Debbie Wasserman Schultz...one tough character

Sometimes the role of the editorial cartoonist involves more than finding fault or poking fun. Sometimes his role is to channel what the community feels.

Political views aside, it would be hard not to have anything but respect for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who not only battled and beat breast cancer, but did so without missing a day of work. As befits her character, she is now using her experience to aid in passing legislation that will increase breast cancer awareness among young women.

Ms. Wasserman Schultz is an unabashed progressive. I remember decades ago, when she first made her mark in the legislature by pushing for dry cleaning parity for women's blouses, which for some reason incurred a higher charge because they buttoned left-to-right. It sounded silly at the time, and was ridiculed both by her colleagues and the media, but she stuck to it and gained a lot of credibility in the process as a crusader. She knew that small things mattered to her constituents.

Well, this is a big thing, and it looks like she has attacked it with the same determination that has become her hallmark, and that has helped catapult her to a leadership position in the U.S. House.

We all wish her good fortune in her life and endeavors.

I agree Chad. Debbie Wasserman Shultz is one tough woman and she deserves recognition for usefully using her intuition and position in response to the needs of her constituents. Right beside Wonder Woman and Rosie the Riveter. Thanks for the sincere and heartwarming humor - right on!

If all you have as an accomplishment is a fight in disparity of dry cleaning prices, that boils down to a urine poor account of her stay in Congress.. somehow Chad, I read a little sarcasm in your peice.Your sentence,"Ms. Wasserman Schultz is an unabashed progressive". in case you havent heard? Progressive is a dirty word for many of us.

Wasserman-Schultz is an abrasive, condescending, progressive who believes in big government, higher taxes and the nanny state. I hope she is not re-elected so she can go find a real job and stop being Nancy Pelosi's "do-girl."

Debbie is a hero to many of us, and has championed much legislation tyhsat has saved lives. Everytime a child doesnt drown locally because theres a fence between the kid and the pool, thank her!

Its a shame that so many hard working productive citizens have this pinhead as their representative. If Debbie had to find a real job in the real world she would likely flounder. The more she speaks the more clearly she exposes herself as a clueless talking head.

Debbie is what we should want in our elected officials, whether you agree with her philosopical stand or not, she works hard, she knows her issues, she actaully represents her constituents, she is one smart lady. It amazes me that Republicans always call females (even R women they do it to their own all the time)with independent thoughts, "shrill",
"Abrasive" and even worse names. They are frightened by her. Debbie, to heck with them. I admire you and I am confident that you at least know the issues. Keep on being you.
