Open carry meets caffeine

barista.gifMaybe what Jefferson should have said was, “Occasionally the tree of Liberty must be watered with the iced latte of Patriots and Tyrants.”

Starbuck’s does seem an odd place to be exercising one’s inalienable right to openly tote a pistola into a public place, as some activists are doing in states where this is allowed.

Why Starbuck’s? Is the company associated with those hippy-dippy tree-hugging Northwest collectivists, just because the little insulation bands around its cups are made out of recycled paper? Maybe they use fluoridated water in their brew.

And why has open-carry suddenly become so chic? My guess is that strapping on a gun is a concrete way to resist that cottony, bloblike government encroachment that many people feel, but can’t quite get their trigger finger around.

Certain folks sense the incremental attacks on their liberty more acutely than others, the way some feel great pain from a pinprick while others hardly miss a step.

I don't have a beef with the government, but as long as I don’t get between the sharpshooters and the barista when they decide they’ve been shortchanged, I say let them safeguard my liberties if they want to.

Personally, I prefer decaf. The regular stuff sucks. :) But I do prefer to pack my .45. At least here in Michigan, my pistol doesn't have be be unloaded.

MAYBE LOWE DOESNT KNOW THAT IN FLORIDA ONE CAN ONLY CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON, AND HAVE A LICENSE TO DO THAT TO...TELL HIM TO CALL A COP NEXT TIME HE SEES TROUBLE....

The gun nuts always misintrepret the 2nd amendment to their liking. They don't generally come across as too literate and don't seem like the type to be in a starbucks anyway. But since starbucks allows its customers to carry guns into their stores, I will stay out of the stores.

THIS MIGHT HELP THE UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM..STARBUCKS WILL NOW HIRE "GUNISTA'S FOR SECURITY..."TEAISTA'S" FOR TEA PARTIES NEXT.?

Here in MN ours don't have to be concealed or unloded either.
Chan, your cartoon is racist and stereotypical.
Typical opinion from a left winger though...

CHUKAROOSTER
HERE IN FL.YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE CONCEALED OR UNLOADED---"TO SHOOT YOUR MOUTH OFF." TYPICAL OPINION FROM A RIGHT WINGER THOUGH.

P.S. TO-CHUCKAROOSTER,
ON SECOND THOUGHT-YOU CAN BE LOADED IN FL...JUST DON'T GET CAUGHT DRIVING THAT WAY..CAN ALSO BE CONCEALED,(HIDE BEHIND A SCREEN NAME)USE SPELL CHECK NEXT TIME.!!!

Here we go again. Going after gun owners for doing the same thing Chan does every day for money. Practicing their Constitutional rights. In this case the 2nd Amendment. Chan, have you even read the Constitution and the Bill of Rights or can you not comprehend those 27 words that create one of the most important sentences in the Constitution.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

It’s not that complicated. Those on the Left like to believe that they are so much smarter than those on the Right, yet they can’t seem to understand a simple little sentence. The big difference between the Left and the Right is that the Right believes in the entire document for everyone, we don’t pick and choose which ones we want and tell you that you can’t have the others.

I am a gun owner and I have a permit to carry a concealed firearm. That means I had to voluntarily supply my fingerprints to the state and pay $117.00 to practice my God given right. How much do you have to pay Chan? I know lots of people who carry a firearm on a daily basis, doctors, lawyers, salesmen, and even truck drivers and construction workers and they all have one thing in common. They all understand how important the 2nd Amendment is.

All Starbucks is doing is obeying the law of the state they are in, yet they are evil for doing so, according to you and those on the Left. There are plenty of places who chose to restrict law abiding citizens from doing the same thing, thereby violating ones 2nd Amendment right and I’m sure you see nothing wrong with that. But you look down on us as unintelligent.

The media likes to print all these terrifying scenarios about how dangerous it is to allow people to practice this God given right. “Blood in the streets”,” the wild, wild west”, as this cartoon so predictably represents, and yet it hasn’t happened. Criminals will continue to carry guns no matter what the law says (they are, after all, criminals), and I will continue to carry mine no matter what you or the law says. So if the law is changed and my permit is revoked, then I will be forced to perpetrate another stereotype, “If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have guns”.

Pointman 870,

There you go again. I'm sure that your point of view has merit, but once again it gets lost in your need to attack Lowe. Debate his arguments by all means. But when you go after him personally, I believe that you dilute whatever point you're trying to make.

Wagner the loser. Turn of your freekin caps lock...
I was born in Florida and moved out 27 years ago because of jerks like you. Damn Yankees...

"The big difference between the Left and the Right is that the Right believes in the entire document for everyone, we don’t pick and choose which ones we want and tell you that you can’t have the others."

Hmmm, lets look at some situations where the Right ignores that document:

1. Flag burning laws, directly going against the right to protest.

2. Anti-abortion laws, directly going against freedom of choice.

3. Repression of a comic artist, directly going against freedom of speech.

4. Wire-tapping without a judge's signature, directly going against a whole CHUNK of the constitution.

5. Attacking the ACLU, whose existence is specifically there to SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTION, even if it means defending Rush Limbaugh.

Please don't pretend the right supports the whole constitution when they ignore the majority of it when it suits their purposes.

So, chuckarooster, you hate Yankees, so you moved out of the south and went to the NORTH?

Real man of genius, NOT!

I'll take my chances with an armed population of mostly law-abiding citizens (I realize not every one is a saint), vs. relying on the police to protect my property, family and me. If you have a carry permit, you should be able to do just that.
