Do stingrays have a killer rep?

blogThumb2.jpgHere is a News Illustrated page that was done back in 2006 when there was an attack in the Intracoastal Waterway and "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin died. It explains a lot of things about stingrays, like the stinger, body parts, size, etc. Hopefully it can give some insight into the animal that killed a tourist from Michigan Thursday morning in the Florida Keys.

I've been a scuba diver for 16 years enjoying the waters off of Florida's coast with all it's magical reefs and marine life. NO way would I every look at any stingray as dangerious to humans. The three accidents involving these beautiful animals are rare. We're more likely to be hit by lightning than killed by a stingray.
Amazing illustration that I plan on saving to show my children.
