McCain's press corps: 'Junior varsity': The Swamp

Oh boy.

The media circus surrounding Sen. Barack Obama's Euro-Middle-East-War-Front Summer Tour has hardly gone unnoticed at camp McCain, which issued some new credentials, all in fun, of course, for its own, more limited traveling press retinue.

As our friends at the Boston Globe tell it, the tags read: "JV Squad. Left Behind to Report in America," on one side, with a red-white-and-blue, fireworks-exploding image of the Statue of Liberty.

The flip side: A French beret-wearing man pouring wine, with the Eiffel Tower in the background. And, as our friends at the L.A. Times' Top of the Ticket note, the McCain campaign speaks some French as well: "Le groupe de presse de McCain, L'equipe junior,'' le tag reads. "Laisse en arriere pour faire un rapport en Amerique."

That's wine. Not whine.

The campaign of Sen. John McCain has accused the media of a love-affair with Obama's candidacy (The Project for Excellence in Journalism reports that the media has covered Obama more than McCain for the sixth straight week). So when Obama delivers a speech in Berlin on Thursday, the Republican National Committee plans to air a radio ad challenging Obama's record on supporting the troops in three other Berlins back home -- in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Yep! Eat this up Republicans. McCain isn't using your contributions to generate inspiring new ideas to replace his stale platitudes. Nope he's taking your money and printing T-shirts for political stunts in order to beg for undeserved attention. He's toast if he can't up with a reason to vote for him. All he does is talk negatively about his opponent.

Wow I live an hour away and sadly nobody even reported he was in the area?? Sad to say the media only spins in one direction. Even more apparent than ever this time. I never wanted to believe this but it IS true. Lets listen to the dems sugar coat another election, then do noting they promised. At least McCains got the nerve to tell you we are not able to just leaving Iraq. As everyone will see when Obama gets elected.

The media circus surrounding Sen. Barack Obama's Euro-Middle-East-War-Front Summer Tour... ~ M.S.

In the Center Ring, you have your lions, your tigers, your elephants, your simians. Coming down the Main Concourse are the jugglers and the clowns. Up overhead are the high flyers, the trapeze artists, the defyers of death. The great Obama, supreme master of the universe, Obie1, celebritee, cardboard extraordinaire, Housing Project Guy with the military skills of a West Point General, stating only the obvious, if not the inane, as his handlers orchestrate the moving flux of people and animals, and all matter of things known unto man. Under the Big Top.

It is a touring circus. Thanks for noticing.

McCain's minions should be thanking the MSM its coverage. CBS found it necessary to edit an answer he gave in an interview to something that made it sound as if he knew what he was talking about. So much for journalistic integrity.

"GRAMMSTANDING NO MORE MCCAIN SPEAKS"

HELP, I NEED SOMEBODY, HELP, I NEED SOMEBODY, H E L P! A BEATLE COULD DO BETTER THAN ME!

Gee, it sure was nice of Grandpa McBush to "dare" President Obama to take an international trip. I wonder what other "brilliant" campaign idea's Grandpa will have before the GOP replaces him with a better candidate at their upcoming convention?

Here I thought the leftist media would have learned their lesson when CBC and Dan Rather aired that accusation against President Bush in 2004 based on falsified documents. Trying to manipulate an election, this time not through false documents but by sheer weight of coverage, is hardly becoming. Nor is it conducive to restoring the level of trust in the media, now lower than anyone except the Democratic Congress.

Dc40 - I wish I had a nickel for every benighted poster who swallowed whole-hog the completely imaginary concept of liberal media bias.

Let's go over this slowly. The "media" is a for-profit business, with most major outlets being owned by conservative multinational corporations. Businesses exist to make money. In the "media" business, money is made from advertising. The more people that consume your product, the more ad revenue is made. Thus, the "media's" interest, and the interest of the companies that own the "media" is to capture as wide of an audience as possible. They don't care who, how, or why ... they just want action. Right now, Obama is action. McCain is a snore. You can blame the consumers for that, but you cannot blame the "media". If anything, the corporations who own the "media" are better off financially with a McCain presidency. The myth that the media has a liberal bias was part of the GOP's southern strategy in the 60s and 70s to convince the gullible public not to trust what they see and hear on the news (Vietnam, anyone?), and somehow that myth has endured despite zero evidence to support it.

Get it? Is that so hard?

Chad-you apparently aren't aware who is leading in the money making of news>FOX NEWS. Next, there is CNN who are holding their own, but CBS AND NBC are not doing well at all.

Lets say they are in this to make money by selling advertising, wouldn't it be prudent business sense for the ones at the bottom (or not at the top) to take a look at the TOP DOG and follow suit? Would it not be smarter for advertizers to dump the bottom and move to the top?

Well, what do you say is the problem with these stubborn money makers, could their be something stronger at play, like a political agend?

CBS use to be top dog in the 60's and 70's but they slowly starting hiring some very liberal viewed people and they have changed. What is liberal now days is way farther left than what it use to be. I switched parties for the same reason myself.

Trudat, what about the political donations ($5 and $10) that Obam used to fancy up his airplane? Isn't that an even more waste of money. I would bet that cost about 50 to 100 times the amount that McCain spent on these little blips.
John E. I don't think McCain expected Obam to make an extended vacation at the tax payers expense under the guise of it being a congressional trip. He only encouraged him to visit the troops in Iraq, but as usual Obam found it necessary to go overboard as is his tendency with everything he undertakes. You can imagine what his overdo will be costing the taxpayers if he should by chance be elected.
