CHARLESTON, W.Va--With just about a half-an-hour until the polls close in West Virginia, MSNBC has released the results of some exit polling.
Eighty-eight percent of voters polled said they were negatively affected by the tumbling economy. Meanwhile, 63 percent of those surveyed said Hillary Clinton's federal gas tax holiday plan was a good idea.
Clinton kept floating the idea of gas tax holiday in West Virginia, even though the idea was panned by Barack Obama. Some felt that idea smacked of a political stunt and cost her votes in Indiana and North Carolina.
But interviews with those attending Clinton rallies here suggested that they believed the holiday would help them, and Clinton spoke about how the holiday would especially help residents in a rural state like this, where driving is often a necessity.
By the way, the price of gasoline here is hovering around the $4 per gallon mark. Stickers displayed on gas pumps say that the federal gas tax on each gallon amounts to 18 cents.
The electorate: MSNBC's exit polls say 65 percent of the voters here are whites who have attended less than four years of college..

Interesting that they found the economy to be the top issue, but didn't put the level of research required for a 7th grade book report into economics.
If they had spent maybe 30 seconds googling the issue, they wouldn't have fallen for the absurdity of the Clinton Gas Tax Boondogle.
Maybe next time their issue should be Education?

At least the voters of West Virginia know that a 54% payroll/income tax will not stimulate the economy nor create jobs.
