E-mails from Amalgamated Transit Union members are being forwarded all around showing they are very happy with their pension refunds -- some will get $10,000 back.
The Executive Board along with all the members of ATU local 726 would like to publicly thank Roger for negotiating a contract that has proven to be the best contract in recent years. Our members are enjoying the raises , benefits and now the pension refund that Roger negotiated in December 2005. The only reason that both ATU locals were able to vote on this contract is because Roger refused to leave the bargaining table without the same contract being offered to us. Our membership will NEVER forget this. We look forward to working with TWU Local 100 in the future.
Thank you Roger!
and another
Folks,
As a lead participant for ATU I must again publicly thank TWU leaders, Roger, Ed and Darlene and all Local 100 members for standing with us and remind everyone that it was our solidarity that produced this pension deal.
Roger essentially forced the MTA to offer the same terms at the same time to ATU as were offered to TWU. Our members, unburdened by wacky, irresponsible anti-contract politicos, voted by huge margins to ratify the deal.
As always, I offer any support we can provide to our brothers and sisters in TWU to get your deal done. I have little doubt that in a few months TWU will have huge power in Albany again. There will be a new governor and two things are obvious: 1) He loves Roger, and 2) He will clean house at the MTA.
Bye Barry!
Local 100 members are unfortunate victims of politics. Stay strong---it won't be long!
