I'm Trend Watching Again!

Trendy, stylish, hip.....I hear that a lot when people talk about my look. I'm grateful, but not surprised. I really love to shop and I'm really into staying with the times. Since I follow trends on my own so much, my executive producer pulled me to the side and said why not start doing it on the air. I'm not calling myself an expert or anything, but I do like to think that I have an eye for fashion.

I'm saying all this to say, I just did a report Monday on swimsuit trends for spring/summer of 07. I can tell, you won't go wrong finding a swimsuit that has some color, some detail, or is nautical. The experts say, stay away from the black and go for yellow, red, fuchsia or green. Also, look for little extras like beading, crochet pieces or shells. That looks good too. Anything navy and white is also a winner. Very classic and thank goodness it's back. I love it!

Watch Tuesday and Wednesday for more trend spotting. Tuesday, I will feature the latest trends in sunglasses. You will find out what the stars are wearing this season. Wednesday, I talk all about trends in shoes. A little hint.....colored, patent leather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy shopping,

Val

Hey Val: I missed the swimsuit presentation. You are perfect for this job of showing fashion trends. I caught the sunglasses deal today. Man, you looked hot in the pair you were wearing when you gave a trailer about the presentation.
I watch other shows that show fashions. I'm always amazed at how the guest will talk about the item and then rattle off her tongue a price that most of us couldn't afford or shouldn't be maxing credit cards for. I'd like to see some low-priced, affordable items and then go up the ladder with prices.
Keep on.

Who is your hair stylist? I'd love to give them a try as your hair looks fabulous every day!

I loved the suits at Target too.. I think I'll go for the tankinis you suggested. I'm a little scared of the skimpy two-pieces myself.

Thanks for the advice, Val!

Hey Val! this is kind of a random comment. I work for a tv station in Grand Rapids and we were told to check out this site to see how morning news blogs work. Anyway I was looking around the site and saw you are a so cal girl. I am too! Amazing that two so cal girls ended up in the bitter cold midwest. I ended up in my first ditch last saturday and it made me REALLy want to go back home. Too bad I love my job too much!

Hey Sasha,

Thanks for checking out our blog. Cool, unh!??!?! Hope it helps you all in Grand Rapids. Good luck staying out of the ditches. I have had my share of winter woes on the roads. Don't worry, spring is around the corner
:-)

Marla,

My hair stylist's name is Vonda Kennedy at Swivel Salon on Randolph in the West Loop. Give her a call. You'll like her.
