Florida 2008 hurricane season prep

There is a school of thought (to which I do not subscribe) which holds that we are already loaded up with supplies from last year, and that is why nobody is doing anything to get ready.
I prefer to think of it as good old-fashioned Florida memory loss. The lines at the home centers right before the next hurricane will make waiting for the Early Bird Special look like a picnic by comparison.

How about doing a comic strip about the launching in Nasa fuels the shuttle discovery. Like connecting the shuttle to several gas oil rigs, to make sure it does not run out of gas on the way to space.

With reports that storm frequency and severity is increasing, I'd be loading up on supplies as we speak

Like California residents are ready for wildfires? We have days to prepare for a hurricane, we get in our cars and move north. Pick up the pieces when we get home.

Hmm - I have a generator (tested Saturday), transfer switch, 60 gallons of gas, Dade county certified shutters, and two weeks of food and water, and trimmed trees as of right now. What, exactly, do you, or this unidentified school of thought think I need to do that's not already done ? Get ready once with the major stuff, and maintain readiness on the smaller items, and there is zero need to head out anywhere before or during hurricane season except to maybe top off your vehicles tank. Don't be such a left leaning weenie, Chad.
