LOS ANGELES – Turnabout is fair play when Oprah stumps for Obama on Super Bowl Sunday.
Normally, Lucille “Miss” Evans, 54, a south Los Angeles community activist, is something of a football widow to her boyfriend, Ray Lewis, on Super Bowl day.
But when Oprah was scheduled to come to the University of California at Los Angeles to rally for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, Evans told Lewis that he would have to give up the NFL’s biggest game – or at least a good part of it – to hear Oprah, Caroline Kennedy and Michelle Obama on Sunday afternoon.
Lewis thus became something of a widower to a rival event on Super Bowl Sunday.
“I don’t like it! I just don’t like it,” Lewis said in the stands of the Pauley Pavilion, the university’s basketball stadium that was filling up to half of its 12,800-seat capacity about a half hour before the rally started.
“Be nice. Be nice to me!” Evans told her boyfriend. “I’ll make it up later. Now don’t write that!”
The couple were both wearing “Obama ‘08” t-shirts, with Lewis taking snapshots of the event with a disposal camera.
An enthusiastic Evans convinced Lewis to register to vote for the first time in his life; he’s in his late 50s. He gave up on ever registering, he said, after the four assassinations of the 1960s: President John F. Kennedy, the father of Caroline; Robert Kennedy, her uncle; Martin Luther King Jr.; and Malcolm X.
“There was nothing to believe in,” Lewis said, whose job is in the transportation field. Now graying, he recently registered for the first time so that he can vote for Obama because, he said, “He brings … a whole new idea.”
Evans was doubly insistent on dragging Lewis to the event because UCLA is also her alma mater; she’s a 1979 graduate.
“I had to be here. The men don’t get priority over this. No! No! I love them, but I don’t love them this much!” Evans said.

Wow, I'm impressed with all of the enthusiasm on the Dem side.
Not only do we have great candidates, Democratic voters have also been turning out the vote at nearly double the rate of the Republic Party sheeple.
On the GOPer side, they've settled on a Warmongering Geriatric (McCain) who know's close to nothing about the tanking economy or how to fix it.
I don't care what the polls say about John McCain aka Bob Dole 2.0 right now, he's going to get his tired, old butt handed to him.

Clinton health plan may mean tapping pay

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.
The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages ..."

Oprah should stick to entertainment. What does she know? What's in it for her? You know she has something in mind. It can't be about money. It has to be about power. Barack will be so owned by her and other entertainers/politicians he wont be able to think for himself. The last time Oprah was in baltimore Md she stated she that 'inner city school children did not deserve to be helped. If you are a christian why would you want the son of an atheist/muslim be the Pres of the US. Remember the scriptures of false prophets in high places? Go home OPrah and let the people decide for themselves.
