Take Your Child To Work Day

line3.gif
CAPTION CONTEST UPDATE: SUBMISSION PERIOD CLOSES SUNDAY NIGHT AT 6PM EASTERN TIME! ONLY FOUR DAYS LEFT TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY!

This cartoon idea seemed like a natural under the circumstances. If Take Your Child To Work Day is supposed to teach kids about the reality of the workplace, they might as well learn that the term, “pink slip,” like, “green card,” is just a figure of speech.

In reality, it’s an icy smile from some HR type who knows he or she still has a job as long as there are people left to fire, and maybe a security guard who escorts you out just in case you turn psycho and try to firebomb your computer.

Maybe, if you’re like the young Vito Corleone in The Godfather II, your erstwhile boss catches up with you in the street with a basket containing a loaf of bread and a salami.

How sad that things have come to this.

Look at it this way, it's better to receive the "stimulus" than to pay for it.

Chan,

You hit a raw nerve with - “Take a child to work day 2009,“ Friday, USA TODAY - when unemployment is increasing weekly with no end in sight. We’ll get a true measure what the auto industry means to the nation’s economy and employment when GM shuts down operations at 13 assembly plants in North America for as long as 13 weeks this summer."
In 1938, FDR said: “Not only our future economic soundness but the very soundness of our democratic instutions depends on the determination of our Government to give employment to idle men."

i always enjoy your cartoons even when i don't agree with you..the one with unemployment however, is great..hits the spot

Will my child be able to pick up a check, too?
