Camp Warner

You may remember Robin and I recently had a debate on whether to send your kid to camp for the summer or not.

I asked your opinion and then I revealed my decision to keep Zoe(my 5 year old) home for the summer.

WELL, here's a report from week 3 of CAMP WARNER....

ALL IS WELL!

I'm shocked.
I thought for sure, I would have pulled out the little hair that I have on my head.

We have been very busy...keeping her brain sharp and having fun.
I'm very organized.
I have charts up around the house outlining our daily activities which include reading, snack time, arts and crafts, of course playtime, a summer enrichment program 3 days a week, tennis on Wednesdays, a field trip on Fridays and now she wants to swim.

So far so good!!!
But ask me in three weeks!.
I may be ready to jump into the Chicago River!

hi val, you metioned that you signed zoe up for tennis lessons on wednesdays. where? i live in south holland and would like to sign up my 7, almost 8 year old. thanks much for the info!!

Although i was not privy to the debate between you and Robin (i live in Atlanta since 2001, but i am a Chicago native), i wholeheartedly agree with you by NOT sending your daughter to camp. Even though i had a great camping experience in my youth (im 40 now) i wouldnt dream of sending my children away to camp and i didnt. The world is a different place than when i grew up and im not saying you can protect your child from everything, but God forbid if anything happens to my child i would rather it be on my watch. My kids are no longer kids anymore (23, 17, 16) and i did the same thing with them that you are doing with Zoe. We had a summer schedule including field trips, bike riding, swimming etc. and they absolutely loved it! Keep up the good work Valerie!

Hi Val,

I just want to tell you that I love seeing you on the news in the a m while getting my crew and self ready for work. I have just moved back to the Chicago area and I love your hair. I have been trying to find a beautician for too long now and no one has raised my brow. Do you have your own personal beautician that would be willing to have a new and faithful client? I hope to hear back from you soon.

Thanks and congrats on the new little one.

Hey Val,

You're making me want to move to Chicago to watch the morning news every day... I don't get it here in LA. Glad to see that you are doing well.. I also saw your family pic on the "when they were young" piece.. Look like your mom was my English teacher.. Anyway - Congrats on your success and you are making us very proud here in Southern California... Keep up the good work. We always knew you could do it...
