Vacation for Val - Sort of ?!?!?

Two weeks until I'm on vacation and nowhere to go.
That's right, I've waited too late to book any kind of trip now.
That is, unless I want to spend a ton of money and I DON'T.
So, I think my husband and I are going to spend the week cleaning out the basement.
Exciting!!!!!!!!!!!
We have so much crap down there from when we moved here a year and a half ago.
It's a mess.
Yeah, I know, this may sound boring, but it'll be very productive and sometimes productivity can be just as satisfying.
Who am I trying to fool?
I think myself.
Anyway, I do want to thank those who wrote responding to my last blog with all the great Disney info.
I'll use it one day...but not anytime soon.

Happy Spring Cleaning!

Val

Val, we've all been there. Household duties that we dread. However, I suggest the following. Each morning before you guys get started, go out for a nice family breakfast. Then come home and put on some upbeat music and get started. Set goals for Monday, Tuesday, etc. At least at the end of the week, you will have accomplished something! Best wishes.

hey val...why not take a long weekend somewhere...after a long week of cleaning out your basement you could run up the wisconsindells or something. not very glamorous, but it's 'away' ;) they have those all inclusive indoor water resorts for the kids and spas for you.

love you guys!

Been there, done that and can totally relate! Hope you get organized--might feel like it is worth it then.

Sorry you are not getting to go to Disney World. That place is totally awesome!! We are still debating that ourselves too for this year.

Gaylord Opryland Hotel and the Nashville area is one of our get-aways. The hotel is so nice. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A COUNTRY MUSIC FAN!!! However, this trip may be a little boring for children. Pick up a Nashville guide--maybe that will work out. 3-4 nights/days is usually sufficient.

Val -- go to St. Louis! Seriously, St. Louis is a great city to visit with families and it won't break the bank, either. The arch is awesome, you can eat at the Spaghetti Warehouse, visit the brewery, the zoo in Forest Park is fantastic -- and free!!

Depending on your kids' ages, you should go to the Magic House or to the City Museum. The City Museum totally rocks!! It's this big warehouse downtown that is full of crazy sculptures, caves, tunnels, and slides all made from recycled junk. It will make you feel like a kid again, too. We have been to the City Museum three times and my kids are always begging to go back.

And this is the time of year to go, before it gets all 100 degrees with 100% humidity, too.

Hi Valerie, my name is Britani Kindle you may not remember me but you mentored me my senior year for my high school project about 2 years ago in Flint. I'm so glad to see that you're doing good in Chicago. I've been trying to get into contact with you for the longest, but wasn't successful. Anyways I understand what you mean about the vacation. I had spring break a few weeks ago and wanted to go somewhere but couldn't because I waited too late and didn't want to spend all of that money.

Hey Val, Check out last minute trips at Travelocity. You can get super cheap trips for over the weekend. I went to LA for under $400 once. My mom and I went to San Diego for around $300 a person as well. Just a thought so you don't have to spend your entire vacation cleaning.

Hi Val, if you search WELL on the internet, you will find a LOT of bookings available. I could easily get bookings in a WEIRD week full of vacation. My advice is search well and dont panic. Thanks
