DANNY DEVITO

We received some feedback about Thursday's interview with Danny DeVito and his unfamous co-star. They were pitching a DVD release of DeVito's "ITS ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA."
The interview was awkward, to say the least.
Behind the scenes, we were promised Danny DeVito but when it was showtime, DeVito told his peeps that he would not do the interview unless his co-star was involved in the interview.
We reluctantly agreed, but intended to focus on Devito.
Right out of the box, the unfamous co-star starts babbling and won't stop talking, while he and DeVito wave their DVD's in the air and read endorsements about how great it is. I think most people in our line of work resent when guests turn our show into the celebreties own personal home shopping network.
So Dean, Robin and I sat there staring, and wondering when they'd stop telling people to buy their DVD, and instead, explain why this production, which few people have heard of, is worthy of our $29.95.
You think DeVito would've pulled that stunt on The Today Show? I doubt it. Unlike other shows, we don't mind calling the stars out on their own red carpet.
"So if it's so great then why haven't we heard about it?" I asked. "I took an internal poll here in the studio and no one has heard of it."
I don't think Danny liked that question and implied maybe we're not that cool in Chicago. Through WGN, you invited Danny into your living room, and he came stomping through with the grace of Louie DePalma. Thanks Danny---thanks for nothin'.

I hate that too. Can't celebrities just talk about regular stuff. Enough with the "I make a line of jewelry" and "buy my book" garbage. I watched your movie or tv show, isn't that enough?

You guys were SO right with the Danny Devito interview and trust me, HE and his (who the Hell was that?) co-star looked like major lame, jackasses. The WGN guys, as always, came out smelling like a rose. Or close to a rose, anyway...

Right on, Larry. Danny isn't the great star he used to be. I hope he remembers an excellent TV Chgo station wanted HIM when he's on the way down

How old are you? 90? 100? It's hard to tell. First of all, the show is quite popular and has been critically well-received. Maybe the issue isn't that the show is so unpopular, as you suggest, but rather that you are well beyond the show's demographic. Maybe you haven't heard of it because you're in bed by 8 p.m. or too busy watching "Matlock." I'm surprised you are so put off because they came on the show to promote their DVDs (notice the absence of an apostrophe; that is the correct spelling). That is the point of a promotional tour. EVERY actor, musician, etc., goes onto TV shows and promotes their product. (And, you might recall, Danny DeVito was hammered when he went on "The View," so he has pulled "that stunt" on other, more reputable, shows.) If you don't like that, then don't have any celebrities on your show. Or have Andy Rooney on and feed him applesauce. I also don't think he was suggesting Chicago is full of morons, just the WGN studios.

I've heard of it, but I've also heard Brittney Spears sing. Doesn't mean it's good.

You've got to be kidding Adrianne? You lost all credibility when you called "The View" more reputable.

GO LARRY!

I saw the interview and think it goes along with their show perfectly. I think "Always Sunny" is twisted and demented and Larry would probably LOVE it!

I've got to kinda go with Adrianne on this... Although she's a little harsh on you being out of the demo for this show. I mean, I'm in bed by 9, but I Tivo the Daily Show.

I'm not in the demographic for this program either -- I'm 52 (there, I said it)... But you've got to check Danny's show out - seriously... It's pretty funny and you've got to like the amount of swearing they get away with. Oh, and one more thing -- you've got to admit you get a lot more mileage when your morning celebrity visits go wrong than when they go right... (Exception -- Tracy Morgan -- that went well and it was still friggin' funny!)

After watching your bit with Danny and Charlie Day again, I don't think it was that bad -- lighten up kids. At least Danny wasn't visibly drunk!

I thought it was awkward because DeVito seemed drunk or something and he made himself look like an ass. You guys are way funnier than him, you should have given him a few more shots!
