Disney Bound?!?!?
Here's what I am up to these days.
I AM GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!
At least, that's what I am working on. My 4 year old daughter is driving me nuts about going to Orlando, Fl.
At Sunday dinner, she led the prayer and even thanked God for Cinderella and prayed that she would find her slipper.
She also prayed that we are safe in Florida.
Mind you, I have not bought one ticket.
So, if you have any advice for me in making this trek to Disney world, please offer it up...like how to survive, how long should I go for, where to go, where to stay, rent a car or not....that kind of stuff.
I have never been to Florida before, let alone Disney world.
I want to go this spring....which means I'm probably out of luck, because everything is booked up. But, hey who knows.
I am going to give it the good ol' college try.
Wish me luck!

Val, I recommend the "Passporter Guide to Walt Disney World." Great book, great tips, really gives you lots of info on planning. But my own tip for your trip would be DON'T DRESS YOUR DAUGHTER UP AS A PRINCESS!!! Sure, it's cute as can be a 9 in the morning when you enter the parks. But trip after trip I've seen little girls look MISERABLE by the end of the day. Having to run around in the heat for 6 or 7 hours in a costume that was designed to be worn for an hour or two indoors. And trust me, they were making sure their parents, and everyone within ear shot, was just as miserable.

Val, I agree that the Passporter guide is good. There are alo some good websites (including Disney's) that give good advice. One is http://www.allearsnet.com/ . They have a good range of advice for people of all ages. My experience is that I wouldn't stay anywhere except on Disney property. They pick yu up at the airport (you don't even have to claim your bags) and deliever you to the hotel. Once teher they have free transportation to everything. Where to stay is up to you. There is nothing wrong with their "value resorts" and in fact they are better suited to kids. I am a Dsiney fanatic, you wil have a GREAT time!

Val,
My husband & I love Disney World. It's not just for kids. We actually use Birnbaum's Guides (another book). Also check out websites: www.allearsnet.com and intercot.com for tips and information. The message board at intercot.com is very helpful. Definitely get a hopper pass and I think the resorts either around the Magic Kindgom or Boardwalk are the way to go! Have fun!!!!
PS -- We usually go in May and the crowds aren't too bad.) If you go during spring break it WILL be crowded--just prepare yourself.

I work for an airline. Most of the people I sought out suggested the Nickelodian Holiday Inn. 1 mile away and transportation is included. There is a water park on site as well as free "real" breakfast. Kids eat free. 2 room suite $249.
