Iraq and domestic politics

april10chancolor-copy.gif

You'd have to be a little off to want to be President at a time like this. Fortunately, there are a lot of unrestrained egos out there. It's not hard to see the cynical plot developing on the part of the Republicans. Stay the course in Iraq that has no defined ending. Put up some doddering warhorse like McCain who will go down in flames like Bob Dole before him, and leave the impossible choices to the Democrats, who will have gotten elected on the promise that they would clean things up. The resulting chaos in the Middle East and high gas prices will guarantee G.O.P. electoral victories for decades to come.

What a horrifying - and unfortunately insightfully true - comment.

That's certainly possible. We can see a GOP resurgence in 2010-2012 as a result of Democratic blunders. It will all be on them, since they will be controlling the White House, and the Congress will almost certainly become more Democratic, even if McCain comes out.

But it can also go the other way. The Republicans may be shut out of power for the next 10 years, as a result of their blunders. They will have to do much to get their power back.

Whatever happen to the days where the people of this county were what politics fought for. NOw its just about how to get rich and stay rich.

It's a shame this country does not have a party that is looking out for its best interest.

Chan, i got an idea for you. Uncle Sam in a tropical island relaxing while a donkey and elephant fight for a dollar.

if things keep up i might just retire to that little island.

"It's not hard to see the cynical plot developing"

Are you kidding me? This leftist conspiracy theory garbage is so incredibly tiresome.

Hey, Chan. Viet Nam vet here. We lost that one. Big, Fat, Hairy Deal. "Americans" are so bloated with their self importance. I learned most of the world does not have cable, two car garages, soccer practice. They have (if really lucky) a water buffalo, a small chunk of land, and a daughter or son who isn't pimping or pushing for the G.I.. We corrupt where ever we go. We make people hate us, then wonder why they don't embrace us and democracy. Well, duh.
