Our friends at HCD Research Inc. used their MediaCurves Internet technology to get a focus-group response to the New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's media appearance today.

From the moving curve, it looked like he started to lose both men and women among he 502 people surveyed when he apologized. HCD also found that more than 60 percent of the men and women surveyed thought Spitzer should resign.

Flemington, NJ, March 10, 2008 – A new national study among 502 male and female respondents revealed that the majority reported that Governor Eliot Spitzer should resign after viewing his apology regarding his involvement in a prostitution ring.

The communications research study was conducted today by HCD Research to obtain Americans’ perceptions of a video segment from Governor Spitzer’s press conference in which he apologized for his involvement in a prostitution ring.

While viewing the video, participants indicated their levels of believability by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses were recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of curves. To view believability curves, go to: www.mediacurves.com

Oh, Spitzer will resign, after he makes a deal with the feds.

Another democrat in deep doo-doo with the law...The new and improved 'party of corruption.'

Paulo

His ratings would probably go up if the hooker's name was Larry.

On Spitzer...because of the hypocrisy, Spitzer should not only be forced to resign but also he should be shamed by his constituents.

I feel terrible for his wife and children...what a legacy he left them???

I just read in the National Inquirer that Monica Lewinsky was "Kristen."

He shouldn't be allowed to make a deal and just resign! He was the Attorney General and knows it is illegal. He should suffer the same embarrassment as any other 'john' that lost his wife, his career and his reputation. He
knows the law. What he did was illegal! He should pay the consequences.

"WOMEN SPEAK"

OUR VOTE, PRENATAL CARE, HEALTCHARE, CHILDCARE, WELFARE, DOESN'T MATTER.

"MY MAN MATTERS"

and that is why we are of "MEN."

SO DON'T TAKE AWAY MY MAN'S MANHOOD. SO DON'T TAKE AWAY MY SON'S MANHOOD.

because.....

"MY MAN MATTERS"

OUR VOTE, OUR PRENATAL, OUR HEALTHCARE OUR CHILCARE, OUR WELARE MATTERS. BECAUSE WITHOUT.

MY MAN THE FACTS OF LIFE WOULDN'T MATTER!

Foregiveness is in her day!
Foregiveness is in his day!

As Confusing as that may be, that isn't a distraction in the day, it is THE FOOTPRINTS OF OUR DAY.

I TOO BELIEVE IN THE A 50/50 SPLIT. WE ARE ONE OR THE OTHER!

Two questions Eliot needs to answer:

Mr. Governor, did you aggressively pursue and shut down other prostitution rings to competitively benefit that prostitution ring from which you received services?
Mr. Governor, did you make payment to the prostitution ring from which you received services in anything other than money, including, but not limited to using or refraining from using the powers of your former office -- the Attorney General of New York?

And you believe what’s written in the National Inquirer? Please tell me you aren't serious (and I don’t think you are). Inquiring minds want to know.

If it wasn't for all the self-righteousness and pulpit preaching about decency, some segments of society might forgive him. We have some stomach for a man and his base needs, I think, but none for sanctimony. The man should have spent that $4,300 more wisely. Have you seen what they're doing with latex companions these days? I'm considering taking out a loan.

I'd like to know who else is involved. They were just saying some guy in Chicago was going to have one of the girls fly out..you know he most likely already spilled the beans. I bet the feds went to him and told him the jig was up.

I feel sorry for his family. They don't deserve the scrutiny they will get because he couldn't keep his pants zipped.

Does the fact New York Governor sees prostitutes in his spare time disturb you? What if it was kept concealed from the public? would that render him unfit to serve as Governor? I'm trying to gauge public opinion on this one. If you're interested, please vote on my poll:

The sting appears to be not coincidental.
Smells like a Republican set up.
Vitter and the other public bath frequenters must be happy.

Highlights the deficiencies of a long marriage.

I think Bush should resign for getting 5000 Americans killed in Iraq and for squandering 2 trillion dollars on failed conflict.
Talk about a real crime.

As long as he was not using public funds or was not doing anything to hurt the public, what he does in his personal life is between he and his family.....Why don't we spend more tax dollars focusing on "real crime" , funding education, ending poverty, and re-building Iraq so we can end this war ......and while we are at it, we should legalize prostitution which would in turn , generate more tax dollars.........I am so tired of these sting operations that waste money that could be used for positive things. what people WANT TO DO WITH THEIR OWN BODY IS THEIR OWN PEROGATIVE!!!!!!!If someone is forced into prostitution, that needs to be stopped, otherwise, we should mind our own business!!!!!!!!Leave the poor governor alone.......

Bad news..good news. The bad news is that another government official shows a lack of wisdom. The good news is that the media, who has been running around with a chubby over the democrats primaries now have fresh meat to chew on and may give the people a break from the election.

If he pulls a Clinton and tries to keep his office there will be all-out war on Spitzer.

In America, we are too preoccupied with details of the personal lives of our politicians. It makes us a laughingstock among the nations of the world.

We demand that that elected officials be saints. And when they fail to meet that standard, in our "righteous indignation" we are there to cast the first stone.

Tell me, O righteous ones, what would Jesus do?

I SPEAK! I AM TIRED OF not BEING FUNNY! MY POSTS are A WASTE OF SPACE AND I CONTINUE TO MAKE NO SENSE. I'M more SORRY THAN ELIOT SPITZER CAUGHT IN A HOTEL room WITH HIS PANTS DOWN AND A dead HOOKER LYING ON THE FLOOR!

It`s too bad! I feel so sorry for his wife and children. His apolligy is as fake as he is. He is not sorry for what he has done, he`s sorry he got cought! He sure ripped the glow from his wifes face. He should not be asked to resign, He should be fired. It`s also too bad they dont enforce the adultry laws!

He should get the same punishment as Scooter Libby. Spitzer's reputation has been sullied, that is punishment enough. Right Mr. President? Right Republican CIA outing apologists?

LBJ, you may have a point, but this case clearly doesn't fit it. This man aggressively prosecuted prostitution rings when he was attorney general. He'd be recognized as a world class hypocrite in Paris, Lisbon, Sao Paolo, Montreal or anywhere else.

"As long as he was not using public funds or was not doing anything to hurt the public..."

The man's entire income as governor of New York comes from public funds! His entire income before that as New York attorney general came from public funds. The IRS started investigating him to find why he was hiding spent money on his taxes so there's no argument to be made that he wasn't using the public's money for his trysts. A violation of the Mann Act, by its very nature, hurts the public and is a crime. Worst of all, this charlatan could very well have used his position as attorney general to allow his favorite prostitution ring to continue to operate.

If you can't see the clear conflicts of interest and abuse of office in this case you're either a partisan or an idiot.

John, trying to equate the case of "Mr. Law and Order" Eliot Spitzer setting himself up for one of the biggest falls we've ever seen in New York politics and the Plame case may be one of the dumbest things ever posted on this blog. And, yes, that includes the John E. posts.

He should no doubt resign. He also possibly be arrested for it. He is the gov. he is susposed to set an example and he has failed to do so

Just heard Whoopi make the statement on "The View" that when people commit crimes, they are charged for those crimes. If that be the case, then why do the Clintons, and I am saying Clintons with an "s", get away with anything they do? Bill with his perjury and Hillary with her campaign raising? Perhaps if it had been made clear Bill would not get away with having sex with an intern and then lying under oath about it, we wouldn't be having so many of these sex and bimbo eruptions!
Are the Clintons blessed by the devil?

Grambo. . .geez, Clinton was impeached. I'd say he was punished.

Yes, you are right Jeff. The Plame case was much much, more serious, since it involved issues of vital national security.

Impeached? He was never impeached. Impeached would mean he left office prematurely. That never happened! And, more importantly, he never spent one day in jail or had any charges made against him for perjury. You try lying in court and see how you much jail time you get.
Yep, this guy figured he could get away with it. Let's face it, all a Democrat has to do is apologize and they are forgiven. A Republican can apologize ten times and he is NEVER forgiven. I don't care what the rules are but shouldn't they be applied equally?

He should just go to a church program for a few weeks, like slimeball Rev. Ted Haggerty did, then emerge and claim that he's "cured" of the need to have sex with hookers.

I'm in complete agreement, Lois. That Plame lied to congress about sending her husband to Niger, which CIA documents reveal she clearly did do, revealed how the Wilsons were trying to politicize intelligence. Nothing could be a bigger threat to national security.
