Condi Rice: There will be (new) blood: The Swamp

How many times, exactly, does the secretary of state have to say, 'No?'

In a town of "maybes'' and "options on the table,'' it's refreshing to see someone who knows how to say, "No.''

The only frustrating part is how many times Condoleezza Rice has to say it. How many times can she say no? Let us count the ways.

The secretary of state, who came from Stanford University and schooled President Bush in foreign policy, plans to return to Stanford when Bush retires. And no matter how many times she is asked if she would like to serve as Sen. John McCain's running mate, she has the same answer.

"It's dearly flattering to have people think that way,'' Rice said to the running mate question on FOX and Friends this morning, "but it's time for me to go back to Stanford.

"I'm quite certain that Sen. McCain is going to find a really great running mate and he himself is a terrific patriot,'' she said. "He's a good friend, but it's time for me to do something else

"Government service is a great thing,'' said Rice, who has served Bush for the full two terms, as national security adviser, and as secretary of state, -- one of few aides to make the full run, "but you have to know when your time is up, and it's time for new blood."

It is good to hear. Her being picked as his VP would definately determine my decision not to vote for him. As a Hillary supporter I am on the fence as to whether to vote for McCane or not vote at all.

Talk about new blood, Senator Joe Biden would make a first-rate Secretary of State, in President Obama's cabinet. He has the expertise and he knows the players ! He's a great Democrat and he will be working overtime to give all parties, in any given conflict, an honest hearing, something that the present administration failed to address, when it had the opportunities !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

Nice headline!....You make it sound like she's going to invade some country so there will be "new blood" on the streets. Your headline should at least match the story! Perhaps.."Condi says no to V.P." But that headline is too nice for an evil Republican.

Unfortunately Condi has missed her opportunity to be a force for good in the world. She has shown no leadership while simply being a "yes person" to Mr. Bush. Sometimes a well timed resignation ( or the threat of one) can change the course of events. In fairness the same is true of Colin Powell who followed his military instincts of being a faithful soldier rather than remembering that he was in a civilian position and that resignation is the ultimate weapon in making a point. I look forward to what his book (I am sure he will write one) will reveal about this administration.

The National Republican Party is bankrupt on ideas so they are stealing the IL GOP strategy of running another black person/minority to neutralize Obama. Jindal for Veep? Rice for Veep? Neither would even be mentioned as possibilities if they had pale skin.

The students and faculty of Stanford *DO NOT WANT YOU*, Condi. I should know. I live here. You disgraced us all.
