Video: Phony news from the Senate Democrats
Here's a new web-based product from the state Senate Democrats -- video press releases about the great things Sen. Malcolm Smith et al are doing, presented as "One New York News." It gives a lot of face time to Brian Foley, which is probably easier than promising that they won't shrink LI's share of school aid.
There's nothing wrong with using web videos to promote your positions, members and activities. The only problem is the label. When did "news" become a slogan that anyone could appropriate for biased, slanted, self-interested publicity?

Let's be honest here. TV news have been using Video News Releases (VNR's) for years and years. Newsday publishes repackaged pablum relying on "news" releases too.

I guess the Democrats have found all those TV studios that the Republicans built. I also see that they seem to have a "LARGE" communications staff. Now I guess this is what "1984" is all about all the news "BIG SMITH" sees fit to show.

Or are you really that out of touch? I remember the good old days, new the media really gave us the news, with just a little slant (nobody is perfect), and then let us, the readership/viewership, make up our minds on what we thought of it.
Nowadays you guys try to lead us around by the nose, and it isn't helping, it's making thimgs worse, because you believe in nothing (even those you promoted), tear down everything (even those you created) and dig up dirt on everyone (except each other, and I know reporters and you guys are NOT examples of sterling humans).
So please, go find someone naive enough to buy that line, but good try!
