Flashback Five Friday

may03chan-copy.gif

While I'm away from the blog this week, I'm posting some cartoons I drew exactly five years ago, when the Iraq war was in its infancy, so you can see how the world has changed or not changed in the meantime. I thought the exercise in armchair quarterbacking might be informative.

This was drawn back when a majority of Americans still felt we had done the right thing to invade. Bush still had stratospheric approval ratings, but we were beginning to wonder what happened to the stated excuse for the war, that being the weapons of mass destruction.

Ends up not even the oil part worked out ... and this is how the Republicans are strong on defense?

Really? How'd the cry "no blood for oil" work out? Bet you're wishing about now it HAD been for oil, eh?

And it has been 7 years since a terrorist attack. How long had we gone between them before invading Iraq and Afganistan?

Oh, please. This president is a buffoon. Whoever believes anything this guy says is either delusional or on drugs.

Yes, it IS about oil. Checked the price of gasoline lately? Bush has ALWAYS been about taking care of his cronies and nobody else. And guess who pays for it? We BOTH do.

I'm sure he's glad to have your continued support. Sucker.

Chan, your cartoon is as relevant today as when you first penned it. Kudos!
