What happens when Floridians' notorious independent streak (just check out our gun laws) bumps up against localities' bright idea to raise revenue in tough times by paying commercial outfits to install traffic cameras and collect fines automatically?
Toss in a dollop of our legendary road rage, and Big Brother comes down with a case of lead poisoning.

Chan's cartoon today is a cheap "shot" at those who own firearms and have a concealed weapon permit. The Castle Doctrine allows owners of firearms to protect themselves from being victims of crime. In addition, FL has both reasonable and logical firearm regulations.

"Cheap Shot" is exactly the description of this cartoon. The fact is that every concealed-permit holder has had a background check before the permit was issued -- which means he/she has passed high standards and is LESS likely to shoot at a traffic camera than your average citizen. Less than 1/2 of 1% of permit-holders ever use their weapon in a improper manner.

True David, a fact the rabid anti-firearms crowd overlooks....much like the thousands of legally owned firearms that stop crime every year. How often do THOSE incidents make the headlines?

Wait... we had traffic cameras for almost a year now and people carrying concealed for 23 years. Any recorded case of a camera being shot or is Mr Lowe projecting his prejudices in the cartoon?
