Last Sunday, Sargeant -- newly adopted from Elmsford Animal shelter in Westchester -- pulled away from his new owner at 64th Avenue and Springfield Boulevard in Oakland Gardens, Queens.
Sargeant is light brown (wheaten) in color, with a white marking on his chest. He looks almost like a small-sized ridgeless Ridgeback.
He was wearing a black/gray checked leash and matching collar with red dog bones and dishes on it. He was also wearing his shelter collar, which was clear with the shelter's 914 number on it. He is not microchipped.
Sargeant was last sighted near Alley Pond Park.
If you see him, contact is distraught owner JoAnn at 718-968-5576 and 845-656-3187, or email prescoj@nationwide.com.
There is a $1,000 reward.

JoAnn is very committed to finding Sargeant and has a poster made, which she has been putting up. If anyone has any ideas let her know and Kathy of Bayside and I can also pass it on to her if you'd rather.
Denise has been kind enough to put up the poster tomorrow but in the meanwhile if anyone wants to see what it looks like please email me and I will gladly send it to you. Here we go again!!
I am Sageant's mom and needless to say heartbroken and living a nightmare. He is a sweet soul and I so badly want him home curled up at my feet sleeping soundly. He is a Coonhound Mix and skittish of people. He needs to not be approached but will have to be enticed by some good smelling food to come to you. If anyone knows where I can get some inexpensive printing of flyers done or suggestions, I'll be glad to take them. I have done almost every suggestion out there from newspaper ads, to a telemarketer, to animal communicator, flyers, emailing and contacting parks dept, sanitation, real estate people etc. With the help of some people from the Vivi search team, we are doing everything possible and I am so grateful for their help! JoAnn
Hey Joann, When rain stops I will be out pounding pavement, all flyers by Alley Pond are down, uuughhhh I looked yesterday. We may have to do a foot search thru Cunningham to see if he is tangled since he was heading that way. Try PIP printing they may be cheaper. We need to know who is covering what area so we don't overlap, I will start Hillside Ave and go down around into Holliswood and if someone can start Fresh Meadows other side of Cunningham by 199th where I left off we will have the whole park covered it would be quicker. I already covered the north side and part of the south .
There is a dog at ACC that is listed as a Harrier Mix t hat just
came in yesterday. Pls physically check those 3 shelters daily
as the dogs are able to be ado pted out after only 3 days.
Best of luck, I hope you find your boy
What about Vivi? Has anyone gone to look for her?
They have been looking for her for the last two years and will continue. What else would you like to know?
Are there places we can fax or e-mail to? Please let us out-of -towners know. Joann, we all want to help you find your baby. He is precious.
of cou rse people are still following up on
Vivi leads, we are here to help other people as well. If you are
going to be so negative, go away, and have the courage to leave
your name
Good morning Daddy God. We thank you for all the miracles and blessings you have given to us so freely. We ask you to bring Vivi home now and fill our hearts with joy and laughter. It has been a long journey for us Daddy God and even so much longer for Vivi. Keep her in the palm of your hand and cuddled her close to your heart. Lead her to rescue as only you can do in your amazing wisdom and power. Bring Sargeant home to the safety, love and warmth of his home. Give your rescuers your wisdom and guidance. Lead them to Sargeant and help him to not be afraid when he is approached. Protect him, as you have Vivi and keep him sheltered under your wings of love and care. Bring this baby boy home Daddy. We ask you to heal our Rosa completely, just like you did Jaimee. Cause this cancer to completely disappear and bring her into total health and well being. Help her to feel your powerful presence as you touch her with your healing hands of love. Bless her for all the work she refuses to stop doing, even in the most trying of times. She is doing your will and your work and we ask you to raise her up into perfect health and supernatural strength. Continue to hold Pepper in your healing presence. Give her a ravenous appetite. Cause her to eat everything given to her with zest and entusiasm as you bring her enzyme levels to normal. Strengthen her and fill her with your presence and joy. Hold Jackie in your hands and help her to feel you very close to her. We ask your continuous healing for Digger, Starr and Cheryl. Strengthen Cheryl and her lovely babies. Bless Cheryl for all the labor she has done in behalf of your creation. Touch her heart and Digger and Starr's hearts with your healing and love. Help them to feel your presence and show yourself to them in a Mighty way. We lift them up to your throne of love and miraculous power. Keep Darlene dancing on those beautiful feet of hers that you made for her to run with. Bring her back quickly to run the streets and jump over the walls as she battles for your creation. She is a mighty soldier. Comfort her and help her to feel your powerful presence. Keep all of us in your care and hold us close to your heart as we look to you for all provision and for your wisdom with each step we take. In Jesus's Name, We praise you!!!!
I never thought much of CRAIG'S LIST, BUT A FEW WEEKS BACK, A WHIPPET WAS MISSING IN ARIZONA. THE GAL THAT FOUND HER JUST A FEW MINS. AFTER THE GOT OUT POSTED ON CRAIG'S LIST AND SHE HAS BEEN REUNITED WITH HER PEOPLE..
JO ANN, TRY THE SITE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY. I HOPE YOU FIND YOUR BOY SOON.
Hi Susan,
Thanks for the offer. So far I have had my office fax all the fire houses in Queens, working on Oil companies, Sanitation companies, Plumbers, Electricians, Vets, Shelters, and others I can't remember off the top of my head. But faxing to business however you think best. Pick a group and cover all of them, maybe Verizon or Con Edison locations. I have been trying to get to business that have peoplethat are on the road. Just let me know. I haven't been able to cover all of the Pet stores I don't believe so that would be helpful. How about management offices of apartment buildings could also be of a big help.
Rooby, yes checking Craigs List and have him posted there as well. Thank you for the suggestion.
Thank you Michael for all the blessings!! JoAnn
Anonymous: Believe me no one has forgotten Vivi or has stopped searching for her but sometimes the answers we want are just not available for us to know and never will be. That in no way minimizes our sadness at not being able to find her nor will we ever stop searching for her and following every lead.
Margot, thank you!
Have there been any sightings of Sargeant?
Hi!
I haven't been able to download Sargeant's flyer. Could someone e-mail to me?
I spoke to JoAnn a few days ago and she did not mention any sightings. I emailed Kathleen S. the flyer. Thank you for asking.
Susan: I have tried to email you twice and your emails have been returned. If you'd email me I'll resend the poster and an update. My note from JoAnn did mention a couple of sightings but didn't say when they were-
Here is a quote from an email:
I have received a few calls of sightings in Alley Pond Park in Bayside and another sighting at 86th Ave at Springfield Blvd. He may be traveling the parks. He could even be going so far as Kissena Park as dogs can travel far in any given day.
In another email she said: I received a call from my sister checking sights and saw a posting for a dog by the side of the road around Queens College so I'm trying to get someone over there today to check the area. It's by Horace harding expressway and Parsons Blvd.
So, she is definitely following up on calls.
Hi Susan,
If you want to email me at jp1southpaw@yahoo.com or call 718-968-5576 I'll be glad to email flyer.
Last calls received on seeing him were on Sat 1/26 and Sun 1/27 both men said saw him around 86th Ave and Springfield Blvd - young man said saw him going up Grand central prkway ramp. I received a call from young woman yesterday who said she saw a dog who looked like him being walked around Francis Lewis and Northern blvd and I should put up signs, so I'll get over there today or 1st thing am. Those were the last calls. Also Deb and Kathy were posting around the Whitestone area this weekend as there was some information received that he may be in that area. Again thanks to all - yes having family and friends scour websites.
JoAnn I pray and pray this boy is returned to you safe. His picture is adorable and he looks so sweet and soft. It is heartbreaking in a way to hear sightings because he is alone out there in traffic and walking on ramps and things. The sighting of him going up a ramp broke my heart because it reminded me of a sighting of a lost dog near and dear to me a few years before Vivi was lost. It makes me think they are trying to find the right car or something that will take them home. I'm not trying to be negative or scare anyone I'm sure this is something everyone has thought of a thousand times--that it is dangerous out there and this dog deserves to go home to safety.
I hope he gets street smart real quick or someone picks him up. That look, he has to be a real sweetie and deserves the best.
Congratulations to all you Giants fans too. I'm sure you are still up in the clouds. What a snot Bellichick was eh??
I rarely watch the SuperBowl becuase the game doesn't usually live up to the hype, but this one did, and then some. One of the best games I have seen. But I do not watch a lot of football either but I do know a good game when I see one!
Joann,
My heart goes out to you. I know he must be so scared and frightened. Below is a prayer that I hope will help:
Prayer for a lost pet
Heavenly Father, please help me. My dear pet, [pet's name], is lost. I pray you, Father, let our beacon of love shine more and more brightly, so that he/she can find his/her way home again.Let it shine forth from my heart and home to light his/her way back and to hasten our reunion. Thank you Father, for hearing my prayer. [Pet's name} come home, come home, come home!
Laura
Thank you Libby and Laura for the hope and prayers. Makes me want to cry yet again! I received a call about a dog that was dropped at Mama and Papa's pet store. It turns out to be a girl who is extremely skinny and was dropped at the clinic next door. I am going to look at her and if anyone wants a picture of her I'll email it out. 718-968-5576
JoAnn,
Please know that my prayers are with you here in Chicago. I can only imagine how you feel. Just stay strong and go door to door if you have to! (Believe it or not, my dog got out when I was in fourth grade. I went door to door and the VERY LAST DOOR I knocked on - well, the people had my dog!
I lost a dog several years ago. He was old and I was very worried. I put up signs all over the neighborhood and one sign kept getting torn down. I saw a lady walking and asked her if she had seen him she said no but later came back and said he was at one of my neighbors right across where the sign kept getting torn down. I had to threaten her with the sheriff if she did not give my dog back and she did. So you never know when you let everyone you see know about your dog. Someone will see something. Good luck and my prayers are with you for the quick return of your baby.
Checking in for any updates on Sargeant. Hoping and praying for the best of results. I also lost a dog years ago. She was the Welcome Wagon for all of the elderly residents in our neighborhood. She was always over trying to beg a treat from one of them. Well, one night she didn't come in for dinner. We searched all over town expecting to find her hit by a car and lying in a ditch. Couldn't find her anywhere. Went to bed that night completely devastated. The next morning when we got up, she was at the back door waiting to come in. We found out later that the evening before she had wandered over to our neighbors when they came home and had gotten locked in their garage accidentally. Imagine their surprise the next morning opening the garage door and a dog comes shooting out.
Kay and Margot, perfect replied dated Feb 1st and Feb 2nd. couldn't have said it better. perhaps if they were in contact with us, Marnie ((remember her???)), Jackie amd Marty, there would be no need to question what is being attempted here. being bedridden, i have not been "on foot" so to speak BUT have emailed and faxed flyers where i thought they would be needed.
JoAnne, i am truly sorry for your lost boy but assure you, these girls are diehards. you have no idea how we have mamed ourselves, made boobs of ourselves, etc. in order to find the lost ones. Sarge is in good hands :) let me know if i can do anything from home as i have mangled myself (which you probably have heard from reading this blog) but i can certainly try anything. i have done worse - my reputation proceeds me... don't look at the old blogs - that is when i was "normal". the girls will fill you in should you decide you want to torture yourself finding out about the REAL me. get in touch with me at doggiezoo2000@yahoo.com or my cell 516-205-0421.
Darlene
Darlene, we know you are a boob but we all love you for w hat
you do. Prayers and hope to Joanne for finding Sarge, I am checking all the NY shelters daily for her. Hang in there Joanne
you have the best pe ople in NYC helping you
Joann: I tried to post earlier to say how sorry I am about Sarge and his sweet face haunts me. They said I post too much. Duh..... Just a thought but have you personally gone to the shelters in the area? Sometimes they don't know what's been brought in that day. Hey DARLENE: you know you can always count on me. Hope you're not shacking up with Jose!!!! Prayers from Rhode Island that Sarge will be found soon.
When Patch was missing and I was in a panic I contacted Kat Albrecht (and others) thinking I might need a tracker. I didn't as it turned out but she liked his story and asked if she could use it for her blog and I told her she could. It isn't exactly right in the details, but close enough. My lost dog story from last March. He was also being held by the neighbors. I personally handed them a flyer. Audrey just alerted me to this the other day, I didn't even know it was there.

The neighbor thing might be a good thing to investigate. Years ago someone did that with a cat of mine. We had just spend big dollars to put her back together after being hit by a car, were moving, and could not find the cat for two days. My kids loved this cat too. I decided to canvass neighborhood behind my house. Guess what, neighbor behind me catty-corner (a pun!) had her. They said she came into their yard and seemed hungry when they tried to feed her and that their son was attached to her. I said guess what, she is my cat, my kids love her, and any cat will eat if you put food out for it. She is not starving and is worth big dollars because of a vet bill. It's like they did not want to give her back because they fed her for two days. I guess some cats are famous for doing that, though going away for a few days and stay with someone else and coming back "home". My cats do not go outside anymore.
I asked door to door and someone told me who they thought had her so I was able to get her back. I have had a dog or two escape the yard or house now and then, and I always do the same thing now. I ask everyone I see outside if they have seen such and such a dog. Especially kids. The last time one of my dogs took itself for a walk, kids pointed me to where she was. Kids notice everything whether they say so or not. Most of them especially notice animals too as most kids like animals. I've lost a pair of malamutes for almost three weeks about 15 years ago and they finally turned up at the local shelter after all that time. I almost didn't recognize the female she was so scruffy and dirty after all that time. Good luck with finding Sargeant. And all the other lost and missing others too.
Good lu
I can't believe the nerve of people keeping other people's animals without trying to find owner.
Yes! Definitely look around garages, etc. Animals tend to go there for shelter. My bosses' cat was lost for almost a week - only to find she got stuck in someone's garage while they went on vacation.
God bless those innocent creatures and the wonderful people who love them so much.
I HAVEN'T POSTED IN DAYS AND WHEN I TRIED TO TONIGHT I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD POSTED TOO MANY COMMENTS ALL READY...ACKKKKKK

Update from Memphis, TN:
Yes, we are still here after the storms last night. Darlene e-mailed to make sure I was okay, and Linda called this morning to check on me too after I had told her what was going on last night. Sure is nice to have long-distance friends who care. Thanks for calming me last night Linda too! If I ever get buried in a major earthquake here, please come looking for me and my Memphis Mob gals! Thanks for caring. Here is the update I sent Darlene for everyone else. Please pray for those who have been affected by this terrible storm front last night. The death toll keeps rising.
----------------------------
I have never been a nervous person about tornado warnings before, but I was last night. There were tornados being sighted all around Memphis, Mississippi, Arkansas which sits all around us. Our sirens were going all night around me, my parents, my son and his family, my in-laws, my godchild, etc.
We had funnels sighted right near my house, my son's house (with the twins) and my godchild's house, Stacey. I was a nervous wreck.
My poor son in Texas was freaking out and calling, and Mikayla said she almost had to make him take something to knock him out he was so stressed out. Check out CNN news. Mikayla said there were lots of pictures, etc. on there.
I am very humbly thanking God for protecting myself and my family this morning. Last night was "too close for comfort!" But I prayed very hard, and God's most certainly answered my prayers.
Kathleen in Memphis, TN
So glad you and your family are OK Kathleen. I saw the pictures. One lady said her house was gone and she didn't know where her dog or horses were or if they were even alive. It was really bad.
Kathleen, when I heard on the news this morning about the tornado in Memphis, I was wondering about you. Do you have a basement in your house so you can just shoo everyone down there when it gets rough? I've only come close to being in a tornado once and once was more than enough for me. Please take care.
Kathleen - so glad to hear you and yours are ok ---- I think my daughter was out of the line of "fire" being near Knoxville. Stay safe.
Darlene --- hope you are healing up ---- hope you have a lot of vacation or disability coverage ---- you've been off work a long long time gir
So glad you're o.k. Kathleen as well as your family.
Another lost dog From Delta: 1/29/08. An Aussie escaped from Delta Airlines near the airport hotel in Albequerque NM. Will update if I get more info. This will probably be swept under the rug like so many others. How sad.
Darlene: you know I was only joking about Jose!!!!!
Aussie FOUND!!!!!!!! that's all I know. Yipeeee
KATHY: THANKS DARLIN'. NOTHING YET. DISABILITY MOVES SLOW IN NY. TOTALLY SUCKS, TRUST ME. ALTHOUGH I HAVE A GREAT JOB, I HAVE BEEN OFF FOR 5 WEEKS. MARGOT, AUSSIE FOUND???? WHAT AUSSIE???? STUPID VICODIN......
WHOEVER THE 4-LEGGED LITTLE DICKENS IS, WOO-HOO!!!!!
THAT GOES FOR ALL OF THE FOUND ONES :)
DUH, I GOT IT, MARGOT. JUST READ THE ABOVE. I KNOW YOU WERE "PULLING MY LEG" - MY GOOD ONE!!!!
HA - WHAT A KNEE SLAPPER.
I'm glad you're ok KathleenSsss and your family also.
Gives true meaning to the words of Dorothy:::::THERES NO PLACE LIKE HOME. THERES NO PLACE LIKE HOME...xoxodorthy & toto..
Thanks everyone for your kind words. And Roooby, if I had your Ruby shoes I would have been really clicking them last night to take me home with those sirens going. That is a scary, scary trip home from work!
I am so happy to hear this Aussie was found. God bless its heart! Wish we could have the same ending for Vivi. I seem to be dreaming about her all the time now for some reason. I would sure love some closure to this long saga - like the rest of you all.
Darlene, did you get a good report from the doc. Hope so. Know about that vicodin. Sure kills the pain. I had to use it while with the pneumonia and costochonditis in my right chest wall. It works though! Guess you and I are joining Dr. House, huh!
AS I WAS SAYING WHEN THEY WOULDN'T POST MY WORDS::::::::::SARGE HAS OVER 20 CANDLES,
THANKS TO YOU GUYS.
KEEP VIVI'S BURNING AND DANTE'S SITE...XOXOX
Kathleen, I'm so glad that you and your family are fine. A Tornado is scary enough to see on TV but to see the funnels must have been awful. When the town sirens go off, you know that it's not good. Glad to read that you're feeling better.
Good news about the Aussie. Now Miss Vivi has to show her cute face. Any news about Sargeant? I just faxed some more flyers to businesses.
Hi Everyone,
Just came across this e-mail about stress and rescue dogs. Here it is if interested and hope it helps:
Stress-Free Pups February 7, 2008
If you have recently adopted – or plan to adopt -- a shelter or rescue dog, some gentle petting may help ease your new pet into home life.
An animal shelter can be a stressful environment for a dog. In a study, however, shelter dogs receiving 20 minutes of daily petting and human interaction over the course of 8 weeks experienced significant reductions in their blood levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Petting your new pet frequently may help your dog make a calmer transition to domestic life, too.
Laura
Just posting to say Thanks to all who are praying for Sarge, Vivi, Dante and all the other lost little souls. Thank you for the candle vigial Rooby. I too have started a candle vigil in my house.
SueG - how and which shelters are you checking? I know Bonnie goes to the Brooklyn Shelter - I was going to go to the Long Island shelters yesteday but received a few phone calls of a sighting by Glen Oaks Campus on Commonwealth. Tonight I posted some, and ran into a man who works for Coldwell Banker and emailed him the flyer to share with all other 60 offices. I started emailing flyer to realtors in Queens/Nassau Cty Long Island. An ad went into all 14 local papers Times Ledgers and the Tribune today. This is so mentally and emotionally draining but I can't give up. I know he's out there somewhere. I also know there are some fabulous people helping me and I can't thank you all enough for ALL your tireless help and thoughts. JoAnn
Received an email 2 nights ago along with call re: same 2 dogs running close to cunnimham park. After emailing pic to both people, it was determined that neither are Sargeant. People still trying to catch them but smaller dog not so friendly.
I also received a call today from a woman who spotted a dog Sat 2/2 who looks like Sargeant heading south on 185th St from Union Tpke however dog had green leash on and Sargeant had new collar and leash. Not to say that he was caught and the leashes were replaced. Posting over there as well.
I feel for you JoAnn...Keep the faith, you're doing the right thing and I hope you'll find you little guy..Look at us, the Vivi group, we're going into 2 years with the search for our girl...
I also have a candle on my kitchen counter, one in a glass jar. I call it my VIVI AND DANTE CANDLE and faithfully light it every morning when I feed my dogs.
Good wishes for your finding your baby.
xoxorooby
Still praying and looking for news of Sargeant. I so wish for him (and our friend Vivi too) to be found safe. Was he a stray before, picked up on the streets, or an owner surrender? Just wondering how he may be faring out there if he has been there before or not!!Best wishes JoAnn and may you continue to get leads and phone tips that lead to his recovery. I'll say again, what a sweetie he looks to be, what a face. Find someone to help you home Sargeant you sweet faced little man.
JoAnn - One of our NPs at St Jude has a dog named Sugar that could pass for Sargeant. I saw her picture this week and had to share Sargeant's search with her. She is praying you will find Sargeant like she adopted her Sugar here in Memphis. Sugar is the love of her life. Sally LOVES animals like all of us.
Joanne,
I, too, have been praying that Sargeant be found and okay and for Vivi and the other sick and lost babies. I'm going to be doing a candle vigil tonight at 9:00 p.m. (EST) for all of these sweet fur babies that need our prayers if anyone would like to do the same. Good luck to all.
Laura
9:00... you are on, Laura!
JoAnn, there are so many NYC shelter listings on line - I have been checking for Sargeant as a hound mix and as a shepherd mix on petfinders and the other shelters that do not post on petfinder. Hoping and praying you find your boy!
I mailed from my office today a hot yellow flyer to all 300+ Queens public schools with an insert to post in a well viewed area, PTA people, scan it and email it out etc I also put together a list of all the Vets, etc in Queens, Brooklyn, and Nassau Cty that should go out in the next day or so on a flourescent colored post card. I along with some other great dog lovers and souls posting signs. I will be in the street all tomorrow posting more signs. Again, thank you all for all the prayers candle vigils etc. Susan thank you for faxing if you did any on behalf of Sargeant. I received a call two days ago regarding a woman who saw a dog like Sargeant not too far from here but it had green collar on but who knows.
JoAnn, I'm going to fax more businesses. I did some yesterday. I had realtor lists which you posted you already sent out. You are in my prayers. May you get many calls of sightings tomorrow. I hope you have your adorable pup home with you very soon.
I am learning first hand how hard it is to lure a dog into a trap. I've been on the lookout for a lost baby that I've spotted twice the past 10 days. The second time another woman and I stopped our cars, parked them on a very short driveway (amazing our cars weren't hit by the Main St. traffi) and tried to coax the dog to us. I had a leash and collar I always carry in the car. We had no luck, but found an old doghouse. While the woman went to get dog food to put there, I called the Norwich ACO. When she called back she said they've been trying to get this dog who was getting fed at McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts so was not going hungry plus the doghouse is for a ferral cat colony and supplied with food and shelter. Michele said she told the food places not to feed the pooch so the food in the trap would be tempting. No luck yet and my daughter and I are wrecks. We're such softees so everytime we pass the area we are scanning for this pup who seems to be pretty smart. It's not far from our home.
Hope we get news soon on these lost pups.
Someone posted a link to a current article about Vivi in the New York Times in the Westminster Dress Code section. About her being lost for 2 years now and animal psychics communicating with her. IF you haven't seen it yet you may want to read it
Please come home, Sargeant and Vivi.
hi my name is Kathy and i live in Bayside/ Oakland gardens . i contacted Joanne maybe a week after sergeant went missing to offer my help. i have been out with Joann posting fliers. yesterday we hit alley pond again, Douglaston golf course, we went behind Creedmore hospital, on winchester and into queens farm through the back. we spoke to workers there and handed out more fliers. at one point we looked at each other because we heard a dog bark from what sounded like the back of the farm. we walked through as much of the woods as we could and didn't here it again. sergeant is also posted on east Hampton blvd and some more on Cloverdale. i drive around through out queens before i have to go to work with the hopes he'll be found. my prayers to st. Anthony and st. Francis are day and night for his and all other lost boys/girls safe return home.
Kathy S,
My prayers are also with you and Joanne for sargeant to be found safe and sound. If you heard a dog bark in that particular area is it a safe area do you think away from traffic. If so, maybe he could seek shelter in or around the farm in a barn or something. I'm just grasping here because it has been very cold here in Connecticut and I'm sure where you are, too. Please keep us informed.
Laura
Kathy, thanks for the update. Still praying and lighting candles that he will be found soon.
hi, Laura it's freezing here in N.Y. too !! Kay my candles are lite also. the farm is in the middle of Queens, there is traffic, and Parkways around it. The back of the farm is away from the main rd. in front of the farm. The wooded areas in Queens are pretty Massive, you don't realize it i think until you are looking for something. ! I spoke to Joann last night and she going to post some more around 188th street and G.C.P. I do know someone who works for a bus depot in college point he will post in his garage and pass fliers out to all drivers, so hopefully almost all buses leaving that area will have them. All of my vendors i use at work have fliers and keep them in their trucks. If this little boy only knew how many people are looking for him !
St. Francis and St. Anthony please hear our prayers for his and all other lost boys/girls safe return.
Have there been any sightings of Sargeant? What areas are being posted? I had faxed and e-mailed some synagogues in the area and asked them to hang the flyer where congregants can see it.
JoAnn, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I too am hoping to see news of Vivi or Sargeant. Both are in my thoughts and prayers. I keep hoping Sargeant finds Vivi, and they both come home at the same time. Wouldn't that be grand?
Hi .... I was out with Joann and her sister yesterday (monday). We have posted Marathon pkwy from northern blvd to 61st avenue, The east bound side of service road of G.C.P. along hillside avenue, 73rd avenue to 164th Street. Northern Blvd in douglaston the enviormental center, C.V.S. 7-11 and posted along Northern Blvd. Joann printed up small yellow post cards that we handed out to golfers at douglaston golf course and left some in the pro shop. Everyone we run into has seen his flyer somewhere and it seems everyone knows about him !! Now to just find him . Joann received two phone calls this week from 2 different people saying they saw him in the beggining of February running North on winchester and the other one said Douglaston Pkwy. Hopefully he will slow down so we can catch up with him soon .................. St. Francis..please watch over the lost fur babies we search for.

Hi All..just taking a moment to write. Haven't forgotten about this, just busy trying to keep my life in order...and do as much Sargeant searching as possible. There was a sighting of a dog in Whitestone around 210th St and 53rd - a dog following a lady who an Italian man said looked like Sarge and the woman was shooing him away. Idiot! Other than that trying to cover sections in blocks if you will to fill a neighborhood with signs.
Sent email with his NEW flyer to about 10 rescue groups. Going to send 3rd round of postcards to all 300+ vets I located in Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island. Please email me at jp1southpaw@yahoo.com to get his updated flyer. I sent it to about 50+ business from the Little neck link my sister sent me. It had church, Elks club, boyscouts, etc emails and emailed the flyers with a plea to share even if they are not animal lovers, but have a heart and some compassion. I also sent to Alley Pond Striders which is about 200+ people. Working away at this. Bonnie gave me a great contact for flyers, so I just got 5,000 more flyers to hang...had a pizza shop owner offer to make flyers and put on pizza boxes. If anyone has time to call pizza shops to see if they will do the same I'll be glad to drive there and bring them flyers. Pick towns like Whitestone, Littleneck, Bayside, Oakland Gardens
I will write a book about this experience - called "Lessons from Sargeant" and every penny will go to help lost, sick or homeless animals! I am already formulating the chapters in my head. On top of all this stress, I have a little dog Alli and I was supposed to get her yesterday for 2 weeks - I share custody of her with ex husband - ONE regret in life!! He refused to give her to me and didn't show up yesterday. So now I have to call his attorney on Monday. I could use some behind the scenes help with that one - so if someone possibly could help with that (email help would be great) you can email me at the above email address. So no shortage of stress in my life right now! XO to all that are praying, helping checking websites, pounding the pavement (Debbie, KathyS, Bonnie, and a few kind ladies from last week's flyer blitz who came to help. I'll put together a list of websites that I posted him on if people can continue to check them. Its hard to check daily all the sights and spread the word at the same time. I had a young woman call me last week saying she sees the flyers all around and it breaks her heart. She offered to help post flyers. I took her up on it - what a doll! Off to post! JoAnn
OK spent about 4+ hours out posting from 73rd Ave all the way to Utopia. Almost every block has a flyer on alternating sides, next to PO boxes, busstops and intersections. Went up Utopia, stopped at Firehouse - cute boys there:-) Guy said Sarge was a beautiful dog...I said yup an he wants to find his way home! Went right onto Horace Harding and posted all along that street almost every block, went into stores, posted in a few places, ie: laundry mat, deli...continued up to the Fresh Meadows theatre area. Posted there and outside FM post office for the 3rd time - signs keep coming down :-((( Went into the area behind Applebees in park lot and posted there and then in front of Applebees, Starbucks - put one in mailbox of fresh meadows rental mgt office - I'm sure they get lots of traffic esp at first of month! Jumped to just north of 495 on service road by deli /busstop and went up 215th and posted in side streets, then right onto 58th ave posted every block there and around cordorsa HS, then up past Queensborough college - posted there a few weeks ago - then went up to E Hampton Road and posted EVERY block there - that road runs along side Alley Pond Park. Circled back to Springfield and then home. Kathy gave me listing of all Catholic schools in area and I'll contact them tom re: their requirement of community service prior to graduation and maybe they can hang some flyers. I have about 4,000 left. Got home had some dinner and stuffed flyers. Going to take a hot shower and off to bed soon. I rented 2 movies this weekend and shocker didn't see either one of them. Thanks again to all!
Joann post to the newer threads in March for updates on Sarge, people forget to look back here, I posted about the sighting from this week and the areas are getting covered. I told kathy what I did and found areas I had no idea existed that connect to the parks, not to worry I plastered all over for 3 hours. I have a strange feeling he is hanging around Cunningham Park.
