Because I care about my coworkers

Today I woke up feeling awful.

I wake up at 2:45am Mon-Fri.

In general waking up at that time is an awful thing.

But this morning I felt a little extra awful.

I felt a little nauseous and congested.

I think I might be pregnant.

I'd call in sick...but it's 2:45am.

I don't want them to have to call Ramsey out of his local saloon and ask him to sober up quickly for a 5am show. (It's not going to happen.)

Anyway, when I got to the office today, I didn't feel any better.

So, I played HURT and was SMART about it!!!

I made the decision to stay quarantined in the weather office so as to not infect my coworkers.

I think this was a wise and noble gesture that shows a level of care, respect and love for humanity.

My hope is that WGN management here considers this as they seek to find their Employee of the Month for November. (How could they overlook this sacrificial contribution?)

I have always been an advocate of calling in sick regardless of my health...but today I played HURT!!!

I think it was good for company morale and I would like to be honored for it.

Anyway, let's see if my streak of 136 straight months of not winning Employee of the Month comes to an end with this generous act.

Bend at the knees,
Konrad

Paul, you think you might be pregnant. Now that's a story that will win awards for WGN!!

I've said before that you are a trooper, and you showed that today.

Why not start a petition around or take ads out in the trade papers and Trib & Sun Times. Bake some brownies and cookies and put on the desks of the powers that be--signing it. Run a video log from 2:45am to ? every day & drop them off in the powers' mail.

Here's one signature. You hold the show together. They can count on you to move from flower interviews to hanging in there with that neurotic clown/magician. Your quick wit & clever comments are too many. We have come to accept that as part of your weather.

Skilling doesn't have that talent, for sure.

Willingness to go and do where you are sent makes a good employee.

Never did tell Robin and you that you did a great job on coverint the Thanksgiving parade--as you two do with other parades.

You talk to the Mayor like you are neighbors and make him laugh.

I vote Paul K. as Nov. employee of the month

Paul, you have my vote (always) for employee of the month (and the year!!!!!!). You brave sacrifice of coming into work as sick as you are must be rewarded. I hope management appreciates all that you do for the morning show. We sure do.
Hope you feel better soon.
Gracie

Paul, have you ever considered calling in dead before? That might work. Also, has any of your other co-workers been employee of the month?
Kerry, Clarendon Hills

11/28--Thurs. Paul, I saw & heard you today. Sounds like you do have a cold or a bit down physically. Proof positive that you should be considered for Nov. Employee of the Month.

You get up at 2:45am? I think that in itself deserves employee of the month!!! You are one of the reasons I can finally drag myself out of bed at 5am!!! Thanks!! My vote is for you Paul Konrad!! Way to take one for the team!! Kerri H.

You should have just called in sick........

Paul, you are awesome. I think it was very generous of you to stay in quarantine until you had to go on, and very thoughtful.

When I was a kid I hated when my parents watched the news. It was the most painfully boring thing I had ever experienced in my short life. It put such a bad taste in my mouth that I had not watched news until I got into my late 20s and my wife turned on WGN. You bring just the right amount of something to keep me turning in every morning.

If you don't get employee of the month again, don't worry, the viewers appreciate you.

Oh yeah, I am really sorry, but the most hilarious thing I had ever seen on the news was when you were called into your bosses office when you were on the air. I'm sure it was not funny to you then, but I was chuckling about it for days.
