Unreported Nicaraguan land deals aren't the only sources of questions about Rep. Jerry Weller's financial disclosure filings. As the Tribune reports today, the Republican congressman from Illinois' Guatemalan wife has formed a nonprofit corporation -- and its board includes Weller's mother and brother and one of his business partners.

That leads disclosure watchdogs to question Weller's decision to exclude his wife's finances from his House disclosure forms.

"The fact that one of his business partners is involved, that only adds to" an already difficult task of proving separate finances, said Bill Allison, a senior fellow at the Sunlight Foundation, a government-transparency watchdog group.

"The fact that his family members are involved would suggest that he has a pretty good idea of what's going on," Allison added. "Does he just discuss the weather with his family?"
