MINORITY BUSINESSES — The Small Business Administration and the Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency will take part in the 24th National Minority Enterprise Development Week Conference, a forum for executives from UPS, Tyco, FedEx, IBM and Wal-Mart to share with minority-owned firms information on strengthening their position in the global and domestic supply chain.

Sept. 1 - 3. AHMADIYA MUSLIMS — The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community holds its 58th annual convention to discuss such topics as dispelling misconceptions about Jihad and reanalyzing the original teachings of Islam.

MORNING
9 a.m. PENTAGON-IRAQ — Army Col. Thomas Vail, commander of 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, will brief live from Iraq to provide an update on ongoing security operations in Iraq.

11 a.m. JOBLESS NUMBERS — Acting Assistant Treasury Secretary Robert Stein holds an economic media briefing on the August jobless numbers, recent economic indicators and the state of the economy.
