As we creep upon the second anniversary of Vivi's disappearance into the marshlands of JFK Airport, her breeder, Bo Bengtson, is gearing up for still more publicity -- this time, of the welcome kind.
The book that Bo was working on when Vivi disappeared -- and the one whose deadlines went unmet over the many months he spent tracking down leads and writing updates about the whippet's whereabouts -- is finally being published.
"Best in Show: The World of Show Dogs and Dog Shows" (Bowtie, $34.95) bows next month, with a book signing planned at the AKC / Eukanuba National Championship in Long Beach, Calif., on Dec. 1 and 2.
The book highlights the show ring's biggest names -- including the two legendary poodle specialists, Frank Sabella and the late Anne Rogers Clark -- as well as the larger-than-life show dogs who need only be introduced by their call names -- Manhattan, Coco, Mick.
As for Vivi, she lives on in the show ring through her son, Ch. Boehm Bon Vivant.

Wishing Bo great success with his new book. Reading Vivi's son's name made my heart ache with sadness. May Vivi's son meet his beautiful mother in the near future. This is the time for miracles.

I have looked at Vivi's son many times on Bo's site and marvel at how much he looks like his Mother. It is bittersweet to see him, and I hope he continues to do well.
Is anyone else encountering some problems with this new blog and format? It seems to miscount post.... When I click under a thread it may show a new count but not the post till a day or two later...
Is it just me? could they still be working on this to IMPROVE it?? will they ever have a recent comments section? Thats the worst part, no place to start so you have to fish through all the threads to see what the latest comment is.

Any news on the availabilty of the toll booth tapes for the day and time that D had spotted the Vivi-like dog? I know we are all extremely anxious to know if the dog was Vivi or not.
Mila, totally agree with your post concerning NO info on results of being able to view the tape for the morning of September 25th, when "D" had the sighting of a dog that could be our Vivi.
What could POSSIBLY take so long if follow-up calls are made to the bridge personnel? It is heartbreaking to think that this opportunity might pass, like many others, because I feel that if more time goes by, the toll takers will say they can't go back that far and look at tapes months old. They only need to look at about an hour of tape....what's the big deal here????
This sighting was on the morning of September 25th....more than 2 months ago. PLEASE, we are asking Honi, and whoever else has access to these people, to speak to these people and get a conclusion here.
