Hey people!
Dante isn't doing very well...He had blood work done yesterday and the results will be back today. I'm
really worried about the little boy. He had a kidney removed sometime ago and now Val fears the one kidney thats left, is having problems...He's been off and on with his food for awhile now. He was at the vets Saturday and then, yesterday they did blood work.No results yet, but he is very sick and it seems got to the "very sick" point quickly.

Pray for Dante, pray for Val...It's a sad time when a pet gets sick.

You don't choose a presidential candidate on whether or not they have a dog. McCain agrees with war but he has alot of dogs. So what? Do any of you remember the cat, Spit McGee? I had an email that said, Spit passed over last week. His mom is devastated! Spit did hang on for over a year and I know she was greatful for that.

Dante crossed over the rainbow bridge at about 6:30 Pacific time. His vet met Valerie, Trotter and Zipper at a park, under a tree and Dante left us.
Pray for Valerie in her time of sorrw. All our pets are special, but this sweet boy went through a lot in his life.

I really feel Val's pain. He was our special guest many times.

FYI - I emailed each and every presidential candidate relative to animal right issues... The only "people" who responded were Obama's. Yes, it's wonderful that McCain has pets, but I do hope that whomever ends up in office helps the ones who can't speak for themselves.

And also does something about these stinkin' gas prices! I work to fill up my tank! I literally sit there when filling up and think, "There's baby formula!" "There's a pair of shoes!" It's crazy!

My thoughts and prayers are with Dante's family. He is at peace now and will suffer no longer in God's hands...

I feel for you. It is getting closer to 100 here in Memphis, but the humidity will kill you! I wish it would rain and cool things off some.

We are praying for rain. When I water it just rolls off instead of sinking in. It has been over a 100 for the last few days. That tub of ice sounds great.

I have the tub, its a galvanized big tub I used to bathe the dogs in, in the Summer...I think I prefer my drinks out of a bottle, in the house or in the shade of a tree...lol

Just talked to Valerie, she thanks all of you for your kind letters and support. She's having a very hard time
with Dante's death. Sad times for her other dogs too, they can't understand why mom is crying.

Sue, I just copied and pasted your kind words and sent them to Val. It helps her, it really does!

I just talked to her a few minutes ago. She can talk today without breaking down as much. It's a long hard thing to go through and she thanks everyone who has been so great in her time of sorrow!

The candle site at one time had 170 candles lit. This morning early there were 168. Candles are burning out, but you guys were all the best in Vals time of grief and I thank you for her. I'm sure soon she'll be sending an email out.

Sue G. agree 100% !! Most of us who have pension palns, retirement accts, etc are invested in oil stocks, about 90% of the XOM stock is owned by pension plans and individuals. We have to buid more refineries, produce more coal with the newer , cleaner technologies, develop alternatives and maybe conserve some more.
Much as I love dogs I wouldn't choose a candidate based on how many animals they have, at least not to a huge degree.

I speak the truth, and I'm not the only one on this board who feels the same about the excessive amount of medical procedures that were performed on that poor dog. But as usual with any topic discussed here, differing opinions are not welcome, and anyone who disagrees with you is a 'freak'. Val let Dante go when her vet told her it was time. Val did everything for that sweet boy and for you to say that about her pisses me off. Why don't you get your ass off the blog and find someone else to hurt. Something is obviously missing in your life. Maybe it's a heart.

Anything can happen. With the free falling newspaper industry, I would be less surprised if Newsday cut staffing and did away with nonessential pet columnists.

I admire Val for fighting for this little guy's life for so long. Dante was indeed a beautiful baby boy! Fortunately, she was physically able to afford this battle - many could not. I'm sure Val also gave up much to afford this for Dante - and this is true love and compassion. I am one of those that would not be able to do so, and it would break my heart. But I can assure everyone, this would not mean I loved my baby girls any less than Val or anyone else. They are my life!

I have no problem with people who are so devoted to their pets to do this. It is only sad so many other animals are being euthanized during this period who are healthy. I wish these others could know the love Val feels for Dante too and have wonderful homes. The rest of us with healthy babies just have to fight for these others, and allow people time to say goodbye to the pets they love so much like Dante. I wish I knew the words to erase the pain Val is feeling over her loss. So please be kind to her.

I think a blog exorcism is in order. I started a candle group at gratefulness for Anonymous under ANON. In the old days, fire was used to drive away evil spirits. Of course, back then they burned the person at the stake. We do not believe in doing that here. Rather, we want to use the power of the light or fire from the virtual candles to exorcise the evil that has taken over this blog. Lighting candles is a symbolic means of healing. After you've lit your candle, do not responsd to Anonymous anymore. Though we recognize its right to an opeinion, we do recognize that we are dealing with someone who is not quite all there to put it politely. If Anonymous wants to respond to its own messages and have dialogues with itself so be it. Mental illness is difficult to explain and understand and we know that this is Anonymous' cry for help. Nonetheless, as much as we sympathize with the condition, we do not want to act as Anonymous' enabler or therapist. That is for the professionals to deal with. Neither do we want to encourage this behavior.
