ANDERSON, Ind. -- Sen. Barack Obama says he is not interested in any new debates before May 6 primaries in Indiana and North Carolina, according to excerpts of an interview to be broadcast Sunday on "FOX News Sunday."
From a sound-bite that FOX News is running today as a promotion of the interview airing Sunday:
Chris Wallace: Why are you ducking another debate with Senator Clinton?
Obama: You know, I'm not ducking one. We've had 21 and so what we've said with two weeks, two big states, we want to make sure that we're talking to as many folks possible on the ground, taking questions from voters.
Wallace: No debates between now and Indiana?
Obama: We're not going to have debates between now and Indiana.

Why should Obama debate Shillary?
Shillary has already LOST and it would only give her over-the-hill feminist nutjob supporters more reason to try and smear Obama and destroy the Democratic Party.
As far as I'm concerned, these nutty Shillary feminists/fans can go vote for McCain or go chase parked cars or whatever else they do in their spare time, just get lost, go have a bra burning party or whatever. You were never real democrats anyway because the last time I checked we didn't have a monarchy anymore which means Shillary is not going to be the queen.
If we get a McCain Presidency it will be their fault and the bomb bomb Iran, 100 years in Iraq they get will be what they deserve.

Calling these gotcha meetings "debates" is laughable.

Coward. He can reach millions in a debate if that was what he is concerned with. But he's running scared now because he knows he cannot compete with Hillary in policy details.
Even Chris Wallace sees it for what it is: ducking debates.

Not quite. There have actually been only 4 between just the two of them. Clinton proposed Lincoln-Douglas style debates with no moderators. I think that's a great idea. Let's see lots of those. Or is Obama afraid that she'll show him up? If not, let the debates begin.

Afraid of tough questions, huh? I wonder if China or Russia will ever want to debate.

It's about the way it looks.
And the fact that the campaigns had committed to these.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

Thank God, Senator Obama has finally called it quits to the nonsense, passing for debates. He is doing a fine job, getting his message out to the voters. Let the media get out there and do some work, on its own. I am glad that Senator Obama will not allow himself to be an easy target for cheap shots, from the media and others!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Excellent strategy for someone who doesn't believe in free speech for EVERYONE.
And since he's such a nice corporate lackey, the media's on his sign.
Here's the pattern:
1. BARACK SCREWS UP
2. THE MEDIA COVERS IT
3. HILLARY, ASKED TO COMMENT, EITHER DEFERS OR IS VERY MODERATE IN HER COMMENTS.
4. BARACK ATTACKS HER.
When Hillary does something the media can pounce on, the pattern is:
1. BARACK'S SURROGATES GO FOR HER JUGULAR.
2. HILLARY THEN DEFENDS HERSELF AGAINST THE OBAMA ATTACK/MEDIA SUPPORT MACHINE
3. OBAMA HIMSELF ACCUSES HER OF ATTACKING HIM.

And Barry Soleto carries this out by hiring attack dogs on the bloggers to go after those of us speaking out.
Whatta guy.

It's well to debate Hillary, and the so called details she proposes. But her main reason to force a debate is her campaign kit is empty. She won't mind some free ride on some TV/Radio station. For the same reason she is not coming to NC. She must pay her debts using the coins which rolled into her kit after PA instead of wasting it in a race she has lost. It must be known she is out to destroy a fellow democrat in preparation for after-MAC rule: 2012. She will just be 64.

Really?
You are the only one on here that comes across as a hired blogger.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense already knows that America has decided to fire the Clinton's...i.t's only Shillary and nutjob feminists like you that still have your heads up your butt who are stinking up this blog.
You are either getting paid or you have some severe mental problems.

Senator Clinton needs to stop trying to bully Senator Obama, and anyone else that she wants to control and dominate for that matter, and use her strong arm tactics to control the out-of-control Mr. Bill Clinton! I am interested in foreign policy issues, national health care plans, a domestic agenda for our country, and economic issues that impact me as a tax paying American citizen. I am struggling to maintain my employment and my home because gas now costs $3.51 a gallon in my city and I have to drive one hour and thirty minutes round trip to work every day. I AM NOT INTERESTED in another right wing, Republican tinged, hidden agenda debate that has been negotiated between the Clinton political machine and ABC or FOX news, with the primary objective of making Senator Clinton look “ELECTABLE" by any means necessary at the expense of my sensibility and my intelligence! No thank you!

Why would Barack want to debate Hillary again after the last debate? She joined in with the ABC slugs in the last debate and and took petty shots. f she really wanted to debate she blew it then; she could have said enough of this garbage and let's talk issues. Why is it so many prominent former Clintonites are supporting Obama?; the ones that really know the Clintons obviously want no more of it.

Chris Wallace tries to push buttons (always has) but instead he comes off as a second-class media man still trying to make it big after all these years. Why would he ask Obama why he was "ducking" another debate??? The VOTERS have already said they have had enough debates. There is nothing new said at any of them that they haven't already heard after the first three! GOOD for Obama!

Posted by: Barry O'Bamma | April 26, 2008 8:46 PM
Don't ask Barack any tough questions....pleeeeze!
Don't ask Barack about how he listened to racist Rev. Wright for over 20 years....pleeeeze!
Don't ask Barack about American Flag lapel pins.....pleeeeze!
I mean....he doesn't need to be vetted...he's Barack "Hussein" Obama and he's accomplished.....
uh, uh, uh...NOTHING!

"Afraid of tough questions, huh? I wonder if China or Russia will ever want to debate".
Are you referencing all of the historical Leaders-of-Great Debates? Moronic argument.

Hillary can pay for her own TV time. No need for Obama to allow her cash strapped campaign to get free publicity.
Posted by: strut2k | April 26, 2008 10:19 PM
Ask Hillary how many debates she allowed with her Democratic challenger in 2006? When it was obvious she had a commanding lead and much more money than her challenger there was no reason to debate the guy and give him free air time. EXACTLY THE SAME THING HERE! Hillary is still poor. We come to find out that they DID NOT raise $10 million after Pennsylvania - that was just the goal, the campaign said after a reporter did his job and asked them to prove it. There's no more reason to see these fairly ideological similar candidates debate again - with or without a moderator/Clinton cheerleader
Posted by: Mark Billingsley | April 27, 2008 11:11 AM
Please stop! Everyone seems to think the media is so unfair to their candidate. And, since when does supporting your candidate mean that you have to hate the others? Have we all turned into little Karl Roves?
Clinton wants to debate with Obama because she's better in that forum compared to him, and she needs a game-changer.
Obama doesn't want to debate with Clinton because in that forum he can, at best, look as good as her, but more than likely he'll fair a bit worse. Plus, he's ahead. Why would he put himself in a situation that can only benefit her?
This is just politics...on both sides.

Why should he debate her anymore and give her free air time (which she cannot afford) and give the Repub's many a sound byte of her attacking him Repub style? He has already won and should not give her a chance to spew her propaganda and smears. She is very irresponsible in this since she knows he is the likely nominee and can onle win by immorally tearing him to bits. Doing so would end her quest for the White House as well. So not debating is good for both of them and for the party.
End the drama! Bring home the troops!

ObamaDrains...care to show some examples of when Clinton has shown moderation in her attacks? When has she ever deferred. When has Obama ever directly said anything related to her Bosnia LIE? Hillary was commenting day and night about Rev. Wright and the "bittergate" BS. Jugular? Obama has stayed above the fray. He could have run all kinds of attack ads off that Bosnia lie and drudged up prior lies and Bill's whopper about Lewinsky...Hillary's good at playing guilt by association so turnabout is fair play right? Well, Obama is too classy for that. The Obama campaign could have run a response ad to Hillary bringing up Bill Ayers by bringing up all the pardons Bill Clinton made his last day in office. Leading the parade of those pardoned or granted clemency could have been the pictures of the tow women responsible for killing two police men in a botched robbery. He could then put a big red question mark full screen and asked the viewer, "Why? What was in it for the Clintons?" The Clintons are ripe for attack ads, but Obama continues to stay above the fray because there's an unwritten rule that you can jostle your opponent for the party's nomination but you don't cut them off at the knees like Hillary did with here infamous "I've passed the CIC test, McCain has too and all Obama has is a speech from 2002." If I was Obama the gloves would have come off and Hillary would have been left bruised and beaten by the roadside - metaphorically speaking of course. She would have been asking if someone got the license plate number of those ads that ran her over. But Obama is a better man than me. He's keeping his powder dry for McBush.

Lincoln Douglas debates were, if I remember my history, to debate opposite sides of an issue, particularly slavery. What would be the point of two democrats having such a debate? Obama made the right choice. Clinton would use it for free air time. The whole thing would be another debacle.

Billingsley---
there are plenty of examples and I do not have time to take you to school.
Newspapers are a great thing.
Read them.
And learn about How Barry Soleto screwed over Alice Palmer after pretending to be a sincere community activist type.

Oh--something else to send you back to HQ for talking points Angellight/JulieMack/FixAmerica:
Wanna hear a REAL problem with truth?
It's Obama's duck of the real, national news media.
Seems like a kid who was raised by a bank vice president, don't it?
There were not 21 debates. Just 4 with the one candidate the news media could not eliminate FOR the junior Senator from IL.
And how'd he get there?
He threw Alice Palmer under the bus.

All the nasty folks blogging for Obama--don't have a stroke, but please READ--really read this:

Ya get it now? Hillary's supporters aren't the enemy--a lot of us were Obama supporters/vols.
But we have more experience (Soleto/Obama calls that cynicism) and so saw through it before the trial started.
Just something we sensed that didn't pass the smell test.
Welcome to the world of politics, kids. You'll be forgiven. We went through it too. I remember Mondale; Dukakis, Kerry, Gore.
Take a day and then join us.

Obama does not want to debate because it would give free air time to Hillary, which she would not otherwise be able to afford. Additionally, as the primary leader, he really has nothing to gain and everything to lose by debating her. Instead of just coming out and saying this, Obama makes up some nonsense that only his most naive supporters will swallow.
