Thats great!!!!! 'Dr. Tom Suozzi wants to lay off 250 cops or cut thier salaries by 7%...... Thats great, does he realize that he's gonna layoff 250 Police Officers that only make $35,000 a year ?? Wheres the sense in that? After he lays them off the county is gonna have to pay guys making $100,000 or more time and a half to fill all the spots.
Dr. souzzi is gonna layoff how many county workers due to one of the reasons bieng downward sale tax revenue but dont 90% of them live in Nassau County thats really gonna get people to start spending more money... Maybe all the drug dealers and gangbangers will increase the sales tax revenue cause the cops are gonna be undermaned and why would they want to protect and serve the comunity when the comunity isnt protecting them. Hey Tom hope you dont want a future in politics because if you layoff cops your rich mommy and daddy are gonna to have to support you because youll be commiting political suicide

Tom Suozzi's not the only government executive taking an axe
to an anticipated big budget deficit. Governor David Paterson is
doing a pretty good impersonation of Paul Bunyan, too. For the
second time in 80 years Wall Street has put this country on the
ropes. What does Washington do? Uncle Sam gives the financial speculators billions of dollars in tax money.

And at home police officers, governement workers and teachers
are threatened with layoffs if they don't take big pay cuts.
Meanwhile, the CEO's of the poorly managed companies at
the center of this crisis are crying about cancelling junkets to
Las Vegas and having to stop buying luxury jets.

It's time to elect leaders who really know that it's the cop, the
teacher, and the average working stiff who are important. Not the
thieves on Wall Street.

Mr. Suozzi has been using fear tactics and has been trying to put the county residents agains the county employees. He wants to divide and conquer. Most county employees are county residents.
He wants to take the route and say we're all in this together then include all county residents in the "sacrafice" he speaks of. He speaks of cutting jobs of police officers. Crime is already on the rise due to the tough economic times.
Our jails are already overcrowded. Social Services is backlogged in cases by the thousands.

What are the sacrafices he himself and his administrators have made? Is it there brand new restored building in Mineola that was/is suppose to restore our pride in Nassau County?
Give me a break!

Mr. Suozzi also wants to point fingers and look back at the past instead of taking blame and responsibility for the position and condition we are in.
Can he and his administration not think of any other ways to raise money. Cuts have been made in the past and they are always temporary. You can't lay people off that service the people that have voted you in office to serve them.

The county employees not taking pay increases right now is one thing. Asking them to cut their salaries by 7% is just crazy. Asking them to work five days a week and only paying them for four is unethical and I believe ultimately illegal.
He'll lay people off and other will just get in line for overtime. It makes no sense.

How about a little out-of-the-box thinking on his behalf. How about him showing all of the Nassau County residents where the money has gone and where it goes today. Let the county's residents decide on how the money shoould be spent and come up with ways to make money.
Making additional money for the county is the way to go.

I can list several ways the county can raise/save additional money:

Increase fines for various violations within the county.
Charge more money for the use of county facilites.
Increase the hotel occupancy sales tax.
Stop funding agencies such as the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau (LICVB)

I have been a Correction Officer for 19 years and a visiting officer
for 12 of those years. The administration and Mr. Suozzi were well aware.
how much money they were spending to run Saturday visiting.Mr Suozzi made
a promise some years ago to a politician that if his people voted for him he would help
them out with a few things one being Saturday visiting.
There is also a huge eyesore on the grounds of the jail that was built for vistors, but now
thats sits empty since it was built where it wasn't suppose to be at a cost of thousands if not more.
Also around the year 2012 alot of officers become eligable for retirement ,
most wont leave since living in Nassau County retired is not happening, but he has been hiring at the jail while talking about laying off other county workers. If there is a problem now wouldnt you wait till 2012 to take care of that problem .Instead there are extra officers sitting around everyday doing nothing.Mr suozzi himself created these problems at the jail no one else,I would like to thank him thou for not taking his 6 percent cost of living raise, the correction officers usually go 3 or 4 years with out a contract and then give back the first year or two with 0 percent raises. Then we get below cost of living raises for the remainder of the contract.

Don't forget the 60% raise he gave himself. If he hadn't hired all those new cos he wouldn't have to lay them off. Right then he wouldn't be able to blame the layoffs on the unions.

either way we have to find out if gang grene is covered, i'll attempt a letter of medical necessity.....

Insurance is a kind of risk management that have been used to hedge against the risk of a contingent loss. With respect , Aman from Iceland.
