Earlier, I posted on the Federal Emergency Management Agency getting flak from state and local officials in Texas for not getting food, water and other critical supplies to the Hurricane Ike evacuees and even first responders.
FEMA, for its part, blamed local and state officials for fumbling on the distribution.
Given all that, a FEMA press release e-mailed this afternoon caught my eye announcing some video footage the agency was making available to the broadcast media.
B-ROLL OF COMMODITY DISTRIBUTION IN RESPONSE TO HURRICANE IKE
WASHINGTON- The Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is offering b-roll footage of commodity distribution at the Community of Faith Church in Houston. FEMA, state, local and other federal agencies work with community volunteers to distribute food, water and ice.

I guess the prayers for rain in Denver backfired; Hit Texas instead. Way to go Christian clerical fascists. You hurt a bunch of innocent Texans instead of the evil liberal.

Per cta: "Can the administration do anything right?"
Of course they can. Take redistribution of wealth.

Took care of that already - Katrina 05. Took care of the liberals and others of their ilk in New Orleans. And may I add, did a much better job.

I am here right in the middle of all of this - people were screaming for FEMA within 7 hours of the storm - what about personal responsibility??? We have been warned hundreds of times to have our own provisions for up to 72 hours but people didn't do that. I understand that not everyone can afford to stock up on bottled water - but it doesn't cost anthing to fill up pitchers of tap water before the storm hits. Not everything is the responsibility of the government - yes, FEMA will step in and help, but people need to help themselves and quit screaming into the cameras that there "ain't no one helping us" Let's have some compassion for those who lost everything and quit griping because the ice isn't getting here fast enough - the recovery effort is still looking for bodies - quit blaming the government for everything.

Have a helicopter outfitted with camera and GPS fly over the debris fields. This coodinates the precise location of any object worth salvaging. The camera pictures could run on something like E-bay and interested parties could bid for select items. Also, owners of property MIGHT have a chance of finding it by viewing the footage. An arduous task still, but infinitely simpler than trying to guess where one's property ended up without this.
