Gov. Charlie's shine starts to tarnish

roth.gifOf all the office walls in all the world, Gov. Charlie's fifteen chummy photos have to show up on Scott Rothstein's.

Even our notoriously Teflon-coated governor may have a hard time slithering out of this one, although one of my editorial board colleagues insists that there is virtually nothing that will keep him out of the U.S. Senate seat currently being warmed for him.

Still, the double-talking will be fun to watch. While Charlie is probably too dim to be that crooked--and just got burned like everybody else who allegedly fell under Rothstein's spell--photos like these (and this cartoon is based on a real one--Charlie's birthday party) are a potent reinforcement of the kind of simplistic connections that resonate with the average voter.

Let's sit back with our popcorn and watch what Marco Rubio makes of all this.

Wait. Everyone at the paper thinks Charlie will win? Do you know something about a backroom deal to get Rubio to withdraw from the primary or something? The only people who vote in primaries are extremist partisan morons (otherwise known as "the base"), why would any of them vote for a tree hugging populist pretending to be a partisan moron when they could vote for an actual partisan moron instead? How do you think Washington got to be so divisive?

Yes, it will affect Crist as much as Obama's relationships with Ayers and Wright.

Crist is a typical lying Republican (sorry for the redundancy).

I see, guilt by association. But I guess it was OK that Obreshnev's career started in the home of the TERRORIST Bill Ayers. That he was shepherded by a racist pastor, Wright. His friendship with Farrakhan. The fact he served on a board with a suspected terrorist, Rashid Khalidi. That's all ok and doesn't matter.....

Although Rothstein gave huge sums of (other people's) money to Crist and McCain, threw fund raisers for them at his mansion(that he bought with stolen funds) and, apparently, is still a great friend of Gov. Fluffy's, Right Wingnuts rant about the President. Where is their outrage at the Republican scum-suckers? Their mantra always has been "condemn the Dems, look the other way for Reps." Chucky boy is now trying to say he didn't endorse the stimulus bill! Sorry, Charlie tuna, the Waffle House ain't hiring today, or on election day!
