Terrible Traffic

This week, New Orleans area communters got some good news. It seems the never ending, road widening project on I-10 may be ahead of schedule. U.S. Transporation Secretary Mary Peters visited the construction zone on Friday. Louisiana transportation officials told her the job is 55% complete and it should be done by next September.

What are some of your traffic nightmare stories? Do you think the work will lessen the frustration and backups on the highway at the New Orleans-Jefferson Parish line?

ik:

Nightmares I got plenty, but here's a handy tip for folks who use I-610 to get from eastern New Orleans neighborhoods to JP. I discovered a handy exit that connects to much more than the sign claims. The last exit before 610 merges with I-10 West reads 'I-10 East,' but actually connects back to I-610 East, Canal and West End.

So when you see the gridlock backed up past the 10-610 merge, use that I-10 East exit to keep moving toward parts West.
