Dillard takes Class 5A basketball championship

Dillard rallied from seven point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Lakewood 61-55 for the boys' Class 5A basketball championship at The Lakeland Center on Friday night.

Dillard's fifth championship makes them the ninth team in state history to win five or more state titles in boys' basketball. All five of the Panthers (29-2) championships have come this decade. They won four straight Class 6A championships from 2000-03.

Senior forward Bo Reliford keyed the Panthers rally with 21 points and nine rebounds. Reliford, who had 42 points in two games, was named the 5A tournament Most Valuable Player. Robert Burger added 12 points and Kore White six points and nine rebounds. White and Javier Frazier were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Dillard outscored Lakewood 23-12 in the final quarter.
