Chan Lowe cartoon: The last homeowner in America

When the value of your home plunges into the tank, you figure (as would any reasonable person) that at least there's a silver lining: your property taxes will go down. After all, it's only fair, isn't it?
That's in a perfect world, where money grows on trees, milk and honey flow in the streets, roads, law enforcement, parks and libraries magically maintain themselves, and FPL says, "Don't worry about that streetlight bill--we know times are tough, so we'll just let'em burn out of the kindness of our hearts."

CHAN LOWE has been the Sun Sentinel’s first and only editorial cartoonist for the past twenty-six years. Before that, he worked as cartoonist and writer for the Oklahoma City Times and the Shawnee (OK) News-Star.

I noticed that my home value declined by 20%, but my tax bill went UP 10%.
I can understand it staying level, but where did they incur 10% more in expenses?
Suspicious, and if we the people had any power left in this country, we could do something about it.

All these liberal programs cost money, where do you think it's going to come from? It's easy to want to help everyone until you get the bill.

The unreasonableness of skewing the tax tables to subsidize "Save Our Homes" values/assessments is coming home to roost.
The SOH's just weren't paying attention when it was someone else who was paying through the nose.
No 'e pluribis unum' now, because of the 'We prefer to screw-em' from before.

Well the major reason for decline in economy is the mortgage plans offered in US for home owners. That is a good way to make understand by using cartoons. The Phrase "The last homeowner in America" is just representing the fact that all the people is under debt or in fact all he homeowners ... Good Job!
