Animation: High gas prices

High gas prices have Americans screaming for HELP!

true so true, sad but true

Sad but true.

....I am walking....

French revolution? let them eat cake? It all sounds so familiar.
desperation will set in on the population

ALL YOU LONG ISLAND WMAON MINIVAN DRIVERS AND MALE V12 TRUCK DRIVERS ARE GETTING WHAT YOU DESERVE.. SHOVE THOSE HORNS UP YOUR ASSES TOO

Let the prices rise further and then the excesses that we have become accustomed to will be pared back. Sorry for the little guy who's getting truly burned, but the biggest complainers are the ones who actually CAN afford it.

Momma don't need no Hummer to go to the supermarket and shuttle the kiddies around. And daddy don't need no 4 door diesel pick'em up for hauling his sorry a$$ around either. It's time for a reality check here.

And don't forget the Europeans are paying anywhere from 2 to 3 times what we are. Don't bring up the Arabs because IT'S THEIR OIL!

And interestingly enough, in todays NY Times is an article on how the oil companies are actually starting to see a fall in profits as well as potential losses due to a drop in demand.

The solution is simple Stay home this Summer! Let the resorts hotels and restaurants suffer. When they complain to their government representatives that they're going broke maybe someone will listen.

I think we should take to the streets and raid the oil companies headquarters and hang the oil executives in the streets to send a clear message to these people and while we are at it, take the govt down because it has become a bloated monster.

Still cheaper in US than anywhere else - price in BC for the lowest grade is an average of $1.35 a litre, which is approximately $5.40 a gallon... and the oil companies are having record profits this year...

am in michigan the STATE of unemployment and the CAPITAL of 'for sale houses'....only use gas to make 14 trips to work a week (split shift) no vacations, no grocerys, no extras. can hardly afford to get to my job! thanks enron, thanks mr. bush. may be out of a job if i cant get there! what if everyone took the same 2 days off in the USA? and spent no $$ on ga$$, it would send a message! but, these arent the 60's, sigh! no one protests loudly, like that anymore, to bad, we moved the country then :) bush wouldnt know, he opted out early from stateside reserves vs ACTIVE vietnam service. so he has no idea of reality. other than a suit to wear to foreign dinners. our so called government supports the FAT CATS at enron who donate (bribe) funds to the prez's campain, so what do they care, it isnt like the PREZ and his family, are filling up their personal cars.

Bunch of whiney libs. You rather see the fall of our country and Americans suffer. Why are you guys complaining? Your friends Hugo and Almaj are finally getting their money or is it Kim II or Fidel not reaping the rewards. Just a reminder Enron is gone just a remnant remains and the fat cats there are either dead or in jail. Bush said we are addicted to oil, but we won't drill. He promoted fuel cell and hybrids but the Japanese are ahead of us on this one. How many solar panels do you need to power your vehicle or house? We would rather cut down forest and remove food from the tables. Finally America is getting what it deserves? A harder life, loss of jobs, and is this what you wanted. How about no Ipods, computers, microwaves, and aircondition. Just cut back and be innovative instead of the screw america attitude.

Gas prices in Jacksonville, Florida and its suburbs it is 3.78 a gallon and it is not built like New York with the Long Island Railroad, gas guzzling suvs are everywhere, even at my local high school. We need to use alternative fuels but with George Bush in the White House it will not happen the earliest it could get funding is in the year of 2009. Sadly George W. Bush put more into the economy that it could even handle like he is funding junk, No Child Left Behind, Florida's GOP governet Charlie Crist cut school taxes and florida spents the least except one other state and the schools have a really good education system, there is tax breaks for the oil companies which obviously if that got spent on renewable energy it would had got farther in the last 8 years. Iraqs funding is getting closer to the amount of money we spent on World War II, The Economy has got way out of hand and this country really has to cut spending on junk and listen to the citizens of the United States. gas averaged 1.40's when George took office, now it could be 4 dollars for regular in the next couple weeks nationwide and some pumps cannot even fill up the whole gas tank

We need to change the way we operate i this country. The fuel prices need to rise further before this will happen. We consume a termendous amount - this needs to change.

You do not have a right to a huge SUV - you do not need an SUV to haul your children to school; we have big yellow things for that - school busses.

Quit whining, buy more fuel efficient vehicles. Walk more. Buy a bicycle.

Stop consuming so durn much - the planets supply of oil is finite. Quit blaming the oil companies - buy less fuel - walk, buy a bike, buy a more efficient car.

reply beekepper:
No I do not have an SUV, I have a 1998 volvo sedan that gets 23-25 miles to a gallon, and next year i am going to be a senior and the yellow bus is not there and the school is 8 miles away from my house and it is over the intercoastal waterway but the speed limits are higher in florida with less lights where i live which means $5 , $7, $10 I will have to pay. We are getting closer and closer to the Europe Prices of 7-8 dollars a gallon and they are complaing but America was built on DIRT CHEAP GASOLINE. I agree our country needs to stop winning and the problem is that this country was built to drive your car and "BAD HABITS DIE HARD" so the country has to change fast to react which means we are in stagflation instead of inflation," everything goes up but pay stays the same."

The oil profits may be 'record' but the percentage is the same -- they take it from the ground, transport it, refine it, transport again and you buy it -- they make 29-33 cents a gallon --YOUR STATE AND LOCAL GOV'TS DO NOTHING AND ADD THAT AND MORE ONTO THE PRICE!!! at LEAST the oil companies EARN their money... Albany is the problem! Washington is the problem! Your easy philosophies show no knowledge of economics or the futures market. ..and yet , you VOTE!

The price in the UK is now over $10 per gallon and rising! You have no idea in the USA how lucky you are.....a lot of people have been making these predictions over the years but no-one in power was prepared to listen - either side of the Atlantic. Instead of making lifestyle choices voluntarily, more and more people are now going to be forced to change. Oil is a finite resource - take note folks.

Hilarius, but there is truth in every joke.

The gas issue is affecting everyone. The gov't needs to step in before it gets worse. People are struggling as it is in this economy and we are in a recession. I am considering leaving my SUV at home and commuting to work by the LIRR and bus to save money. $75.00 to fill up a week vs. $105.00 a month to ride the LIRR with a monthly train pass. That would save me about $200.00 a month. If gas keeps going up then LIRR HERE I COME!!!!

I think we need to take a stand and boycott gas everyother day. This will hurt the oil companys and show that we can take a stand. This is out of control and the gov't is just sitting on this. The economy is going to be in more trouble then it already is if this continues!!!!

Hey, Can anyone tell me which oil company has the largest reserve of oil? I thought you couldn't because, the oil companies don't. The hedge funds do and until recently, Goldman Sachs owned that distinction, and may still hold it.
We've witnessed an extrordinary change in the oil industry; mergers, reduced refining, closing out of independent retailers, and billions of $ made on the commodities market.
Remember when there was an Exxon and a Mobil? They merged and what happens in the natural couse when two companies merge? Redundant operations cease... Think of refining capacity. How about the control of the delivery system from start to finish? Haven't you seen the closing of man many gas stations in your community... I have. Oil companies tell us they cant refine enough gasoline due to not enought refineries. "The ecologists are making it too costly to build them." My answer to them is, If you directed less than 10% of your record profits and yes they are not in line with previous profit rates. They have doubled percentage wise, not only in dollar amounts. 2007 was 40% more profitable than 2006 which was 50% more profitable than 2005... Get the numbers. With that 10% of profits, remember Exxon Mobil made almost 20 billion the first quarter of 2008, you could increase refining capacity and please the ecologists at the same time.
Let's look at where the profits have been coming from, it is said they come from sales of oil from the drilling operations. That's right, the drilling arm sells the oil they already own on the open market and the refining arm buys it at the higher prices and passes the cost to me and you. Sweet deal eh.
What everyone has said about being addicted to oil and we shouldn't be driving these big SUVs and conserving more is true but we were advertised to death about the greatnes of these behemoths.
Our government should really take a look at the way oil is drilled, sold, and the commodities market principal. We aren't seeing market forces in actiopn, rather the whole structure seems to be rigged against Joe Public. We all know that these are bad times for the general public, but if crude oil is so expensive, why are there so many oil companies and hedge funds making 100s of millions a day on oil. If it weren't fixed wouldn't the oil companies fell the pinch too? I don't begrudge the dollar amount of profit as much as the rise in percentage of profit. If the market was fair Big Oil could make profits of $100 million per day, with the rise of sales, Big Oil has a right to make a profit on sales, but not to price gouge through a rigged market. Gee, $20 billion on sales of $200 billion is a real and fair profit.
Our nation's energy policy needs to take aour strategic resource: Oli off the commodities market and look at Big Oil and the hedge fund's profiteering and soon.

as has been said further up the page, here in the U.K it's between $10 and $11 a gallon now, although our stinking goverment changed to pricing it in litres many years ago.

the problem we have over here is for every £1 of fuel you buy, the goverment get around 70p of this in tax. they charge a set rate of tax on a litre, then charge VAT @17.5% on top of that so we get taxed on the tax.

i long for the days we could fill up at $4 a gallon, U.K prices equivalent would be around 46p a litre instead of £1.20 which it is now. the last time it was 46p a litre was around 12 years ago!

I had the pleasure of hearing Walt speak at a recent Hofstra Educate '08 event.

His animation reminds me of a parody I wrote while in High School back in the mid 70's when there were gas lines to buy gas. Note the price of gas used then - makes one nostalgic, doesn't it?:

(Sung to Jingle Bells)

Chorus (repeat twice)
Gas won't pump, gas won't pump - all through the town!
Better get some gasoline before there's none around!

Driving through the town in an empty Chevrolet
Gas lines all around - what do the dealers say?
$1 for a gal of gas - the price is rather high!
You better get some gas-o-line...or kiss your gas goodbye!

Oh - oh,
Gas won't pump, gas won't pump - all through the town!
Better get some gasoline before there's none around!
Gas won't pump, gas won't pump - all through the town!
Too late to buy your gasoline - because there's none around!

Remember when the Bush administration gave you a tax break if you bought a Hummer? NO? Check it out.

Remember when Bush was photographed holding hands with Saudi Arabia's Prince Bandaar, during his first administration? NO? Check it out.

Remember, at the beginning of 2002, Cheney and big oil executives met in secret to formulate the US energy policy? NO? Check it out.

Remember when Cheney and other administration officials said that the oil from Iraq would pay for the war, so the US wouldn't be burdened? NO? Check it out. GOOGLE any of these questions.

And stop blaming the US public for the situation we're now in.

I would laugh if it wasn't true.

I think we should all buy ExonMobil stock and sit at home and live off the divided checks.

Nobody is talking about what it is going to cost to heat your home with #2 oil. I live in the north east and fill my oil tank (275 gallon tank) with about 230 gallons every 4 weeks during the winter. How can anybody afford this? The last price as of 5-21-08 was $4.39 COD!!! We need to boycott just the bestest oil company Exxon/Moblie. Buy gas from anybody but them and they will have to lower there price, because of no demand!

Currently the US Government has 150 years of reserve crude sitting in refineries all around the United States. How do I know this, because I have seen it, I used to do security for it. We, I would hope, will not need fossil fuels in 150 years, if the world is even standing. The government does have control of this but, if you look at it most of our politicians in the US government, they are connected with the oil industry in some shape or fashion. For the government to force the prices of oil down to a reasonable rate, it would take money out of their pocket, I can't see that happening. If the US Government, cared for the people they work for in the first place, they would flood the market with oil and force the prices down for oil from foreign countries.

Our government also needs to look seriously into telling all these tree hugging environmentalists to take a flying kiss at our Red White and Blue @$$ and if they don't like the way we do business or run our country then get out and find something better. After they do this, then maybe we can start drilling our own oil and refining it ourselves. Or maybe we just need to fire all of our government employees/ supposed leadership and start all over again. We really have not had a good choice of anyone to put into office for the last 12 years. Let's not forget, as I think a lot of citizens have, the government works for us, the people. In any other job, if you fail to perform then you get fired.

I did laugh!

In response to those who feel that the current gas prices are totally due to the current administration or state governments, consider this. The price of crude oil from OPEC was under $30 per barrel when President George W. Bush took office and is now over $100 per barrel. On top of that, the current world demand has increased significantly, not just because of increased use in the United States (just look at how many low mileage SUVs, large vans, Hummers, etc. are on the road), but also because of significant increases in oil/gas usage in countries like China and India who have become more "westernized" in the last 8 years. Individuals can cut back on usage by travelling less for summer vacations (visit local attractions rather than driving far), taking public transportation (if available), walking or riding a bicycle for short trips instead of driving their cars/SUVs/vans, and reducing heating and air conditioning at home. The biggest problem I see is for truckers who have to bare the extremely high price of diesel fuel.

Has anyone thanked bill clinton for vetoing the drilling for oil in Anwar some 10 years ago. Just think, about now the oil would be flowing. This is all the doing of greedy speculators, incompetent politicians with no fore thought and over zealous environmentalist. Wasn't it a while ago that some businessmen and politicians were claiming that our gas prices were too low compared to the rest of the world. Well they got what they wanted. Damn them all.

Bush, is screwing the America people's before leaving office, he want's to get all the gas money, from his oil field, and make his Daddy proud of him.
When said, and done his Daddy, and him will be the wealth people on earth and screw the American people's here in the United State.
I still think he bought his second term in office, because he will be the worse President, that america ever had in office....

Just one thing left..... "Who in the hell elected him in for his second term anyhow, I know I sure in the hell didn't, because he didn't service in the miltary service at all, and he call's himself a proud America person, who is he kiddie here, I wasn't born yet...

A sinking ship of fools looking for a more comfortable deckchair. The curse is getting what you want, and not what you need! Walt Handelsman nails it on the head once again, for crying out loud! Our many thanks Walt!

Post Script,
Help me, help me, help me! Somebody? Anybody!!! We are now at that point in time! We need real solutions, not the worthless mantra of change, FDR type solutions are our only hope. Physically re-build America, development (individual mind) is the only name for peace!

Actually I find our current situation, including the history as Rye pointed out, disturbing. The Bush Admin has asked for our patriotism and trust. In return, we get bushwhacked into bushwah.

It is $3.95 where I am. Our economy is dying very quickly. It drops as it is in the summer, but to see paint stores, restaurants, small businesses close their doors is down right dispickable. $4.00 for a gallon of milk? Too bad the car doesn't run on it. When is this going to stop. I have written to the VP of the United States. To our Governor. This is crazy that no one is doing anything to try to control this. I am right now glad I didn't vote for Bush. I use public transportation to get to work. A 2 hour commute to go 12 miles, it reminds me of Suffolk County's bus system. But it is only a $1.15 trip. But because of the fuel prices, the county is looking to cut the bus routes, some completely and reduce the buses on the other routes. There goes my job. No one is spending any money. Oh, if you come into our county on vacation or business, do not come in on a Sunday and expect to take the bus from SW International in Oct, The 50 may not be there. It could be a $60.00 cab ride to go 10 miles.

OIl is traded in dollars worldwide. (Macroeconomics class) The dollar is worth less against other world currencies now, so OPEC isn't getting as much "bang for their buck" received per barrel. The same thing happened during the "Gas Crisis" of the 70's, when inflation and hoarding combined with an increased demand and a weak dollar to drive up prices. Adjusted for inflation, barrel prices hit $100 in the seventies.
The bottom line is that it isn't Bush, environmentalists or God, it's economics.
If we quit borrowing money to finance wars in the middle east, thereby driving up our debt and weakening the dollar, and if we quit using so damn much fuel for SUV's, family pickup trucks and 6000 square foot houses, we might be better off.

A return to a national 55mph speed limit is what is needed now.

Doing so will reduce our national fuel consumption rate by 20% or better. That alone willl cause fuel inventories to become overstocked, and then gas prices will drop.

We used 55mph to get OPEC's attention years ago, it worked then and it can work again now.

As an added bonus we will have safer highways, cleaner air and much more money in our wallets.

Gas price = Bush Sucks + Inflation + weak weak dollar (back to Bush) + Opec at 95% capacity + Commodity Investing and Spec in Oil Futures (Bush again) by large investment banks (Bush loop holes)

It is so funny that you all think that George Bush, whose family is in oil, is worried or even unhappy about the price of oil going up.
He just insured his family will be super rich FOREVER.
Amazing no one could put that together.

I THINK IT'S FUNNY THAT MOST OF YOU THINK THAT THIS OIL PROBLEM IS THE FAULT OR MANIPULATION OF JUST ONE MAN.....GEORGE BUSH. DO YOU THINK THAT HE SNAPS HIS FINGERS AND MOBIL, EXXON, SHELL, ETC. HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS? OR ARE THESE HIS FAMILY COMPANIES AS WELL? ANYTHING HE DOES HAS TO GO THRU DEMOCRATS AS WELL AS REPUBLICANS!!

Spare a thought for us Down Under where the price is $1.59 per Litre for petrol (gas) and $1.79 per Litre for diesel. It takes 4.5L to make an Imperial Gallon, so comparitively we are paying around $7 a Gallon. The Poms and Europeans are paying $2 per L ($9 per Gal) but they have such small distances to travel compared to Australia and the USA (eg the whole of the British Isles is 1/8th the size of the State of Queensland) and country people in particular are really feeing it. I live in the City of Brisbane and do over 25,000km (15,000mi) per year. The sad thing for us is we are such a small economy internationally and have no influence on the cost of oil; it is simply dictated to us. Puts a bit of a dampner on us baby boomers that want to travel our vast land in retirement!

I heard a congressman say yesterday - they found a large oil depsitory and that it would be better if the state with the investment [ private] sector did all the work - becuase if we leave it to governement, nothing will get done.

this coming from a senator who is part of the government problem is not helpful. All the talk about government is going to help with this problem is shot out the window in my opinion....

People want to blame the government or OPEC for their own stupidity. Look in the mirror fool. your to blame for this.
I like these higher gas prices, I feel vindicated for riding my bicycle for years while so many fools are trapped in their over sized SUV's. When I do drive it is in a super efficient Hyundai Accent (approx 35 mpg). All I have to say is HA HA HA! (while I speed past your lumbering mistake.)
Oh yeah, BTW I own stock in oil companies too!

How is it that the price of a barrel of oil has been going down, but the price at the pump has been going up?! (The price of oil was $135 last week and is now hovering around $124) The gas station buy my house was $4.25 yesterday afternoon and is now $4.35 as of this morning. This is absolutely ridiculous and someone needs to do something NOW before it get even worse. I own a Focus which gets decent gas mileage but it takes $50 to fill it up!

patrick,

Are you able to haul lumber on your motorcycle?

I don't work for a lumber company but I know one in town here that is trying to figure out how to turn a profit now with the gas prices affecting them. It is extremely expensive for them to operate their trucks. Having a thriving lumber company = help to our economy.

This isn't just about families buying large vehicles being the cause. I have a family of 6. What other size vehicle out there will fit us all in it? I'm quite happy with the size of my family and I'm quite happy with the size of our vehicles that fit us in them.

As a motorcycle rider, remember to show some respect to everyone on the road. Try thinking outside of yourself.

ah, the good ol' Beatles, it amazes me that any ol' 'mercial can be set to those songs and everyone just gets it.

as a former Democrat, all i can say is that there are many things that have contributed to this shock at the pump, least of which is oil prices per barrel.

Here are som big ones, take your pick:
1. constant need for big SUVs (i do agree that a family of 5 or more needs these, but a single person with a poodle doesnt, as any dog will fit into a Honda or Toyota)

2. bigger trucks (again same as #1, for jobs, and hauling stuff around, i see the point, but why does a single guy living in burbs need an F-150?)

3. "not in my backyard" mentality on manufacturing , wind mills, solar panels, etc.

4. lack of public education about pollution, too many confilicting theories.

5. lack of pressure on car manufacturers (espeically American) to produce better more fuel efficient cars

6. re-electing and keeping un-truthful president in White House even after his parties admittance that war was started for wrong reasons. impeachment anyone?

there are many more, but these here always jump out at me.

5.

Presidents come and they go. However, the senators, the congressmen and women are always re-elected. Etc- Ted Kenndy has to die to get him out of office. With Hillary loosing the shot for the president, she'll be re-elected back in New York. EVERYTHING has to pass though them. SO who are the A__ Holes?

I'm sharing this with friends and I hope they're still friends after I share it with them.

Want to do something about this problem, people?

Alaska has more oil and naural gas than Venezuela. YOUR Congress won't let development take place because of high pressure from "Environidiots" who care more for a swamp than your child's life. The Constitution is intended to protect the minority from the majority. Who is protecting the majority from the minority???

I have to join Patrick in laughing at these fools driving big SUV's and trucks. I use a motorcycle and get at least 50 MPG plus I get to use the HOV lane. I was doing this before gas sky rocketed. It used to cost me about $8 bucks to fill up (5 gal tank, but I always fill it when it hits 1 gal remaining) and go 200 miles (back when it was $2/gallon). Now it costs me $16 to do the same - this is no big deal. It won't be a big deal even when gas hits $10/gal (then it will cost me about $40 a fill up & go 200 miles). I will still spend way less in a month than those fools with the big vehicles do in just one fill up. Not to mention I save at least a 1/2 hour each way using the HOV lane. Think about that time: that's 5 hours/week times 52 weeks = 10.33 days per year I don't spend in traffic (nor spend on wasting fuel on idling). I drive by these fools everyday and laugh my ass off. I am an engineer so I could easily afford driving a big vehicle - I just don't see the point (and plus I like being frugal). If you don't like high gas prices change your habits - these prices are not going down ever. And, personally I don't want them to go down as it forces inevitable change (ie: hybrids, electric cars, less dependency on the Middle East, and so on). You can change your ways or they will be changed for you.

I JUST FEEL IF YOU OWN FORU OR FIVE AND AND ALL YOU KDS RUN HELTER SKELTER AND HAND THEM THE CREDIT CARD YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM TRY CAR POOLING OR TAKE YOUR KIDS THE THE 2O ACTIVITIES THAT THEY ARE IN BECAUSE YOU DID NOT DO THEM WHEN YOU WERE A KID ALSO CHANGE THE PEOPLE IN CONGRESS AND SENATE THAT HAVE BEEN THRER FOR JUST GETTING RICH AND NOT SOLVING ANY PROBLEMS JUST CREATING NEW ONES

Thank you for contacting me regarding your concerns with rising energy
costs. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

As you know, families and businesses across the 8th District and nation
are struggling to cope as the prices of gas and food continue to rise.
There are many different factors that cause high gas prices,
including reliance on foreign nations for crude oil, increased global demand
for petroleum, international conflicts and speculation in the energy
market. The current circumstances demonstrate how dependent our nation is
on foreign oil. Although there is no instant solution to this problem,
as a nation, we must take certain steps to become more energy
independent.

To become energy independent, I believe there are several key
components our county must embrace to ensure a strong national energy policy for
the future that will help reduce the pain everyone is feeling at the
pump and elsewhere. To get there, we need a mix of conservation,
alternative energy production, and greater use of the vast energy resources
that are available in our country. I support legislation that promotes
the use and creation of alternative energy sources but the reality is
we are going to need oil and natural gas for years to come. To offset
our dependence on foreign sources for these energy supplies, I think we
need to make policy changes in four areas:

Increase Domestic Exploration and Production of Oil and Natural Gas

It is crucial to explore and find out where all of our oil and gas
reserves are located across, but current policy doesn’t even allow
geologists to properly inventory all these reserves. Alaska is estimated to
have 11 billion to 13 billion barrels of oil which could fuel our
nation, but they are off limits.

The Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) is another great example. The OCS is
reported to have vast reserves of natural gas and oil, however we
prohibit ourselves from tapping these resources. While we sit idle, Cuba
is currently partnering with China to drill for oil just 50 miles off
the Florida coast. China is, in effect, using our resources while our
hands are tied.

Increase and Expand Refinery Capacity

The fact is, you can’t fill your car or truck with raw crude oil. It
has to be refined into gasoline or diesel. Even when the supply of
crude oil is plentiful, we experience bottlenecks (and ultimately higher
prices) in our gasoline supply due to lack of refining capacity.
Despite the fact that demand for gas and diesel has skyrocketed in the past
30 years, we haven’t built a new refinery in this country since the
1970s (however, we have lost several during that time). We need to
streamline the refinery construction process and encourage more refinery
capacity in this nation.

Emphasis on Coal Gasification and Clean Coal Technologies

Coal is the United States’ most abundant energy source. We have more
reserves of coal than Saudi Arabia has of oil. During the energy
crisis of the 1970s, the U.S. government promoted research projects to
produce gas and liquid fuel from coal. But those efforts were abandoned
after the crisis passed. Record-high prices for petroleum products have
prompted a new wave of interest in technologies to turn coal into natural
gas and liquid fuel, however, we are seeing new legislative roadblocks
to using this abundant source of energy. Once again, our hands are
tied while new and existing technology holds the promise of producing
cleaner fuel out of coal, which is abundant and affordable.

Expansion of Nuclear Energy

Nuclear energy is safe, clean and abundant, and today’s technology is
making this form of energy even more efficient. The barriers to
expanding the use of this energy are fundamentally rooted in politics and
misconceptions of the past. Basically, the lawmakers haven’t caught up
with the scientists while they let false perception dictate policy
decisions rather facts. Nuclear energy has been safely providing about 20
percent of the electricity in this nation, and I feel we should be
doing more.

I am pleased to inform you that I am an original cosponsor of a bill
that is sponsored by Rep. Steve Buyer (IN-4), which encompasses many of
these underlying principles mentioned above that will help our county
achieve energy independence. The Main Street USA Energy Independence
Security Act, H.R. 6001, provides guidance to set America on a course to
become less reliant on foreign energy and provide incentives for
exploration and energy access here at home.

In addition to the provisions above, this legislation will also provide
a three-year production tax credit extension for renewable energies,
such as wind, solar, biofuels, efficiency improvements and plug-in
hybrid vehicles; and invest in research and development for cellulosic
ethanol.

I will be pushing hard to move H.R. 6001 forward in the House or
similar legislation that will continue to move our county in the direction of
energy independence. Unfortunately, there are too many bills that are
not being brought up in the House which would increase our nation’s
energy independence. My frustration is that there is a wrong-headed
philosophy on energy policy in Washington that says we can’t better
utilize the oil, coal and natural gas resources in this country, but says
its okay for American families to seek direct help from Hugo Chavez –
the Dictator from Venezuela. While our county does not have the
domestic reserves of a Saudi Arabia, there are significant pockets of oil and
natural gas that can be found.

The reality – there is no “silver bullet” that will make gas
prices drop overnight. If we keep our hands tied, prices will only
continue to rise. I will continue working with other common sense members in
the House and Senate on a bipartisan basis to strive to make these
reforms a reality, ultimately providing more relief for the consumer at the
pump.

Sincerely,
Robin Hayes
Member of Congress

Robin what's up with the long diatribe. No one is going to read that shit. That's why you are a politician - too baffle them with never ending rhetoric and helping yourself to the coffers. To conclude: fuck you and fuck your horse you rode in on.

hello

hi

There's a reason the Congressman's post looks as though it has a spacing problem: it was cut & paste.

I ride a motorcycle and get 50 MPG plus use the HOV lane. I pass many fools every day to/from work and I think it is hilarious to see them sitting there on that huge parking lot. I will especially think it is hilarious when gas hits $6/gallon this summer. Just to give you an idea I spend about $16 once per week at $4/gallon. When it hits $6/gallon I will spend $24 per week. That's only $96/month which will be even less than one fill up for these fuckers driving big SUV's and trucks. To sum it up: fuck you and your gas guzzling single passenger tanks. You deserve to spend $1000/month in gas to drive those guzzlers. Me laugh now.

Please- why all the hateful posts and name calling for ppl who aren't driving a motorcycle? I am a carpooler, and use public transportation for most of the time and do not feel the need to criticize others for their tranportation choices. You have no idea what circumstances/ reason for driving a larger vehicle are- perhaps doing your part in conservation by riding your bikes, and or help others find ways to conserve would be a more constructive way to go instead of spewing maligning and derogatory remarks. Grow up!

I spew hatred towards assholes with big SUV's and trucks because the drivers are either bitchy women on cellphones who don't pay attention to anyone except their selves or short little pipsqueak dudes with Napoleon Complexes. It's funny how they never act the way they do when they drive when we meet in person. And, you wonder why I ride a Hog and carry several sidearms. My biker gang buddies and I are as peaceful as can be until you cross us. As you can guess I is the educated one of the group (grammar purposely done this way for emph-ass-is).

Big Al - Common courtesy when posting on a public forum, please. Foul language just shows unintelligence. And from what you are saying (minus the crassness), you are not a stupid person. Kudos for riding a motorcycle. My husband rides his to work as much as he possibly can, too. But a family of four or five cannot do the same. Given, they also don't need that Escalade or Hummer (version 1, 2 or 3).

Politician - Next time take the three seconds to reformat.

Dan - Learn basic grammar skills (such as punctuation) and stop screaming at everyone. It's called Caps Lock. Turn it off.

In my last four or five fill-ups I've really kept an eye on my fuel usuage. I heard of hypermiling and looked at several websites that have suggested small changes. In the last three fill-ups, I've noticed a significant difference (almost 20%) in my mpg just by doing some of the suggestions on the websites.

I've got a car that's excellent on the highway but horrible for the work-errand driving. Just doing changes in (bad) driving habits saved almost $40 this month alone.

I too am a biker (but less profane) and while I get excellent gas miles on my old bike, I also understand we bikers have our own guilt to deal with...

Motorcycles are not held to the same standards as autos (re- catalytic converters, etc) and pollute about as badly as gas lawn-mowers. I seem to remember the pollution numbers were something like only 10 minutes of 'mowing' is like 10 hours on the highway. (sorry I haven't looked it up)

In short, morotcycles are good for less consumption of:
- fuel, manufacturing resources, and 'road capacity'
... but very bad for air polution.

As for Sonny's post, I am guessing that he was just forwarding Robin's lecture. I actually do find it interesting to see what americains are doing to : justify nukes (what about waste? and where do you direct excess capacity during off-peak production?) : clean coal (i'd like to know more) : bio-fuel (this just seems bad all around)

Jace,

You sound like a reasonable lady (I assume since you said husband). I wish more ladies could be courteous like you at least when on the road (notice I am not being profane this time). Bikers have to put up with idiot drivers everyday (assuming the biker isn't the idiot throwing wheelies, splitting lanes, and so on). It really irks the hell out of me to see some women in an SUV with the phone up to her left ear as she is pulling onto a highway entrance ramp (or failing to stop before pulling out of a Walgreens or Walmart). Basically, I am trying to give you an insight to why I "spew the hatred." I am sure your husband has experienced the same issues I have on a bike. Granted I could use my truck, but why spend the gas and time when I can cruise the HOV lane with 50 MPG. On a sidenote: I equate Escalades with ghetto (notice how they always have chrome 21's) and Hummers with yuppies. Like I said my biker buddies and I are peaceful to a point.

BIG AL, I RIDE A HOG TOO AND I ALSO THINK IT IS FUCKING HILARIOUS THAT PEOPLE IN LARGE TRUCKS & SUVS HAVE TO PAY SO MUCH FOR A FILL UP. FUCK 'EM. LET'S SEE HOW LONG THEY CAN DRIVE THOSE THINGS WHEN GAS HITS $6/GAL THIS SUMMER. ALSO, I THINK BUSH IS AN EXCELLENT PRESIDENT. HE REALIZED THAT AMERICANS NEEDED A WAKE UP CALL TO CHANGE THEIR SELF CENTERED WAYS. YOU FUCKERS WILL PRAISE HIM LATER ON WHEN YOU REALIZE THE BRILLIANCE TO THIS PLAN. PRAISE BUSH AND PRAISE EVER INCREASING GAS PRICES.

To Goat,
You are a complete asshole !

TO MAPOH EL FAGO:

GOAT SAYS WHY YOU DON'T SUCK HIS EVER SHITTING ASSHOLE ESPECIALLY AFTER A NIGHT OF BEER DRINKING AND MEXICAN FOOD. GOAT WANTS TO SMASH YOUR FACE WITH A BEER BOTTLE AND THEN DRIVE A POOL STICK UP YOUR ASS. OF COURSE, YOU WOULD LIKE THAT MAPOH FAGO. COME ON DOWN TO MY BIKER BAR FAGO.

FROM GOAT

i agree with goat, fuck you assholes with your big vehicles, i hope you go broke driving those behemoths, serves you right for being a self centered asshole in the first place, i especially love that the blue book value for large trucks/suvs has dropped to half "overnight", not only do these assholes have to pay for high gas they can't get rid of these vehicles without taking a severe loss, now that's fucking hilarious, ha ha you are stuck no matter what way turn asshole, i have a hybrid with an hov plate and a motorcycle because i was smart, you was dumb, now empty that wallet for gas fucktard (that includes females as well since they like to drive soccer mom suvs)

Hello All,

I've noticed that through MOST of the 'righteous indignation' from the Left, is about the 'huge' profits the oil companies are making and have been making. I must point out however, that neither the cartoonist nor the 'Open Minded' 'environmentalists' put ANY of their blather into CONTEXT (such a nasty word to those on the Left).

The Profit Margin, that is, the Net Profit of the oil companies, AFTER investments, costs, overhead (recurring and one time), and TAXES, is about 8.6%.

Read that again, will you? Eight point Six Percent.

Exxon Mobil for instance, paid some 29 BILLION dollars in taxes.

How much did those of you on the Left pay? Hmmmm?

I don't own oil stocks. I don't have venture capital in drilling, in fact, I don't even have ANY 'venture capital' at all. I don't work for an oil company. I am in fact, a physically impaired individual living on the very little that is left of my savings, because I can't work and don't qualify for Medicare, Medicaid, or any other public assistance (being male, I've found that the Public Assistance Programs are almost wholly targeted toward women).

So don't bother throwing the usual mindless invective my way of those natures.

How soon should we implement a Windfall Profits Tax against Microsoft? They're in the 18%-25% range, depending on how you want to define their balance sheet. Many Tech companies are in that range or actually reach near 30% in some years.

Shall you Leftists/Socialist/Obamaniacs be calling for the attack on Microsoft, Real Networks, Intel, AMD, Bed-Bath-and-Beyond, Goodyear Tire, Firestone, the NFL, the NBA, MLB, NHL, et al?

No? You don't want to tax the BILLIONS made by Sports Teams? You don't want to tax Starbucks for all the money they make on the $4-$5 cups of coffee even though it costs roughly .85 CENTS per cup to make those lattes, cappuccinos, and mochas?

No again?

WHY NOT?

Methinks the word for which you are looking is: hypocrisy.

You got a problem with gas and diesel prices being too high?

Complain to the Sierra Club, the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, et al. Those Eco-Fascist organizations and their wild eyed fanatic mindless followers/members, are the ones who've STOPPED the construction of New Refineries (so greater SUPPLY of gas could be made available) for 30 YEARS, through MASSIVE MOUNTAINS of LITIGATION.

The lunatic Left groups above, and more like them, have STOPPED the construction of more Hydro-Electric Dams, once again via LITIGATION....killing any new Hydro-Electric plants, which are as GREEN and CLEAN as it gets, next to Wind and Solar power.

Speaking of Wind and Solar, these SAME Eco-Fascist groups above, have STOPPED numerous Wind and Solar Farms from being built, yes, you guessed, through ENDLESS LITIGATION!!!

Where are all the Leftist/Socialist/Obamaniacs rhetoric, 'righteous indignation', and 'outrage' at what most honest, logical, and really open minded people would call 'criminal behaviour' at the Endless Litigation brought into the courts by the above mentioned Eco-Fascist groups and their lunatic members?

What, no harsh words for the Eco-Fascists whom have helped to CAUSE the hight fuel and electric prices we're now 'enjoying'?

Obama said publicly that he wasn't unhappy with the high prices, he said he was unhappy that there hadn't been a 'longer transition to higher fuel prices.'

Ah yes, our 'saviour'.

Cheers from the Rockies.

Neanderthal75:

I would like you to pray with me. Dear Satan please curse our gas and may you make it go to $10/gallon so that these self centered large truck/SUV drivers have no money. May you also be blessed with Neaderthal75 sucking your eternal cock in Hell whilst he is on his knees in cock sucking position. Thanks for praying with me Neanderthal75.

Hey Neanderthal75
There are over 70 caped oil well in California alone. It has not been profitable enough to use them. Our wake up call came in 1972, but the United States chose to ignore what was coming, or big business paid our politicians to ignore what was coming for us.Now we have to pay OPEC nations what ever they want, just bend over and take it like a man, it's going to go in deeper.
But go ahead and blame greenpeace or who ever else you want to blame. The truth is we are our own worst enemies . Time is changing, and as a country, we are going to have to make changes. Smaller cars, solar power, wind power, etc.
The fact that even Bush has finally figured out things have gone down hill has some promise. Now if we can just stop attacking nations because evil people live their or stop pouring in billions a week looking for weapons of mass destruction, maybe we can put the money to good use and look for alternative fuel technology.
I hope change is coming in November, and so should you.

Al

President Bush is an excellent president. I wish he could run for 4 more years. I also wish we could have Cheney and Rumsfeld continue on. This is an excellent cabinet. The American people are so proud of this president. They hate to see him go. Hopefully, McCain will win and "stay the course." Bush's strategy in advancing the evolution of alternative fuels and cars is brilliant. This wouldn't have been possible without fuel prices going up. It shows that Bush is a forward thinker because he also realized how "green" these new cars would make us. The world is very proud of these achievements and they reward us by lowering the value of the dollar to further advance Bush's brilliant strategy (or should I say strateegery). It's too bad we don't Jerry Falwell around to continue with the religious support we need. Maybe Dobson can fill his shoes (he sure can't fill his pants). Stay the course America, we are almost at the goal.

This message brought to you by the Conservative Christian Coalition for Limiting American Civil Liberties and Income.

Amen, Brother.

I have a Honda Goldwing 2001 that met the 2008 california epa emmissions back then. And I still get 47mpg's with a six cylinder engine.

I love high gas prices. Hopefully, they will hit at least $5/gal by the end of this summer. I especially love passing assholes in large trucks/suvs who are just crawling along in the non-HOV lanes. I use a hybrid and a motorcycle and get at least 50 MPG with both vehicles. Plus, I can use the HOV lane with both (since motorcycles are automatically allowed and the hybrid has an HOV plate because I was one of the first to get on the list). Another thing that makes me especially happy is when I see one of these large trucks/suvs pulled over for using the HOV illegally (a nothing like a $400 ticket to go with your high gas bill). I don't care what your excuses were for buying a large truck/suv so don't bother whining about it. Just accept the fact that you have to crawl along in rush hour traffic and pay high fuel costs (hopefully to the point where you can't afford it and have to ride the bus). All in all I am enjoying these high gas prices. Even if gas went to $10/gal it wouldn't really affect me (I drive about 200 miles per week so that would be a whole $40/week - right now it is about $16/week). And before you say it would affect me with food costs and such - no it wouldn't since I am well off anyway (incidentally my family is in oil, I don't have to work but than again I like using my Ivy League education - yes we are a bunch of pricks as you have always thought). To conclude: fuck all you assholes with the large trucks/suvs. You deserve to pay at least $1000/month in gas whilst I laugh at your dumb ass and collect the dividends.

Fuck anyone who says 'fuck you assholes in your large SUVS/Trucks. Just because YOU can afford to go and get a car that doesn't get shitty gas mileage doesn't mean EVERYONE can. I'm 18 years old, I drive a 97 Jeep Cherokee. Why? Because my parents decided that they wanted me in something thats more likely to survive a crash. I WANTED a small car that was good on gas but they said no. The said they wanted to keep me safe, and I can understand that. My mom also drives a Jeep. It's not because she feels that she's superior to the guy in the Prius, it's because she hauls a trailer a few days a week so my sister can ride her horse with the 4H. My dad drives an 89 Dakota. He doesn't drive it because he thinks it makes him look like a bad ass. As a matter of fact, he doesn't like driving it because it makes about as much power as a Honda Civic and gets shitty mileage besides. He drives it because it was a gift. When you have two kids and you work every day to help put them through school you can't just go out and buy a new car whenever you feel like it. They can't afford to go out and buy a hybrid because of these reasons. When they bought the vehicles they currently drive, gas prices were sub-$2/gallon levels and they didn't look like they were suddenly going to skyrocket.
I'm not 'against' you and your 'green' movement. I'm all for saving the environment. I'm not against anyone who drives a hybrid or a fuel efficient car. I'm against the people who drive those hybrid/economy cars who go around thinking they're automatically superior to the people who can't afford such things. Next time, fucking stop and THINK about what you are saying before you fucking say it.
Also, to 'Jefferson': Especially fuck YOU and all the people LIKE you. You were born into money. You're a spoiled little bitch who sits in the lap of luxury and you didn't have to do SHIT to get there. Oh! An Ivy League education? Wow! I'm so fucking impressed. It must have been REALLY hard to get into an Ivy League school when you have all that extra income just lying around. You're just so much better than all the rest of us who actually work for our money.

Hey Anonymous,

I think it is funny that you are pissed at us folks with the money and Ivy League education. I was honest with you and did tell you up front that we are pricks. And, yes we run the companies that run the country. I am already on my way to being an executive. I don't care about you and your hill billy problems (go tell it to Jerry Springer). All I care about is making a lot of money and fucking over jerk offs like you (which is why I am glad you are mad - means I got to you). To conclude: I don't think I am superior to you when I drive my high dollar hybrid, I know I am superior. So go suck off one of your goats at the 4H.

Jefferson

I must have got to you as well since you bothered replying to my above post. Also, I think it's funny that you used the word 'folks' while referring to me as a hillbilly. For someone who's so superior, you make quite a few generalizations. If you'd ever actually met a hillbilly (or, God forbid, a redneck), you would most definitely not call me one. I pride myself on my intelligence and ability to form words into coherent thoughts. While it's true that many of the people living near where I live are hillbillies (or rednecks), I most certainly am NOT one. I wish you could meet some of the people around here so you could understand that not everyone in the world is either rich and smart or poor and stupid.
Also, I apologize for earlier. I was having a bad day and I really shouldn't have taken it out on you. Your comments do frustrate me, however. While it's true that my family doesn't have millions, it doesn't mean we live in a trailer and have a meth lab in our basement. In fact, we live in a nice house with a pool and neighbors who couldn't be any nicer.

Jealousy is an awful thing. The guy is just mad because he cannot afford an SUV and obviously an education either. Rest assured that those who do own them (SUV's) can afford the gas for them. Get a life (and some common sense) Guy. You haven't "gotten" to anyone. It's just sad to see and read such ignorance.

I don't mean to come off as rude, and I certainly hope that I don't, but who are you referring to Missy? I agree with you completely though. I can afford the gas for my SUV, even though looking at the prices I'm paying sometimes is starting to make me sick. Again, I apologize if I have given offense to anyone.

Just have to mention after reading about all the issues with the gas situation-I placed an order where the product was located an hour north of my location in Wisconsin. It shipped to Ohio, then to Grand Rapids, MI and then to Milwaukee where it was delivered. Now is that insane or what??? The company doing the shipping...DHL
Also, the comment about "Rednecks". Have you ever read up on the history of Rednecks. Look it up sometime and you might be surprised or watch the History channel when they talk about the proud men and how the name came to be. Quite different then the image today.

I am rich and can afford SUV's and why should I hide the fact that I am affluent. Why shouldn't I flaunt it? Afterall, I am privileged and I have both earned and inherited it. To continue, I prefer either Mercedes or BMW for the quality and, of course, the prestige. Although, I have been thinking about getting a Porsche Cayenne Turbo series (they start at around $90K - you don't finance a vehicle like this you pay cash). American vehicles are very inferior to German vehicles, but that is no surprise considering the lack of quality workers (i.e.: mostly rednecks and hillbillies on some stupid assembly line). America really should automate their factories and do away with these uneducated, unskilled laborers. I could care less about the price of gas or other peoples' lack of ability to purchase it (personally I hope it goes to $10/gal). Now it is about time for martinis and mistresses at my favorite country club here in California (which runs me about $10K per month) so I must close.

To memyselfandi: When I use the term 'redneck,' I'm referring to the people (like the ones living in my area) who drive around in huge pickup trucks with rebel flags flying from the beds. The same people who are likely to join a white supremacist group later in life (if they haven't already). So please, don't take me for an idiot just because I don't know every little bit of history. (I did look up the history of rednecks, by the way, and it made for some interesting reading. Thanks for that)
To the people who keep going on about how much money they have: what does it matter? I doubt anyone on here will ever actually meet you in real life (I don't know who you are, I don't care) so what's the point of bragging about how much shit you have? I can do too, but that doesn't make it true. Here: What? You only pay $10,000 a month at your country club? Try $20,000. Porsche Cayenne Turbo? Hah! I just bought a Bugatti Veyron for my daily driver! In case you didn't know, that's the fastest accelerating production car (meaning that it was not made as a one time thing or something someone tuned) in existence. Hell, I just had a Porsche mounted on my wall above my fireplace for decoration.

hey we dont need this is! all bush fault, he the one start it the wars and all the crap that we dont need but hey he can do that why the hell can he help us to low it down and protect the usa????????

I am rich too and I flaunt it as much as possible. I also believe in Satan. I try to be as greedy and assholish as possible. I get great pleasure in people's financial hardship. I also believe President Bush is an excellent president. He is absolutely a visionary and is what this country has needed for a long time. Praise Satan.

What is with all the attitude on this website? Those of you with your Ivy League education, your probably going to vote for Obama, so your little raise will just be taken away with his wonderful increase in taxes! Good thing you bought your little homosexual looking hybrid, because gas prices will go up again because the wonderful hippy environmentalists care more about the polar bears than they do about American citizens.
If the LIberals have it their way, you will be living in highly populated cities(in expensive apartments) with mass transit. They want to change the American way of life as we know it, and people are buying into all this Green garbage (another money making, tax raising scam). If Liberals prefer European customs, I suggest they take their elitist butts right over to those countries. Europe's way (Socialism), and over taxing is not the answer to America's problems.
Drill here, and I guarantee we won't have to drive around in unsafe bubble cars.

this is in response to stephanie's comment, "Did it take you all day to think of that intelligent reason behind the high price of gas"? Come on, you sound just like the typical Liberal who blames everything on Bush. Have you researched why we are paying higher prices? There are so many reasons why the prices of gas has increased that it's just laughable when I hear everyone blame this on Bush.
Did you know that Coca-Cola had higher profits than many oil companies last year? Do we need to drink Coca-Cola? No. But we do need oil. So, the oil companies are actually contibuting to the prosperity of our country. I would say drinking beverages is not!

I am a rich foreign borne liberal and it is my goal for you to live in a "shack down by the river." I don't give a shit about my fellow so-called American especially those who are educationally and financially inferior (not to mention mentally). I only care about me and my money. So I will cheer when gas hits $10/gal. I can afford the gas and I don't care about whether you can or not. As a matter of fact I have investments in oil so I am reaping the rewards right now. Oh and as for liberals lest I remind you it is your conservative president that has caused these high gas prices and the economy to be in dire straits. He has been in office for 8 years so there is no one else to blame, but a conservative. However, as a liberal I thank him for the oil dividends. So to conclude: I welcome European rule in the US. As a matter of fact my money is invested in foreign investments such as Royal Dutch Shell and is in the much more stable Euro currency (I move as many dollars into euros as possible - granted it is getting harder to do with the declining dollar).

Why don't you just skip the shack and go straight to living in a van down by the river?

Hey William ,I am one of those onthe assembley lines .In retrospect to "us "being un educated,Have you checked out the qualifications of those assembling the porches??It doesn't exactly take rocket scientist to put them together.
It doesn't matter how f--king wealthy some one is.If you think about it for a second ,if it weren't for people like me there wouldn't be people like your self.Someone in your family some where did the grunt work to,i'm sure.
As for the rest of you that don't mind $10/gal,what are you going to do when factories and grocery stores shut down because people can't afford to go to work or shop? What about the country clubs? How long will they be able to remain open if employees can't afford to show up?
Hey Oliver,it's your turn.My family and friends didnt fight for this country so dumbshit foreigners could come over and put us down.As a matter of fact they shot some foreigners for badmouthing the way you have."IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE PACK YOUR SHIT AND GET OUT" !!!

To hillbilly:

I do like it here, but I was already wealthy back from whence I came. My family was always educated - we never were commoners (aka hill billies and rednecks as you know this title by). Since I am wealthy I believe in flaunting it and I don't care if you don't like that a foreigner flaunts it. I also don't care if your factories or grocery stores shut down. Serves you right for not forming a Labor Party or for getting an education so you would not have to toil in such places in the first place. So to conclude: I am not leaving and next time you see that fancy BMW or Mercedes pass you by just think it may be Oliver. I bid you adieu my ignorant, uneducated, and unskilled redneck friend.

I have always loved bullshit! That's exactly what all of you are. Anybody can say, Oh, i'm rich and don't care and worship this and that. FUCK OFF and get a life, you are all a waste of our time.

TO JOSH (THE FAG BOY WONDER):

SO WHY ARE YOU ON THIS WEB SITE POSTING YOUR SHIT IF WE ARE SUCH A WASTE OF TIME? I WILL TELL YOU WHY - BECAUSE YOU ARE COCK TROLLING AND LOOKING FOR YOUR NEXT MAN LOVE ON THIS SITE. NOW WHY DON'T YOU GET OFF THIS SITE SINCE YOU ARE GETTING OFF ANY OTHER WAY AND LEAVE THE RICH FOREIGNERS AND DUMBASS REDNECKS ALONE.

Hey Oliver,
Next time you breakdown and see that redneck in the pickup drive by you and your fancy car sitting in the hot summer sun, I hope its me, so I can see your smug face as I drive by! You sir have lost complete touch with reality. Let’s see how much you cry if we have gas shortages as we did in the past. You will be sitting right in line with the rest of the world and you my friend will probably be whining the loudest.
Between all the bad loans given in the housing market and the increased demand for oil from newly developing nations we are looking at hard times to come. To try to blame this all on any one person is just ridiculous and narrow minded. Also, where are you going to get your supplies and food if the factories and groceries are closed. I really don't see you getting your nails dirty in the garden.
As a nation we all need to economize. Detroit and the car industry need to come up with cars that run on other fuels. Now, not later! In the mean time we need to look at alternative sources for power. Most homes could run off solar cells, solar water heaters and wind power. The fact is that sooner or later the oil will be gone! We need to face this fact and realize that we need to come up with renewable sources for power.
While doing this we must keep in mind that we are poisoning the world, our homes, the water and air. This must stop! All your money and fancy belongings are not going to mean squat if you don't have good air, water and food!
Oh and Oliver, not all rednecks as you call us are dumb and poor. I have 3 college degrees and own 2 homes in Central Florida, one of them on 3 acres. I also have a high tech job working on flight simulators that you, my arrogant friend, are not even qualified to do! Just because we prefer to live the country life doesn't make you any better.
Walk with me on a hot summer’s night, when the moon is full and the swamp comes alive! I'll show you fear! And the country boy will survive! Will you!

To Scarecrow:

It shan't be a problem if my vehicle breaks down I will just call some redneck AAA service (afterall, rednecks are our are modern day indentured servants). And, besides the likelihood of one of my automobiles breaking down is very slim. Incidentally, where did you obtain your college degrees? I imagine from your local community college - most impressive - what do you call them in America - oh yes, associate's degrees (the technician level). And, it took three degrees to get your mediocre technician job on flight simulators. Actually, that fact alone is quite scary. If you were a real technical person you would have gone to a real school like MIT or Stanford. I could list British and German schools, but a redneck such as yourself would not recognize the names such as Cambridge or the Max Planck Institute, respectively. You see I have dual higher level training - one in science (the American equivalent of a PhD) and one in economics (the American equivalent of a masters). And, yes I do come from money and I do and will most assuredly look down upon you. Finally, to conclude: President Bush is an excellent president. I am truly enjoying the high price of petrol and America's whining response to it, most particularly yours Scarecrow.

Oliver.

This is in response to the comment made by drillintheusa on July 2nd. Are you crazy? Bush is trying really hard to destroy this country before his term ends and he is doing a damn good job of it! Are you sure you aren't one of his daughters???

This is in response to the comment made by drillintheusa on July 2nd. Are you crazy? Bush is trying really hard to destroy this country before his term ends and he is doing a damn good job of it! Are you sure you aren't one of his daughters???

Hey you fuckwad Rednecks and Hillbillies, empty those fucking wallets at the gas pump like a good little fuck-tards. I am so glad that you fuckers drive Hillbilly vehicles that get shitty gas mileage. That's 'cause you is stupid (bad grammar on purpose because I know that's what you understand). I hope you have no money left for food or rent (you can always live out of your truck and eat microwave burritos from your local 7-11). I am also glad you fuckers are uneducated - your future is looking pretty gloom. Schadenfreude mother fucker, Schadenfreude.

Why must you trash the very people and country and allows you the right of freedom. What are you so angry about that you must feel the urged to attack the people of the country that you seem to like to be living in. If there is one thing that you may have not yet learned while visiting our country, is the simple fact that we are very proud of our country. While I must say that many Americans can represent their country with pride and honor, you my foreign visitor are not representing yourself or your country. Keep in mind, work visa's do expire, visitors do go home, and one day you may not be crusing around our streets, shopping in our stores, or even do i dare say, taking advantage of all of our freedoms, that we enjoy each day. I dare ask you, if you think that we Americans are so dumb, why are you here in the first place? Why aren't you in your own country boasting your success? Because here my vista toting friend, in America, our success is not labelled in material items, money or even what we do for a living. At the end of the day "The American" success is family, friends and freedom. Something to which you seem to be yearning for and will only experience briefly, while we AMERICANS get to enjoy daily. So enjoy your brief stay here and always remember where you came from because I am sure you will be going back home soon.

American Dreams: Fuck you, you dumb wanker. I have permanent residency in the US so I will leave whenst I very well want. It's nice being able to stay in various countries. One thing I have learned about Americans though is that they are a very whiny lot they are. Your US Senator, Phil Gramm was a very astute fellow in making this remark himself. Ah it's a shame that you cannot afford to drive your hillbilly vehicles. Get used to it wanker. Oh and I do not want to hear about your family values and such. Most of these values are hypocritical (just look at your televangelistic religions - who else in the world has such gobschite?). So to conclude: I still find it hilarious that Americans are paying high prices for petrol. I hope it continue to rise. God Bless President Bush for bleedin' Americans off of her fuel dependency (remember he said you lot were addicted to oil) and God Bless Her Queen Mum.

Oliver,
So your intelligence level does show in your style of writing!!!!
Enjoying the Freedom of Speech Rights are we?
I can only laugh at your attempt to ensure us of your higher status quo! Your comments only leave us to believe you are a poser! (And not a very convincing one at that!)
Enjoy your rantings of broken sentences, random thoughts, and attempt of making yourself seem more than what you truly are.
You see, Oliver, some of us are world travel, understand the different cultures, and politically correct at all cost.
I wish you well with your attempts and inability to make people think you are more than you really are. The Queen would be so proud that you used her name to boast yourself! I am sure she is talking abou it right now! As for us Americans', we know when to use FUCK YOU in the proper context. Maybe one of your higher College textbooks should further explain the proper use of the slang far better than any American text could!

American Dreams:

You say I use broken sentences - go back and read your previous posting. It is full of grammatical errors (for example: "some of us are world travel" - you mean "some of us are world traveled"). Stupid American - educated in some hillbilly school in the South. You see American Dream I am as fluent in American grammar as I am in her Queen's English. It is you who is the poser as you make no sense about when and when not to use "FUCK YOU." There was nothing with the way I used it - it was meant for you and you got the point. So to repeat and to conclude: Fuck you, you dumb wanker.

Ohhhh to angry someone so quickly is quite entertaining!!!!
By the way, I do not reside in the south, and I do believe the people in the south are called Southerns. Southern hospitality is a phrase used in American English to describe the residents of the Southern United States are particularly warm and welcoming to visitors to their homes, or to the South in general. People with great Hospitality and should not be ashamed of who they are, nor for standing up for themselves against all odds! While persons from outside the region often mistake many of the southern hospitality customs as being disingenuous or fake in some way, in actuality the customs are often a way to make the visitor feel as comfortable as possible in an unfamiliar setting. Additionally, although some customs may be seen as odd or even offensive by people not from the South, they are considered polite in local culture and usually meant as an expression of traditional warm greeting.
So, Oliver I will take the lead of a Southern, and ignore your comments, and simply say "Thank you for your insight on your personality.".

American Dreams: Who taught you how to write? The Mississippi Public School System? For example: you wrote "people in the south are called Southerns." You meant to write "people in the South are called Southerners." You made two spelling errors. When referring to a region it is supposed to be capitalized and when you left off the "ers" on Southerners. The funny thing is you are not consistent as you do capitalize South one time and on do not another time. This lack of consistency is a reflection of your thought pattern: in one word incoherent. You are a hillbilly dumbass. Oh and I hope you are driving one of those gas guzzling hillbilly vehicles. I love it when Americans like you have to drain the measly wallets of its few remaining dollars.

Hey, American Dreams... shut the fuck up. Why the hell are you even bothering to talk to this ignorant douche bag. Go do something useful. You're embarrassing the rest of us.

Hey Oliver, get your shit and get the fuck out, you prissy little English Bastard... and as to the 'Oliver Supporter', we know it's really you. And whilst your on your way, thank the red, white and blue you're not speaking German today, you ungrateful piece of steamin' shit. Go back to the motherland and eat that dog shit you call food. There isn't a meal in that whole contry that's worth feeding to the rats, over-running the place.
... and wash it down with a big cup of Blow Me!

Hey Regular Joe:

You sound like an angry homosexual. I bet you like to dress up in panties and stockings bare assed when no one is around (except of course your homosexual gang bang buddies). Yep, all Billy Bob macho in public, but just a little sissy cock sucker in private. I bet you also love felching (you know the term, but I will explain it for the rest of the folks - that's where you suck the cum from another dude's freshly fucked ass). Damn you are a nasty cock trolling fag.

First of all, why is there so much foul language and attitude here? it is simply just to comment on an animated cartoon. There is really no need for this at all. We all earned our right to be alive and living here, we should be thankful we are not dead due to someone bombing the crap out of us. Remember God is not going to destroy us, it is US who are going to destroy ourselves, so why are you all fighting the eachother, whom you have no idea who eachother is?? If the rich people here are so rich, then why don't you get on T.V. and fight there? I support my fellow Americans. I don't support Bush and my fellow upper command, but I did what I thought was right and fought for all you people to do what? fight online?? Oh man if half you even knew what we do out there, risking our lives and dieing for you to act like children on the internet. It is because of God that you have your freedom to live. It is because of us that each individual has the right to speak your mind anywhere and anytime. So instead of arguing over nothing that you are not going to do anything about anyone, you should be thanking eachother that you are STILL ALIVE! If you want something to do, then those who have money, give charity to those who are dieing in the world, to those who are barely making it on 3 jobs, kids, and a mortgage, as it just might be you for talking all this trash. Remember God will take care of those who suffered and what goes around comes around!!

Hey Anonymous:

Fuck you - you sound like a whiny cock troller. I served in the Marines so don't tell me about honor and liberty and all of that horse shit. If I want to flame someone I will flame someone (including you asshole). So suck my ever shitting ass after a night of beer swilling and burritos with jalapenos (Tex-ass style). You ever seen a cow raise its tail and blow green shit - well that's I want you to catch from my ass. And remember: love hate (is that an oxymoron or what).

you are all a bunch of losers

Um, I am a cock troller and I love high gas - especially gas blowing out of a man's asshole after it has been nicely fucked by a big cocked young stud. I am only a troller looking for manly rednecks - I am not a fag though as I never inhale.

Thanks to Walt for making this. I find your animations generally funny and witty, but the songs are usually the best.

You have good lyrics, and really great sense of humour.

Keepthe animations coming, and thanks again.

Texas

You are not a marine.

The cartoons are great. The comments are foul and should be deleted.

Texas, I don't believe you were ever a marine, just a moron. It is a pity that you don't have something better to do then insult people. Oh wait, I almost forgot, you said you were a redneck. That is just another name for moron. Every marine I know, including myself, would not and do not insult people the way you do. If you are a marine, I am ashamed to call you my brother.

Storm,

Who says all Marines follow the same policies in life? I served and that was all there was to it. I've been out for quite awhile. Don't kid yourself - you never were my brother. You were just a fellow comrade whom I needed in combat (just like you needed me). Don't fall for the brain washing hype. If I were a Marine for life I would have retired as a Marine - 6 years of their horseshit and fucked up missions was enough for me (if I wanted easy I would have joined the Air Force). Get over being a Marine - it is the past for me (unless you are still in). Now back to where I was - insulting fuckers on the web. I am not going to follow some fucking Code of Honor just because you think that's what a Marine should do. Fuck you and shove that saber up your ass. And I don't care if you think I was a Marine or not - doesn't matter. Not all of us are crew cut wearing ball licking assholes like you.

Texas - I call you my brother only because you had the courage to serve, no matter how screwed up your head is. And yes, I am still in, 24 years now, and in the hospital recovering from wounds from during my fifth tour in the middle east. So, why don't you come out to Pendleton and I'll shove my saber up your ass! And I will never get over being a Marine, just like you will never get over being a jerk.

Storm I am so proud of you. Proud that you were stupid enough to keep on serving. I've known plenty of lifers like you. I have had knee surgery due to a bullet wound - lucky I didn't lose the leg from the knee down - that was enough for me. And yes I am a jerk - after all didn't you see the title Texas Asshole. Go back and read the title again Duf-ass. You can't win Storm - I am an asshole and admit it and most importantly am proud of it. Asshole first, Marine second (or third or fourth or ...).

Can't we all just get along? Oh, and actually DO something instead of whining and insulting each other? Huh?

Cheezwiz, why don't you but the fuck out? No we can't all get along nor we want to. We want to flame each other because it is fun and deep down it is human nature. Now I will start: why don't you suck my ever shitting asshole. You can start by puckering up those cock sucking lips and wrapping them on my ass rim right before I blow. Is that graphic enough for you ass-tard?

Billy Bob, as far as I can see, you haven't been involved in this either. Now you're telling ME to butt out?

Yes Cheezwiz I am telling you to butt out. Us rednecks stick together since we are related and all. When one of my kin is involved I am involved so butt the fuck out. So how did you get a name like Cheezwiz? Was it a name the fags out in San Fran called you after a night of servicing them in some leather bar? You probably got the name for sucking Cheezwiz off of their cocks or something like that? I knews you was a fag.

Right. So it's human nature to flame each other and yet at the same time defending your kin is the right thing to do. Could you explain how that works?

And I proudly refer to myself as Cheezwiz because I love mozzerella cheese.

Oh, and I congratulate the maker of the above animation. Very nicely done.

Cheezwiz,

You definitely ain't from the South since you don't understand country ways. We can flame each other, but you can't - you are an unwelcomed outsider. And a homosexual one at that. How do I know you are a homosexual? Because you never denied it when I mentioned how you really got the name "Cheezwiz." You is a fag - plain and true. So take your gay ass carpet bagging ways back to San Fran. You know you would be happier gagging on leather clad boys' cocks in some back room out there then trying to convert us straight country boys. Now git fag.

I'm not a freaking' fag! And I'm not homosexual either! So what if I decide to use my favorite eleven-year-old codename?

You disgust me, Billy Bob. I'm out of here. I hope you're happy. And the next time you and your Southerner self feel the need to flame people on a commenting board for a political animation by the cartoonist for a Long Island newspaper on that newspaper's web site, please do us New Yorkers a favor and BACK OFF.

Cheezwiz,

Good fuckin' riddance you homo. Only a homo would whine like you do. And if I disgust you good - why don't you suck the ever shitting stream that I will blow into your mouth straight from my asshole. I will prepare for this event by eating a whole bunch of enchiladas with beans and jalapenos and swill it all down with beer. That should get it brewing real nice before The Blow.

Billy Bob

Hi Walt
Can you tell me how to send a video to my friends without sending the whole page? I would appreciate your info. Thanks, Dolly

Hello Walt loved your animations, thought i would see what was being said about them after i had been to 4-5 of your animations sites. This is the last one i looked at and just wanted to read some of the comments that were being made. And all i found was trash talk and not about your animations, but 2-3 people just trashing each other. One lady had a question and the rest was well i'm not sure what you would call it. Just wanted you to know that i like your work, thank you for your time.

Hey Walt, Your cartoons are always funny but fining the animations made my day. Thanks, a sense of humor is the only thing that can't be taken away from us.... Keep up the great work

Billy Boop what exactly is a leather bar ?

People generally talk about what they know best I guess.

Just F.Y.I. Cheezwhiz was also a cheese spread product for bread. I haven't bought it for a long time, so I can't remember what it was made from, like if it was made from real cheese or not for example, and if so, if it was process cheese or just what, but I suppose that I could find it on the Internet to find out, but it had an Orange color, like Cheddar Cheese, and it came in a glass jar with a metal cover. I have watched only three of these so far, one that was a "Baby Boomer's" version of the Steppenwolf song called "Born To Be Wild," called "Bored, Tubby, Mild" and the one where Sara Palin is supposedly shooting guns and this one talking about the high gas prices. These can be funny, but in real life, they aren't, but maybe to keep a person's sanity, trying to have a sense of humor about these types of topics may help us to "cope" with the topics being made fun of.

Of course Cheezwhiz is spelled a little differently than Cheezwiz, but I suppose they sound alike. I also saw that Cheezwiz is a game, along with other things, just do a search for it and you'll see some of the things associated with the word Cheesewiz. Anyway, I feel that I'm educated enough to not call people names, and I also try not to use profane language or profanity, not even every day...I will say that I may have let one or two profane words slip out on certain occasions, like for example, if I was to be shingling a roof and maybe slipped with the hammer and hit my thumb instead of the nail, I may have one word slip out as a "slip of the tongue" so to speak. I could even see someone who works at a cheese factory, and/or who makes cheese, use Cheesewiz as their nickname.

I think Billy-Bob should be blocked from your website. His attack on cheeswiz is uncalled for and vicious.

I see James wants to know what a "Leather Bar" is.
Hmm...I'm not exactly sure myself, but I will say though that it may depend on what's being said, meaning that if you're talking about the bar's furnishings, then I'd say that the bar was either made of leather, or most likely, covered in leather, but if it's what I think it is, and I haven't looked at any of the comments about leather bar, except for James asking about what it is, then I'd say that it's probably a bar where most of the people who go there wear leather jackets. I sometimes hear people calling those types of bars "Biker's Bars," but then again, I once again haven't taken a look at all of the comments here, so a leather bar may have a different meaning all together.

For Dolly, what I sometimes do, and what you can do if you use Firefox for a web browser, and I'd have to check to see if Internet Explorer works the same way or not, is to send a link to this page by clicking on where it says "File" on the top left of the browser, then when the drop-down menu appears, click on where it says "Send Link," then your e-mail program should open up and it will usually show a subject on the "Subject" line plus the web address down in the "Main Body" or "Text" area of the message.

You can either place your cursor at the beginning of the web address, click twice to place two carriage returns at the beginning of your message dropping the address down two lines, so you can add text at the beginning before the address, or you can place the cursor at the end of the address, click twice to go down two lines to start a message there, being careful to not break the address up in two or more pieces, because then it won't work.

What I usually do is click somewhere with the mouse to view the cursor, then I click the "Home" button to get the cursor to the beginning of the line. I also click the up arrow to make sure that the cursor is on the top line, which I usually do before clicking on the "Home" button or key, that way I don't accidentally break the address up.

I will say though that not every e-mail program will "word-wrap" properly, so your e-mail program may place a space between part of the address, then it may not work, but there sometimes are ways to fix that, or you can tell people that you send your message to, that if it doesn't work, that they'll need to paste the address into their "Location" or "Address" Bar at the top of their browser.

I use Incredimail myself, and it seems to work ok, but my best friend, and also my brother, won't use it because they say it has too much advertising, but all I see is a small box with ads, but it does change to the time, plus it will also place an invitation to use Incredimail at the bottom of each e-mail, but my brother uses Yahoo and that places much more junk in many more folders on my hard drive than Incredimail does.

How's That?
BernieLJ77

For Dolly,

Of course, you can click on where it says "E-Mail This" on the web page, but if you do that, then you need to add the e-mail addresses yourself, whereas if you use your browser to do the "Send Link" option, then you'll be able to access your address book to get the e-mail addresses added.

I used to send the page, or video, or whatever, but my best friend usually told me that he couldn't get that to work, so I started using the "Send Link" option.

On YouTube though, if I want to send a video to someone, I click on "Sharing" or something like that, or depending upon who I'm sending to, a few people like to get the video directly, then I look for the embed code to embed the video, but I usually only use that to embed the video on my MySpace page.

I sometimes use the "Copy" and "Paste" method of sending the web address of a video too, and what I do there is look for what I'll call the "Link Code," or address, of where the video is located, and then using copy and paste, I place that into an e-mail, but sometimes when I attempt that, the "Paste" disappears, so that just means that I can't copy the address into the e-mail.

I have already highlighted the address of a video, up in the address bar or location bar, which I will do here in this message, right now, I'll highlight the address, then I'll copy and paste it into the message here for example.

http://weblogs.newsday.com/news/opinion/walthandelsman/blog/2008/05/animation_high_gas_prices.html

Just another option if the "Send Link" doesn't work for you.

Good Luck to you Dolly,
BernieLJ77
