Randy Salerno
I came to WGN TV in 1994 and Randy Salerno sat me down, and shared valuable advice with me about the station, and working in Chicago. While Randy was an accomplished journalist, it is this selfless act of friendship that I will remember most.
After he left WGN, we were all still in contact with Randy. Paul and I went golfing with him and he had us laughing throughout the day.
It is awkward to be reporting his death, and yet because of his smart sense of humor, we also celebrate his life.
Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
We'll miss him.
We invite you to share your thoughts of Randy Salerno.

My sympathy to all of you who knew Randy as a friend. I adored him but was never fortunate enough to have met him. The news is surreal to me, to all of you it must be especially so. I'm so saddened, there just are no words for what a loss this is.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the Randy's death. It's hard to believe it really happened. My heart goes out to his family and co-workers both at Channel 2 and WGN. He left us much too soon. He will be missed.

i woke up to this news...and i am deeply saddened. i still remember when he and micah were anchoring and she could not pronounce sacajawea...i remember how much he leaned into her for that...and i still laugh about that. He was a great anchor and from the way he's described, a great friend. My condolences to his friends and family.

I was born and raised in Chicago. I have since relocated to Naples, FL. I was shocked when my Father informed me of Randy's passing. This is especially close to me since my Father now resides in Eagle River , WI. God Bless Randy's family along with his working family. May he rest in piece.

What I have always loved about W.G.N Morning news is the silly and light-hearted way that everyone on your end projects the news to us,the viewers. When Randy passed and it was announced on your news the true sadness in Robins and Larry's faces, and and how stunned you all seamed to be....just broke my heart.I am truely sorry for your loss

To all of Randy's family, co-workers, friends and his fans - may God help you during this very difficult time. Randy is right now looking down at us and probably making some big joke about how he can't believe we are all making such a fuss. May God also take care of Randy's great friend Scott and his faimly.
