea Irene. Any hunters out there? I have a friend who will be crossing soon and I just know he will do all he can from above. His name is John if anyone wants to support his efforts. I know he will help if that's a possibility.

BTW I take it back about Jose. He's not satanic just got into a slimy mess. Yuck! Is he cleaned up yet?

It's Betty Layne's good idea. Now, if anyone knows people who hunt and would be willing to help, sure would be appreciated by all the searchers who are cold, tired and totally worn out! We also have a beautiful little dog who is cold, tired and worn out as well who would be so grateful to be found.

hey guys - the hunter thing isn't a bad idea. BUT, i don't know anyone who could out all day. know many hunters, but, again, they have jobs. as far as hiring anyone and how much $ is left? since day one - in the dark. i wouldn't know where to begin and honestly - if you have ideas - please email Bonnie. she will let you know what we have to work with. we are only the foot soldiers and do our own planning and such. i have no clue, as i am sure, most of my gals don't, how the finances work. we have financed ourselves individually since the beginning. please know i am not knocking anything, but i can't answer you questions. hey - it's obvious we will try anything but can only do what out schedules and our physical abilities allow.
BJ - my deepest sympathy for your friend John, Honey. i will hook up with you tomorrow!!!!!

Perhaps "hunters" (who are mostly male, I think) would spend night time hours in that mode...that would sure help, I think. Also, maybe weekends would be possible.

As I said, I don't know any "hunters", but there are a lot of people who read this blog and if we don't ask, we will never know. If someone appears, they can be directed to Bonnie, or they can contact Bonnie directly.

I've never been a fan of hunting and I cringe at the very thought. But, if it helps find Vivi, I sure would appreciate their help and expertise.

Hey Irene we may be cold and tired at times but not down and out yet, hey we have been thru every change of season so far. We will be posting our butts off tomorrow, like Darlene said back to the basics of getting tons of flyers so we can get the sightings instead of walking thru woods. Our feet and legs have gotten very conditioned from walking, probably the best cardio workout ever.

BJ my little pal, let us know where you guys are going tomorrow and we can cover a different area so we can get the whole area done. I know where I want to go. Mail me later love.

Irene and Betty - Just checked the blog when I got home. I think these ideas are good. I copied and pasted the ideas from the blog and have sent them to Bonnie. Here is hoping maybe this could be done and it might work. Worth a try if possible it seems.

Several months ago, Margot posted a quote from Benjamin Franklin that stays with me....

"A definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Just trying to think "out of the box" and use any and all possible resources to find Vivi and really consider new ideas. Doing the same old things in the same old ways hasn't found Vivi yet! I think this blog is put to the best possible use when we all listen to each other's ideas without attacking and ridiculing. Thinking TOGETHER, we can and will save this dog.

Debbie:
God bless...I know you are still out there trying, but a little help from new places sure as hell would be welcome right about now!

No sense in money sitting doing nothing IF some help for a few hours could be gotten. There was never a cast of thousands looking for Vivi, only a few very dedicated people and now only a few are still out there. Need more eyes, more ideas and a lot of prayers!

I am not a hunter either but I have heard that for black bear they use a technique known as a "drive" where a line of drivers walk through a wooded area making enough noise to arouse a bear (or a whippet) The drivers if there were say 10 might cover a distance of 500 ft or greater and walk parallel toward another smaller group maybe 3 spaced further apart that are quiet and not necessarily moving. The smaller group are the hunters. I don't know how this could be used to catch ViVI nor do I know how sitting in a tree is going to catch her but either might produce another absolutely legitimate sighting. My idea however might have a downside if she is frightened out of Forest Park. I think the helicopter idea is a shot in the dark is she is not actually on the move when the helicopter is overhead.

If anyone wants to know how much money is left in the "Honi" fund, all they have to do is call her. I think it was posted awhile ago, what the fund was being used for, and if anything is left.

hb:
Maybe "hunters" who have patience to stalk and sit for long period of time would have a chance to "spot" Vivi and just follow her for a bit without making any noise or move toward her. It might lead us to WHERE she finally settles herself or even a feeding site that she frequents...dumpsters, whatever. Hunters know how to be very quiet and patient which might be what is needed. I wasn't thinking of a hunter pouncing on her. I'd like to know where she goes WHEN. So far, no one who is searching has actually SEEN her, except for Gail's mother way back in March sometime and she wasn't in any position to follow her. A hunter might be able to follow at a distance.

Sorry, not sure that will make sense to anyone, just trying to calm myself here.

hb:
I agree that the helicopter has its downside as well and the noise produced might just scare her right out of the area or even worse, into traffic. It is a better time to do it, however, cause all the trees are bare and visibility to the ground is the best it ever is.

Just another idea thrown out there to consider. It's crunch time here....

I was just relating a technique. It would obviously have to be toned down for ViVi and I wasnt suggesting she be pounced on. We all know this is ery difficult but there is only so mucharea one hunter can cover . My idea good or bad was posted because you could do 500ft or greater sweeps and cover larger areas. Stay calm

hb:
I think you're idea was GREAT. Sorry if I don't sound calm....guess it's cause I'm not! Sure didn't mean it to reflect on your idea which I think it a good one to consider if there was a big enough group of people at one time.

Everything is worth considering and thinking about for sure.

Agreed my idea involves more people than are probably available....unless a scout troop or rescue org or some other sympathetic group could be enlisted...which isnt impossible.

If we had maybe 300 people looking we may be able cover the whole park, over 500acres of woods and resdential areas of houses and apartment buildings that all run around the area is very hard. She could be anywhere, she was in Flushing cemetery when we were all in there and never saw her, she can curl up in a small ball. We have to think like a dog, where would a stray go for food and shelter. With so much food being put out for garbage a feeding station is not much fun compared to someone who has leftover steak and chicken out.

Agreed and considering all the food lets not get too upset about those posts that used the word emaciated. Sighthounds, greyhounds and whippets etc , are skinny low body fat and to the untrained eye would be reported as very skinny. They cant afford to lose too much weight and unfortunately the big concern is cold

hb:
That's a definite possibility and another good idea....now, any hunters out there???? My only question with that tactic would be how would she actually be gotten a hold of once she's within that "circle"? Hunters don't have the same problem we do cause they are out to kill their prey.

Someone else might have some better ideas cause I have no experience in hunting (thank God!) and have only rescued cats in a trap and injured dogs who allowed me to approach and help them. Hopefully, with so many people reading this blog and all the people THEY know, maybe someone will come forward and bring this idea along to help Vivi.

I would be grateful just to have the searchers get a clue on areas she frequents and where she feeds.

I'm curious about something since I don't live in the Queens areas.
Do the Forest Park have any hidden dens or somekinds of a places that looks like a den or a hole-like looking? Maybe Vivi can be able to hid in any of the "dens" too well, that's why no one including you the fotsoldiers haven't seen her.
Just a thought.

Once sighted everyone in the circle have a pocket full of treats and sit down being very calm and quiet and take it from there

hb:
I'm going to light a virtual candle tonight and ask that somehow people with expertise such as hunters contact and help us. Perhaps a rescue group would have some people who could help form a bigger group to implement this kind of an idea on a weekend maybe. Rescue groups would have people accustomed to not spooking animals and would work well for your idea.

Vivi is alive and where there is life, there is hope. We all need to hang on to that real tight.

Paula that is why we have been all over the woods looking for places, some said there are cavelike areas in there, what they meant by that we don't know, we have scoured almost every inch of woods, there are so many places to hide, in ravines and hollowed out trees, problem is she does not stay put like a normal stray, they tend to stay where there is food, she gets bored and goes.

HB, everyone usually has stuff with them, she comes out at very odd times, late night early am and most of us work or are on our way to work and most searchers do not live in Queens, most are coming from Long island or further and with traffic it could take 30minutes to get there. Most cannot be out at these times and then drive home at 4am and go to work. We do not have enough overnighters to do this everyday and people still have lives that they have to get things done. Wish we had more time and people to keep a constant flow out there.

Well I'm not fimilar with Forest Park but if we look at the pictures on the post check out the one with the Horses. Notice how high the grass and weeds are, they are up to the Horses head. Vivi could curl up in a ball there too. I don't really know, just trying to think of ideas here... Also she ALWAYS seems to be around water, I noticed the pond in the pictures too. I really hope this rabbit bait works for Vivi and makes her come out, I always heard she loved to get the rabbits... never know, fingers crossed.

Vivi is an amazing dog, very unusual, unique dog.
Normal lost dogs seems like they usually stay put in one areas so long but not Vivi.
It seems like Vivi is very active dog since I never had the whippets! I only had German Shepherds, collie, small dogs and the goldens.

I like the idea of the hunters also but let's not put the cart before the horse. We have to know how much money is in the fund Honi controls and if she is willing to make any of it available. I don't know anyone who will work for nada, with the exception of our wonderful searchers. So, I think we should address first things first: Can we use the money and how much is there.

There is going to be a "Health Hike" in Forest Park this Sunday and perhaps volunteers can distribute flyers at that time?? Also, subsequent Sundays that have activities attracting people to the park when flyers can be passed out.

Wrong link posted...try this please for info about Sunday public activities where flyers can be handed out. http://www.nycgovparks.org/sub_your_park/park_info_pages/park_info.php?propID=Q015

I don't know anything about what is left in the "Honi Fund" ... remember it has been used to pay the 1-800 number bills, supplies and other things ... it has not been simply laying dormant collecting interest. Last I heard about the remainder of the "Harry Oakes" money is that it is $1,600 and the person who collected it has decided to keep it for herself (at least until after income tax filing time) because she thinks she's going to need to use the money to pay her income tax.

Regards,
Tara

I do know a hunter. I am going to ask him what he thinks about ways to lurk and try to spot Vivi. I don't know if they will allow someone to construct and sit in a tree platform in Forest Park. First of all, this is not a hunting area so I don't think anyone does this there. Another thing is if someone falls there could be liability issues for the park. I am also going to ask my hunter friend about good ways to lurk around for Vivi WITHOUT a tree platform.

Regafds,
Tara

I have stinky bait left from when we had a feeding station in Valley Stream State Park. If anyone wants it to use for the Queens feeding stations you have set up now, let me know and I will bring it to you!

Regards,
Tara

TTFN* Sedona! Will you be taking Julies and Sara with you?

Best,
Tara

*means "ta ta for now" ... noting dirty!

sorry typo ... "nothing" dirty

If the reward is still being offered for vivi maybe the hunters who "spot vivi" so to speak and the person/persons who actually catch her can split it. Just a thought...grasping at straws here, too.

Debbie- I am sure you all have lots of treats. I am not questioning what you have done but only offering another idea. I could not begin to do any more than what you have done for the cause

hb @ 6:52, good plan, but Vivi would just jump over anyone who's on the ground and say taa ta..lol..I fell on a hill in my backyard not long ago, my Whippet thought that was great and kept jumping over me.. MR. PEABODY REPORT: My cat, Mr. Peabody is now felineus non grata with a few of the techs at the vet hospital. He scratched on of the gals who was trying to take his Eliz. collar off tonight..He was growling at anyone who came near his crate.
He's home, hiding under the sofa and hasn't come out since he got home..He had "crystals" in his urine which caused a block, but he's doing ok other than being cranky..lol...I have 2 types of pills to give him. Pray for me huh? haaaaaaaa
He even growls at my daughter who came to see him. Poor gato!

Ruby:
I dealt with this problem with two male cats over the years. Perhaps your vet has already given you this, but in case they haven't, there is an acidifier which comes in a tube and is very palatable for cats. It will acidify his urine and will help to keep crystals and stones from forming and causing future blockages. My cat loved it and licked it off my finger, but if not, you can put a little on his nose and he'll lick it off.

It was called something like "Methigel"....I've had female cats for last 15 years and they are much less prone to this problem, so I've forgotten the exact name....your vet's probably already given it to you. Worth doing cause this is a painful and dangerous situation for male cats.

Oh Ruby, tell Mr. Peabody to behave. That is a terrible way to treat you after spending all that money on the poor old fella.

I would suggest THICK GLOVES for the pills. Sounds like he will not be a very nice patient for a while.

Good luck!

Our Heavenly Father, we also ask for the strength and healing that Sharon's friend Mary and her family will require during this time of grieving. We also ask that you give Sharon the right words to comfort Mary as well, and allow the family to share Grandpa Ed with the new granddaughter in many days to come.

We thank you for the healing of our dear Betty, and for the blessing and pleasure of meeting Michael also.

Thank you Father for the miracles you bring to us each day, and for those to come. Please keep Vivi and all these other animals and people warm, safe, and provide nourishment.

Father, I also ask for healing for a special person who you know exists in our heart's concern. Amen.

Thanks Irene, I'll ask about the tube of stuff. He has Baytrill and something else called, DL-Methionine 200 mg tabs. He's a difficult cat even when he's at his best...He, like some people, had a hard childhood...lol
I'm going to crush the pills and give him wet food in the morning. So far he's on his regular diet but by Wed., they'll know if he should be on a special diet. They also said this happens quite often in the Fall and Spring, I think..

Irene: You had the correct spelling, I just found it online. Methigel..I'll check it out for sure.

I was told to keep my male cats on a LOW ash diet (which meant only wet food usually not fish). It's possible some of the dry foods now have lower ash contents, but your vet will know best.

Cats are difficult to pill for me and I always ask the vet if the meds come in liquid form. Actually, a compounding pharmacy will prepare almost any meds in liquid form (with any flavor your cat likes) and you can use a syringe to get the meds in his mouth and for me, that's a hell of a lot easier. They always seem to have swallowed the damn pill, and five minutes later they've spit it up on the floor.

Methigel worked wonders with my cats...just need to remember to make it a routine every day and it was sure worth it for us.

Psalms 121:2 "My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."

Most gracious, kind and loving God it is from You that all good things come. For You alone are good, no good fruit can come from from a bad tree and no bad fruit come from a good tree. Therefore the help which comes from You must be good. Just the right help at just right time. Daddy God please make this the right time to bring Vivi to safety. Give the searches all the help they need. Many seeds have been sown onVivi's behalf, now Fahter make it time for the harvest. And we pray You, Lord of the harvest, to increase the laborers, bring as many as are needed to reap the harvest. Again keep Vivi, Ticket, and all the other lost, missing or abandoned ones safe from harm, fed and sheltered. Give healing to those who are in need of Your touch. Thank You Lord for helping Mr Peabody through his ordeal, bless his mommy and give her the help she needs to get through the rest of it. Please place Your hand on Mary and her family and give them the help they need to endure the pain and sorrow that they are going through. Let them feel Your presence and comfort, let them know You are close and there for them. Give them Your peace oh Lord. In Jesus' we pray and give You thanks , praise and worship. Amen.

"Within each of us is a still small voice....listen closely and you will hear God." Michael

Someone mentioned this back a few dozens postings ago....search and rescue and other emergency organizations (on the ground and in the air) have night vision goggles and heat sensing devices.

Perhaps one of these organizations could use a "training session" or a demonstration to older boy/girls scouts, etc., while searching the park and surrounding areas...you get the idea....if they find Vivi the reward money could go towards their favorite non-profit organization and great publicity for the organization, especially this time of year.

Or what about putting a search and rescue person with night vision goggles and heat sensor in a TV traffic helicopter and a reporter for a feature news cast......again reward moeny going to a favorite charity. There are enough helicopters in NYC area , certainly someone would take up the challenge. Just trying to be creative from a long distance.....Carol from MAINE.

The "Health Hike" thing could be a blessing. Find out what routes, etc will be used and follow to see if they scare up anything.

Also, are you sure she is actually staying inside the park somewhere. If she was seen near a woman's house who is feeding cats, maybe she has somewhere around the perimeter that is more secure. If by any chance she has a pup or two she will have to be hunting for them and bringing back food. They would not be capable themselves for quite some time. Also if there are lots of dogs allowed off lead in the park, she may not like that.

If you have any idea where you want to drive her to or a general idea of the proximity of where she is, you can get dried blood at garden stores. My mother in law used to use it to keep rabbits out of her garden. I'm thinking maybe you could make a scented trail if Vivi is hunting she might be interested in the scent. Maybe a trail of the dried blood could lead somewhere where you could at least verify with cameras that she is still around.

I don't think at this point she will come to anyone. Especially if she has a pup or two. Why else would she remain so hidden if she is still alive?? Trapping sounds good. Trees are a good idea because where else would a person be able to hide well enough. The driving idea sounds good if there were enough people. Maybe that hiking event would come in handy. Maybe a net or something could be used to drop on her if she comes to a feeding station. I don't know how dangerous that would be to her though--someone would have to be right there.

Just some musings maybe they will spark some other ideas from other bloggers.

I hope we will get a good news on Vivi soon!!
Today on this blog it is so quiet and so nice!!!

do do do daa!

Oh no it looks like the thing is back!!!

FREE TO GOOD HOME: 1 very large, very nasty/cranky male cat! Name: Mr. Peabody..Age: who knows, but we think 3 plus years..Color: yes..haaaaaaa
I'm hating trying to do anything with him today..He is very cranky! I took her wrist bandage off and he's all shaved. Poor thing..

Libby, we've discussed the net thing before. I wonder how much a net weighs? Whippets are a bit on the fragile side and if Vivi is thin, that means 20 lbs. I would guess...My female is 22 lbs. and the male 32 lbs.

Ruby - Snarky is the word...snarky! Poor Mr. Peabody, naked as a litte jaybird there after that trip to the vet.

At that weight, I would think any net that could hold Vivi would be dangerous. I would fear the breakage of one of her legs, perhaps. JMO

The net thing, I was just thinking how about the lightweight one? Could it work?? Not thick or heavy ones, only very light, soft ones??
I know there's many different kinds of the nets.

Any suggestions should be e-mailed to Bonnie Foltz, Paula. She can act on these.

bippity boo bah!

Kathleen--
Sorry but I know Bonnie have the email address and I couldn't find hers and I was going to send her of my suggestions. I need her address please?

Some very good suggestions on the blog today. Let's pray that one of these will do the trick and bring miss vivi home.

Looks like "Miss Thing" can't stay away. Scrolling right along...

If Debbie gets the pool in the back of her car, I'm sending her a surfboard! Betty.... you kidnapped Bobo from me!!! I was having him fitted for a tuxedo and he was eating caviar and drinking champagne! No beer for him!!!
Ruby: I am so glad Mr. Peeeeebody is home safe with you!
Good news about Duke getting special treatment! This situation with Duke defies imagination. My heart is with you Denise.
Good luck everyone this weekend and take very good care of yourselves and each other. My heart, thoughts and enormous thanks are with each and every one of you always and always. There is no way to thank you for what you are doing and have done for ten months. Let this be the weekend. Really keeping the Faith, Marnie in CA

Say What?????

Sue, We clearly have a non-english speaking new blogger. Welcome.
Any one have news on the Vivi search yet?

This French blooger doesn't like religion. It is for losers. But if the blog welcomes losers than why not the French critic too.

I don't know who the person is, so I move away clearly from unknown ones. And I don't speak French!
I use English and sign-languages.
I hope we will hearing the news on Vivi soon...

????? and so on and so on people is the same idiot who posted a week or so ago..Remember the HONG KONG THING? Copy and paste the ?????and you'll not see question marks but little square zeros..I have therefore come to the conclusion that ??? and so on and so on is the person who did the post sometime ago..ummmm, I could be wrong. Also::::::::click on the name, it's HK, meaning Hong Kong possibly..I'm conserned that we have a hacker in the blog!

I am not the French Critic - FYI.

uh, concerned!

Yes, we know we aren't French either are you, Babbling Brook.
Ruby--it did looks like we got strange person from Hng Kong thing again. I think somebody wanted to play around with us again.

my 6:25 post, "uh, concerned", I used about 5 questions marks at the end of my comment and got a notice from the blog cop and removed the questions marks and was able to post. The notice was:
IN AN EFFORT TO COMBAT MALICIOUS COMMENT POSTING BY SCRIPTS,I'VE ENABLED A FEATURE THAT REQUIRES WEBLOG COMMENTS TO WAIT A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE BEING ABLE TO POST AGAIN.

I am not Frenchhhhhhhhh of course. Ignore the hacker like you do stuff you dislike.

ok, I found a site, http://ets.freetranslation.com/
and got the above French stuff translated:

L is not no different one that all stupidity of a god of dad that populate write here! I do not take no responsibility of does not import what! A god of dad will do it for me. The religion is for losers.

My conclusion is:::drum roll: the French writing person doesn't know French very well..

Hahahaha!!! Sorry but I find it so funny!!

SueG, My question too. I don't understand it, some jerk comes in and posts time after time and we get the blog cops after us.

Marnie, my little cup cake. I'm thinking about the foot soldiers too. I hope they have something to report!

I was amazed this evening when I opened up the Daily
Reflections from Creighton University's theology department. I found the following reflection from
Maureen McCann Waldron:

"While from behind, a voice shall sound in your ears:
This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:20-21

Human beings need hope. We can get through so many difficulties with just the tiniest shred of hope. But there are times in our lives when it seems even the hope is gone. The blackness and numbness can overwhelm our days and we can feel completely isolated in our suffering, not knowing what the next step is.

For us and for the people of Israel, Isaiah wrote this message of hope. It was a message of encouragement and trust, of love and expectation. God will give us what we need. For an ancient people their needs were water and grass for pasturing sheep, rain for the crops and the Lord binding up the wounds of his people. For us it might be peace of mind, or the ability to see beyond our own great pain and help another. And always, we are promised that GOD WILL BE THERE.

For anyone who wants to follow these reflections with me:

Hello everyone,
I am just back and checking on VIVI. I know she is in good hands, the faithful searchers and never ending supporters are always here!
Seems there is no news since the sighting by the guy that saw her in the street?
That is a little disturbing and I sure hope it wasn't another fluke.
But I know your all out there doing your best and I send my very bet wishes to all of you.

DO YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE S-----?

Psalm 147 (excerpts)
Hallelujah! How good to celebrate our God in song; how sweet to give fitting praise.
The LORD gathers the dispersed of Israel,
Heals the brokenhearted, binds up their wounds,
Numbers all the stars, calls each of them by name.
Great is our Lord, vast in power, with wisdom beyond measure!
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; with the lyre celebrate our God,
Who covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, makes grass sprout on the mountains,
Who gives animals their food and ravens what they cry for.
The LORD takes pleasure in the devout, those who await his faithful care.
Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem; Zion, offer praise to your God.
The LORD sends a command to earth; his word runs swiftly!
Thus snow is spread like wool, frost is scattered like ash,
Hail is dispersed like crumbs; before such cold the waters freeze.
Again he sends his word and they melt; the wind is unleashed and the waters flow.
God has not done this for other nations; of such laws they know nothing. Hallelujah!

Father Creator, it is good for us to remind ourselves of Your wisdom and power. I am especially touched by the image of Your ability to call each of the stars by name. I would especially like it if You would melt this ice and snow. Perhaps it seems like a trivial thing to be concerned about one little dog who is lost in the bitter cold, but Father, You know our hearts, You know that to us who love creation, little Vivi has become symbolic of all animals and people who are lost and homeless, and for whom we wish the best! Take care of her Father, and all the lost animals and people who need to be loved. We pray too for those who would call us perdeurs, when it is they who are lost. We ask as You promised us through Isaiah to "show us the way to go". In Jesus' name we lift our prayers in confidence to You...
We pray this night,Father, continue Your watch over Vivi,Axel,Bowdee,Ticket,Saffie,Zoey,Vern, PA bullie girl, the show babies, Butttons,Biggie,Sniffles,Holly, African Grey, Faithful (the little girl's seizure dog),Shimi, Yorkie, Black Afghan, Buddy, Rags, Precious, Whippet Annie, so that not even “one paw slips”. Surprise us by sending Vivi home to a volunteer (Kathy from Bayside,Rosa,Tina,Gail T,Bonnie,Diane T.,Diane K-M,Darlene,Debbie,Monica,Lois T.,Nancy M,Barbara Jean,Linda S. and her husband Mike, or Renee? Margot or Irene?)
Many of us also have animals which need Your healing touch, Great Physician we lift to you for your healing Debbie's Fluffy, Ruby’s Mr. Peabody, Briar and Sabrina Skittles, Barney, Tara, Joey,Meeko,Skeeter,Andi,Sparky,Scout,Dodge, Auggie,Billy,Ezme,Clarus,Star,Doogie, CJ, Dante, Felice, Max, Little McGee, Murphy, Mylie, Barbaro, Gunner, Linus, Kiva, Ellie,(restore all that had to be taken), Morgan, Little Andi, Nicki, Dude, Tucker, Brandy, Lexie, Isabella, Twin Kittens, Bowen, Pie Bird, and Heather.Enfold all of us in Your healing embrace.

We are frail Father and many of us need Your healing so that we can serve the purpose for which You have created us.
We lift up the following people in need of Your healing:Amanda, Rosa C. Kathleen's Mom Mary, Renee, Pam,Millicent, Jacque, JL, Lance, Madison,Chris, and Abby.
God of Power, stand behind Tammie and Doogie, Duke and Denise, and Otis' followers, as they have stood behind these animals, until justice is done.Thank you for Ruby, and all the bloggers who bring these animals to our attention.Thank you so much for helping us find a good home for Kristy,Tashia, and Pablo,7 doxies, and the Halloween bunch, and help us to find a good home for Barney, 4 more doxies, and Ginger the Persian. Thanks for Duke's and Bobbie's new homes. Take gentle care with Anne who has Alzheimers, and was the doxie's former mom.
Be with all who mourn tonight, especially Renee who mourns the death Joannie. Hold Joannie’s family in Your arms. Greet all, human and animal alike, who will make the journey to Paradise this night. Reward our faithful animal companions who have gone ahead. Let all who are homeless know Your love, and ours, too.
Send your angels and saints to work with Vivi's angels. These NYC volunteers, and their leaders;Tina,Rosa, and Bonnie, serve as Your compassionate presence on earth. Don't let them become discouraged. Let them know that prayer wise "we've got their back"!Bless Jil and Rick's marriage.
Let our faith grow as a result of this experience! Restore as we sleep, Heavenly Father, as we turn over the night watch to you! YOU ARE IN CHARGE! AMEN!

Debbie my little Minion! Go to bed!

THANK YOU MICHAEL. TELL BETTY I MISS HER

Mama Ruby, bed what is that? I am staying up allnight so I can go buy new feet tomorrow morning after today. I hear there is a sale on toes and heels Ha. Love ya woman. Have a goodnight woman.
Going to rest the barkers as I call them.

Love and prayers to everyone for tomorrow. Keeping the Faith, Marnie in CA

P.S. Heres a translation of the 5:13 yesterday French post that the site I found, messed up big time.

""It's nothing different than all the stupidity ("d'un dieu de papa"... I don't know what he means here) that you people write here. I take no responsibility for anything. "Un dieu de papa" will be there for me (or looks out for me). Religion is for the lost."

Mr. Peabody my cat is still waiting for Debbie to come take him away. He's not quite as cranky as yesterday, but he's not your perfect feline! Maybe perfect for a tiger, but not a house cat. He's a stinker in other words.

Ruby I will trade you cats if you take Mr Blackie I will take Mr peadbody, I can handle the cranky boy, nothing was crankier than the strays I had to trap. Ask Darlene and Monica, they both had the wrath of trying to catch them.

Debbie,
I don't have a lot to say about the trade except, hisssss, spit, meooooowroar!

I thought a net could maybe injure her too if she tried to run and got legs tangled.

I think the french posting from the "hong kong" website originated in the US somewhere. When something originates outside the US there is a country suffix after the .com. For Australia for example, it would have a .au after it, HongKong would have a .hk after it.

Check out this website from Australia about using pheromone spray to catch feral dogs and foxes that are bothering sheep. Maybe something like this is worth a try. The website says the products actually originated in the US. I'll look around for any US sources.

Would really appreciate good thoughts and prayers for a little puppy mill IG girl who I am flying this afternoon from Kansas City to Las Vegas via Houston (go figure). This teeny, tiny girl is a year and a half old and didn't even have a name. They supposedly bred her once and after the litter didn't survive (don't know any details) they decided she was too small to breed, so they just gave her away. She will be going to her new forever home in Vegas with a wonderful mom who has had greyhounds and IGs before. I am calling her Tini, she is just precious.

She is flying Continental, which I have used a lot before and never had any problems, but I am always fearful until they reach their destinations safe and sound. I've been assured the area on the plane where they put the dogs is always kept at the same temperature as the passenger cabin.

What is also interesting is that the website talks about spreading blood and bone fertilizer around too. Maybe this and the pheromones would help to trap her somewhere. I mentioned the dried blood from garden stores earlier. You can get bone dust too from meat markets that butcher their own meats. A lot of people who feed their dogs raw supplement with bone dust for the proper calcium/phosphorus ratio.

Something new needs to be tried here. I know you probably need to have an idea of where she is to use these methods. I wonder if she really stays in Forest Park or was just in the park searching for food when spotted.

Libby, that ??? person has HK in the email addy if you look:::hk@hkrr.com
Could be from China or who knows.
Bone dust? Do you mean bone meal? There is garden bone meal which, if it has fertilizer in it, would be bad for animals. there is a bone meal for dogs tho...I think its bone meal you mean.

I hope Vivi stays there in Forest Park but who knows what Vivi's mind is like.
And I hope she's less bored and active because of the cold weather.
I know vivi's so impossible to catch and/or spotted at odd hours.

Every time I'm in the Forest Park area I can't help but think it's the most obvious "outdoors" place Vivi would want to hang out in , if she's at all in this area. It's over 1000 acres, all the room she could want. I would also think that when the sun is out, like today, any dog in that park would want to be out soaking it up, especially since it's so cold at night now. Of course, she can be unseen out there for a long time, and it's close to most of the cemeteries, at least one of them borders the park. We already know that stray dogs tend to live in cemeteries, many of them are a lot bigger than Vivi yet they manage to remain pretty much "under cover"

Chris in KC, good thoughts & good luck to little Miss Tini on her safe arrival in Vegas. Continental is one of the good guys who transport animals with care & compassion but understand your concern when there is a layover & or change of planes. Please post again when she arrives safely.

The website address would look like this:
http://www.thestandard.com.hk/ frow foreign sites.

hk or other country suffix comes after the .com

Bone dust I was referring to comes from a regular butcher shop. It is what comes from sawing through bones and is nothing but fine bone, like sawdust from sawing wood. If you know of such a shop and ask for it, they will package it up for you, around here anyway.

I think the organic dried blood contains nothing else. It is used to supplement soil with nitrogen. It is also used to deter animals from grazing on your garden or crops as it has the smell of predation and animals that are normally eaten by predators won't like it. It attracts predators for the same reason. There is stuff marked safe for wildlife.

I was just trying to think in a little different direction. I hope she decides to walk up to someone, but it seems less likely the longer she is out there.

MADISON UPDATE FROM GINA:

December 9 - cold weather!
Boy, we've had some real cold weather here in South Texas! Of course, it never lasts too long though. With cold weather comes sickness and I am happy to report that Madison has fought off every illness going around so far and has been 100% healthy. (knocking on wood) She's such a strong little girl!
If you have not noticed already, I posted some new pictures a few days ago of Madison on her field trip. They are located in the therapy and school gallery on her picture page. It was the first time I had taken her to the mall since her accident. I sometimes hate going places with her because people just stare and say stupid things. I know that it's uncomfortable but ignorance is my #1 pet peeve. When a child asks about Madison, I use that opportunity to aquaint them with someone a little different. I tell them that they can talk to her and I also stress how important it is for them to not go near pools without their mommy or daddy. Kids are innocent and just want to know and understand. But, when an adult stares and ask "what's wrong with her?!" the protective mommy comes out in me and I just want to jump on them and ask "what's wrong with you???" It's so hard to see people stare and give me looks of pity. Madison is my daughter and she is a person. She's a beautiful little girl and I am not sorry she is mine. I will forever dread March 22nd and always wish it never happened, but for some reason God gave me this child and as hard as it is, I have to deal with what has been given to me. I love Madison unconditionally and anxiously await the day that she will look at me and say "I love you too mommy" when I love on her. I can ramble on and on about this but the bottom line is that I hope when you go into a public place and see a child or an adult that is different, that you all will remember that they are still human beings and although they may not be able to communicate their feelings, they most likely still feel them. Treat them with respect. I know I'm preaching to the choir here because all who follow Madison's journey have already learned this lesson if they hadn't already. But, it's always good to have that reminder. I remember before Madison's accident, I too thought "oh I could never have a child like that." But, I do and I think we are doing a pretty good job! These children are truly special. Madison has touched so many people without uttering a word. I know that is God working through her. As hard as it is to see Madison like she is now and missing what she was before, I am lucky to be her mom. I think she's going to amaze so many people and be a testament to what can be done with the love of God, a will to live and the love and support of family and friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who continue to pray for us and stay by our side through this journey.

Thanks Libby,
I've never heard of it before, it must have bone marrow and fat in it, right? Sounds yummy..lol
Good idea you have, why not email Bonnie?
I also hope she decides to walk up to someone, but the chances are very, very slim.
