Homeless Explosion In New Orleans

I went to New Orleans City Hall this week to cover a story and was shocked at the number of homeless people now living across the street in Duncan Plaza. There are now about 25 tents set up and an additional 20 people living in the park's gazebo. The number of homeless people living under the interstate near Canal and Claiborne also appears to be growing by the day. The city is at a loss for what to do with these people. The NOPD admits it is not enforcing the city's public habitation law because there is simply nowhere to place the homeless.

Do you think the homeless problem is getting out of hand? Should the city clear Duncan Plaza?

CR:

Yes, a place to live is important, but also a job is important. The city should be helping the homeless find a job, so that way they can support them self instead of the city supporting them. There are so many jobs out there and yet why do the homeless people have no job. Get a job and then you wont be homeless.

i think the city should give some abandon properties to the homeless and have them lern and build it for there selves. get local bussiness involved like myself a local subcontractor and greenfoundation, home depot, who i give all my bussiness to. and abc has the biggest home improvement show.and come together and lead the horse to water
