This image was captured on our WGN security cameras. We can't show the video yet, but we will on Monday (Dec. 22) during our "Voicemail" segment at 7:15!
Chicago is on 'winter storm watch' and WGN will have everything you need to know to make your morning commute easier! The Morning News starts at an earlier time especially for the snow coverage...so tune in tomorrow at 4:30am.
When I watch other news programs, I often reflect, in amazement, at the things I get away with on this show. Then, I wonder how in God's name I've convinced others to follow me down this path of degredation. The list of those whose reputations I've tarnished is long.

But the collection of humanity I assembled for my latest piece is so bizarre, I'm not sure I'll ever wrap my head around it.
Pat shows you the remains of a WGN Morning News holiday party...and shares what's planned for tomorrow's show! Tune in...
Santa seems to love my Cuban-style "frijoles negros" because we're flooded with calls at Old Havana Foods. It's gratifying to see how many folks are ordering from my new website. Thanks for stopping by. It seems like people are especially enjoying our legendary black beans dinner - because we're seeing repeat customers returning for more.
But if you're lookig to stoke the furnace, though, nothing keeps you warmer than my famous Chili Cubano! People go loco when they taste the tantilizing Old Havana flavor. It's delicious on a cold and snowy December night.
It's been fun to see the enthusiasm. Even the little Crews "elves" are helping us meet the heavy holiday demand. My daughter, Julia, and son, Tony, are helping out. And they're clearly enjoying the experience of watching this whole thing unfold. We're shipping out product all over Chicago and other parts of the country.
Many thanks to everyone! Feliz Navidad! And Happy Holidays! .
Pat and Paul take you on a little trip to the creative part of WGN. See where they take you...and find out what's good for tomorrow's Morning Show!
Paul has the goods on tomorrow's Morning Show...including an interview with Jamie Foxx! Plus...more icy weather expected, so tune in and find out what your morning commute is going to look like.
As part of our Old Havana grand opening special, we're celebrating Cuban history.
One of the most famous symbols of Havana is the centuries-old "Moro Castle," guarding the entrance to the harbor. In his new book, Havana: Autobiography of a City, journalist Alfredo Jose Estrada writes about the circumstances that led to the construction of the great fortress.
After suffering attacks at the hands of pirates, privateers and French Corsairs in the 1500's, Spanish settlers on the island of Cuba found themselves vulnerable to invasion. According to Estrada, when associates of pirate Francois Le Clerc (also known as Peg Leg) sacked and burned Havana to the ground in 1555, a Spanish royal decree laid the foundation for a new defensive strategy.
The Real Fuerza fortress was the first major Spanish attempt to guard Havana harbor. While it seems to have deterred Sir Francis Drake and his fearsome armada of twenty-two ships in 1586, the Spaniards still feared future attacks.
To fortify the Real Fuerza, Estrada writes, King Philip II ordered the construction of a new defensive structure in 1588. El Moro, a state-of-the-art fortress, would protect Havana for centuries.
"Designed by the celebrated Italian military architect, Giovanni Baptista Antonelli, [El Moro's] polygonal walls contain two landward bastions with a deep moat. The battery guarding the channel is known as Los Doce Apostoles (The 12 Apostles)."
Estrada says to this day, El Moro remains the most visible symbol of Havana. "It is to the city what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, or the Coliseum is to Rome, framed in countless postcards sent back to Barcelona, Chicago or Kiev."
Pat and Paul take their blog on the road to Blago's house. I wonder if Rahm is hanging out somewhere near by...
Paul wants to keep things interesting so he shows you some personal belongings that he keeps on his desk. Check out all his "cool" stuff...and make sure to tune in tomorrow for The Morning Show's Toy-Drive!
"Mamma Mia" gets 2 nominations and "The Dark Knight" only gets one? That says it all about the 60 member Hollywood Foreign Press Association and their Golden Globe nominations. Shocking! Heath Legder deserves to be nominated (and win)...but for the picture not to get a best picture nod is a joke. Here's complete list....the awards will be annoucned on January 11th.

Week one of the family dream. In case you didn't hear, I launched www.OldHavanaFoods.com and me and the Mrs. have been shipping out authentic, Cuban-style gourmet specialties to people across Chicago. It's been gratifying to see and hear people's reactions. Thanks for all your kind notes and words of encouragement.
As I work to streamline my supply chain, I'm also giving thought to how we'll celebrate Christmas at the Crews household. Given everything that's been going on, I think it's appropriate that we enjoy an Old Havana holiday season.
Traditionally, Cuban families serve seasoned pork loin and "frijoles negros" (black beans) for the feast of the "Noche Buena." Noche Buena (Good Night) is Christmas Eve. Being the night owls that we are, many Cubans stay up until midnight Christmas Eve ... to officially usher in Christmas Day. Growing up as a kid in Miami, Florida, we'd open presents the instant the clock struck 12. We'd stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning before going to bed.
Because I'm an early riser (with my WGN Morning News shift begining at 3:30 every morning) .... don't know if I can stay up that late. But given the significance of what's happened this year - with the launch of Old Havana foods - I feel compelled to have a Cuban-style "Noche Buena." Feliz Navidad!
For today's promo...day 2 of Paul and his personal web cam! Find out all the excitement in store for tomorrow's show, in this web exclusive.
Paul Konrad previews what's on tomorrow on the WGN Morning News -- webcam style!
(Chicago) - I can hardly believe it, but www.OldHavanaFoods.com is officially open for business. We went "LIVE" late Saturday afternoon and almost immediately started getting orders from across the country. Within the first 48 hours we recieved 30 orders. So I'm gratified to see people enjoying our authentic Cubana-style specialties.
Thanks to all of you who ordered my family's famous "frijoles negros" (Black Beans) or Chili Cubano. Please let me know what you think. Look forward to hearing from you. Buen provecho!
For today's promo, Pat and Paul sing a duet and do a little jig for you! Hear what song they're singing...and find out the goods in tomorrow's Morning Show.

Pat & Paul come to you from a special location. Find out where they are...and all the goods on Monday's Morning Show!
I admire people who ride their bikes instead of driving. I could never do this, at least not exclusively. I'm too lazy, too sensitive to the cold, and too hurried to spare an extra 10 minutes to save on gas money . . . or the Earth.
But there is a portion of the cyclist population out there wreaking havoc. These bikers run traffic lights and 4-way intersections. They weave in and out of traffic. They go the wrong way on one-way streets.
And they have got to go.

An illustration of how frustrating it can be to launch your own business. You're at the mercy of so many different factors. Got an e-mail yesterday afternoon from my website programmer ... that there are technical glitches he has to iron out. Bottom line is it'll force a delay in today's launch. Now ... www.oldhavanafoods.com is set to open Saturday, December 6th.
Can't wait for you guys to see the new website. It includes music, family pictures and stories (not to mention the food).

The web promo took a mini Thanksgiving break...but it's back! For today's web exclusive, Paul has all you need to know about tomorrow's show. So tune in and find out!
All the hard work leads to this fateful moment - the birth of Old Havana foods. Tomorrow (Tues., December 2nd ) is D-Day at the Crews household. It's hard to believe, but we're finally set to launch www.oldhavanafoods.com
When you log-on you'll see pictures of "Abuelo Julio" and hear original Cuban piano music. That's an old family recording of my late grandmother at the piano, Maria Hermenia Rivero de Pestana (Cubans use a lot of names for some reason).
She was a beautiful person and gifted musician and I wish she were alive today to see the family enterprise take flight. It's been a long-held dream to market the old recipes from Cuba.
Don't exactly know what to expect tomorrow. We're an internet-based specialty food company so our sales will come on-line. All hands are on deck (me and the wife). And we're ready to process orders. I'll let you know how things go.
And once again, thanks again for all the words of encouragement and support. And "Buen Provecho" (which is the Cuban way of saying, "Bon Apetit") !
