Congo, the German shepherd from Princeton Township, N.J., who is on doggie death row for mauling a landscaper that came on to his family's property this summer, is out on bail.
A Superior Court judge signed a consent order to release the dog to his owner's custody this afternoon while his case is being appealed.
Among the conditions of the release: Congo must be muzzled whenever outside, and he cannot leave the family property without prior permission of the township's animal-control officer.

Although I feel for Congo being put in this predicament, someone's death is a very disturbing thing. I do not fault the dog. I fault the owners and the lawncare people for their stupidity.
I think this is a fair trade for Congo being allowed back to the owner during the appeal. I just hope the owner will keep Congo inside most of the time without the muzzle.
Now, sure would be nice if the idiots handling Duke's case would allow a more suitable arrangement like this. After all, Duke did not kill a human being even. Could the attorneys for Duke possibly approach the Court about such an arrangement while awaiting this decision?
This is such good news for Congo and his family.
Perhaps all the calls and support for Congo have made an impact with the powers that be. May the good and fair wheels of justice prevail in Congo's appeal and move swiftly to a decision to let him live.
I know another much love dog, dear Duke, who needs to go home and should have gone home years ago. Praying for that decision to come soon and in his favor.

Thank goodness Congo has a reprieve. May our voices be heard to get this guy permanently home with his family. No dog should be the scapegoat for someone's lack of common sense.
