Scream II?

HillaryChinaHat.jpeg

For about thirty seconds during last night's debate, Hillary Clinton got so worked up about Barack Obama she was practically bellowing. Joe Trippi, a top John Edwards strategist who masterminded Howard Dean's 2004 campaign, said it reminded him -- gulp -- of the "Dean Scream," if not quite as mind-bendingly nutso.

"No," he said when asked if her scream was as a bad as Dean's, "But it's about as close as you can get."

He added: "I think change won -- and the status quo lost it."

A senior Obama adviser had a similar opinion. "It was a bit of a jarring moment," he said. "She seemed extremely hot and I can't imagine that it helped her."

Clinton strategist Mark Penn said Clinton looked "presidential" and would continue to "contrast" her record with Obama's.

UPDATE: CNN, Fox, etc. are focusing less on her anger and more on her quick, funny response
to the why-don't-they-like-you question. But CNN's re-airing the debate tonight in it's entirety...

bellowing? that's a ridiculous assertion, a cheap shot designed to play into stereotypes about clinton. i thought thrush was a reporter, not an editorial writer or shill. this is really shabby.

You are very sexist, Glenn. Any woman who asserts herself is hysterical and shrill in your mind. That baloney.

And take off that silly damn hat in your photo. You look like an idiot!

I watched the video, and she did cross the line. She acted like she was talking to children who disobeyed her. Picture her talking to foreign heads of state like that.

She kept on asserting that she was for change because she has already changed things. Her message isn't working and her frustration is showing. Its done for her. She doesn't know it yet.

And, by the way, I am a woman who does not and will never support HIllary Clinton. She's too phony for me. There's nothing real in her.

Anonymous @ 11:47 -- So it's OK for Edwards to attack her like a pit bull (picture him talking to heads of state like that, as you say), but if she defends herself she's over the line? Give me a break. You've got double standard. One for women and a completely different one for me. Hillary was remarkably poised IMHO. I wanted to get up and slap Edwards. He deserved it.
